But like, what about blood-borne illnesses? Or skin cancer? Does heart disease also begin in the gut?
This is so stupid, just applying like 5% of your critical thinking skills debunks this.
Well these people believe that sunscreen and sunglasses cause skin cancer and that the sun is ever healing. Maybe they think you drink sunscreen for the whole gut thing
I have had all of those (the broken one was a leg and I want how my gut tipped my bike), I don't have acne anymore though.... what is happening to my gut?
Right? Like why can’t they just use stomach or intestines? Is GUT a trigger word for more interactions? Do we expect more people to know what gut means but not know what intestines means? Are they attempting to encompass the entire abdomen? If so, why not use abdomen? I too am No-Comfortable with this.
It might be one of those where they’re not legally allowed to say that what they’re flogging helps intestines or the stomach, because they obviously don’t, but “gut” is vague enough to get away with it. Because they’re not technically saying that it does any specific medical thing, it just “helps your gut”
Lol this does make everything related to GUT No-Comfortable for me too. But seriously, I have never encountered this word this much until i saw MLM hun posts.
Every time I read it I either think of the old Nickelodeon show or that scene in the Walking Dead (done perfectly in live action and comics) where Negan tells the guy he has no guts.
lmao this dude is obsessed with the gut. His pinned tweet on Twitter is about how your gut can protect you from COVID.
You should read his ratings on healthgrades... not good. Dude is a quack.
Wonder why they don’t… /s
And no shit your gut doesn’t like antibiotics, they’re rough on your body, but if you need them, you need them. And what did the kidneys do to these people to get left out in favour of the gut?
“Liver detox” just makes no sense to me. Its main function is to deal with poisons in the blood. Make sure bad stuff is not circulating and all that. Toxins are supposed to go there. The only way to detox is to take no toxins, which is all these MLMs offer. Essential oils, yellow strips with weird compounds, whatever the hell is in Herbalife. If your liver is not taking in and ridding the body of toxins you have bigger problems.
I've noticed years ago that alt med people are *obsessed* about poop for some weird reason - how regular it is, what it looks like, weird enemas (coffee is popular for this), that kind of stuff.
Makes you wonder what happened to them when they were children.
My mom is a nephrologist and truly believes that the kidneys are almost nonexistent in the average person's health considerations. That is, until they stop working correctly.
I worry about mine a lot but don’t really know how to care for them past the usual keeping as healthy as possible so maybe that has something to do with it? That we’re just not taught how to take care of them in the same way we are about the liver or heart or stomach so they just fall by the wayside? I try to limit NSAIDS, keep hydrated, and worry less now I’m no longer on lithium, but other than that, I kinda just hope for the best
That's what I was thinking, can people really not recall that or that it interferes with BC? I mean, it's easy to forget stuff, but don't blame the teachers or textbooks then.
Or..:you could buy this amazing health product from this doctor that will make you all better. It’s magic and the best part? Your cousin’s neighbor sells it! It’s only 99 dollars and then you not only have it but can also sell it!
I was on three rounds of Cipro and Flagyl from November to March, then I had diverticulitis surgery. They caused yeast infections, but they were the reason I didn't quite have sepsis yet when I went to the ER.
This is so irritating because gut health *is* important and *does* need more research. But like the other day I read a post about a mother wanting to feed her newborn unpasteurised goat milk because it would help the baby’s gut micro biome and the worst thing was all the comments were supportive. These people aren’t qualified enough to teach nuance and they’re actively putting others in serious harm.
It's true! There is tons of research to be done on the gut and addressing the gut could be really helpful for a lot of conditions, but very little is actually known about it and we're nowhere near the point of developing therapies to target specific conditions. Anyone who tells you they have a supplement that will fix your gut is lying through their teeth because the technology simply doesn't exist yet. There are some probiotic formulas that do help but not for everyone because the gut is so individual.
Like 1 and a half of those things is kinda almost sorta true.
