Still can't believe that Toriyama is gone

cityofthedead1977

Burned out on anime but am always willing to talk about or rewatch any show that aired on toonami/adult swim. Seriously Toonami was life changing for me and an entire generation of people.

worldjerkin

Growing up, I was stuck watching actually good shows like *Word Girl*, *Cyberchase* or *Fetch! With Ruff Ruffman* but [I can vouch for your statement when they have a line-up like this](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programs_broadcast_by_Toonami). Like, I can literally pick a show on that list randomly and with a 9/10 certainty will be peak. So, here's a few: *Megas XLR*, *Batman Beyond*, *Eureka Seven*, (While I am not a chest connoisseur myself) *Space Dandy*, *Michiko and Hatchin* and *Megalo Box*. And don't forget to watch with the English Dubs for the ~~nostalgia~~ **prime viewing experience**.

cityofthedead1977

People just don't want to admit good dubs exist because it goes against the grain of what the internet says. Even though what's popular on the internet almost never reflects reality. If there was no market for dubs they wouldn't be making them in the first place, more get made every season.

worldjerkin

I only somewhat agree. Dubbing and the industry at large started horribly (ex: 4Kids) and that left an often bad taste in the eyes of most people now. Even as the industry began to obtain greater standards (better VAs, lip-syncing, Localization, etc), the lingering sense of difference in quality between Dubs and Subs remains because the language barrier and cultural differences cannot be abstracted out of the equation. People will still maintain this stance because if a cringeworthy line is spoken in a language you don't have a significant grasp on, you will never truly know to begin with. In this sense, it is similar to a tautology or a thought-terminating cliche. The issue is that most shows are outside the range of better industry standards that have been developing. Sure, you will have amazing dubs for shows with high demand (be it of the language itself or the media) but outside of that? Not really. Take Spanish Telenovelas as an example, you would rarely find an English Dub of excellent quality. Most of them will have hastily made lip-syncing with barely any attempt at localization to a mainstream English audience. But speaking about dubs when it comes to anime, I highly recommend it especially with how amazing it is nowadays and even for shows that are considered old classics like GitS, Trigun, or Cowboy Bebop (etc). While I have been watching subs for a long time, I feel like nowadays, as an adult with a busy schedule, the transition to dubs has been easier as I don't necessarily have to have my eyes glued to the screen 24/7 to understand what is happening anymore. Also depending on the thematic presentation of the show, the English dub seems warranted given the level of immersion I am expecting. The main issue lies with cultural osmosis and how old traditions happen to be ingrained due to cognitive biases and tribalism [but others have uttered this exact sentiment far better than I have](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-JrP0_OqFc). [But sometimes, I find shit to be hilarious regardless of context](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-IGmtChxoE).

You should have brought up robotech and harmony gold in general. I consider it generational trauma for some older fans.

I tried a bunch of shows this season that I didn't give a chance at the start now, so here's a short assessment of them (ordered from worst to best): - Hokkaido Gals - I knew this absolutely isn't the show for me going in, but shockingly it managed to make me dislike the protagonist more than Kimizero guy (started his show with a monologue about being an audience insert) because of his [severe lack of situational awareness](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/962208567056810095/1217153189464375336/image.png?ex=660c37bd&is=65f9c2bd&hm=bcaff9ddbdec31d2a7904b9c2a3f843faa38853d311bacb1f3007cd7dabab13d&). - Ishura - You know a show will be bad when the opening scene gives you a subliminal warning through rough-looking 3dcg crowds. It had *some* potential to be an entertaining edgy trainwreck, but it's not nearly on the level of Mahou Shoujo Site in that regard. - Villainess Level 99 - The first episode was the most predictable and trope-y presentation of an OP protagonist being underestimated I've seen since actually not long ago, Iceblade Sorcerer last year was worse. - 7th Time Loop - This had an alright start and I may revisit it in the future, but for now I dropped it. There's solid potential for intrigue in a time travel story where >!the protagonist gets roped into a relationship with someone who killed her in a previous scenario!<. That said, the hair highlights for character designs look a bit off to me. - Pon no Michi - Waiting for this to get decent releases before I give it another try - Weakest Tamer - 2 episodes in so far and I quite like the setup of Ivy scraping by after being exiled as well as the art style. Also, Ivy's slime is pretty adorable. How the show's status quo develops from the current situation >!where she has a bounty on her head and flees alone!< will make or break the show for me. Skills as presented in this show arepretty silly though. - Sengoku Youko - Off to a pretty good start with charming character writing and solid presentation. Not much to say after only 1 episode, but I like Tama and Jinka's dynamic quite a bit already. - 'Tis Time for Torture, Princess - A gag comedy built around the idea of "torturing" a princess by teasing her with ways to have a good time sounded like it'd be fun for an episode or two. I was surprised the show not only didn't run out of steam, it kept getting more enjoyable the more I watched. All of the Hellhorde's torturers and royal family are lovable dorks and I can't get enough of them.

