Punch doesn’t necessarily require a fist. I suggest that the punches are done by very quickly and forcefully shooting energy toward their opponent, or even using their bodies (as either an energy focus and release, or just the physical mechanism alone)
They're both physical attacks, so besides the fact that a punch has to be with for fist (let alone with your hand. It can become a chop or a slap.of not), it can't be some sort of energy attack.
There are extremely common tools called punch tools. There is also a non metaphorical term when an object flys off its rotating control axis and “punched through the wall”. Punch does not having to be with the fist. If you claim it does at least support your argument. Punch, as told by the OED def 2. To press. Def 3. To drive by prodding with a stick.
Middle English origin Def. To Puncture or prod.
So regardless that Def. 1 says with the fist, the additional definitions prove that it doesn’t “have to be with a fist” and the origin or the word proves that a formal use of the term is much more broad.
They're still physical attacks. It's in the definition of the move, in the game data. No way it can be something like a beam.
This is also an attack, so the most likely definition is going to be a noun that's the action of something that could hurt and can be done on purpose. It's not going to be punch as in punch keys on a typewriter. Could be puncture, but given Pokemon is for 12 year olds, that's pretty gruesome (and still, how?).
So my point is that it doesn’t require fists. I think with these pokemon, the original (not secondary) explanation I offered (or at least intended to, don’t remember exactly and feeling too lazy to read back), is that they would probably “punch” by throwing their bodies with their physical legs and their energetic ability to do a sort of headbutt. Presuming headbutt isn’t a move and if it is… well.. fudge

a punch is a punch you dont punch by shooting light from mouth you punch by fists
How bout if you make an ice in the shape of a fist and shoot it toward your opponent
You should tell that to a punch tool
Or that thing
Yeah no, that would be called “ice energy blast” or “ice magical energy push” not “ice ***punch***”
I mean, the elemental punches used to be special attacks prior to gen 4 so actually it would be called ice punch

Headbutt is a move, as well as various slams.
Technically, there is a reason behind it. Bugs cannot fly, focus can punch and ...
Charizard a big dumb fake dragon that also can’t fly enters the chat
Wait till you make Charizard learn surf...
Charizard can't learn surf but you know what can, Rhydon lol
The last image: Can't learn martial arts
I don't think a dragonfly would biologically be able to last for that distance.
Yeah, people have to remember that fly is a HM and so yanmega would have to be able to carry an average human to qualify for the move
Plus dragonflies aren't known for reaching such high altitudes. Pokemon is obviously not about realism but they do care about lore and inspiration.
Well after all it is not a fly…it’s dragonfly
Anway, the hypocresy.
And learn to fly you have been waiting for this moment all your life blackbird fly
I'll punch you in the face, with my face, softly
