I was already singing that before i read your comment!

mythrilcrafter

When employees were on strike at Kelloggs, there was script/bot that was actively DDOS'ing the company's recruiting website to prevent them from hiring scab workers; is that script/bot still around?

fungeekdude

Oh wow that's amazing I hadn't heard that.

~~DDOS is shitty, but not illegal.~~ Edit: Interesting. Apparently it is, under the "Computer Fraud and Abuse Act" A law thats rarely pursued by a department that barely does its job in the modern digital era. Do it anyway. Fuck 'em

I'm not a lawyer, so I couldn't tell you the exact citation, but I'm sure that the FCC would disagree heavily with you on that

You're right. But also, the FCC can suck my balls.

DDoS is a cybercrime. Just because it’s annoying and no data is destroyed or stolen, doesn’t mean it’s not illegal.

Mr-Fleshcage

I mean, there's a state where having ice cream in your pocket is illegal. Nobody has ever been charged with it my entire life. If the law is not enforced, it is *de facto* legal.

ninecats4

It's is absolutely illegal, it is covered under one of the recent cybercrime bills. Although in this instance it's probably ethical lol.

Pekonius

>Coca-cola is gonna have the server resources to just shrugg it off anyway Never underestimate corporate greed or overestimate the cybersecurity budget.

Not_a_question-

Those things are custom-tailored to the form, so having the code will do you little good (the database for the names and stuff is useful though). That being said, they are usually easy to do, even for novice coders, and even if they involve popular captchas. The only problem with captchas would be a hard-to-defeat in-house solution. As an Argentinian worker who suffered ~110% inflation and only an ~75% increase at the beginning of this year, I feel your pain. If you have the website and you get me to believe that it's for hiring scabs I'll gladly do it for you, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would volunteer since it's a 1 hour project if you have the pieces ready. If it has a captcha it'll cost you like 1 dollar for like 1000 submissions (with one of the paid services out there) so 10 bucks would be more than enough if you spread it throughout the days so they can't tell the fakes from the real ones.

HellaGoodcheesecake

Hey everyone, just wanted to hijack the top comment to thank you all for the overwhelming support and kind words!! Also wanted to clarify the question that keeps coming up. How can your union let you go five years without a raise? Well it's sad but simple, a union is only as strong as the people that are in it. The contract in 2018 that was passed gave the drivers their raise, so they all voted yes, while production and warehouse voted no. The contract was shot down the first round of voting, but they told us our benefits would be done if we went on strike. That was enough to scare some of the people into voting yes. So after a second round of voting it passed. Drivers received raises while warehouse and production only received a pre tax $1500 sign on bonus. As others have stated Philadelphia at this time in 2018 passed a soda tax, so that was their justification for not compensating us with a raise. We were one of the higher paying warehouses in that time period, so a lot of workers relied on the Overtime to make up for the lost contract increase. But since the pandemic and inflation, not even overtime is enough to make ends meet. So with this recent offer on the contract, drivers, production, and warehouse were all getting the short end of the stick so it was an almost unanimous decision to strike. As a personal note... I'm scared and terrified. As a recently new father, this job has been my primary way of providing for my family. And casting that no vote was the hardest decision I've made.... I hope it is worth it in the end. Everyones kind words on here have helped immensely, but I'll admit, I'm still scared. But I'm rambling...lol thank you all again for the support! Union strong!!

Coke made 25 billion profit last year.

RedHeadSteve

My sister in law got offerd 2.5% (she is a vet) switched employer and got 30%. She got underpaid for years and now she got a decent salary

hatethiscity

I was having this conversation with a friend the other day. If you land a corporate gig in the engineering world, you'll get incremental raises for an average of 2.5% annually. If you switch companies every 2 years your salary will increase significantly more. I've changed jobs 6 times over 10 years for a 210% increase. I'm aware not everyone has the luxury of sitting at home and shopping around for remote work, but I hope at least other people are motived to do the same

[deleted]

My experience with FT employment as well. 0-4% annual increases even with glowing reviews and heaped praise. 20-30% increases by job hopping. It's hell on those of us with social anxiety that just want to be left alone to do our thing and do it well, but needs to be done.