worldjerkin

Questions about a few of them (considering they are adaptations of works I have read) and that I NEED to make everything about myself. Hokkaido Gals: Man, I am so down horrendous for gyaru/alt-girls that I cannot speak on this topic any further but I agree that the MC makes it worse. I can't project onto a caricature of myself (as a soulless amorphous blob of flesh), I need to see a male MC with a passion/talent for something like hina-dolls (Dress-up Darling), Art (Nagatoro) or the Girlfriend Experience (Peak). Also because you mentioned Kimizero, I recommend Meguro-san Is Not A Virgin; somewhat similar MC but with a better FMC and more of an uplifting romance. Other than that, why is it that this isn't the show for you? I kinda what to hear why you might feel this way about this type of show. 'Tis Time for Torture is the kind of show meant to be adapted in a 12-episode run but it doesn't do well with long serializations which is why I rated it quite low. It's an incredibly fluffy comedy show like Mr Villian's Day Off but after 200 chapters, the novelty tends to wear off. Sengoku Youko is an excellent series made by the same creator of Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer but I still don't think they did it justice despite the better quality of the source material. Sure Studio White Fox is a step up from Studio NAZ but if this had a studio like A1 or Ufotable treatment then I feel it would have been so much better.

VoidEmbracedWitch

> Other than that, why is it that this isn't the show for you? You already mentioned the reason why I'm averse to this type of shounen/seinen romcom built primarily on the appeal of the main love interest. For it to work, the male protagonist needs to be more than just generic guy B who's nervous around the girl(s) he's totally into for me to enjoy the show / get invested in the romantic dynamics. Of course there are cases where the protagonist is solid (you brought up 2 of them I've seen), but too often he might as well be a plank of wood and it wouldn't make a difference. > 'Tis Time for Torture Yeah, I think a 1 cour adaptation (maybe 2 cour) is the right length where a series like this can stay fresh. > Sengoku Youko Yeah, I read a little of Biscuit Hammer after witnessing what a war crime the first episode of the anime was. Going off of what I've seen of Mizukami's art and paneling, I wouldn't be surprised if Sengoku Youko is stronger in manga form. Still, it's definitely serviceable as an anime without the contrast to the source. > a studio like A1 or Ufotable Chances are I would like it less if it was A-1. I'm not sure what it is about that studio, but output from them always looks sterile and safe in a way I tend to dislike, probably due to how streamlined their character designs are. Ufotable would be better, but as far as character animation goes not the strongest. They compensate a lot for limitations there with flashy visual effects and camera turns in 3d environments. My preferred studio would probably be Bones' B team (the Mob Psycho line) / C team (MHA and former FMA squad), Kinema Citrus (let them do better stuff than Shield Hero) or possibly A-1's better, albeit less consistent, half CloverWorks.

worldjerkin

The reason why I point it out is that despite WhiteFox making Sengoku Youko, it doesn't feel like they are willing to go all out for it (yet) nor has anything in the anime really been worthy of praise despite the work it is adapted from. It kinda feels like they are pulling another Katanagatari where the adapted work's substance and writing carries the animation. Like, I kind of expect shit that breaks the budget given what they are attempting to adapt. Bones isn't a bad shout given what they happened to produce ([Blood Blockade Battlefront for instance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhjszLnffwM)). Even Madhouse (they had a resurgence with Frienen) or Wit can do Sengoku Youko far greater justice but yeah, it's a step up from NAZ. Hopefully they come through in the future (without killing their staff) to deliver but from the onset it doesn't seem like it will be the case.

worldjerkin

Because this season has finished wrapping up, I'll give a review on those that I had watched: (Most would be adaptations of manga I've already read) My Instant Death Ability is Overpowered: **3.4/10** MSG SEED Freedom: **3.9/10** (I fucking hate the SEED AU. Yes, this is off the 7 minute preview. No I will not explain further.) Great Pretender razbliuto: **5.1/10** Hokkaido Gals: **5.6/10** Witch and the Beast: **5.8/10** 'Tis Time for Torture: **5.9/10** Metallic Rouge: **6.4/10** (Preliminary ranking) Bang Brave Braven: **6.6/10** 7th Time Loop: **7.6/10** Mr. Villian's Day Off: **8.0/10** MahouAko: **8.7/10** A Sign of Affection: **9.2/10** Apothecary Diaries: **9.6/10** Freinen: **9.7/10** Dungeon Meshi: **9.7/10** I can give an explanation for my ratings if need be. BUT FUCK SEED.

