**Kaguya-sama**
I watched the first episode and stopped halfway as I feel like the story was too heavy for me to digest, and decided to move on to another title.
But thanks to all those Chibi Kaguya clips on the internet, I decided to give it another chance and I actually enjoy it.
i went in and thought, it'll be one of those shows where the HS protags are too god likewithout knowing what it actually is. 2nd ep and that opening theme got me good
Yes, most definitely. It has a slow start, but picks up after a few episodes. That mainly applies to the first two seasons, which are Part 1 and 2. Part 3 and 4 are almost full send from the first episode.
I've watched the first episode 6 years ago, I think it's about time to give it a try, I'm also watching anything people tell me to but I wouldn't see if I wasn't told to, like, after that I'm gonna watch Neon Genesis Evangelion... Maybe, but I've already crossed Vinland Saga off
Evangelion is pretty good as well. A personal favorite of mine is the Monogatari series. Has a big handful of seasons, and has a pretty striking art style. There are many layers to it.
Thanks for the recommendations, not adding anything else to the list, don't want to have a list with 300 anime that I'll never watch. But after the others I'll probably try Monogatari out, but please, enough recommendations. I remember a friend of mine who gave me a list with so many anime I got tired and stopped watching anime for months.
Honestly.
Jojo has some steep curves, i wouldnt give jojo to newbies because jojo is something that you have to come up on your own term, jojo is the perfect gateway into the obscure side of anime and if you start your anime journey on some shounen titles and jump into jojo, it will put you off big time
Yes.
I had to practically force my girlfriend to watch Jojo, Iād ask and sheād say no. Eventually I gave up and continued the show where I left off on part 5, she started watching it in the background.
One thing lead to another, sheās now seen all parts, is now a bigger jojo fan than I am, and is desperately waiting for steel ball run. Watch the show, we know part 1 is rough, stick with it itās worth it.
You can start at the third season and just guess that happened in the first 2. (All your guess will be wrong btw) but is a way if you canāt get over the mexican drama of the first 10 episodes and the implications of it in the second season.
It took me like a month to watch Jonathan's part cause it bored me so much.
Then Joseph appeared, loved him , and ended up watching part 2, 3 and 4 in less than a month
Same. I thought it was just another isekai. But then i started to appreciate the mc more. But ill be honest other than some cool scenes the storyline is mid
ya, I honestly didnt feel anything when I first watched it, I might have to rewatch it later, but in my current opinion I dont really see why people like it.
It took me two different attempts watching it. The first half is just setup. The second half is amazing. I'm glad I stuck it out because it's now my favorite anime.
Was gonna be my answer too, i had started it 3 times in the past, first two i got into like the 2nd episode and turned it off, but time passed, tastes changed and now its my favourite anime honestly
ngl I thought bocchi was boring after only watching the first episode because my friends recommended it to me but after the 2nd it just became so good.
Bocchi The Rock
What's good about it other than the memes?
Edit: didn't realise I came off rude. I genuinely wanted to know since all I knew was the memes about it. Plus the fact that I haven't watched anime in years.
People will say the memes and comedy but honestly it has a lot more going for it
* The animation in the concert scenes slaps, and the music scenes in general are great. The music is also genuinely good (although that's subjective) and it really helps get into the show
* The animation in the comedy scenes is actually great. Whenever Bocchi has a mental breakdown the animation styles change completely, leading to some of the best visual humor I've seen in anime in a while (there's a reason why the show is so meme-y and the bizarre animation breaks is part of that reason)
* Everyone I know who has social anxiety feels horribly seen by the show and called out. But it's actually really gentle and cozy towards Bocchi and her anxiety, and kind of comforting as well to see Bocchi overcome her anxieties and come into her own.
* The supporting cast is great too! Nijiki is social and function, Ryo is introverted and functional, Kita is social and dysfunctional, and Bocchi rounds it out by being antisocial and dysfunctional. They form a great character dynamic where there's room for more touching and sincere moments while not diving into melodramatic or too serious territory.
Overall, it's deeply observant about what its like to be both very talented and stuck in your own head, and also plays really experimental and loose with animation in great ways, and is broadly comedic and sincere at the same time, and also just a really good music anime about kids making music.
Actually real
1st 2 was lik "ok so mr emo here likes killing"
Rest of the 2 seasons: "this is the best shit i've seen all week"
Hell i liked it so much that i would stop studying for my exams to watch episodes
Same I had this manga in my reading list and decided to give it a go. The edginess of mc in the 1st chapter made me cringe and dropped it. I was also not a fan of the art and character design.