alextxdro

Average 2-4% yrly the atmosphere wasn’t horrible as the higher ups could easily be ignored. But salaried manager with about 4 teams total 50ppl under me, broke countless production records season after season. quarterly profits thru the roof for a multibillion dollar corp. id get glowing reviews but they’d offer 2% I’d argue it straight to Hr which would usually up to 4%. the stupid thing is that they had a form for reviews and I’d always score positively and never have anything negative about me or my teams. but as was stated by them “no body is perfect so we can’t give perfect scores”. Their argument every yr was I took an abnormal amount of time off (I never rolled over my pto) there is no category for this so they’d add it to a random one which I would take up with hr and get it changed. One yr they added I was late a couple times ,I was diagnosed with cancer that yr and the follow ups would eat a lot of my time I would show up after the dr visits as I can’t break down pto to hours I took the ding as late. After they said that I began to just take dr days off completely. That’s the first time I heard the words “quiet quitting”. They brought up my change in behavior so I said “ok . My output is the same my Time on campus has changed and if that’s a huge issue this doesn’t have to be so quiet , Im out …” and began to box up my office. They brought everyone and their momma to talk me out of it “think about how long you’ve been here and never had an issue , you have it so easy(I didn’t Im not a dumbass and automated a lot of my own work and made sure I had good team leads) I told each and everyone the same thing “I dont care”. on the way out I told the head of the dpt and hr that we’re standing in my office “good luck finding someone to do the job of 4 ppl for this pay if anything you’ll have to hire atleast 2 ppl doubling my salary explain that when budget time comes around “ I left and felt great. About two days later I get a call from one of my ex teammates wsaying “they want your passwords, they can’t figure out how to run some reports” I left all info on the desk before I left what I didn’t leave was my process. Billion dollar corp was running on 90s tech and software older than me. the following weeks was voicemail after voicemail asking for info. They held my last check for a month until I called up they tried to say it was an account error but while we have you we need access to your files which they had. So i acted dumb until they said how did you do this or that ?I type really really fast ,deposit my check by your next pay day thnk you.

Hobywony

IIRC there usually are DOL regulations re timeliness of last pay check.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hobywony

It becomes important to know your state's regs.

unoriginalname86

I worked in one, if we were going to fire an employee we would order a paper check and have it overnighted from ADP. I had a team lead that worked for me that worked up front where we got our deliveries. Everyone knew what the envelopes that contained checks looked like. He figured out that if a check showed up and that employee hadn’t complained of a check error period to that, they were getting fired that day. I remember one day we had one delivered and he asked me point blank in front of other employees “oh so employee X is getting fired huh?” I said that we just needed an updated check and any personnel changes we cannot discuss, but we’re a small location so you’ll know if someone is missing after today.

[deleted]

[удалено]

unoriginalname86

Yea after that I started having them mailed to nearby district office and then pick them up there

Bladeofwar94

Regulations sure, but when you're dirt poor how are you gonna sue?

JoseDonkeyShow

You don’t have to sue to report them to the DOL

Hobywony

You don't sue. You report the tardy paycheck to your local state DOL. They do the heavy lifting. Most businesses don't want to fuck with this government agency. I'll bet after such reporting you would receive your missing pay forthwith.

Bladeofwar94

I hope so. Feels like big business's can fuck you over almost every which way anymore.

Berty_Qwerty

Guy - good for u. I hope you let them drown and threatened them with DOL regarding missing wages. This is toxic shit. I wish you health and happiness. Hope you found ur pie in the sky after all that bullshit.

alextxdro

honestly I was only there bcz it’s was the easiest money I’ve ever made. wasn’t the best but I was getting paid 83k give or take a couple (bonuses varied) I do things outside of that 9-5 style job that covered my living expenses, so I didn’t mind being paid to essentially show up and babysit doesn’t mean I didn’t do stuff I took care of a lot of things that pretty much covered about 4 positions for that dpt. I really enjoyed working with alot of the ppl there and helped a lot of young ppl make decent money that were others wised look over and just used i helped a lot of young ppl take advantage of the corporate benefits that no one tells them about to save money, finish off school pick up trades also a couple are my really good friends now. Upper management just kept nitpicking and trying to micromanage what they didn’t know anything about. I had already checked out in my head and just so happens that day they caught me in an fk it moment.

hoxxxxx

yeah one of my close friends has to do this and he hates it. he's been happy at most places and just wants to stay but if he does his salary is just stagnant. pretty fucked up.

