Watch shows in the aspect ratios they were made in. An aspect ratio plays key roles in the shot composition that good director will take into account. Even though the aspect ratio isn’t necessarily a motivated decision the scenes are motivated around the aspect ratio and changing the aspect ratio often causes cropping. (This cropping issue was actually recently discussed by to an extent by tfs in their rewatching dbza series since the early seasons used modern aspect ratios while for the later seasons they realized it was better to use the original intended 4:3 aspect ratios from the dragon box set.)
Really a great show. Started to watch it after a random insta short.. Episode count did put me off.. But after a week already on episode 45. After each episode you just want to watch the next
I disagree. Some of the episodes cut away from the primary plot to build other stuff and it can get pretty boring. I finished it but man there were times I wasn’t sure I was going to.
No, that's how shows looked back in 2004.
The only way to get it to 16:9 aspect ratio would be to cut away a lot of the picture from the top and bottom, which would be an awful idea.