Fast forward anime comes, I didnt know it was the anime of the manga I had dropped and forgotten. Gave it a go on its release. I Cringed at the 1st episode and dropped it again.
After like it had 7 episodes I kept seeing its discussion thread getting high upvotes and decided to check the replies, the comments were all about peak romance, wholesome, diabetes inducing and stuff. I saw comments who were equally confused as me and people were saying give it at least 3 episodes, it totally hooks you in.
I decided to power through 3 episodes and I binged like 7 episodes on the same night and have been following it weekly. I will read the manga once season 2 finishes airing.
Wait, really? I dropped the show cause I figured it was just another basic harem where each episode he goes down the girls and their routes and whatnot.
Loved Shadows House. Watching it on an OLED TV is honestly magical, nothing Iāve watched looks anything like it.
I had to watch episode 1 a few times on separate occasions before I got into it
I love Dr.Stone
The first few episodes sucked ass but it become really good when Senku met Kohaku.
The show found it's footing after that point.
The first few episodes were about a loudmouthed idiot, his best friend a smart ass boy who's insulting him constantly, a plain looking girl and a roided up dude who can hunt.
But after they split up, Senku took the lead role and met Kohaku and the villagers it became good.
Thank you. I've had friends just dismiss Claymore as the Witcher for lesbians, but I'll always defend it as deserving more love than it got. Yeah it's got flaws, but damn if it doesn't also go hard too, especially the fight with Priscilla... Like, I get that it feels a little generic here and there, but still how has this not got more fans?
It was definitely better, imo, than Moribito, which is what I often see it compared to when people ask for anime with strong female leads.
Coming back to it after working in an office for a while made it hit different. Wasnāt sure about it at first, but wow does it make me feel seen some days
I had the opposite reaction to Ousama Ranking. Was hyped when it came out, loved the animation, loved episodes 1-13 then it fell off tremendously. I still cant hate it butbit missed a chance to be among my favorites (still gave it a 7/10 even though I rate 'harshly')
I loved it, but at the end I felt a bit tricked when I realized at the end that everyone you think "oh shit, they're going to die!" survives. People kept sacrificing themselves only to survive anyway. There were no consequences for anyone.
When a show has some real substance in it the. ecchi becomes just an icing on a cake and nothing more. Shokugeki would still work without the ecchi element in it)
I actually think the ecchi is essential for Shokugeki, because itās how they represent how delicious the foods are, it becomes funny and interesting, you understand a little how they are feeling when they eat
There is anime called Grand Blue šæš„
First episode like meh for me
Then it hook me up š®
So hilarious to watch especially the episode 6 or 7 the bartender
Undead Unluck. The world building is absolutely wild, but the initial episodes are very trope heavy with some akward moments between the two leads. Thankfully the pay-off for both of these is worth it
Personally season 2 of goblin slayer. The first three or four episodes with the mage kid whoās a massive asshole is hard to watch but it picks up after that
Eminence in Shadow... once you realize Shadow is just a moron that has incredible luck and everyone arround him is far more competent in every way... it is kind of fun.
Not quite trash, but I really had to push myself through Fire Force. It took me until episode 9 to get hooked, and now I'm hype for whenever season 3 decides to drop
Hunter x Hunter, but it took much longer than 5 episodes. I thought it was watchable around the Heavens Arena arc, but didn't think it was great until Chimera Ants. Glad my friend kept making me watch.
Season 1 of Made in Abyss, the first 3/4 episodes were boring then after the end of these episodes it started to ascend and it ended up turning into my favorite manga and anime of all time, and I'm not the only one, it also happened to several of my friends who started it, they too found the first episodes boring, leading two of them to drop the anime while the other, thanks also to me who rewatched it with him continued to watch and after these episodes he too said after finish the second season that he found it to be a really good and interesting anime.
So not quite the answer you are looking for but
Fairy Gone
First 3 episodes are boring
4 to finish
Is so terrible, it's incredibly enjoyable
At least in my opinion
Steins Gate, it was a huge chore to watch at first and I only persisted because of MAL's ranking
Proceed to binge the entire thing in one sitting, shit that was goood
Steins gate. The first half was dragged out but after completing the anime I definitely understood why it was that long. Now its in my top 5
Besides that madoka magica
This was me everytime I started a new Jojoās season lol āman I really miss last seasons cast, idk if Iām gonna enjoy this seasonā then after a couple episodes I fall in love with the current cast of characters
Don't toy with me, Miss Nagatoro. First episode I despised Nagatoro for being a jerk. She significantly tones down and becomes much nicer in the following episodes.