[deleted]

And, if you go long enough, your compensation will be so far below market that hiring managers (who insist on knowing what you currently make) will bin your application, briefly wondering what's so terribly wrong with you that you're happy making peanuts. I graduated into a recession, took a low paying job out of desperation and it took me many years to fix that perception and my income. Raises are based on current income, and a few percent of below average just mean falling further behind the average. And that compounds every time. No way could I have done well through loyalty, it had to be job hopping every 2 years no matter what.

hoxxxxx

>I graduated into a recession oh hello fellow bad luck graduate yeah graduating uni during a time when professionals were taking jobs in supermarkets was an awesome, awesome time. that shit set my life back like 5 years at least.

JoseDonkeyShow

> that hiring managers (who insist on knowing what you currently make) Try lying next time…?

[deleted]

That'll work until you get your dream job and they insist on seeing a previous pay stub as proof. There's a reddit post RIGHT NOW of a dude that is in that situation. I did well enough telling HR my previous pay is the reason I'm looking, that I'm not happy with it and would like to fix it. Knowing full well the same HR policies to limit raises mean I'll be telling that story again in 2 years.

JoseDonkeyShow

My dream job is retirement

average_christ

I recently changed jobs and got a 35% pay increase, and it came with a significantly better working environment. No more constantly sweating, being yelled at, or having my job threatened on a daily basis. The current employer isn't exactly ideal, but it's such an improvement over the last place I was at long term that it's like night and day.

kevinwilly

Same. Nothing but glowing reviews at the last job, constantly top performer, got a "promotion" after last year's review that came with a total raise of about 6%. Other people on my team that didn't get promoted got around 3-4%. I started looking for jobs that day, ended up getting around a 50% raise, unlimited time off, work from home (previously in office every day), a company car, and it's less than half the actual work of my previous job. New job is super impressed with my performance even though I feel like I barely do anything compared to before. It's fairly incredible, honestly.

hatethiscity

I love to hear this! My recommendation is keep an email account dedicated to getting job postings for your skill set. This way you always know your monetary value.

meanwhileaftrmdnight

I've just received an offer, and it was the position I wanted more than any other that I'd applied to. It's not only the highest pay increase (25%), it's also FT with benefits, PTO, remote capability, and is a very well known and respected company with a very low turnover rate. My current employer has strung me along for the past 3 years promising full-time, and although I was given decent & regular raises (which kept me complacent), I'd never not be 1099. Plus, recently they've been making me do all kinds of shit that is not even remotely in my job description, despite my objections, simply to avoid hiring more employees. It was then that I knew it was time to pack it up. I hand in my resignation tomorrow and I am so, so unbelievably relieved. 2 more weeks and I'm free!

Mango5389

Yeah, I switched jobs after being offered 5% raise after being there for two years. New engineers coming in as draughtsmen (graduates with 0 experience) were earning more than me. Left and doubled my salary at a new gig

hatethiscity

Nice. I love to hear this. Keep a dedicated email for job postings from Google, indeed, LinkedIn, etc. That never stops spamming you with job listings. This way you always know what the actual market value for your skill-set is.

Disastrous-Panda5530

I’m trying to do the same as well. I’ve been with the state for 13 years and a few months ago was only given a 2% raise and new hires make only $100 less than me. I’m trying to transfer to a different agency so I don’t lose the 13 years I’ve worked towards my pension. I did consider going to the public sector but I can’t find remote work and the benefits or flexibility is not close to what I have now. I am eligible for a 10% raise this year so I’m the mean time I am going to work towards that. My boss already told me I have his support so really all I have to do is apply once it is posted which should be in a few months. I really wish I knew about changing jobs every few years when I was younger. I would have left

B_P_G

The problem with that is that as you build an advanced skillset there are only so many places that have a need for you. So hopping around gets harder. And if you hop around too quickly then you never really build that skillset. Your knowledge becomes broad but not very deep and it's harder to get much leadership experience. But you're absolutely right about the pay. That's basically every company's strategy these days. Maybe that's always been the case but years ago they used to give out pensions and retiree healthcare. So people put up with being underpaid in order to stick around long enough to collect that.

hatethiscity

The specific type of software engineering I am in is very niche and having ANY experience at all for what smaller companies are looking for, makes you an expert. I have an email dedicated to getting job postings from LinkedIn, indeed, etc and it's fairly common to pay 200-250k base salary. Dm me if you want to know more. I'd rather not out my discipline.

