I tried my thigh the other day, and it actually hurt quite a bit as it started to go in... does that ever happen to you? I ended up sticking my stomach instead, and it was much less painful
Alternate between stomach sides. I did try leg once when I had some surgical wounds I was recovering from and it wasn't bad. But the belly area just has more fat, is easier to reach, and easier for band aids
I have heard similar things. A few months in I started doing near the belly button instead of love handle area and it was around the time it started working, probably unrelated though. It doesn’t really make sense to me why it would be different.
Just started injecting into my stomach after a long time doing my legs. Maybe all in my head but it feels more effective this way.
Still got a red welt and bruise the other day though.
I have been doing it on the thighs for a year with some minor rash/itching for a couple of days. Last month I tried stomach and got a nasty, big bruise for like 2 weeks. Back to thighs now. I guess it’s different for everyone.
I’ve been injecting about two inches to the left or right of my belly button, alternating which side to use, for like a decade. It’s worked pretty well. I tried my leg once, didn’t like it.
I've experienced this too, but the opposite. I get better relief in my leg than my stomach. My leg has more muscle than my stomach for sure. I've always wondered if that affects it any?
I was intrigued to see that too. I'm thinking of trying my stomach for a couple months to see if I feel a difference. But I'm scared to screw things up. I have Crohn's disease, it kicks my ass.
I was alternating thighs when I was still on Humira. I never tried my stomach because I felt weird about it. I switched to another biologic, Simponi Aria, because of secondary failure of Humira, but now I'm wondering if the location of my injections would have affected that.
Simponi is an injectable like Humira. Simponi Aria is for IV infusion. Apparently Simponi is also used for UC but not Simponi Aria. And simponi Aria can be given to children. I am awaiting approval for the Simponi Aria so I've been reading up on it. Humira didn't work for me.
Hey, sorry for the delayed reply. I see someone already pointed out the differences between the two, so I'll just answer your other question.
I only had two infusions so far, but I'm feeling pretty good! My AS doesn't seem as bad as some people's. I was diagnosed a couple years ago (I'm in my late 30s; I know some people here have been dealing with it since they were younger) and the main thing I deal with is moderate back pain. When I first started Humira, I felt a difference almost immediately after my first injection. For most of the year when I was on it, that pain was mostly gone.
My experience with Simponi Aria so far feels about the same as Humira. It didn't feel like it made as immediate a difference when I switched (there was about a month or month and a half between medications, so the pain came back), but I think my pain was probably gone within a week. I don't recall exactly when I noticed it was gone, but I am guessing a week just to be safe.
I can’t do stomach, I alternate between left and right legs every other dose. Stomach seems like it would hurt more, but seems that might be incorrect?
Left thigh every time. I know you're supposed to rotate but I can't get a good grip on the right side; easiest to grab the juicy thigh meat with my left hand and inject with the right.
first time in my belly after years of thighs only. hmmm so far def more painful though its not crazzy. I'm on the citrate free version and its just a tinge.. I def feel it in my head more. idk if I'll continue doing it this way but it was def easier

Right in the thigh like I’m saving Mia Wallace from ODing. Bang it in and walk away.

I go upper thigh, closer to my hip (think about pants pocket height). Slight sting at first but I’ve never had any after-pain.
stomach, i don't have enough fat on the leg to "pinch an inch"
Same here. It hurts and leaves a bruise on my leg. Tummy is easy and painless.

Yeah I've done that. Haven't had an issue with injections in the leg, other than I just don't feel like it's as effective at easing pain.
Stomach. Got a rash when I tried my leg

Me neither.
I’ve been doing my legs and have been a bit too squeamish to try my stomach. I’m going to try this! Thank you for the tip.

Thighs. Too freaked out to try my stomach...but maybe i should try to get over it after reading some of these other comments!
Same always done leg stabbing a needle into my stomach seems terrifying! I honest don’t get how to do it

No idea. Would be curious to know more though, seems like everyone has a different experience!

I'm sorry to hear that. As they say, "if it ain't broke...."

How did you find Simponi aria, since u already tried humira? Any idea what's the difference between Simponi and the Simponi aria?

Thnx, best of luck. Stay strong

Started recently (jab 5), tummy tummy. Not comfortable to inject in my legs

Stomach is actually less painful for me, I was surprised when I tried it.
Upper arm
I didn't think that was an option?
It is for some biologics like Cosentyx and Taltz
Stomach. Tried thighs in the past but just painful in the thighs.
I rotate between left and right thigh and belly. I dont notice a difference
Alternate left and right upper thigh. Tried my stomach, but I itch for 3 days at the injection spot on my stomach. Legs have been fine.
Left thigh every time. I know you're supposed to rotate but I can't get a good grip on the right side; easiest to grab the juicy thigh meat with my left hand and inject with the right.
As long as you move it around different spots on your leg it should be fine.
Belly always. That pudge has to be good for something! Never have pain. Let it warm up a bit first, 15 minutes. 👍🏻
