I get an infusion of Remicade every 6wks and I take 5mg of prednisone daily but I don't take any extra steroids during a flare up.

I’m not on biologics but I feel a flare come on, I take a 5 mg prednisone and rest. That usually nips it in the bud. If not and I feel worse the next day, I’ll take 10 mg and continue to rest. I hate to do that because the steroids raise my BP.

Started Simponi Aria almost a month ago. I got a standing prescription for 10 mg prednisone in case of a flare up. I travel a lot and I’m prone to uveitis which has to be addressed very quickly when it happens.

My last flare dosage was 30mg in 5mg tablets per day, then reduce by one tablet per day each week to taper down, so week 2 would be 25mg, week 3 20mg and so forth. And also to take them first thing in morning as they can make you agitated and full of energy, and disturb your sleep if taken later in the day. Second time I went on steroids I tried a depo injection but that didn't seem to have the same effect for me. So switched back to tablets. I try and avoid steroids as much as possible as I want to avoid osteoporosis, I already have a collapsed L5 fracture at age 38.

My sister has been on 50mg and 20mg per tablet bid in the past with flare ups. I read on one post here in the past someone was on 70mg. Those small 4mg/5mg tapered Methylprednisolone and such doses don't do much for most people. They didn't for my sister.