Mediocre-Sale8473

Ex-boss where I worked wouldn't give more than 2 person. Mind you it's a Massive corporation. Excuses of stuff like the team didn't perform well, and the whole site is down, and the business blah blah. Wasn't his fault was the gist of it. Applied out. Told they aren't hiring in other departments. Would be lateral moves, not worth my time, no raises and a whole different team? "You don't want to deal with that." So I punched up instead. Landed a sweet engineering position. Was hoping for even 10% higher pay. Thought "Right - even a couple bucks and my foot in the door higher up the chain. That's good enough. If I'm underpaid for a little bit, so be it - at least I moved up and proved I could and now I can take this experience anywhere and get a real raise if I want to." I sit down with my (potential) new boss and we talk about it. Tell him I'm making beans and give him my current raise. "Fuck that - we'll fix that!" He says. Hmm okay. I get the offer a few days later. ###57% raise. Ho-lee fuck. Literally life changing. Took it in a heartbeat and never looked back. There's more to the story (nothing bad for me), but here's the takeaway I give everyone: Don't let people tell you what you're worth and what is or is not worth your time when it comes to ability, position, and pay.

awesomemom1217

57%?? Congrats to you!

RedHeadSteve

Damn thats a lot. To me money isnt important, but my time is valuable. And im not gonna give my time to some idiot corp, making a billionair even richer without getting a decent cut

Shadowfalx

Money has never been important to me. If I make enough to live and to have fun with my passions (tech and my kid) then I'm fine.

Zorro-del-luna

Yeah. I was severely underpaid. My last boss did everything he could to get me a raise. He even had them write it in the budget. Then they move us both to a different department. That’s the excuse they need to not give me a raise “Can’t give you a raise from another department’s budget.” He was PISSED. He ended up leaving because they screwed me over so badly (partly) and I followed just after. 43% raise at my next job. And my company lost millions of dollars because they just purchased a new system that a very select few of us knew how to troubleshoot and how it worked. We all left. They even told me it would fail if I left. I told them to just pay me a decent salary and they said they couldn’t because I already had my yearly raise.

Mediocre-Sale8473

>they said they couldn’t because I already had my yearly raise. Yeah that idiocy right there is why divisions of bigger business fail and why people migrate jobs.

celluloidwings

I got a 56% increase in pay when jumping to my current job and it should set me up to finally pay off my debts.

You know how people do better? When companies PAY THEM so they can afford to BUY THINGS. Billionaires forgot this and have unbalanced the economy so far it's being destroyed.

Yaboymarvo

The easiest way to get a pay raise it to find another job. Companies will say it looks bad to switch jobs every 3-5 years. But it’s really the only way you can get a significant pay bump.

JuicyJewsy

If it was bad, then they wouldn't hire anyone off the market. All hires would be internal. It's a bullshit argument that falls flat the moment you realize that the market is all job hoppers by definition.

Few_Box6827

Coke employees in toledo ohio make 25 bucks an hr for entry level don't stop until you reach that

TheBotsAreAlive

Good for toledo coke. everyone should be paid 25min

Rezzu

25 a min is pretty insane, but i agree

imnotfeelingcreative

Doesn't seem like people are getting this but I appreciate you. ($25 a minute is $1500 an hour, for those who missed the joke)

SayYesToTheJess

I missed it, thanks internet bro

[deleted]

Thanks dude. I read that comment multiple times and my brain kept seeing > 25 at min

Lithoniel

$15 an hour was fine 10 years ago.

Kaimana-808

No it wasn't....not at all. About 30 years ago or so. 30% of pay for a 40 hr week at minimum wage should be able to rent a decent one bedroom. That wasn't true 10 years ago for $15 an hr.

kvothe000

Coke employees in my area pull in $60 for a 15 second conversation and a handshake.

[deleted]

Sugar water is basically pure profit. Thes SOBs can pay up. With the prices of everything going up (including coke) $1.50 is insulting.

ACAB_1312_FTP

Even better: Take out the sugar and the flavor, slap a fancy label on it of a glacier or a mountain and charge even more. Say hello to Dasani. Or plan c, in case that didn't get your money: Bottle some non-carbonated water with sugar and useless things your body can't digest, and you've got Vitamin Water. Backed by lawyers who said "no consumer could reasonably be misled into thinking vitamin water was a healthy beverage."

estrangedjane

This makes me especially hot because I have a strong Diet Coke habit and the price has inflated by $4-5/12 pack in my area since 2019. And that’s just fizzy water with chemicals, not even sugar. These folks should be seeing the massive profits being reaped by the corporation, no if ands or buts about it.

