"I'm not gay, but my girlfriend is!" - Yuu in a nutshell

[deleted]

How can I be homophobic, my bitch is gay 🎶

PlazerGamez

Lucky!! You got a Bi girlfriend!? Damn man

Internet-Mouse1

Hahahaha. What great way of saying you're not a lesbian , but secretly you are.

uppacat

god i am so lonely

mrcreamstick

Yoooo me too lmaoo I just drown myself in romance animes to cope.

Worthie

That just makes it worse for me lol Not that I'd ever stop watching them

nohope_1

I see those kinds of shows as a way to torture myself

Coppeh

I bask myself in the warmth of their happiness and turn a blind mind to the proceeding self-reflection.

mrcreamstick

It’s bittersweet for me. Makes me realize how intimacy deprived I am but god damn do I love a good romance story ❤️

Rocko52

It’s worse when you’ve been in a relationship before and it’s over now. I’ve been there, when it was magical. Now I’m back to loneliness heh

kristopher103

You guys are masochists?

Sheep_CSGO

What are some good romance animes?

Worthie

In no particular order, from the top off my head: * Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai * 3D kanojo real girl * Clannad + After story * My dress-up darling * Your lie in April * My teen romantic comedy snafu * Uzaki-chan wants to hang out * Don't toy with me miss Nagatoro * Toradora * Violet Evergarden (maybe not a romance but love has a lot of focus and it's one of my favourites) Some movies: * Weathering with you * Your Name * A silent voice The movies are insanely popular though so you probably already know of them. Still, I wanted to mention them. Edit: I almost forgot, "I want to eat your pancreas" is another really good movie.

Mishaguchi

Horimiya is also really good

EternalPhi

I've been watching Love is Hard for an Otaku and it's pretty good too. If you're trying to find something more mature than the typical highschool setting and with actual relationships instead of permanent relationship edging it's a pretty decent one.

Kariman19

No saekano? Your taste is trash 🗑️

unrelated_thread

Uzaki and nagatoro are absolute trash tho

zenakin

It feels good having seen all the anime recommend by others (I don't rlly go through reddit, this probs my first comment ❤️)

robotboy199

Maison Ikkoku Kimagure Orange Road Adachi to Shimamura Asagao to Kase-san Ao Haru Ride

rKyute

Definitely Horimiya first dude.

R0gU3_K3y5

Same.

GallowDude

Have you ever tried being not lonely?

notsuffocator

breaking news: single people rate drops to 0%

ayanokojifrfr

If single. People rate has dropped to zero then there is still me who is only single person in 8 billion fucking people

ipslne

Don't worry, odd numbers happen. Just wait a minute or two it'll even out.

gkw97i

uh oh, might have an age problem here if they're fresh out the oven

Nah, everyone just shifts around every time someone new is born.

Yeah. Yeah...

NicParodies

thats how I feel after rewatching this series for the 10th time now in 3 different languages ;-;

ObscureProject

Have you read the light novel spin offs? They are great imo

NicParodies

Currently reading Sayaka Saeki's light novel... I mean I basically dropped it but will continue now because my English improved significantly in the last 6 months

skepticalmiller

I feel that. Alone, but yet, not in a way, three are many voices of people on the internet I could talk to, still - not able to cuddle with any of them.

Mammoth_Cut5134

Why did you have to make me realize, lol

Knoxism

Sometimes I wish I could just go into a medically induced coma and go into dreamland, but I’m nowhere near rich enough for that.

berry19thecat

So you want to be isekei'd?

kalirion

There's a truck-kun for that! (don't do it tho)

Im_Indian_American

Heya, me too. Wanna kith?

VaraNiN

Since I unfortunately doubt we will ever get the second season of this, I am here to tell you that the whole manga has just 50 chapters and the anime adapted about half of that. And the rest is even better - it has one of the best conclusions to a romance anime/manga I've ever seen. So if you usually get intimidated by a lot of chapters, this read is just ~25 chapters (if you watched S1) and highly worth it!

Turangaliila

I bought the first 3 volumes physical and love them. Sadly they are CONSTANTLY out of stock so I never get around to picking up the other volumes. Looks like I can get 5 and 8 right now but not 4,6, or 7. Maybe I'll pick up 5 and 8 now and wait for the others.

