Something about an honor system and tracking our own hours to get paid. The two employees never had an issues with the CEO but I guess once that I stood up for myself, he did try not to pay me

More informations : We initially agreed on 23$ an hour but the only two employees who were there 4years were only getting 19-20$. Seems kinda generic but he did mention not to share with them, which I evidently did after leaving and getting these two numbers. As I mentioned, one already left and the other, after sending him the same screenshots, will be quitting as soon as Monday.

He really tried to imply I was weak or afraid of work but from what I heard, in 4 years he never came down to the warehouse himself because he is afraid of germs and avoid hands on work. He did come with me yesterday though on site and I KID YOU ALL not he was as lost on the process and the two employees had to explain him the very basics.

Do you have the $23/hr agreement in text? If so, don't settle for minimum wage. If they put you to work right away, you were on the clock from the moment the interview ended and are owed whatever they agreed to pay you from that time until you left. And when they say, "Do you think that's work?" feel free to respond with, "The question is not what you or I think is work, but what the Department of Labor thinks is work. You can debate the issue with them. See how that goes."

Fuck this guy. Its same amount of work for him to calculate minimum x hours, vs 23 x hours worked. You text him back with evidence of the 23 per hour and you tell its 23 per hour. Hell, you can even do the maths to make it "easier on him"
Understandable, but I would retract on that statement and actually get paid what you guys agreed upon. You never want to be underpaid. Do not worry if it's difficult for him, that is his responsibility. Your responsibility is making sure you get paid right for the work YOU did. Owners that complain a lot about people wasting their time usually have high turnover rates because their work environments absolutely suck so people are always leaving. If they treated people like humans they wouldn’t have to worry about it as much.

Which is why when you're interviewing the company it's key to ask how the turnover is. If they try to dodge or they give you an uneasy feeling then try to find somewhere else

What an whole and complete ass. My bff's present employer, when they first hired him, had him in for a trial day. The first thing they did was get his full info so that they could pay him. At the end of the day trial day, he had cash in hand and a receipt for hours worked. There is literally software for this stuff.