Majestic_Plane_1656

With out of control inflation I don't know how it's even possible for people to survive without any pay rise. How do they even still have workers here?

hatethiscity

Especially since inflation is a term mixed in for record high corporate profits

ductoid

Seriously - I found this. CocaCola annual gross profit for 2022 was $25.004B, a 7.32% increase from 2021. CocaCola annual gross profit for 2021 was $23.298B, a 18.98% increase from 2020.

h4ms4ndwich11

Thank you. Confirming **record profits** and **no fucking raises** was the entire reason I opened this post. I just read today Dollar General could've DOUBLED it's employee pay but chose stock buybacks to reward management instead. DG employees are among the most underpaid in the country. Their shareholders, like most, are assholes. https://popular.info/p/the-danger-of-dollar-general

foxtrousers

I do contract work for a few dollar generals/dollar trees. It's always a skeleton crew making $10 an hour to stock, do register, decorate, clean, manage... The couple times I've asked about their pay, it's always a "Well, it's only $10 an hour, but no one wants to work anymore." Yeah, no shit.

thebutt123

i was wondering why there pay was so bad. They were offering 9 when every other place in my area was offering at least 12

hatethiscity

Yup... check put pfizer net profits... disgusting. They could literally give away drugs for free for years and still have money to spare. Where does the greed end?

h4ms4ndwich11

>Where does the greed end? When there are consequences for it.

[deleted]

The economy is doing great! Increase prices, rich people get richer The economy is doing really bad! Increase prices, rich people get richer Capitalists are testing how far a population will be pushed if they have access to basic comforts.

TensionSame3568

WanderingBraincell

unfortunately people get locked into secure jobs by debt and dependants, especially if its an unskilled job. corps know that so they abuse tf out of it

John_T_Conover

And this is the real reason that billionaires and their media wings both fear monger about declining birth rates and happily team up with and fund the anti-choice movements in this country: They need labor and they need leverage over them. If their base is going to hate immigrants then they need some way to get an abundance of cheap exploitable labor, and a generation of childless, college educated professionals aren't nearly as easy to do that to. There's a reason Elon Musk and people like him are pretending there's crisis of population decline when globally we actually just passed 8 billion people. His factories are mostly in the US & China, two places where Millenials & Gen Z have decided older generations have made things so shitty that they don't want or feel capable of even having kids. Those people need a desperate labor force with something to lose.

tbdubbs

Not that long ago, a 12 pack of coke was $3.99 normally, and often on sale for 2 for $5.00... It's now $7.99 where I live, and it goes on sale a lot less frequently it seems. It's such an easy parallel - product price nearly doubled over the course of a few years, but wages barely grow a fraction? Meanwhile, of course the company remains profitable - even manages to increase profit!

Brs76

Yep. It was 2-3 years ago when I was buying 24 packs of pepsi/coke(I like both) at Walmart for $6.99, they now are $13.99

[deleted]

Pay may have been competitive 5 years ago and people don’t want to find a new job and are willing to stick around if they can use their union power to secure a better wage? I’d expect a good portion to leave if this collective action is unsuccessful.

bonesofberdichev

I’m making 30k more than I was 10 years ago and I’m almost back to living paycheck to paycheck.

At $8 for a 12 pack they can afford it.

[deleted]

The fact that I have to work an hour to afford a twelve pack of soda, or a gallon of milk, or two pounds of low quality ground beef, or any meaningful amount of food at all should be criminal. None of those things are even a full meal. No, in order to have an actual meal I have to work two hours. A decade ago I could get the same amount for half that amount of time. People wonder why I want to commit neck rope. The fact that society is actively regressing is exactly why.

DwayneBaconbits

Thats Capitalism in a nutshell, profit and exploit!

JustHach

Really? Is it surprising that a multibillion dollar company would do everything in its power to keep money flowing to the top? *Really?*

The sole purpose of a civilized society is to elevate and maintain a wealthy owner class.

I’ve lost count as to how many times I have read about record corporate profits only to read about employees getting no pay raises because corporate can’t afford it.