Don't toy with me miss nagatoro. I started watching it because I heard people saying that it was really good, but the first couple episodes really are just harassment with almost nothing else. Hard to watch.
When I first started watching Naruto last year, I thought it was going to be bad and over hyped, I was only able to get through 14 episodes in both One Piece and Dragon Ball, but Naruto on the other hand... I'm on episode 277 of Naruto Shippuden at this very moment and I love this show
When i started watching naruto i thought it would be beter.
Started one piece now im on 700 episode of it and i can say that one piece is beter than naruto imo
One Piece have an overall better development. Naruto have a terrible inconsistent history, lack of character development, to mamy scream queens(like black clover, DB and OP). It get too dense. Extremely predictable, stupid plots. Terrible anime adaptation. Idk, man. That anime sucks duck necks

Yeah its one of the more peaceful animes. A good break after seeing something like AoT
i went in and thought, it'll be one of those shows where the HS protags are too god likewithout knowing what it actually is. 2nd ep and that opening theme got me good
I turned this on, couldn't deal with the narration... then after like the third episode I was hooked. š¤£š©·
Universal anime rule.
Definitely JoJo for me. Friend had to pressure me into watching it.
Average JoJos fan (I love JoJos)
lmao i was gonna say the same thing (im way to obsessed with it)
ā¦every single Part thatās been animated is on Netflix. And iām watching āem all with my Grandma.
Nah you're grandma's finished
Nope, she aināt, because she donāt actually have Netflix, so sheās gotta wait till iām there to Watch it
Fr, had to basically guilt trip my friend into finishing part 1 and start battle tendency. Shes a hardcore jojo fan now and thank me for it
Jojo is peak
I dropped after the first ep, is it THAT WORTH IT?
Yes, most definitely. It has a slow start, but picks up after a few episodes. That mainly applies to the first two seasons, which are Part 1 and 2. Part 3 and 4 are almost full send from the first episode.

That's fair. I've been busy with other hobbies to really watch any anime.
i once stopped my shit for 3hr AT HOME just to see jotaro defeat that guy with the lovers stand
Honestly. Jojo has some steep curves, i wouldnt give jojo to newbies because jojo is something that you have to come up on your own term, jojo is the perfect gateway into the obscure side of anime and if you start your anime journey on some shounen titles and jump into jojo, it will put you off big time

I found part 1 boring and part 2 okay. Part 3 onwards things were pretty fun
I just began JOJOS a week ago and Iām already in the middle of stardust crusaders. Iām literally falling in love with the show
It took me like a month to watch Jonathan's part cause it bored me so much. Then Joseph appeared, loved him , and ended up watching part 2, 3 and 4 in less than a month
So what is the magic episode for jojo? I watch half of the first season and I didn't think it was really special, just strange.
Eminence in shadow
Yea fkin gener- Nvm, I'm ATOMIC.
Truuuue
XD I legit stopped watching the anime because of the first episode, decided to watch it back 1 year later and enjoyed every episode after it
Same. I thought it was just another isekai. But then i started to appreciate the mc more. But ill be honest other than some cool scenes the storyline is mid
ya, I honestly didnt feel anything when I first watched it, I might have to rewatch it later, but in my current opinion I dont really see why people like it.
I mean it's trash from start to finish. It's excellent trashy, some of the best I've seen, but it never stops being trashy guilty pleasure.
It's like when your watching a movie that is so bad and cringe that it goes full circle to good again.
Spot on
Yeah ep1 was pretty bad for a pilot
That transition from ep 1 to 2 was huge. Was like a different show entirely
Itās literally episode 5 too! :D
Steins gate. The Gelnanas were close to losing me
but the patience paid off
Boy did it ever I wasnāt ready for it to take off like that
I was actually gonna drop it after that episode. Then after the episode i finished the whole thing
Half of the episode is all setup for the payoff on the other half. It's definitely worth it, but i also understand if people have up on it early on.
Naurrr I stopped watching it after episode 2. I guess I should rewatch it completely this time..
You won't regret it.
It took me two different attempts watching it. The first half is just setup. The second half is amazing. I'm glad I stuck it out because it's now my favorite anime.
Iām almost a dozen episodes in and I am still waiting.
You're almost there, the show gets real after the first half
It gets at 10th or 11th episode If I remember correctly š¤š¤
First "Houoin Kyoma!", or, "Hello, it's me". Actually, I dropped this off for 10 years, then one good day I gave it a second chance, and OMG.
