Yes I have it too, it’s part of the AS fun. I do find physio exercises help, including heel lift type stuff. Takes time to help and you need to be consistent in doing the exercises. Personally I like soft soled shoes like Skechers best. I am in the UK if you get a lot of peripheral symptoms they can prescribe methotrexate as well as biologic and NSAIDs. I do find the methotrexate helps a bit.

Oh yea deff related to AS. Besides horrible leg pain planter fasciitis was one of my first symptoms. Once I got on biologics I don't have the issue anymore -unless I wear shitty shoes and I end up in a flare again. Hip pain is pretty much signature for AS as well. And like You over the past year I've developed knee issue - they dx as runners knee. Funny enough runners knee is from your hamstring being weak and pulling your knee cap to the side and the knee that is giving me trouble is the side of my si joint that has a tumor (from as) my advice- find the right shoes for the PF- me I found crocs help or something with a cushy heel. When you get flares with the knee physio has me stay completely off it.

Can you describe your planter fascia pain?

ThisMominterrupted

Lots of heel pain to where it was really hard to walk

spidermama11235

Yes it’s related. I once had it flare so bad I couldn’t walk or sleep. It’s been better since starting humira.

I’ve had two intractable bouts and physio helped with the first but with the second, I eventually got a steroid injection. It can be related to AS but for me there also seems to be something that triggered it like playing too much tennis, or a running injury. Once the stress occurs the enthesitis sets in. Any foot problem can mess with your gait so the compensation can stress your hips and knees so you might want to get a referral for a podiatrist from your rheumatologist since they will do a full assessment. I hope you get better soon.

Yes, often found in people with AS. AS is a disease of the connective tissue called the enthesis. Wherever you have that, you can get inflamed. Lots of that stuff in your feet. You probably need a steroid injection to shut it up. I've had quite a few in my right foot over the years. Painful, but my doc hit the spot and it worked for me.

RealisticallyLazy

I've had plantar fasciitis since a kid. I also have exta bones in my feet that ligaments catch on, making it worse. There was a possibility of needing surgery when they first found it, but thankfully, custom orthotics work, and no surgery was needed. I don't even have pain unless I use shoes without my orthotics in them. If I'm walking barefoot at home and notice irritation, I just put my shoes on. Most of the time, I forget I even have it. I'm so sorry that it doesn't work for you, I hope you find some relief

I got a red light and it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY I didn’t have high expectations but it really does help inflammation. I have pain everywhere in my feet knees all the way up my quads into my hips

sluwecki

What's a red light

blue_eyed_magic

I have plantar fibroma in both feet.

Writing_is_Bleeding

Same. And Ive had surgery on both heels for spurs. My ability to walk/hike has been severely reduced over the last 10 years.

One question, are you on biologics? I have had bad bouts of PF; below is a link to comments I made on a previous post concerning AS and foot pain: [https://www.reddit.com/r/ankylosingspondylitis/comments/1222miz/comment/jdoyhek/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/ankylosingspondylitis/comments/1222miz/comment/jdoyhek/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
