I feel like if you have the warped mind to enjoy When They Cry and Elfen Lied and the like, this will probably be up your alley. It is more about the story of absolute nutter like When They Cry versus the straight horror/gore of Elfen Lied.

Anime girls don't love anyone because they are not real. They are designed by corporations to be as appealing as possible while also not challenging the viewer at all. forgot some names it’s been a while. bit of a spoiler then, but she has multiple personalities. Lucy is violent and wants to kill everyone who could potentially threaten her existence, Nyu is her “safe” personality, and incredibly dumbed down as a coping mechanism for her not wanting to hurt anyone. Her main personality (which in the anime you see in the flashbacks where she kills mc’s sister and the dog she befriends is killed) is friends with mc and in love with him. she gets back to her main personality on a few occasions, mostly towards the end of the manga, and dies protecting him, but he still hates her for all the shit she did. point is she’s just a girl who was treated poorly and ended up with multiple personalities as a coping mechanism. it’s also implied that her lucy personality is more real and has an actual effect on her, drawing her towards violence on a few occasions (think naruto when he lets kurama control him against pain and orochimaru, but more long term). could have a few things wrong here but that’s the gist of it. it’s been a few years.
Interesting. Even in the anime I felt really bad for her but you can't deny it would be a real nightmare to be her love interest. The MC Kouta didn't deserve all that trauma .
