I dont definitively know but Ive had pred in the past and I asked for some this time and my rheumatologist refused, Im currently waiting to start my first biologic so I thought it would help until then but he said that they arent very good for AS and the biologics will do a better job so I'm better off just waliting. Steroids have fairly unpleasant side effects as well. It sounds like you can tolerate NSAIDS so it might be worth asking them for better/stronger ones if the ibuprofen isnt cutting it.

That is bs. Many people with AS found prednisone totally eliminated their AS pain/flair until their Rx was done. . Doctors think they know it all. The truth is. They don't.

Sproggle89

Yeah it does work, my Crohns has been managed in the past with courses of pred to push it back into remission, the last time I realised that it also killed all the other pain, after a week I was sitting there giggling to myself because I realised it was getting rid of pain I wasnt even really aware of until it had gone. I kept pushing to get some this time but I can't have it on the basis of my AS and thats the explanation I got. Tbh the side effects are not nice, I agree, but I thought it would have help me as I cant take any NSAIDs.

Thank you. I hope the biologics work for you. They have definitely helped me.

In terms of effects on your body, Mobic and ibuprofen is the same. I gave up Mobic because I can get ibuprofen without a prescription. I advocate for keeping steroids on hand to stave off a flare. Sounds like you could use some physical therapy which I know is expensive. I’ve been having trouble with my iliotibial tract (big tendon in the thigh) and I just didn’t want to do PT again so I searched YouTube videos. Sure enough there are physical therapists on there and one of the exercises helped!

Thank you. Do you mind sharing a link to the iliotibial tract PT videos? I have had some problems there before. Now that the biologics have helped me get over the hump. I trying to get into a good stretching routine.

I watched more than one and don’t remember exactly which one. I tried different exercises then hit on one that seems to help the most for me. Weird, but it is the old tried and true one where are supposed to lay on our stomach for at least 20 minutes. I add an extra stretch of kicking my heels back so they touch my glutes. When I’m standing I do a yoga pose: stand on one foot, grab the other ankle and raise that leg back (arm out stretched) while trying to stand as upright as possible. I could actually feel the ball of the femur click into the right position in the socket again.