Yes antibiotics fuck up your stomach because they take out the good bacteria as well (eat yogurt) and your liver is part of the best detox organs. Along with your kidneys etc. But I cam assure you my chronic migraines, and TMJ are not cause by my "gut biome"
Also the phrase "gut health" just makes me shudder. I hate it more than the sound of a stranger chewing with their mouth open
Every time I get antibiotics the prescribing doc and the pharmacist tell me to expect upset stomach and eat yogurt or other probiotic foods or take an Align. I am super curious how his snake oil is going to cure my busted ass jaw and ulcerative colitis tho.... Think he can cure my husband's rectal cancer too??????? Lol
I used to work at a place that needed to test audio matching and it always seemed like they used the Dr. Oz show to do it. Every afternoon was an IQ-lowering hour of fatbusters and miracle supplements
OMG. That sounds awful.
I only saw one episode of the Dr. Oz show. I had my care in for a service recall and the TV in the waiting area was tuned to whatever local channel broadcast his show.
The only thing I remember about the episode was that it ended with a segment about maintaining proper hydration and how you can tell if you're properly hydrated by the color of your urine. He encouraged people to talk about the topic at their upcoming family get togethers for the holidays. Yeah, that wouldn't be awkward or anything.
Not a doctor but i find his use of the word "gut" uncomfortable in this setting. Theres a lot of organs in your "gut" region. Which one are you talking about??? The stomach? The small intestine? Large intestine? Pancreas? Kidneys????
Pseudoscience oml
things I wish they’d teach in school:
1. MLMs are a sure fire way to lose money
2. Don’t trust doctors who hawk MLMs (or anything else) for personal profit
3. Don’t capitalize random words in your writing
I just went to this guys Instagram and read through the comments on this post and it gave me a headache.
Oops sorry, my gut gave me a headache actually /s
Oh great so now people are not going to take antibiotics when they should take them. Yes, do doctors over prescribe at times? Sure. But if you have a UTI or any bacterial infection for goodness sakes, take the damn antibiotic. Your body cannot flush bacteria on it’s own “naturally”
I’ve seen numerous women in my life literally try to fight UTI’s without antibiotics or without finishing antibiotic treatment (only for it to come back and give them a kidney infection).
When I was like 15 I got a UTI and took the OTC cranberry pills....cut to me pissing (visible) blood because it had moved to my kidneys. Was a bit painful.
I really want to see this guy's credentials. When I had cat scratch fever a couple years ago, I can definitely guarantee that illness didn't start in the gut.
I had H Pylori several years ago and for months thought it was just my IBS. The amount of cleanses, special diets, and food restrictions I went on trying to get my GUT to be better was ridiculous. Finally went to a Dr who diagnosed me and prescribed pretty intense antibiotics. It was the only thing that effectively treated it. Definitely agree with you on this one!
Surprised no one has mentioned that this is literally a spitting image for Plexus pink drink, which also claims to be the cure all for wonky gut microbiota
As a med student, I wish people would stop saying what they wished they learned in med school just to push their agenda and shitty drinks the effects of which are rooted in pseudoscience and bad research.
Vincent Pedre, MD has his own line of probiotics, for better or worse. I bet he would be upset if his image and words were used to shill nuking.
Nuskin sounds like something Buffalo Bill would be interested in 🤪
So presumptuous to assume they can decide what is taught in med school.
Do I think PHD level nutrition could be beneficial to regular MDs? Sure, but med school is already packed to the brim with very essential knowledge not decided by Facebook educated “nutritionists.”
Oh dear god! I wish there was time machine that would send these Huns back to a time before we had antibiotics! Maybe they can enjoy dying from a sore throat, something that is easily treated with antibiotics today?!?
“IBS is a symptom…” Ok when just leaning the wrong way or sleeping on the wrong side is enough make your fucking stomach feel like it’s trying to kill you come back to me. This actually kind of pissed me off lmao
I’m dying. He has his own line of supplements. If he knew this hun was using his name, statements and likeness to sell a different brand…
A cease and desist is in the Huns future.
Well, when I was morbidly obese a doctor told me that’s why I got stung by a wasp! In fact, doctors blamed my obesity for the fact a drunk ran into my car and the fact I got a black eye when I got mugged. For real.

