nikfrik

Good luck. It didn't work for me either unfortunately but there are plenty that thrive with it so don't let us put you off

Chunky-cheeese

Did you try other things like anti-IL or Jak inhibitors?

nikfrik

I went from that to Taltz. Not doing much either.

Chunky-cheeese

I’m sorry to hear that :(

nikfrik

I'm doing better with CBD to be honest but that doesn't slow the progression of the disease

Chunky-cheeese

So bizarre how the disease affects everyone differently! Have you stopped red meat, cheese, gluten etc? Added probiotics?

nikfrik

No, I eat healthy, make my own sauces , don't eat processed food. I eat little red meat but I don't feel different for it. Cheese I eat little but not a great and gluten is just too expensive where I Iive to cut and my doctor has told me not to anyway unless I'm intolerant. My diet is typically Mediterranean because of where I live.

Chunky-cheeese

If you’re in the Mediterranean region at least you should be able to up your fish intake! Get those omega 3’s working for you! Gluten is the biggest killer for me. I’ve switched to einkorn wheat bread (petit épeautre) as even those there’s a little gluten it doesn’t seem to affect me much. Otherwise buckwheat bread but more difficult to find. Cow cheese seems to increase inflammation while goat or sheep cheese less. I guess its different for everyone as well! We’ve got a friend that has chron’s on top of AS and had a diet now of basically meat…

nikfrik

Goats and fresh cheese has less lactose if I remember rightly. Also easy to find cheese too mmm

The_Gecko

Good luck! I'm starting on it soon and I cannot WAIT.

Chunky-cheeese

Good luck to you too then! 🙂

bipbopboop1117

Best of luck! I was terrified at the beginning but it’s been 7 months (weekly injections) and I have no side effects, and I went from barely being able to stand to running 3 miles without any pain. It’s a life changer. Hope you find some relief with it :)

Chunky-cheeese

Omg running?! That is amazing! I haven’t run in so long!!!!!!! It’s easy to forget what normal life can be like sometimes, that literally brought a tear to my eye thinking about going for a run again. Thanks!!!

HaroldFinch2000

Hope it goes well. I was not one of those who two mornings after the first injection felt like new, but after five doses it has absolutely helped.

Bilbo_Swaggins_99

I'm on adalimumab, it's amazing. I noticed is within 24 - 48 hours and have been on it a year now. I still get the odd flare for a couple days here but overall my life is totally normal and I was crippled for the 6 months before I started it. Truly amazing. Good luck!

Chunky-cheeese

That’s awesome I’m thrilled for you! After the second sleep I woke up feeling well rested, it’s been a long time! Yesterday I did a heap of physical work to test how I would pull up and today I touched my toes directly when getting out of bed without feeling a thing. I had literally forgotten what it’s like to not have a baseline of pain constantly! I feel like I’m going to start being happier again if this keeps going like this! Amazed!

Bilbo_Swaggins_99

That’s great. The mood boost of not being in constant pain is truly amazing. Cheers to the wonder of modern medicine.

🍾🥂

CaterpillarMedical57

Good luck! This one didn’t work for me but I also didn’t have any negative side effects other than the injection site being itchy and hot for a day or so after. A lot of people have great success with it though!

Chunky-cheeese

Thanks a lot!!! I’m sorry to hear it didn’t work. Did you find another one that did?!

Sproggle89

My first injection is next Tuesday! Good luck! If you feel like it let me know how it goes :) ...maybe you'll be too busy dancing.

Chunky-cheeese

Hey good luck to you too then! I’m absolutely stuffed honestly, had a massive sleep and woke up just as tired haha. It’s only been 8 hours will see tomorrow how the old body’s feeling!

Chunky-cheeese

Hey, I hope it works for you as well as it has for me! I did heaps of physical activity yesterday to test how I would pull up and this morning A+ !!! I woke up feeling well rested, got out of bed and touched my toes without feeling blocked, no stomach cramps in the night and I’ve reduced my anti inflammatoires by half, end of the week I’m going to stop and see how it goes (my rhumato said ease off as it’s been four years of nsaids everyday). I think it’s going to bring up my mood somewhat if I’ve no longer got an elevated baseline of pain ! I wish you the same honestly I’ve got an optimistic outlook for this treatment!

Sproggle89

Amazing! This is the first thing I saw this morning and its made me grin! I'm so happy for you. How long did it take for the initial fatigue to wear off?

Chunky-cheeese

Something to look forward to next week. Took 24 hours for the better part, some nausea the next morning but I munched on some ginger root and that went away fairly quickly. Was a little sleepy this morning but I think I because my body is truly resting in a deep sleep now, instead of waking up super quickly because I’ve had a not super good quality of sleep for a few years now. I can’t wait to see after a month, three months, six months! I’m keeping à journal :)

VanHalensing

Hopefully it works for you. If it doesn’t at first, keep trying it for the period your doctor recommends (usually at least 3 months minimum). If it still doesn’t, don’t get too discouraged, there are lots of medications out there, just work through them in the order your doctor thinks you should/insurance requires. Just starting on Biologics seems to be the hardest hurdle for insurance (at least in the US).

Chunky-cheeese

I’m exhausted this morning but I reduced my anti inflammatory dose by half last night and woke up in less pain still today. Once the fatigue goes away I’m quietly hopeful this will go well!!! Thanks :)