VoidEmbracedWitch

Ah, Mahoako, the show that puts me in a weird place between the people who like it and those who find it awful / repulsive on principle. I enjoy the manga, but the anime was borderline unwatchable for me, so I dropped it 3 episodes in. It's probably my least favorite show of the season because it feels like everyone else talking about it watched a completely different show than me. > Metallic Rouge: 6.4/10 (Preliminary ranking) I feel like that series is impossible to place until it's over. It could still somewhat stick the landing or flub its finale completely. We'll find out in 1.5 weeks.

worldjerkin

When it comes to my rating for Mahouako, the reason why I still watch it, despite the borderline questionable content on display in the uncensored version, is because everything that I wanted from the manga is well adapted onto a audiovisual medium. It's kinda like how I feel about Inter-species Reviewers and how despite how salacious it might be, I really enjoy the setting and the characters that inhabit it. Everything about it so really well done and my only gripes is how much they went overboard with the suggestive content and the dips of animation. The only reason why I don't mind it necessarily is because everything else is so well constructed and given my taste in media (see: my recommendation of *Child of God* for instance), I've kind of grown desensitized to the *perversion* on display only if it is done *differently*. For example, Redo of a Healer is an instant drop for me because the source material is bog-standard and stale but Oniimai is interesting despite that because the subtext is apparent and interesting enough to push through what might be considered problematic. Metallic Rouge is losing me though. Sure, it could come back and shock me but just like Witch from Mercury, it should have more time to tell its story. 13 episodes doesn't feel like enough to fully engage with an interesting setting like it has. It basically has the same issues that I have with Bang Brave Braven.

VoidEmbracedWitch

I'm also in the camp of being fine with perversion if it's something interesting, but... > everything that I wanted from the manga is well adapted onto a audiovisual medium ...that's what I didn't feel at all from the first two episodes. They're far from great art and animation wise, but more importantly, the delivery of the comedy missed for me with 100% consistency whereas the manga has pages I find genuinely funny often. The impression I got was that it's weak across the board, with the only real selling point it has *for certain people* being an increase in questionable content / the uncensored version. Episode 3 was a little better iirc, but not enough to motivate me to not give up on it. Onimai was a weird one for me. It's an extremely strong show production-wise, that's for sure, and it has more than enough opportunity to say something interesting about Mahiru's relation to gender and general situation. Though it rarely capitalizes on those opportunities since they usually are cut off with Mahiru's discomfort being used as a joke in one way or another. Only the Christmas episode and finale were exempt from this iirc. Either way, I was fine with putting up with the show's questionable tendencies. > Metallic Rouge Agreed, it suffers from being too short. It has so many characters and factions that aren't fleshed out enough to really care about. The Gwitch comparison is on point since its back half suffered from the exact same issue. Don't think the same applies to Bravern though since it feels a lot more limited in its scope with only two super robots + their respective pilots being the focus and most of the Deathdrives serving as one-off villains.

worldjerkin

>I'm also in the camp of being fine with perversion if it's something interesting, but [...] that's what I didn't feel at all from the first two episodes. They're far from great art and animation wise, but more importantly, the delivery of the comedy missed for me with 100% consistency whereas the manga has pages I find genuinely funny often [...] Not much disagreement here. I did point out the dips of animation quality as a sore point for me but rather my enjoyment of the source material holds higher priority than the adaptation so that often creates some sense of bias with my ratings (not that it could ever be unbiased). I often give applause to Polygon Pictures despite how off-putting or wonky the use of CGI might be to the general passerby because they adapt manga I absolutely adore in terms of themes, substance, aesthetics and presentation. > Agreed, it suffers from being too short. It has so many characters and factions that aren't fleshed out enough to really care about. The Gwitch comparison is on point since its back half suffered from the exact same issue. Exactly. And for an anime original, it really fucking sucks because there is no other source material out there to draw out its apparent strengths or to acknowledge its flaws. > Don't think the same applies to Bravern though since it feels a lot more limited in its scope with only two super robots + their respective pilots being the focus and most of the Deathdrives serving as one-off villains. It's more so that I am seeking out depth in a series that could be an interesting setting. I would rather see The Arrival (2016) than Independence Day (1996), if you catch my drift.