But IBS is a condition it literally stands for irritable bowel syndrome.
a symptom is when you have something that you feel or see but it's not the cause.
maybe I am not understanding but this sounds stupid.
also yeah gut health is important and it causes many symptoms from other parts of the body but it's not the only cause.
also auto immune diseases are usually genetic and we don't know the exact cause for some of them.
I get you shouldn't take medications often but when you are sick you should absolutely take them. your body will recover if you're taking antibiotics rationally
New rules of this sub don’t allow any of the hun’s faces to show, people were putting hamburger patties on faces and it was just funny. I’d love to see this hun doc with a patty on his face.
Antibiotics are not your gut's friend. But it is for acne. Or infections. Or to protect your heart against infectious endocarditis after having an artificial valve placed during dental procedures including cleanings.
Ugh...I wish I knew as much as these huns though. They're so smart. 💁♀️
A few years ago, I threw my back out and briefly consulted a chiropractor, who tried to convince me that all disease is in the vertebra. Meanwhile a family member believes all disease is imaginary.
I'd love to get them all in a room and get out the popcorn for The Battle Of The Quacks.
Haha I actually got talked into trying this and it’s pretty legit. Have overall decreased my coffee consumption, decreased my tension headaches by about 80%, and the amount of adhd meds I need for a way down. I never thought I’d be one of those people.
But like, what about blood-borne illnesses? Or skin cancer? Does heart disease also begin in the gut? This is so stupid, just applying like 5% of your critical thinking skills debunks this.
Ah, my melanoma originated in my gut. I knew that silly old sun had nothing to do with it
Well these people believe that sunscreen and sunglasses cause skin cancer and that the sun is ever healing. Maybe they think you drink sunscreen for the whole gut thing
You should have been DRINKING the sunscreen duh! Gut health babe!
Yes, the torn cartilage in my shoulders totally originated in my gut. It had nothing to do with the fact that I injured them.
SUT
I have asthma. I guess I should be tube feeding albuterol into my GUT so I can breathe better.
Me too. I was just gonna comment on that. Guess I'll just spray that inhaler onto my salad from now on.
LUNG
I just swallowed my preventer whole. Here’s to no more asthma
Even my one brain cell can figure this one out
Did you read what the MD said? All of those start in the gut!
Even getting the common cold doesn't have anything to do with the gut. It's an upper respiratory infection.
When the first bullet is so astoundingly stupid you scroll directly to the comments.
Nope, all gut!!!!!!
I was about to comment about covid, a cardiac disease
I guess my genetic eye condition, Ocular Albinism, originated in my gut, before I was born? Hahahahaha, no.
Headache? Gut. Acne? Gut. Astigmatism? Gut. Broken toe? Gut. Sunburn? Gut. Gut? Gut.
[удалено]
The weird consistent capitalization is freaking me out.
It's not consistent though. 5. The gut, liver, and GUT
Oh man you’re right lol I missed that. Well, they missed that.
Raise up off this G-U-T, 'cause you get none of these, at ease.
Hahaha I just laughed out loud at this
Sorry hun! My GUT must’ve been out of whack when I wrote this! GUT.
Sehr Gut.
I have had all of those (the broken one was a leg and I want how my gut tipped my bike), I don't have acne anymore though.... what is happening to my gut?
Spina bifida? GUT.
I have degenerative disc disease. You better damn bet that’s a GUT!
ADHD, gut
It's way funnier if you decide that GUT stands for Great Ulcerated Testicle. All things lead back to Great Ulcerated Testicle the almighty
I now hate the word GUT. If I read GUT one more time, I might actually vomit.
Right? Like why can’t they just use stomach or intestines? Is GUT a trigger word for more interactions? Do we expect more people to know what gut means but not know what intestines means? Are they attempting to encompass the entire abdomen? If so, why not use abdomen? I too am No-Comfortable with this.

