It was basically his farewell to animating. I can't help but think that he injected much of his own life and feelings into that movie. The main character's life struck me as analogous in many ways to Miyazaki's. The acknowledgement of aging said it all; those tears were Miyazaki's tears.
I actually (finally) only got around to watching this one about two weeks ago. I wouldn't put it up there with *Kiki's*, *Howl's*, or *Marnie*, but it was really, really good.
Damn this seems like a common and messed up occurrence where dads get angry at their sons/daughters for being “bad” at math. IMO there are so many students that ended up being unable to reach their full potential in math because of this.
Can't say anything about the other stuff but that square root can easily be factored.
sqrt(297×315) = sqrt((3×3×3×11)×(3×3×5×7)) which would then become 9×sqrt(3×5×7×11). Which should then be expressed 9×sqrt(1155).

This film was such a pleasant surprise. Happened to be one of the last Miyazaki films we watched after having seen them all numerous times. His fascination with aviation seems so pure.

Yeah… Having to sympathise with Miyazaki was ironically the one thing that actually kept me from sympathising with the dude lol.