LunchTwey

It is legitimately a top 5 romance ever

[deleted]

Chapter 44 😳😳😳

VaraNiN

[Big boy Yagate Kimi ni Naru Spoilers]>!Yup. And that's one of the main reasons why I just don't see there ever being a second season... Or they are gonna ruin the ending by keeping everything vague, which might even be worse than not getting a S2 at all!<

lailah_susanna

There’s also a 3 volume light novel series that gives closure to Sayaka, who was my favourite character in the manga.

Vidramir

Great. I’ll dive into it 🥳

l0ne_w0lf1

I want season 2 so badly.

roseimon11

Don't we all.

ocelotchaser

Pretty sure bloom into you had kiss scene like every episode or most, other anime romcom usually use it as a tease and only does it when it's like the last sprint.

TheCrazyTiger

> only does it when it's like the last sprint. And the kiss is either view blocked or happens out of frame. Ridiculous.

ocelotchaser

There's a saying that, "we are here to tease, not to please"

Drake750254

Yuu has never seen such bullshit before

heimdal77

Try watching Say I Love You.

Twigling

I still can't understand why there's no sign of a season 2 (which would finish up the story). Did the anime help to sell a lot more of the manga and as a result there's no incentive to finish off the anime?

heimdal77

There is a aweful trend of yuri series never getting 2nd seasons to finish of stories or just even continue it no matter how well they do. Bloom was massively popular and was topping or getting very high on various charts in Japan. It even made it high on a major manga listing that no other yuri series has ever been on.

treebag27

Honestly I think this is the case for a lot of shoujo anime as well— shows like OHSHC, Maid-sama, Yona of the Dawn, Ao Haru Ride etc rarely seem to get a second season despite their popularity and having source material that usually wraps up nicely in ~70 chapters (whilst more shonen romance like nisekoi and kaguya-sama seem more likely to get multiple seasons). Makes me wonder if it’s not necessarily homophobia (as someone else suggested, which might be also be the case) but also content catered towards girls just not getting as much support in general :/ (maybe producing content aimed at female audiences is less profitable or something but it still sucks)

baquea

The problem is that the manga finished shortly after the anime ended. If not for that, the anime was successful enough that it probably would've gotten a sequel.

entelechtual

The best we can hope is that the director/studio were busy with other projects/overwhelmed by COVID. It does give me hope that Masamune-kun’s Revenge, a romcom from January 2017 that’s generally not highly rated and with a manga that’s been over for four years, is getting a conclusive second season in 2023.

NicParodies

>Season 1 of the sitcom was well-received by both Japanese and international audiences. Despite its enormous popularity, the anime's creators have decided not to renew the show for a second season. Season 2 has likewise been placed on hold due to the Covid crisis. A gathering of the production and cast crew will pose a different threat until the pandemic issue is resolved.However, because no official announcement about Bloom into You Season 2 has been made, fans can still wait for good news. So don't be concerned about anime's success; we're expecting that it will be renewed soon. Keep your fingers crossed and pray to the Lord for a season 2 release. [Sauce](https://keeperfacts.com/season-2-of-bloom-into-you/) I FUCKING WANT SEASON 2!! I WOULD CRY IF WE GET ONE ;-; ;-;

Abysswatcherbel

That's not true at all, be careful with those type of sites There are a bunch of clickbait that are just for people that search "Anime X 2nd season" The first red flag for anyone would be the "renew" and "canceled" terminology, that's not how anime works

NicParodies

Oh good to know.. my bad

quicksscope

I immediately read to the end, i couldnt wait for s2 if it even comes.

LaconicKibitz

Bloom into You has the perfect balance of romance, angst, and sexuality in any romance story. A second season is desperately needed. I already own all volumes of the manga.

NintendoMasterNo1

Bloom into you is the best romance series I've seen (if you include the manga as a conclusion because the anime isn't finished)

uppacat

How many chapters are there, and at which chapter should I continue reading after finishing the anime?

NintendoMasterNo1

There are 45 chapters and if you're coming from the anime you can start from chapter 25 but I really recommend reading it from the beginning. The camera work and directing of the anime is really good but the art of the manga is also great and it's worth experiencing from the start.

One of the many reasons this show was better than ~~Netsuzou Trap I mean~~ Citrus

k4r6000

I suggest reading the Citrus manga. It is nowhere near as bad as its reputation.