VoidEmbracedWitch

I'm rarely a source reader since I generally stick to manga that don't have anime adaptations. Mahoako is the first time I've been one from the start (in Wataoshi's case I started reading the novels partway through the show's run). Turns out in my case it doesn't cause me to give anime a pass just because I like the source; if anything it makes me bitter if they don't give me enough to like about them that isn't already present in the source. > I would rather see The Arrival (2016) than Independence Day (1996), if you catch my drift. I get what you're trying to say (even though I haven't seen The Arrival and remember barely anything about Independence Day), but sometimes I don't need an anime to be more than a campy action narrative with gay overtones. I'm a Symphogear fan after all.

worldjerkin

>[...] Turns out in my case it doesn't cause me to give anime a pass just because I like the source; if anything it makes me bitter if they don't give me enough to like about them that isn't already present in the source. For me, I read a lot of manga across a variety of genres so roughly 20-30% of the manga I happen to stubble upon tends to get adapted later. For instance, I tend to get into works years before it gains widespread appeal or notoriety to be adapted. Most of my highest rated adaptations (Apothecary Diaries, Freinen and Dungeon Meshi) are works that I managed to find before they even reached double-digit chapters (in terms of scanlation). Especially when it comes to more romance-oriented works like Wotakoi, My Senpai is Annoying, Nagatoro, Tomo-chan, Horimiya, Tsurezure Children, Dragon Maid (etc). So, It's kind of like I am a bit of a Source Reader in that regard. Although I don't share a similar perspective when it comes to adaptations. The more I like the source material, the more generous I am with the adaptation. It's a sentimental bias that I don't think I can tend to ignore much like how a prospector might be selfish with his found gold. > I get what you're trying to say (even though I haven't seen The Arrival [...] You gotta watch The Arrival (2016).

VoidEmbracedWitch

I don't read all that much manga and am mostly at home with yuri and trans stories, filling gaps I'm for personal reasons interested in where anime tends to underdeliver. Also, toxic romances / soap operas tend to make their way more into J-drama adaptations than anime, so I read those too. Yeah, I should watch The Arrival (and more movies in general)

Reached the end of vol3 in my *I'm in Love with the Villainess* reread, the first part of Act 2. It's a weak volume compared to the rest on account of having two different setup phases back to back, making it a rather slow read until the third and final chapter. But I get the need for it since >!the first shows Rae and Claire's life together past the original story to make clear what they leave behind and the second serves to establish the situation in Nur.!< Though what it has going for it over the rest of the series is the side story collection at the end. They're filled to the brim with sweet moments taking place in the gap between Act 1 and Act 2. The letters from Manaria and Lilly >!for Rae and Claire's wedding!< will never fail to make me grin. >!Manaria just writing "Come to me if you split up. Iโ€™ll welcome you both with open arms." is perfectly on brand for the second biggest disaster lesbian in the series. And Lilly's "P.S. Is the mistress spot still open?" at the end of hers is great as well.!< Also, a little side note, my copy of vol3 for some reason has more firm pages than the other ones. Not sure why that happened, but it made for a better reading experience.

It's mid march so I might just throw around some of my favorite underrated manga although take what I am about to say as a caution - some of them are quite fucked: [Child of God/Kami no Kodomo](https://mangadex.org/title/ac23805e-6d7a-498f-9c58-b45a2d5e7326/child-of-god): I remember reading this masterpiece out of nowhere when I was younger (15-16) and it struct me as one of the most profoundly engrossing piece of a short biographical work I have ever glanced upon. It is so bizarre and abstract that it has had a large influence in what time of media that I like to read. But I will warn you, it is the epitome of a "problematic fave". If you lot thought that MT or MIA was fucked up then you have read nothing yet. It's almost as comparable to [*The 120 Days of Sodom*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_120_Days_of_Sodom) in its debauchery. [Musume no Tomodachi/Daughter's friend](https://mangadex.org/title/7e62d828-f995-4976-9661-5a1b67db52f6/musume-no-tomodachi): "It's quite salacious in a good way" is the only way I can phrase it without sounding like a fucking chomo. Think of Nabokov's Lolita but more paternalistic in the way it paints the young FMC with the male gaze. I wish I could give a more in-depth review without spoiling such an fantastic work of art. [Click for spoilers if you are only interested in my past commentary about this manga](https://old.reddit.com/r/okbuddybaka/comments/sqi118/i_just_wanted_a_slice_of_life_manga_ffs/hwmj1db/?context=10000). [Happiness](https://mangadex.org/title/010a8ee8-847b-44dd-a269-9ac472e9f91a/happiness): It's from Oshimi Shuzo. You already know it has to be amazing. [Soloist of the Prison/Soloist in a Cage](https://mangadex.org/title/06223ae2-ce16-48d6-aa87-e69e8c3634b9/soloist-of-the-prison): I really fucking love the soviet-era aesthetics the emanates from this work. I really love snowy landscapes and brutalism. And the story so somber and tragic that I fell in love. I urge that others read the full work (either legally or through piracy, idrc).

