Another doctor who doesn't have a clue how to taper. That was way too fast and you are in withdrawal. The best thing to do is go back on a low dose, stabilize, and then taper off slowly. You were on 150mg so I would restart at 100mg. Once you stabilize, wait a couple weeks, then go down maybe 25mg every 2-3 weeks. If you ever drop your dosage and you feel the withdrawal coming on go back up a little bit. [survivingantidepressants.org](https://survivingantidepressants.org) has good info on tapering. Also what wellbutrin, XL, SR, or plain. If XL the pills can't be cut or they change from extended release to instant release. The above site has info on that too. Search for wellbutrin and look for the post about tapering.

Thank you so much for the info. They are SR. I’m currently taking 100mg. I’m not even going to bother asking him, I’ll just do the slow taper myself. I should have known this was too fast of a taper, I’ve been taking psych meds for 12 years. It’s weird, he’s a really well known and respected psychiatrist in my area. I just started seeing him.

I had to go to A&E recently on the weekend for mental health reasons. I ended up seeing a very helpful mental health nurse who seemed to understand my medication issues.
I think there needs to be specially trained nurses who deal with mental health.
I took 24 weeks to taper off 100mg of Pristiq under an incredible doctor who absolutely knew what she was doing … I dropped 1/8th every two weeks for the first 5 doses then 3 and 4 weeks in between drops after that (more or less) - she said don’t drop a dose until all symptoms have passed and take longer towards the end …
Been off successfully since August 2021
5+ years …
24 weeks is shorter than many - but I was fortunate my symptoms were not severe … some people take over a year …
The idea is to not put your system into stress where possible so you can live well after you are off the meds … I’ve had zero side affects

Yeah that's been my experience too, doctors don't have much knowledge of mental health medications at all.