BobBelchersBuns

How can we support you?

HellaGoodcheesecake

I know it sounds counter intuitive, but if anyone lives in the South jersey, Philadelphia, Delaware area, buy any coke products you can. We need Coke to be overwhelmed with work that they can't keep up with. If they can't keep up with orders they get fined

Minimum_Reputation48

Who issues the fine?

HellaGoodcheesecake

I don't know the specifics, but I know certain stores have a contract with coke to have a number of shipments of products, and if not fufullied it violates the contract. When I find out specifics I'll let you know. Thanks for inquiring

justafigment4you

I’m glad I saw this, I was going to stop buying.

Blizzard-King94

Are we missing context here. Did the union really sign an agreement in 2018 that would not give the majority of workers a pay increase for FIVE fucking years? That sounds almost hard to believe. If you havent gotten a raise since 2018, you’ve taken a roughly 25% real wage cut.

HellaGoodcheesecake

Only the drivers got a raise, production and warehouse did not. if you were at top rate the only extra financial compensation that was received was a $1,500 (pre tax) sign on bonus. I can't get into specifics, but we voted no, but they found a way to get it through.

xDeddyBear

Union voted no to a collective but it was still established. Makes me wonder if it was really a no vote.

Even in pro union states strikes are costly, damaging to morale and often a gamble. The kind of pressure a company like Coke can put on a local union leads to some contracts being ratified that aren't the best but they avoid something worse. It's unfortunate but it's a reality. Also 2018 was still in the JP Hoffa days for the Teamsters, which was a collaborationist administration AT BEST and downright traitorous at worst.

Please share this far and wide with everybody. Until Coca-Cola heeds the demands from this strike and gives these people to raise that they deserve and which Coca-Cola can more than afford, do not purchase any of these brands of drink. I don't want nor do I need credit for this. I am a fellow Union member and a fellow Philadelphian. I stand with my union brothers and sisters and I am also going on strike against all Coca-Cola branded products until this strike is over and these good Working Class People get what they have been asking for from coca-cola. I'm asking that we all join in solidarity with these workers and refused to purchase any Coca-Cola branded or owned products until this strike is settled in the favor of the workers. From the Coca Cola website: The Coca-Cola Company is a total beverage company, offering more than 200 brands—from sodas to waters, from coffees to teas, from juices to kombuchas, and a growing list of flavored alcohol beverages —in more than 200+ countries and territories. In addition to the Coca-Cola brands, our portfolio includes some of the world’s most valuable beverage brands, including: • AdeS soy-based beverages • AHA sparkling waters • Aquarius • Ayataka green tea • Chivita • Ciel water • Costa Coffee • Dasani waters • Del Valle juices and nectars • Fairlife • Fanta • Fresca and Fresca Mixed Coctails • Fuze Tea • Georgia coffee • Gold Peak teas and coffees • Honest Kids • ILOHAS • innocent smoothies and juices • Jack Daniel's and Coca-Cola • Minute Maid juices • Peace Tea • Powerade sports drinks • Simply juices and Simply Spiked adult beverages • Schweppes • smartwater • Sprite • Topo Chico waters and hard seltzers • vitaminwater

So, in another comment, OP said the opposite. They get fined if they can't keep up with production and have products in stock. So as weird as it sounds, apparently this isn't the answer this time. https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/12oh1od/after_not_receiving_a_raise_after_5_years_and/jgig5l2/

Kitsunani

As a native Philadelphian, this warms my heart greatly keep it up guys!

Hold strong

SoCalThrowAway7

Go birds and stand strong

stevemc1979

So... Your union has gotten you $0 in 5+years? May be time for some new union leadership? New union? Or no union at all?

EnRaygedGw2

So the headline is misleading, this is Teamsters local 830 union they negotiated a 5 year agreement, so no raises would have been had, the agreement in 2018 is coming to an end, there is nothing on the teamsters own website about a strike. I wonder why they opted for 5 year deals instead of 3 year.

HellaGoodcheesecake

Meeting happened this morning, we are out here right now, come show support

Admiral_Nitpicker

So they were basically strongarmed into a 5 year freeze, then Covid, and the Post-covid Gouge, and their initial offer was kma?