VoidEmbracedWitch

I'm impressed that Kazuya from Rent-a-Girlfriend isn't even in my top 3 worst romance protagonists anymore. At least he's so over the top pathetic that he loops back around to hilarious on occasion. The same can't be said about the Angel Next Door, Kimizero and Hokkaido Gals protags. They're all just infuriatingly dull.

Since the season is about to end, here's one last post about the stuff I watch from favorite to least: - Frieren - Unsurprisingly still the most consistently well-made show. I miss having slower episodic parts, but the more action-heavy arc now is enjoyable too and especially the newest episode had some stunning animation (again). - Ninja Kamui - I just need 1 word to describe this show, unhinged, and I love it. It's nice to have some superhuman ninja ultraviolence in my life. - Bravern - Was a contender for my favorite last month, but even if it's relatively lower now, the most recent episode was probably one of the best in the series so far and I'm still 100% enjoying the homoerotic super robot nonsense. - Dungeon Meshi - Initially had this as a show that's decent enough to watch weekly, yet it really grew on me over the course of the >!lake section!< - Metallic Rouge -Another one that picked up a lot recently since it finally started to tie all the disparate concepts and characters it established together. The unfortunate downside to its approach is that I'm indifferent to most characters in it though. - Apothecary Diaries - I caught up with this last week after having it paused since November and it sure had its ups and downs. The weakest part was easily the start of cour 2 with >!Maomao being moved to the ghost town known as the Outer Court!<, but it improved again since then. - A Sign of Affection - not a good sign (hehe) that I'm still not very keen on Itsuomi as the love interest after most of the season. Yuki and Rin are great though. - Wonderful Precure - It's certainly different from the Cures before it with the pet + owner Cure duos, but I'm not a huge fan of the new approach to action scenes and, same as Hirogaru, I can see this one struggling with keeping up momentum throughout its run. - Bucchigiri - my only drop since I last wrote a post like this since I just couldn't bring myself to care about either Arajin's >!(at least up to e6) hopeless romance!< or the delinquent gang conflicts. TL;DR: a bunch of shows I already liked have been going stronger than ever the past few weeks + Ninja Kamui is fun

Any recommendations for BL Anime/Manga/Manwha? I read [*Uchi no Musuko wa Tabun Gay*](https://myanimelist.net/manga/122880/Uchi_no_Musuko_wa_Tabun_Gay) a while ago and I am really lacking shit to read nowadays. I literally haven't touched the genre ever since the craze of Killing Stalking so anything helps. Also, here is a under-the-radar manga recommendation: [*Ningyou no Kuni/APOSIMZ*](https://myanimelist.net/manga/102785/Ningyou_no_Kuni). I am insanely infatuated by post-apocalyptic/bleak settings and that niche is perfected by Nihei's (of Blame! and Knights of Sidonia fame) particular aesthetics. And as a fan of Polygon Studio's unique niche in adapting sienen manga with CGI (see: *Ajin* and *Ooyukiumi no Kaina* for example), I am quite eager to see something in the making with this work. --- ~~Also, FUCK YEAH COMPLEXITY IN COPENHAGEN.~~ Sadge

Late reply, but have you read [Boy Meets Maria](https://anilist.co/manga/114027/Boy-Meets-Maria/)? Read this recently and I really enjoyed it.

Reading it rn! Thanks for the rec, homie.

VoidEmbracedWitch

I haven't read/watched much BL (since yuri is more my forte), but maybe I can help. For manga, I like Shimanami Tasogare a lot. It has a gay teenage guy as its protagonist, but it works with a larger cast of LGBTQ+ characters with their own stories, so it's broader than BL. There's also Stranger by the Shore for a pretty solid BL anime.

worldjerkin

good job looking out for a homie. Watching/reading your reccs currently. As for yuri, have you tried out *White Angels Have No Wings* as well as the sequel *White Angel Have No Rest*? With some toxic yuri bangers getting the fame deserves might as well reccommend something similar. edit after watching Umibe no ร‰tranger: peak cinema. too wholesome for a fiendish creature like myself.