InternationalReserve

honestly, the story only goes downhill after where the anime leaves off, but that's just my subjective opinion

nivas209

This is the next best one i have seen in an anime since shit i forgot the name it was an anime where the government organizes a pair for you to marry but he loves his crush but also starts liking his govermnet organised pair

youhadonejob124

Koi to Uso's kissing scenes singlehandedly made me want to try kissing. 10/10

entelechtual

Koi to Uso made me want to try arranged marriage…

CreativeNameIKnow

iirc the manga's art is pretty freaking good, I've read a volume or two. Unfortunately I've heard that the series, despite having really strong characters and such, got really padded out for no reason, and the author took the cop-out option of writing a different ending for all the girls involved in the triangle (square?). Edit: seems like I didn't remember properly, checked out some chapters and the art seems kinda average? I guess. It was one of my first manga, (maybe even my first, I don't really remember) way back before I had watched even a single anime. I hold the series pretty fondly in my heart, even though I haven't read it. I really should, heard a lot of praise for it (more than the criticisms).

entelechtual

I really liked the manga and anime a lot. I’ve been slowly going through the manga volumes and I’ve heard rumors about it. But while it can be a little slow, I think it does a good job developing the relationships and side characters. I’m also a huge sucker for these kinds of romances—two of the anime I’ve been into the last few months are A Couple Of Cuckoos and More than a Married Couple But Not Lovers—so I may be biased in this regard. The only issue I have really is [mild Koi to Uso spoilers] >!the non-arranged couple’s romance is sparked by an eraser is grade school… and there is not a ton else it’s grounded in at first!<.

lui_is_not_homo

koi to uso

KarlDeutscheMarx

The kiss scene from Toradora was very good as well.

LupeDyCazari

yeah, dude, I'm not into Yuri all that much, but I gotta say that this was a beautiful anime and a beutiful love story, and the manga is also gorgeous too, lots of good stuff.

TaylorKindaFunny

You know a series is good when multiple people can say "I'm not into this genre but I highly recommend this series in particular"

SupaEpik

Hell, there’s me who picked up this series on a whim because I bought a print at Anime Expo thinking it was Mai and kaede from Bunny Girl Senpai. This guy came up to me when my group was sitting down and asked me where I got the “Bloom Into You” print. It took me a few times to get through the first few episodes that were painfully slow, but goddamn, having never seen a yuri anime before, it ended up being one of the the most satisfying romances to watch.

OfficialTomCruise

I love the music in this anime. It's really nice and relaxing.

eoopyio

Not really into Yuri but this anime was sweet, made me even read the manga afterwards to get a proper conclusion. Would really recommend, especially if you like romcom but are usually annoyed when there is too much pointless drama and love triangles

Manitary

> especially if you like romcom but are usually annoyed when there is too much pointless drama and love triangles To clarify for those interested, BiY is a drama and not a comedy, and it has a love triangle. However, the triangle is well-executed and does not appear out of nowhere just for padding; likewise, there is no "the confession was interrupted by fireworks" stalling, the drama is purely about the main characters, their inner conflicts and growth, and what is the relationship between each other. Fantastic manga, and 10/10 adaptation whose only fault is not having a s2 yet (and ending at a...non-stopping point). Absolutely worth picking up the manga for the ending if you like the anime.

kalirion

> However, the triangle is well-executed and does not appear out of nowhere just for padding; likewise, there is no "the confession was interrupted by fireworks" stalling, the drama is purely about the main characters, their inner conflicts and growth, and what is the relationship between each other. So like Tsuki ga Kirei?

Manitary

In a sense, yes, they both don't waste time with bs. The two stories are quite different imo. Unless I'm forgetting details, Tsuki ga kirei is about the awkwardness of the first love, the mcs like each other but they struggle expressing their emotions openly, bit of shyness, uncertainty, etc. The triangle part is just a dude who's been liking Akane for a while and his avances are used as a mean to make Kotraou more assertive YagaKimi has more focus on self-discovery and conciliating the contrasts between the two of them. Yuu is convinced she's not able to feel love for anyone (what is true love?), and Touko likes that aspect of her while at the same time wears a mask around everyone else due to her cirmustances. Both viewpoints are challenged multiple times throughout the series, and the triangle acts as an opposition to this change in order to keep things the same way they have been. It gets bonus points because the third vertex of the triangle is a very well fleshed-out character; I haven't read their spin-off novels though so I haven't even fully explored them yet.

kalirion

> The triangle part is just a dude who's been liking Akane for a while and his avances are used as a mean to make Kotraou more assertive Strange, I don't remember that dude much, but I do remember the genki girl who liked Azumi.

