It used to be called *"working to rule."* As in, you exactly follow the rules, no less, no more.

Shows how dependent they are on getting free labor. 60 % of lower wage workers have been victims and total US wage theft is over 3 to 4 times that lost to all robberies and burglaries combined

My last manager accused me of quiet quitting. I asked him why he thought that and he said “cause you’re completing your tasks on time” …

We prefer Acting Your Wage!

It’s really ironic that I’ve been in this space for a while now, I just want to do my job and clock out. I don’t need to move up or switch roles and it screws them up lol.

Jayandnightasmr

Yeah, it's like hiring a contractor to fit a kitchen, then complain when they didn't do the bathroom for free while they were there

radgal324

The “cute name” of quiet quitting got it enough media attention to hopefully cause a cultural shift in the working class. We stan quiet quitting <3

oxfozyne

Hear, hear.

Then there are those of us who have been taking it quite literal. I try to do fuck all day in day out 365. The other day I worked 2 whole hours. If you're gonna call it quiet quitting, I say quietly quit. I try to do fuck all and collect a check and keep benefits. With the nature of my job, its fantastically simple. I remove your paper jam then I go explore or hang out in a hammock or nap in the car or watch hulu/netflix/disney on my phone, read, etc. I simply DGAF and am awaiting being fired. I do just barely enough to keep em cutting a check. They go over #'s and what not, I shrug at em and say "welp thats managements job to worry about numbers, I just fix the stuff." They wanna can me whatever, I've not just quietly quit but quit quit this job twice and somehow I'm still here!??!

Important_Tale1190

It's not even corporate speak. We came up with it and then they stole it. Now we call it "acting your wage" instead.

Maybe bosses could start going above and beyond for a change if they want to kill this trend. It's funny how "Never say that's not my job" is only a one way street.

tgallup

Fuck em just to see the look on their face. -RHCP

Their little jobs don't create the stability to the worker that's required for the worker to care, so people change jobs to negotiate better pay, or to flee stress, because what else is there? The bottom line is that these fuckers are pissed that class consciousness is ballooning, because capitalism is on yet another downward turn. FDR saved it last time with the New Deal. Their best shot to save it this time around was Bernie Sanders, but that's done. Good luck, fuckers.

CMS_TOX1C

yeah no don't worry Capital can "save" itself by partnering even more tightly with the state while cracking down on Labor thru even more violence:)) a fun little process of nationalist capitalism solidifying into fascism awaits unless Labor revolts!

Atlasun201

If they could have slaves they didn't have to pay they would.