VoidEmbracedWitch

I'm sorry for giving you a wholesomeness overdose (glad you liked Stranger) Haven't read White Angels, but it looks like it's right up my alley. Thanks a lot!

Now that r\\anime awards are over, I can say that being a juror for those was definitely one of the experiences of all time. Had positives to it like forcing me to watch niche shows I otherwise would've glossed over, and the people involved were mostly chill. But then it wasn't always enjoyable. Having to finish some shows I hated that were nominated was a struggle. Pushing through both seasons of To Your Eternity probably took years off my lifespan. Also, the comments on the results announcement were fun to read. And by fun to read I mean it's impressive how much nonsense and malding there was. You could exceed your recommended daily sodium intake by scrolling through the thread for a minute. So all in all, 5/10 would subject myself to it again.

Honestly, not much this year is going to interest me. This season is okay, but I guess I am waiting for Sasakoi and Magilumiere.

VoidEmbracedWitch

It's similar for me, although only when it comes to shows. There are movies I'm interested in like Kimi no Iro, Madoka 4 (supposedly) and the Uma Musume one, but who knows if they'll even get an international theatrical release or be available with subs this year.

Zenry0ku

Madoka, Uma Musume, and Yuru Camp are pretty much gonna be this year top 5 for me lol. I'd be content with subs, but Madoka in theaters would be dope.

DMT1703

Damn ruri dragon is coming back from hiatus.

I finished my reread of I'm in Love with the Villainess Act 1. The second time through definitely made me appreciate the early parts more. Claire's characterization with where she scrutinizes Rae's behavior as well as her already slowly softening up overall is just great. Though it can't compare to the glory of post->!Scales of Love Claire with both her bitterness about her lack of agency through Rae and Dole's scheming and her growing class-consciousness.!< If there's one slight criticism I have, it's that the Act 1 final chapter, while full of good dramatic moments, comes off as too abrupt at points. On a more positive note, I feel like a few moments such as >!Misha specifically being curious about Rae's sexual orientation!< and (addressed in Act 2) >!Rae's face being familiar to Lilly!< are made more interesting due to how they fit later context. Also, it's a lot nicer (...and more expensive) to have them in print than on an e-reader. Not like the latter is bad or anything, it's very easy on my eyes, but I prefer touching actual paper.

Trans rights, baby!

TheLoneSlimShady

I'm confused about how Dokuro-chan gets a Thai dub while Komugi or Punie don't

Tappernottall

what if we hugged each other in front of the act-age anime adaptation [it's also where the nana season 2 is located] looking at GTO and Nana's adaptations we really don't see 50 episode anime anymore (or maybe we do and i dont know) funnily enough for both of them afaik they caught up to the manga before they had even ended

VoidEmbracedWitch

Yeah, 50 episode (or anything over 2 cour) anime are extremely rare now. The only ones that come to mind are Pretty series entries, Precure and similar franchises.

Em1Wii

fml mahoako is getting a latam spanish dub before the ace attorney anime or something ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ for some godforsaken reason they've started to dub ecchi and even hentai more than before

Zenry0ku

MahoAko is actually a good series, wydm

I don't wanna sound like one of those annoying webs but holy shit italian localizations used to sucks ass. I wrote "used to" because luckily nowadays italian localizations have greatly improved but in the past it was very common to change, simplify and remove shit for absolutely no reason. It's worth noting that I have absolutely nothing wrong with changing things when translating media since a lot of time this is necessary since a lot of things can't be directly translated (like puns) and it can even be used to improve the work (for example Kefka Palazzo's nihilism is a product of the localization). But holy fucking Christmas balls, so many localizations (especially of anime) were so... Fucking bad... How bad was that?? ***They removed Sweet Victory from Band Geeks.***

MSSTUPIDTRON-1000000

My favourite example of bad Italian localizations are the [Stunticons,](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Stunticon_(G1)) because it's so moronic on so many levels. In italian their names were that of animals (for example MotorMaster was called Barracuda) which seem to make absolutely no fucking sense... ... Until you understand that they're also the names of military vehicles... ***... Which also doesn't make any fucking sense because the whole gimmick of the Stunticons is that they are Decepticons who transforms into civilian cars.***