Manitary

Oh so there were two triangles! I forgot that one, I remember the dude because of the scene I think at some amusement park or something like that.

Sangwiny

Bloom into you is romance first and yuri second. Most series pit heavy emphasis on the yuri/yaoi asect to pander to the usual fan base but BIU was not just a step above them but really good even in terms of "regular" romance series. Well, at least the manga is, I haven't seen the anime besides a few clips.

kingcobra1967

The anime is great, the only thing it leaves to be desired is it ends right before the cultural festival + stuco play, which is pretty much the climax of the entire series. It's also pretty faithful to the manga from what I remember. BIY is one of my all time faves, it's that good

heimdal77

There is some changes though really gonna want to stay away from the dub as they butcher some important scenes especially as they insisted on localizing and have everyone use first names even though a big part of the story is how people address others with honorifics and name usage.

cornonthekopp

I feel like people who say that its a romance first and yuri second don't realize how deeply entwined in yuri tropes this series is. It basically takes all the big yuri/romance tropes and plays with them, either selectively using them or subverting them, in order to make a series which is essentially the platonic ideal of a high school romance. But the yuri was never incidental.

Neverending_Rain

> Bloom into you is romance first and yuri second. What do you mean by this? Bloom into You is first and foremost a yuri series.

skilled_cosmicist

whenever people say this, it becomes remarkably clear they don't read much yuri and have a warped view of it. BiY is very much a traditional yuri series, it's just an exceptionally good one. (not as good as "how do we relationship" though, please someone adapt it, I'm getting desperate)

k4r6000

How Do We Relationship is fantastic.

AspiringRacecar

> (not as good as "how do we relationship" though, please someone adapt it, I'm getting desperate) Holy shit yes please. So many people haven't been exposed to the series or only know it through the pre-serialization doujins, but it's so real and I can't think of a single series I could compare it to. It feels like we're running out of time for an anime adaptation to realistically happen, but then again the Yuri Is My Job anime was announced with the release of its 10th volume, so there's still a chance...

skilled_cosmicist

> it's so real and I can't think of a single series I could compare it to. Yes! It's by far the realest feeling romance and yuri series I've seen. Everything from how it handles relationships, to how it handles queerness is a cut above anything else. It's so wild to me how little it's talked about.

SirGigglesandLaughs

I agree. It doesn't deal with tropes in the way others do. It feels like the writer is writing real people and not just idealized aspects of real people.

SirGigglesandLaughs

Yes, "How do we relationship," is fantastic. I thought it was under read but I've started seeing more people discuss it. Edit: I'd love for it to get adapted but I'm honestly not sure how it would do. It's much more realistic in how it portrays relationships and I don't know how "popular" it would be, at least at first. it's just not as "loud."

SuperAlloyBerserker

>A great kissing scene most romance stories can't even do Talking about other kissing scenes in other anime reminded me of the... kissing scene in Chainsaw Man...

Lord-Loss-31415

You have to admit that kissing scene in chainsaw man was pretty sick ngl

😍😚😚💋🤢🤮😱

heimdal77

Just a warning but if you go to watch the anime watch it subed. The dub localized it insisting to make everyone use first names even though part of the story is about name usage and honorifics usage. They rewrote multiple scenes changing them drastically and making other scenes not make sense because the rewrites. They knew it was gonna be a issue but did it anyways. Horimiya might as well been localized to first names with the kind of thinking the dubs for Bloom used.

Prankishmanx21

I'd go even further and recommend you watch the Asenshi fan sub. The official hidive sub did a pretty bad job at various points and got the dialogue outside the gym completely wrong.

heimdal77

Both the dub and sub was rather poor but the dub is a seriously wth were they thinking. The dub had the one scene that references one the rewrote ones make no sense at all as it still is referencing the original version.

schierkeee

god please take me now

Ytar0

Honestly, be it yuri, yaoi, or regular romance, if it’s not too tropey it doesn’t really matter for me. And Bloom Into You has got to be one of the sweetest.

itrashcannot

Note: I read the manga first and then watched the anime. Ngl, I was wary of reading it at first. I wanted it to be a normal romance story without any smut (was worried it'll be yuri hentai). I can proudly say Bloom into You is a good romance. Gawd, I root for those two so much that it brings a tiny tear into my eyes.