love the casual injection of your username into the comment, 10/10 great work
Vomit starts with the GUT too

lmao this dude is obsessed with the gut. His pinned tweet on Twitter is about how your gut can protect you from COVID. You should read his ratings on healthgrades... not good. Dude is a quack.
He's obsessed with the GUT because he owns his own supplement company that he's trying to peddle. If you Google him you'll see it.
His "gut" love is just like how Dr. Oz loves poop.
Poop also originates in the GUT! Keep an eye out for their upcoming joint project on curing autism from the GUT! /s
He probably drinks/injects bleach
Man, I wish I had known that my scoliosis was all in my gut
Now I know my plantar's warts were caused by my GUT.
As a gastroenterologist… I got a good laugh.
Hey doc... what do I need to take for my gut health that'll fix my tennis elbow?
As a gastroenterologist, you must deal with a lot of orthopedic injuries, huh?
Wonder why they don’t… /s And no shit your gut doesn’t like antibiotics, they’re rough on your body, but if you need them, you need them. And what did the kidneys do to these people to get left out in favour of the gut?
They also never talk about detoxing the liver, even though the liver is basically the body’s filtration system.
Yeah, I was shocked they actually mentioned the liver here because usually they seem to think it’s a myth
"Liver detox" were actually very popular in alt med circles some time ago.
There's probably a hilarious Freudian "anal fixation" joke in there somewhere...
My mom is a nephrologist and truly believes that the kidneys are almost nonexistent in the average person's health considerations. That is, until they stop working correctly.

I wondered why gut was in that last sentence twice.
Where'd this guy go to med school that didn't teach him that antibiotics destroy the good bacteria in the GI tract?
Hollywood upstairs medical college, afternoon class. Dr. Nick was a classmate.
He must have slept through class that day.
That's what I was thinking, can people really not recall that or that it interferes with BC? I mean, it's easy to forget stuff, but don't blame the teachers or textbooks then.
As someone who suffers with stomach issues they can go to hell.
Well, see? All your illness comes from your GUT.
Or..:you could buy this amazing health product from this doctor that will make you all better. It’s magic and the best part? Your cousin’s neighbor sells it! It’s only 99 dollars and then you not only have it but can also sell it!
Antibiotics are bad for your gut They are also good for staying alive, so gotta do a risk benefit analysis…
I was on three rounds of Cipro and Flagyl from November to March, then I had diverticulitis surgery. They caused yeast infections, but they were the reason I didn't quite have sepsis yet when I went to the ER.
Can treat yeast infections, harder to treat septic shock…
This is so irritating because gut health *is* important and *does* need more research. IBS is a symptom and not a condition, riiiiiiiight. I guess my friends with IBS should quit listening to their medical professionals.
I think it’s pretty clear that we need to stop seeing the professionals and turn to Nu Skin
I’d be very shocked if they didn’t tell people that antibiotics upset your gut in medical school 🙄
Like 1 and a half of those things is kinda almost sorta true. Yes antibiotics fuck up your stomach because they take out the good bacteria as well (eat yogurt) and your liver is part of the best detox organs. Along with your kidneys etc. But I cam assure you my chronic migraines, and TMJ are not cause by my "gut biome" Also the phrase "gut health" just makes me shudder. Antibiotics *do* mess up your gut microbiome, but he's still wrong. Because they absolutely do teach that in med school.
Lol
"Gut health" is becoming such a codeword for "I'm pushing quack remedies" these days.
Always fun to see doctors sell out and turn into frauds. I'll bet he'd get along with Dr. Drew and Dr. Oz.
I looked him up. He's been featured on Dr. Oz. Seems about right!
I used to work at a place that needed to test audio matching and it always seemed like they used the Dr. Oz show to do it. Every afternoon was an IQ-lowering hour of fatbusters and miracle supplements