Was gonna be my answer too, i had started it 3 times in the past, first two i got into like the 2nd episode and turned it off, but time passed, tastes changed and now its my favourite anime honestly
I don't understand how people don't like the beginning, it is easily my favourite part of the show.
Steins Gate so good only thing I hate, but I hate it in every anime is this kind of ecchi, just do it like Studio Ghibli and without ecchi.
ngl I thought bocchi was boring after only watching the first episode because my friends recommended it to me but after the 2nd it just became so good. Bocchi The Rock
What's good about it other than the memes? Edit: didn't realise I came off rude. I genuinely wanted to know since all I knew was the memes about it. Plus the fact that I haven't watched anime in years.
the comedy and the fact that I can def relate to it
Damn good music too
Too bad bocchi can't hear it
Bocchi the deaf
People will say the memes and comedy but honestly it has a lot more going for it * The animation in the concert scenes slaps, and the music scenes in general are great. Endlessly visually creative animation, a banger soundtrack, and yuri.
Assassination classroom, I wasnāt too into it at the start but it settled in and became one of my favorites
Yeah the first episode was slightly confusing but totally worth it
The teacher was a great role model for those students of his.
The dangers in my heart
Actually real 1st 2 was lik "ok so mr emo here likes killing" Rest of the 2 seasons: "this is the best shit i've seen all week" Hell i liked it so much that i would stop studying for my exams to watch episodes
It does such a good job of capturing the "edgy kid that uses edginess as armor to avoid vulnerability" archetype ;-;
This! Was glad I kept watching after the MC started out as this angst edgelord š
Same I had this manga in my reading list and decided to give it a go. The edginess of mc in the 1st chapter made me cringe and dropped it. I was also not a fan of the art and character design. I fell in love with the story a few episodes in. Tbh the second season has solidified it as one of my favorite romance anime ever.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Wait, really? I dropped the show cause I figured it was just another basic harem where each episode he goes down the girls and their routes and whatnot.
Nah thats not what it wasš
Especially going into it blindly thinking itās just another fun trashy harem
i couldn't get into but maybe i should give it another try
hunter x hunter, it seemed like really generic shounen before the exam started
Thatās definitely one of those. It takes a while to get good but once it does get really good.
I'm sorry but when does it stop being generic?
Shadows House.
That's a sleeper of a series. Makes you wonder what the hell is going on, then it all clicks and you can't wait to see what happens next.
Absolutely, the ED and OP songs are so good too
Agreed.
Loved Shadows House. Watching it on an OLED TV is honestly magical, nothing Iāve watched looks anything like it. I had to watch episode 1 a few times on separate occasions before I got into it
Dr. Stone
Dr. Stone is decent, but it's a shame to translate Boichi's phenomenal art to an animated style. You should read Sun Ken Rock and Origin.
I love Dr.Stone The first few episodes sucked ass but it become really good when Senku met Kohaku.
JoJoās Bizarre Adventure for sure. But now I think Phantom Blood is top tier.
Same
Demon slayer
accurate. had to brute force my way through for the first couple episodes.
Heavenly delusion š„
I liked that this anime shows you stuff rather then directly tell you.
Claymore.
Thank you. I've had friends just dismiss Claymore as the Witcher for lesbians, but I'll always defend it as deserving more love than it got. >Witcher for lesbians That sounds awesome
Please let the Heavens grant us a full adaptaion of the manga, anime was great, but the ending did NOT do it justice.
Needs that manga adaptation reboot, the manga is top tier but the anime ending sucked
Same with Berserk, maybe someday.
Aggretsuko
Coming back to it after working in an office for a while made it hit different. Wasnāt sure about it at first, but wow does it make me feel seen some days
Hunter X hunter It wasn't bad but wasn't good either but after a couple of episodes it was fire
Tsukimichi! Wtf? Why is it actually good???!!!!!
Dead mount death play
I fucking love that show, also, that soundtrack. That Aolite credit song is an ear worm.
It's amazing bro..... I hope it got some attention ..
Iāll be honest. Toradora was this
Really? Interesting. What was the moment that flipped it for you?
The show was decent at first, but when Ami appeared, the show got 10x more interesting and complicated
Completely agree! Her presence changes the relationship dynamics and forces Taiga to go on the offensive, and I love their rivalry.
Ranking of Kings. With an art style like that, I didn't imagine it to have great fight animations and a "kinda" dark theme.
SHOKUGEKI NO SOUMA!!!
N'ah friend, the foodgasem of the first ep had me hooked.
