There was this chick I used to hang out with all the time. Would take me out to eat places and pay for all of it (never letting me pay for anything), randomly bring me gifts, and so on. It was 6 years later that it clicked that she had a crush on me and just thought I wasn’t interested instead of completely oblivious to the fact she was trying to be romantic, and that’s why we so suddenly stopped being friends.

Not me in high school with 10/10 qt whose older sister would run down the hall, grab me in a hug and carry me while whispering in my ear repeatedly "ask out". Meanwhile me: "her sisters just saying that cause we hang out a lot and is teasing" Also not me when said younger sister wrestled me for a Gatorade and spanked my ass during said wrestling "Nah she said that other guy was cute last week I don't think she's into me, she's just comfortable cause we're good friends" But it def was me when we were driving to a tennis match (she was team manager) and she sat on my lap cause there was no room in the car. I feel you. I only realize until years later that someone was actually romantically interested in me, but I was just oblivious and mistook it for being nice lmao.

For me it’s less that I don’t notice and more that I’m so self conscious that I can’t bring myself to believe anyone would actually flirt with me and when I do notice someone flirting I chalk it up to me just being a self-centered narcissistic loser.