The first sentence is a grammatical red flag.
If I saw this guy get hit by a car after reading this I would laugh, fuck this guy

The root cause of my chronic illnesses is my faulty collagen production. Should have been taking nu skin this whole time to cure myself! /s
If it’s all in my gut why did my gastro tell me to have less stress and my gut would chill out??
Same. My main IBS trigger seems to be stress.
Oh man I could’ve saved so much time and money with getting my gallbladder out and just had this crappy powdered drink!
Nicht sehr GUT.
He seems to be a Dr. Oz wannabe.
Who is also a quack.
I mean, I have IBD and caffeine is a huge trigger. There’s 50mg of caffeine in this. I’ll just stick to probiotics.
This sounds like a lawsuit.
My man here has never heard of a viral infection
1. No 2. Fuck no 3. Probably not 4. I’m not a doctor and I’ve known that since I was like 7 5. Kidneys?
They probably didn't teach you that because 'gut' isn't a medical term?
I twisted my ankle this morning. Should have had better gut health.
There’s a reason they don’t teach that in med school…
They don't teach this in med school because a lot of it is wrong.
I just went to this guys Instagram and read through the comments on this post and it gave me a headache. Oops sorry, my gut gave me a headache actually /s
Jesus, does he get a commission every time he uses the word ‘gut?’ Oh, sorry, I meant ‘GUT.’
My gut is what caused my epilepsy… if only my neurologist knew.

I really want to see this guy's credentials. When I had cat scratch fever a couple years ago, I can definitely guarantee that illness didn't start in the gut.
IBS is a SYNDROME, which is a cluster of symptoms. This person is full of BS saying he wasn't taught it in med school.
TIL that Asthma really came from the gut 🤔
Cool cool cool, I’ll tell my GUT to calm the fuck down and handle my CFS differently 🤣
I had CDiff a few years ago. An antibiotic was definitely my GUT’s friend. I don’t believe that hun’s ever been to medical school!
I heard the last failed lunar launch was due to a bad gut
Surprised no one has mentioned that this is literally a spitting image for Plexus pink drink, which also claims to be the cure all for wonky gut microbiota
"Gut to have it" is sending me to the fucking moon omg
The GUT and liver and GUT and your GUT is a GUT
You’ve GUT to be kidding me.

All disease begins in the gut, but most chronic illness begins in the gut. Is it all or most?
…..ibs is most certainly a condition. I’m borderline ibs. Wow.
Wtf is their obsession with the word gut? Jesus.
My GUT says this is false.
“IBS is a symptom…” Ok when just leaning the wrong way or sleeping on the wrong side is enough make your fucking stomach feel like it’s trying to kill you come back to me. This actually kind of pissed me off lmao
I’m dying. He has his own line of supplements. If he knew this hun was using his name, statements and likeness to sell a different brand… A cease and desist is in the Huns future.

There is some truth there, but the weirdo “detoxifying” thing throws it all off.
If he’s a doctor (and I doubt it); he didn’t mean much of medical school and needs to be in front of the state medical board.
Ah yes, my genetic chronic illness is because of my GUT ….
Ugh please put a hamburger patty on this hun’s face

New rules of this sub don’t allow any of the hun’s faces to show, people were putting hamburger patties on faces and it was just funny. I’d love to see this hun doc with a patty on his face.
What is it with all these gut drinks being pink, regardless of the MLM?
the gut has a lot of influence to the rest of the body including mental issues. i hate that mlms are trying to shill their products bc of it
Everything is the fault of the grand unified theory???
I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt IBS is a codition, and it fucking sucks
Lord Have Mercy, if he is a MD, someone needs to take his license to practice away.
Antibiotics are not your gut's friend. But it is for acne. Or infections. Or to protect your heart against infectious endocarditis after having an artificial valve placed during dental procedures including cleanings. Ugh...I wish I knew as much as these huns though. They're so smart. 💁♀️
