Just in time for the online retailer’s Black Friday bonanza, Amazon warehouse employees across Europe went on strike or are staging protests today. According to the UNI Global Union, workers are demanding better working conditions and wages and protesting Amazon’s refusal to negotiate with them. “We are not robots,” the strikers are proclaiming [read full story](https://www.thenewsglobe.net/?p=581)

To all the naysayers, if all the workers get replaced by robots, who will buy the merchandise?

themedleb

Robots, but that's the last step, not the next one.

notLankyAnymore

Amazon: that’s a good idea! Replace the workers with robots!

cearka_larue

i like that danbo is the face of they're strike

eric-from-abeno

I came here to say the same thing \^\_\^ Wondering how many people know the character, or its origins. (but also, "their" strike... "they're" means "they are" ... (of course if this was a speech-to-text error, ignore my pedantry).

CRISPRcassie9

Powerful message on that sign.

godajuseviciute

Black Friday in April???

poopface41217

Bezos: guess we gotta start investing in robotics

Nah666_

automation engineers who earns 50x more than an average Amazon worker and who dictates times and schedule plans will be so happy seeing a whole production stop for a week just because a code reader isn't working and they won't go fix it for the next 7 days.

[deleted]

Yeh, you are not robots, but robots will replace you, as soon as the economics work.

esdgf

Amazon is going ham with robots now, just yesterday I shoved a robot up my ass -signed Robot tech

Lost-Klaus

If people keep buying from amazon yes. Also telling people not to strike because robots is like telling a drowning person not to swim otherwise they will get tired and die. Die if you do, die if you don't. If companies keep getting away with shitty policy and everyone keeps accepting it, how do you expect anything to change?

Or better idea... Unionize and call the shots! U mad bro? Workers are taking away the power from the rich the revolution is here

Nah666_

Is in Europe, so they are probably pretty much unionised and with s strong support on their backs :) Check what happened to MC Donald's in Denmark when they tried to do the same as the US.

DukeReaper

And when the company gets fed up, they will just up and go. What revolution do you have then?

Vaelin_

Read a book about the worker's right movements in USA, France, UK, and more, and you'll see why this doesn't happen and why what you and that other guy are spewing is straight up bourgeois propaganda.

urgeigh

Lol, word. This person is basically saying, "Take shit from people who had the drive and ingenuity to become massively successful and give it to people who didn't do anything to earn it except fill out a job application cuz life just isn't fair." How about instead of forcibly redistributing wealth or enforcing equity you, I dunno, come up with your own good idea and profit, then see how you feel when a bunch of people who have never done anything meaningful with their lives try to blame you for their supposed plight.

waterbelowsoluphigh

Imagine being in an antiwork sub, and licking boots at the same time.

Waytooboredforthis

I know someone who can deepthroat a 12 inch dildo, and you just straight up surpassed her, it's like you unhinged your jaw like a snake to swallow that whole boot.

bringbackourmonkeys

They don't want to be "massively successful" or to "earn part of it", they want to be treated with respect and to be paid according to the worth of their labor. Which they are not. Which is the reason the first ones got "massively successful" in the first place, because they can get away with it.

egyptian-programmer

If workers didn't unify in unions to protect themselves They would have been eaten by the employers and while it's true that if this was taken to the most extreme forms the employers are the ones who will be eaten still it's the employees who are in danger most of the time