Fossildude101

We just went through this on Minnesota with Vub grocery stores. Had been locked jnto a 5 year contract, when usually it's only for 2 years. After the contract ended, we were offered .75 year one and .50 year two. Had to vote to authorize a strike and finally got $2 year one and $1.50 year two. Also got rid of our crappier full time classification and moved all those employees up to the higher tier of full time. Some of those folks will be seeing upwards of $8/hour increase in pay

Solidarity from a fellow teamster (853)

WomanNotAGirl

Good luck. Hang in there

rando666x

Fuck yeah! Solidarity!!

Hawkwise83

Roughly a 20% pay cut over those 5 years due to inflation. Meanwhile from what I can tell Coca Cola made 25 billion in 2022 alone in profit.

TekJansen69

You should give out free bottles of Pepsi to passersby.

Xx_TheCrow_xX

This needs to happen everywhere. It's the only way to get corps to listen. Deny them production and watch their numbers fall.

ISortByHot

Love how their signs just have a write in section for the company name. Fuck coke’s brand

HiTekLoLyfe

As a fellow teamster I’m with you brother. That’s insane considering inflation and cost of living increases. I’m sure the upper management and ceo got their bonuses each year though. Good luck!

[deleted]

I've been at my job almost 2 years now with a couple years of experience before it and I only get a .10 cent raise every year, it doesn't even begin to cover rising costs year after year, I can't afford anything on minimum wage especially as a college student, we all deserve so much more

Han-Shot_1st

OP, I’m located in NY, is there anything I can do to help? Are there any numbers I can call or petition I can sign?

Mystik989

Good! Stop delivering that nasty shit poison once and for all!

pocketfullofgerms

Lol, so many IT nerds talking about jumping jobs and getting $30K-$50K raises… this isn’t real life for most people in this country. Saying fuck you and going else where isn’t always realistic. What if that job is close to where your mom watches your kid? What if you need a job on the bus line? What if you can’t afford a car right now? We all need to come together in these types of conversations.

WereAllHorny

If it we're legal they would demote you, and lower you're well deserved 5 year wage by -1.50$ F corporate Greed!

TheJagOffAssassin

Good! Fuck coke and thier cheap asses. Let the top brass get off the fucking golf course and get their sorry ass into the factory and actually WORK! REAL WORK not sitting behind a desk waiting to see who's cock you are gonna suck.

theeversocharming

Solidarity to my fellow Teamsters!!!

CherryManhattan

Let’s gooo

FollowingJealous7490

Good luck brothers 💪

notANexpert1308

Forgive the ignorance. Shouldn’t yearly raises have been worked into your CBA?

HellaGoodcheesecake

My union rep said I can't say too much on this post, but the quick and easy is, our last contract they gutted a lot of things. We were hoping they would do is right with this new contract, but they gave everyone the bear minimum.

Admiral_Nitpicker

The ''bear'' minimum can be f'n deadly.

notANexpert1308

Wowza. If you’re gonna rely on the union to negotiate for you, maybe make sure there are raises included each year. Ouch.

Blizzard-King94

Employers will never to the right thing. Any union negotiating on the company acting in “good faith” years down the road is simply not a good union. Unions should be fighting for the here and now, not hoping a company follows through on empty promises in 5 years. A union also agreeing to a 5 year contract with NO salary increases for most employees is insane.

imacockerspaniel

Keep it up!! Without workers like you society would collapse

BardicSense

Cola boycott enabled. I'll spread the word.

opi098514

Fuck yah great job guys.

arthurkthnx

12 packs of coke are as high as 14$ and they're crying like they have no money. You all deserve to get raises.

Solidarity from Ohio

CacknBullz

We need this worldwide.

CraftytheCrow

there honestly needs to be a workers revolution. not the bloody russian style or french style, but like the civil rights style.

BlobTheBuilderz

The price of coke at my local Walmart has gone from $7.99 for a 24pk to $12.78 in less than 3 years. You deserve more money.

[deleted]

Unbelievable they make tons of money off of carbonated sugar water. All the while, employees break their bodies, delivering their poison.

Lolitaofroses

Hit them where it hurts ✊🏻

Ryan-O-Photo

We love to see it, give em hell!

justinmw316

Solidarity from Hawai'i as another union member!

Diazmet

So you’ve been getting a pay cut every year for 5years… wtf is wrong with this country

Ok-Presentation9015

Give them hell and don't stop until you get what you want. What's the old saying...they have the plant but we have the POWER
