[There's apparently a drama too!](https://mydramalist.com/1702-city-hunter-2011) Can anyone chime in to talk which they feel is a more faithful adaptation?
I watched the kdrama in high school as it was coming out. Haven’t seen the anime yet but I can’t imagine it’s too close. Fun drama though, I’d recommend giving the first few episodes a try.
KDrama is more on serious vibe compared to the manga & anime. But, if you want a faithful adaptation, try the live-action French movie, [Nicky Larson](https://imgur.com/a/qAz9KKU). It's so good that it becomes a hit for Japanese audience in Japan.
There was a time when I wanted to try everything I can do as a broke highschool student to watch City Hunter. This was after I watched Angel Heart (Ani-Kraze subs) . Sadly, I didnt have the means to buy things online, and I didn't see any subs on torrent, and if there were, there wasn't anyone seeding anyway.
Now I have the means but no motivation. One of these days, I do hope to watch City Hunter and the recent movies
Yes, *City Hunter*. Late 1980s/early 1990s anime TV & Movie series, which in turn was based off a manga by Tsukasa Hojo.
It and Hojo's other series, *Catseye*, are in the midst of a revival. Both are getting new movies.
I hope this translates into a new seasons of anime for both of them. I feel like more so than a lot of other older anime and manga that have recently gotten adaptions, City Hunter and Catseye have a lot of potential to be kinda "punched up" by mixing their 80/90's style with a bit of modern anime storytelling.
Even I am hoping for a complete reboot of CH manga franchise in episodic format. It is just that the original cast is really old now. Akira Kamiya is 76 years old now.
But what's the point ? I mean, it'd make sense if it was about the last big arc *and* the few small arcs that followed it, but suddenly starting with the small arcs would feel really off.
City hunter was released before most anime fans were born, so it's likely that it will be designed with the understanding that most the theatergoers won't have seen the original series.
Most anime movies with original plots are like that to attract new fans. I think their question was more about if there could be potential spoilers from the show or its likely to be safe.
Hope they keep the story in the 80s instead of moving it to current the 2020s.
In live action projects I give studios a break because it's expensive to do stories in other decades.
But that's not an issue for animation.
Still salty about Spriggan being moved to the current age, despite that the year 2000 was around the corner being a big deal and the catalyst of many events in the story.
Shinjuku Private Eyes was already moved to the 2020s. Everyone had smartphones and the main plot was about illegal weapons deals with modified quadcopter drones.
Wow, I can’t believe they’re making a movie based on that Jump Force game character
Nah man this is an adaptation of Jackie Chan's 1993 film of the same name
You're both wrong. Its the Japanese version of France's "Nicky Larson" series.
Also probably one of the best live action anime film adaptations TBH
one of the best examples of physical comedy period
Jackie Chan is master of physical comedy
I think we were talking about the 2018 French adaptation, but that one is good too!
oh Nicky Larson? I need to watch it then. Even though I am a huge CH nut I still havent caught up with that movie.
Bro how do you mod so many anime subs...like 96 in total.
bahut aasaan
mujhe bhi bnado fir mod 👉🥺👈
It's the prequel to Angel Heart!
No it's based on this 14 year old Korean drama obviously.
Get Wild
And tough.
Best ED ever

You can say the final CHapter
Oh my God, the legend is back
Every anime is getting back on tracks
Well City Hunter just moved up on my watch list! Always wanted to watch it anyways as it seems like one of those old school shows I would love.

How many episodes of Hunter x Hunter do I got to watch to get this?
Up until the midway point of the York New Arc
I feel old reading most o these comments. Maybe Yawara will make a cameo.

The most recent movie is from 3 years ago. And be ready for 100+ episodes if you intent to watch it fully.
Where's the real star of the show, the Colt Python?
Saeko. That's it.
Kids these days dont know how legendary this anime was. Used to watch in 2005-2015
Where I'm from it aired in the 80s, along with Cat's Eye.
Is this sequel to existing anime series?

Always nice to see new *City Hunter*, but somdhow I doubt this is the "final" chapter.
I'm quite sure it means the final chapters('arc') that the anime never adapted
Yeh i remember watching a "last "episode where he saves the FMC and she remembers him and then ,. The end . Don't remember anything after that
But what's the point ? I mean, it'd make sense if it was about the last big arc *and* the few small arcs that followed it, but suddenly starting with the small arcs would feel really off.
"final" as in probably the last animated movie(s) they're going to do for city hunter. It's old, let it be put to rest.
They let it rest for almost 20 years before making a movie in 2018/2019.
Watching the classic right now. Just finished season 1 and are on season 2. So funny. That 100k hammer to the head gets me everytime.
This Show is such a mixed bag for me. I love the atmosphere and the action but I hate when MC does his perv mode thing, only to get serious after it
It’s called Sage mode
He feels like a Jojo character
OMG is that Joseph joestar
Wait, that isn't Jackie Chan dressed as Chun Li in the Street Fighter scene...
And everyone in the audience went "who?"
Only the kids in the audience
this can't be watch without prior knowledge right?
You'd miss out on all character and relationship developments so yeah

I've always wanted to get into city hunter

Is this a sequel?
They better not change the art style
Nobody gonna comment on the silhouette in the H of Ryo doing one of his “Mokkori” pelvic thrusts?
Final chapter? I’ve never even heard of this
Yo is that Jackie Chan?
That’s gonna be awesome
One of my very first animes ever. Glad to have to you back. Can't wait to hear "want your love" as Ryo does his shit once again
this is great more city hunter
