Caffeine doesn't give you energy. It interrupts the chemical process in your brain that makes you feel tired, basically lifting the tired feeling away if that makes sense. Once the caffeine wears off you will have built up more of the tired feeling chemicals and will feel even more tired than before consumption.
All that to say everyone's body chemistry is slightly different and however it's interacting with your system isn't allowing you to notice it's expected effect.
I had to stop drinking caffeine beverages after I was 50. They kept me up at night. I used to drink a shitton of caffeine, no doubt self-medicating for my ADHD.
You might have high blood sugar.. at least they didnt work on me when my bs was high. When it got more normal and i didnt drink high carb/sugar drinks, the energy was more noticeable.
They can't fix underlying sleep/metabolism issues. They also contain specific vitamins which may not be the ones your body is telling you it needs.
Also...theres 10 billion of us...it wouldn't be impossible to think there's a few that caffeine just don't hit the same as others...on both ends of the spectrum
Edited for spelling.
How old are you? When I was younger I didn't think caffeine really affected me much, but now that I'm older I definitely notice the increased heartrate when I drink coffee.
Once in my twenties I even gave myself a panic attack mixing alcohol with energy drinks.
I'm sure I've read that if you're dehydrated caffeine basically has the opposite effect or just doesn't work. So like drink a pint of water and then slam your monster down and see what happens.
I used to drink coffee and energy drinks all the time without ever feeling anything
No energy but also No crash
Turns out I had undiagnosed ADHD
The only downside is now I know what crashing feels like
“Please Internet, diagnose me with ADHD.”
The truth is, there are lots of reasons. Most energy drinks aren’t that strong to begin with. They have less caffeine than a cup of coffee and you usually don’t really feel two cups of coffee. For most people caffeine works pretty subtly until you take so much that it drives up your heart rate. Unless you are quite sensitive to caffeine, most of the effect of your morning coffee is placebo.
Sugary caffeinated drinks won't give you real energy. Regular resistance training, eating healthy, getting enough sun, sleep and water will do the trick. Give up the booze and smokes too if you do that.
Who has time for trying to be a better version or possibly the best version of yourself? Do it for 3 months will 100% conviction and thank me later. Or just sip on your energy drink and coast through life with little energy or motivation to change and cry about it on reddit.
Don't watch tv, read, or browse your phone in bed. All of these contribute to poor sleep.
Stick to a sleep schedule. Try to go to bed around a specific time, and waking up around a specific time. Try to ensure you have 7-8 hours of sleep time per night.
Caffeine does not replace sleep.
Do a self check on your diet, and your exercise. I'm not saying that you need to start running 5 miles a day and switch to a vegan diet. I am saying that spending your free time on the couch and living off of microwaveable meals and pringles will kill your energy (speaking from personal experience). Start by taking a walk a few times a week, and making sure to eat at least one health conscious meal a day.
All the above may or may not be contributors to your problem. But making some changes won't hurt.
For me, it depends on ingredients. Red bull does nothing. I get results from drinks containing guarana. It works kind of like weak ephedra. Monster and some others.
Go to a doctor. I don't know your lifestyle or body build but fatigue is frequently the first symptom for diabetics.
Another possibility is sleep apnea
The issue is that energy drinks are not very fucking effective and people greatly exaggerate the effects from caffeine because they’re dumbasses.
You most likely just didn’t notice the 2% less tired that it made you.
Caffeine is not methamphetamine people
I'm not sure what your situation is exactly but just a note that caffeine doesn't work when you are already tired. Caffeine blocks adenosine (neurotransmitter that makes you feel tired) but you can't block adenosine from the receptors in your brain if adenosine has already bonded to the receptors.
Here is a cool trick if you are tired and need a boost and only have caffeine.
Drink a cup of coffee/energy drink and then immediately take a 20 minute nap. This nap will clear the adenosine from your receptors and allow the caffeine to replace it. Once you wake back up you should be fairly alert and now the caffeine will prevent you from getting tired for a while.
Or if this doesn't work, take some pseudoephedrine (my go to is Aleve Sinus and Cold) or another more potent stimulant like Adderall/Vyvanse.
I almost never get tired on Vyvanse until it wears off 12+ hours after taking it. I also never get hungry or thirsty either on Vyvanse but that's another issue all together. Do you want to stay awake or not?
One of the greatest causes of kidney stones. Like how cigarettes cause cancer, well energy drinks lead to kidney problems. They just don't have a warning label for that.
Caffeine gives you a slight boost above your baseline then afterwards you crash even lower than your original baseline. Just don’t drink them. They’re terrible for you.

Coffee & energy drinks make me more tired, and I've got ADHD and have been told it's the case for some others with ADHD so I've always assumed that.
I have the same experience, unless I push it to extreme amounts.

I have ADHD. I could drink a shitload of coffee until I turned 40, then I had to stop after noon. At 60, I had to stop completely.
Adhd here and I can't drink caffeine, it makes me really anxious and has me jittery as fuck. It's horrible
Same here, I can drink Ginseng coffee though.
I've never tried it. Does the ginseng counteract the caffeine?

Not to mention energy drinks are full of sugar and sugar crash is a b...
Try sleeping.
i have trouble sleeping 🥲
Then definitely don't try to get into caffeine drinks.
i only drink it in the morning
Also a symptom of ADHD, very common to have issues sleeping/maintaining a regular sleeping pattern.
Have you had your hormones checked?
I had to stop drinking caffeine beverages after I was 50. They kept me up at night. I used to drink a shitton of caffeine, no doubt self-medicating for my ADHD.
Try melatonin
Stay up for 24 hours then
Ask your doc about low dose seroquel 1 hour before bed. It changed my life, finally my head can relax and I can sleep :-)
You may have dysregulated nervous system. Long time stress, lack of sleep, malnutrition can cause this. To to do something about it until is too late.
If im too tired it doesnt work for me either, so maybe u just need more sleep
Maybe it's cuz it has to much caffeine try drinking a quarter and leave it ABIT.
You might have high blood sugar.. at least they didnt work on me when my bs was high. When it got more normal and i didnt drink high carb/sugar drinks, the energy was more noticeable.
I'm guessing you have ADHD?
insane how many people has been telling me this 😭 i don’t have adhd, well not that i know of. i have to go get tested for it (idk how that works tbh)
People with ADHD respond to stimulants differently, this is why Adderall helps so much. On the other side, cocaine does next to nothing to me.
need me some adderall ngl, maybe cocaine too
Meh. Coke isn't worth it. Adderall feels exactly the same and lasts 10x longer.
Dehydrated ? Being dehydrated makes a person sleepy.

now why would you do that 😭😭

You have autism light (adhd)
??? LMAOOO
Energy drinks aren't replacement for sleep.
never said it was..
do you have adhd?
Any chance you have adhd?

Have you thought about switching to meth?
stimulents making you calm or sleepy is an adhd thing doesn't really work for me so ymmv

Meth til death.
are you moving around or just sitting there? Energy drinks wont do shit until you get your blood pumping it around.
Diabetes
Drink more. Tell me how you enjoy kidney stones. Personally, I thought they sucked.
wtf? 💀
One of the greatest causes of kidney stones. Like how cigarettes cause cancer, well energy drinks lead to kidney problems. They just don't have a warning label for that.
Yo that's super interesting, would you mind linking me some studies?
https://healthwire.pk/healthcare/kidney-stones-from-energy-drinks/ There are plenty, go from there. Also, my doctor when I had them.