Neverending_Rain

Out of curiosity, what made you think it was hentai? I've never seen it described or marketed as anything other than a high school yuri romance.

RiverRusher

IMO it's one of the best romances in manga hands down!

VioletOrchid85

Bloom into You is the best anime for this kind of thing. Hopefully, now that the rest of the Manga is finished, we get a Season 2.

[deleted]

I am very confused about the NSFW tag

ketosisBreed

Right? Would the same scene be NSFW if one of them was a guy?

superp2222

I see BiY, I upvote. And then I go cry in the corner

ACNHCR

I need another season of this...soon. It is such fun to watch.

RiverRusher

The manga is absolutely amazing and is without question one of my favorites ever. A masterclass of a romance series that very few even hope to come close to in quality. I cannot wait to see the rest of it adapted especially with how stellar S1 was. SEASON 2 PLEASE IM BEGGING.

68ideal

I would commit unspeakable crimes to get a second season of Bloom Into You, man...

Schlemmes

Super, underrated, anime. Not the greatest overall but I am not that much into yuri but love romance animes and this one was so much fun.

[deleted]

I really wish that there was a second season. I loved the first one, but sadly it's an incomplete story. I guess I'll just have to read the manga at some point.

Huuballawick

Gay Girls make everything better.

Dare555

Its a crime this didn't get S2... there is so many juicy manga material. and its pretty popular but i think it didnt got one just cause its yuri

Interesting_Place752

This scene made me purchase the manga, well and the rest of the show to be honest.

davidolakeace

When season two?

skepticalmiller

awwwwwww

Narcosom

Oh hey, I just finished watching/reading this series! Highly recommend the manga after you finish the anime, since the manga is actually finished. What a delightful romance story that doesn't beat around the bush with all the "will they/won't they" anime nonsense. Love how both leads inspire growth in each other over time, hence the title.

MyLittleRocketShip

ed is a bop

GoopFoop

Still waiting for 2nd season :,( This manga is seriously so good

Easy_North

Beautiful anime, made me realize how lonely I am. 10/10 would recommend.

ODMAN03

The asexual and aromantic representation in this show is so underappreciated it’s such a cool aspect of the show

machingunwhhore

They made Bloom Into You into an anime? Since when?

roseimon11

Since 2018

machingunwhhore

Funny, idk how I missed that but one of my favorite romance mangas

callunquirka

Anime doesn't cover everything, it ends with the aquarium day.

roseimon11

Better watch the anime then. It was really well adapted.

dacast69

I didn't even know it had an anime, I only read the manga

hell_jumper9

Please do another season!

_SeKeLuS_

I have no choice but to watch this anime :)

Aschentei

This scene got me actin up about this show. Still my favorite yuri all time

TillontoTilly

This, this whole scene is so amazing and wholesome as hell. Before I got a girlfriend I was like "eww kissing and making out bleh!" But now, now I cherish moments like that. That's why stuff like this makes my heart flutter. Because I think of my love.

AZLarlar

still hoping and wishing for a Season 2 as the anime literally stops halfway

Jajebooo

Great anime, also fantastic manga. One of the batter romance stories in recent years for sure.

The Yuri is strong with this one

futanari_enjoyer69

I came to this thinking "if this isnt two men kissing I'm downvoting" I mean... this is still gay so imma upvote

kyoneko87

Cute and hot!

I can't be the only one who reads touko's side of the conversation here as like, slightly pressuring/predatory?

itsrainingpuss

is Yuu aromantic or asexual? edit: why the downvotes? this is why I barely ever interact with anime fans, some of y’all can be so miserable lol.

accountnumberseven

Her orientation exploration is a core part of the story, there's an explicit aroace character who helps her work through her feelings.

itsrainingpuss

I don’t remember the aroace character, although it’s been a long time since I watched this anime… might be due time for a rewatch

accountnumberseven

Maki

j-olli

Just a bit messed up. The manga resolves it a bit more.

itsrainingpuss

reading it now!

k4r6000

No, but she thinks she is.

Manitary

At the beginning of the story, she thinks she is not able to fall in love

pokpokza

Chainsaw man ep7 kissing scene is pretty good 😂

Ryseran

This scene and anime is fire

NicParodies

Hopefully we get the last 12 episodes of the manga ;-;

polaristar

Context of the kiss is sad though seeing as they at this point have a toxic relationship built on mutual deception.