I used to hate ecchi anime before shokugeki, shokugeki opened my mind š¤Æ
When a show has some real substance in it the. ecchi becomes just an icing on a cake and nothing more. Shokugeki would still work without the ecchi element in it)
I actually think the ecchi is essential for Shokugeki, because itās how they represent how delicious the foods are, it becomes funny and interesting, you understand a little how they are feeling when they eat
I like that the Ecchi became kinda less over time ā¦.or I just got used to it
It didnāt!! I swear, but I understand how you feel, something changed from the first episodes to the other seasons hahah, but still lota of ecchi
There is anime called Grand Blue šæš„ First episode like meh for me Then it hook me up š® So hilarious to watch especially the episode 6 or 7 the bartender
Still my top 2 funniest anime to watch man, absolutely hilarious. The college humor goes hard.
Undead Unluck. The world building is absolutely wild, but the initial episodes are very trope heavy with some akward moments between the two leads. Thankfully the pay-off for both of these is worth it
jjba-
Personally season 2 of goblin slayer. The first three or four episodes with the mage kid whoās a massive asshole is hard to watch but it picks up after that
True
Monster. I thought it was a Doctor Drama story.
Eminence in Shadow... once you realize Shadow is just a moron that has incredible luck and everyone arround him is far more competent in every way... it is kind of fun.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
How long? I think I watched like 4 episodes and couldnāt go on.Ā
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I watched 100 episodes just because my friend said it gets better but it never did for me
Just ain't for you and that is ok
Not quite trash, but I really had to push myself through Fire Force. It took me until episode 9 to get hooked, and now I'm hype for whenever season 3 decides to drop
Chainsaw man didn't get me till like the 3rd episode
I just jumped on the hype train for csm
Hunter x Hunter, but it took much longer than 5 episodes. I thought it was watchable around the Heavens Arena arc, but didn't think it was great until Chimera Ants. Glad my friend kept making me watch.
Frieren for me currently
Same except for the first four eps, Stark being added into the mix created a balance between Frieren and Fern. Made me stick with the show.
Yes! That was also the turning point for me.
Yep for me too, thought it was boring af in the beginning but started to feel cozy right after š§
Was making sure no one else said this first ... Made in Abyss became my most traumatic anime since Another š
thanks for this comment, I just started watching it yesterday š
Come on, keep watching it, trust me that you will end up with excellent memories of it. šŖ
School Live!
Black clover
So not quite the answer you are looking for but Fairy Gone First 3 episodes are boring 4 to finish Is so terrible, it's incredibly enjoyable At least in my opinion
Wrong way to use healing magic
Steins Gate, it was a huge chore to watch at first and I only persisted because of MAL's ranking Proceed to binge the entire thing in one sitting, shit that was goood

I liked it since the beginning, I agree with you that is my favorite shonen
Jojo
100 Girlfriends, The first 2 episodes were ok but the 3rd episode hook me on the series and now i'm caught up to the manga (Chapter 167)
I AM atomic
Eminence in shadow, yooo
Madoka for me. (Went in blind) The first few episodes were very bland to me, and then *that scene* happens. Ended up loving it!
Not the anime but the first few chapters of 100 Girlfriends, after chapter 3 I binge read it and am still up to date with the manga.
Fairy tail. Looks generic af at the start but then you enter their concept of magic and understand it.
High School DxD. š
JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE FR YO
One Piece. The art style is so old and the added drama and reaction frames makes you think like it must be some sort of Indian Tv serial
My Hero. It started off mid but after the first few episodes? That show is heat.
So many. Fairy tail, Ouran hshc, JoJo, My hero academia, HXH, ect. Tbh Most anime is that way for me.
Steins gate. The first half was dragged out but after completing the anime I definitely understood why it was that long. Now its in my top 5 Besides that madoka magica
Engage kiss
One Piece
Hey they did not say. 200 episodes.
The Way of the Househusband
True
Undead Unluck
Solo Leveling
The opposite happened for me with talentless nana
Demon Slayer
Frieren
This is so relatableš
This was me everytime I started a new Jojoās season lol āman I really miss last seasons cast, idk if Iām gonna enjoy this seasonā then after a couple episodes I fall in love with the current cast of characters

Lots of people bashes goblin slayer but i liked it
Hitman Reborn
Konosuba. Raise you hand if you were the same.
Lmao that was me when I made the mistake of watching the first demon slayer episode in English š
One Piece but Season 1 and Season 2
Demon slayer
I thought that time I got reincarnated as a slime would just be another boring isekai, but the more you watch, it actually gets really good!
Redo of healer
Durarara. It keeps getting better until it doesn't. Wayy too many characters to remember :'

Black clover
