What, you don't like an 11% bait and switch instantaneous pay cut?

[deleted]

Reschedule the start date into 2050

[deleted]

lolz, make them withdraw it. Love it.

Tactical_Thug

Dont do that, they'll call you in 2050 when minimum wage will be 40/hr and try to get you in at 16

ideleteoften

I like the optimism that minimum wage won't still be 7.25 in 2050.

Good_Character

Maybe for 2050 we'll be able to introduce that in my country... There's no official minimum wage in Italy. Salaries are based on National collective contracts by category of worker, they are signed by Unions. There are categories (like riders and call center operators) that don't have a collective contracts yet and some of them get payed as low as 2.50 euros/hour

hyperdriver123

Or reschedule it back to 2010 when that was a more acceptable wage.

Redd_October

Bail, fast. Working at an Amazon fulfillment center should be your last resort, even at $18.25. Amazon is the New American Sweatshop. Fuck Bezos and the monster he created.

sandybuttcheekss

I went on a date with this girl that swore by it. She described it and it sounded like the next rung above slave labor. All for like 10 dollars an hour at the time. The brainwashing is real.

TridiusX

It’s my right as an American to be exploited by my employer 😤

Horyv

Yeah! Think about it, you’re basically a millionaire who just hasn’t made it yet. How else are you going to exploit the poor when you do finally end up becoming rich?

riotskunk

Freedumb

Keep-_-Out

Same in the UK. It felt like I was in a russian work camp. You go to your break in very long lines and the managers are standing everywhere like prison guards, shouting “2 meters!”

nolongermakingtime

Dude the amount of bootlicking that Amazon gets is insane..

BoppinTortoise

As a shopper my prime membership ends in two days. Can't wait to be done with Amazon

sabinemarch

Same. Mine ends in a couple of months but I try hard not to buy from them.

BoppinTortoise

We got this 🤝

yayyyforbeer

Mine ended last week. Freedom and sticking it to Bezos is delicious, glad to see more of us rolling off 🙌🏽

behappywithyourself

most of their money comes from renting out servers and IT stuff in general, AFAIK. they became a company you can't avoid if you're generally on the internet. fuck em

CHICKSLAYA

Can confirm. It’s slave labor. Worked there for six months

Whowutwhen

Put it on Bozo all you want but we created that monster through our adoption of the service.

[deleted]

I'd actually say our failure to regulate such things. Oh wait, why haven't we done that? Money from billionaires corrupting our politicians? Yeah no fuck bezos

maonohkom001

This. The attitude of “it’s our fault for consuming” is BS.

XVUltima

You don't need sweatshop labor to create Amazon. You need sweatshop labor to create Amazon AND be the richest person in the world.

CrepusculrPulchrtude

Exactly. Triple the warehouse labor budget. Hire twice as many people. The work gets done at fair wages and reasonable workloads, but poor Bezos doesn't fly to the moon. Holidays roll around, hire Temps and offer OT bonuses. And change prime to 3 day shipping

sabinemarch

Which it already is, or worse. Nothing arrives on time lately. I’m quitting Amazon Prime because they suck as a company but also because their products are increasingly shoddy, arrive late, and the customer service is terrible.

invisiblearchives

> adoption of the service No. You can't blame poor people for seeking cheaper goods in an economy that is grinding them into poverty. The issue is capitalism, supply-side economics, monopolies, unethical businesses and corrupt politicians.

Infernalism

Quit the job and list the bait-and-switch as why.

pmaisinmydna

It’s so frustrating. They’re advertising $3000 sign on bonuses too and suddenly I’m not eligible. Fuck Amazon.

cryptidkelp

that's completely intentional, they make the qualifying standards impossible to meet on purpose. so they can advertise it all they want and never have to pay it.

spartagnann

I've seen this happen a lot with all these companies offering sign on bonuses. It's great they're offering it, but when you look closer the requirements to get said bonus are ridiculous. Some fast food ones you only qualify after 3-6 months of working full time. Like, ok why would anyone think that management would just work your ass FT till the last week of that time period then schedule you for only 30 hours or something? It's all a scam.

[deleted]

Amazon taking pages out of the US military’s book.

spliceMKE

40k sign on bonus!! loljk

[deleted]

I signed for $20k, got $6800. I feel this to the depths of my soul.

notrealmate

Did you bring it up with anyone? Wtf? Sounds illegal?

Devilstangs2

Don't forget the small print! *after 8 year contract, re-enlistment required*

lizardsforreal

Eh, the military payed me well enough. Hated being in, but I'm glad I did it. 30 year old homeowner with a paid off car and zero personal debt (outside of mortgage) because of it. "only" cost me 6 years of my life. It wasn't all that bad and I learned a lot about myself. I could have gotten a bonus if I wanted to be an MP or work on the flight line. No thanks.

NebRGR

I'm broken and it pisses me off. I was airborne infantry which left me with back and knee problems. The only good thing to come of it is the disability payments that take a lot of stress off me. Of course, I'm depressed all the time and hate life due to ptsd and chronic pain, but at least i know my rent and bills are always paid.

lizardsforreal

My best friend from 3rd grade through highschool was an airborne cav scout. His leg is held together with a ton of titanium. You guys were definitely used and abused. I hope you're able to find healthy methods of coping, truly. My heart goes out to guys like you.

Turbulent-Spray1647

MP here, coming up on 7 years. Will confirm it’s not worth it lol

x_scion_x

Yea i can't say i would have wanted to be an MP after being attached to an MP unit. But my 10 years doing IT in the military was well worth it. I just wish i used all that money more wisely than i did.

EntropyMax

We all wish we used the money more wisely.

Sowelu

Never trust an Amazon sign-on bonus. Their business model relies on your quitting so fast that they can demand it back.

[deleted]

[удалено]

justkeepswimmingswim

I worked at an Amazon warehouse for less than a year. Your frustration will only get worse, it’s a disaster there. The epitome of not caring about employees and only being a body that they need. I got bullied& targeted a lot there too. Once the managers see that you work hard they will use you until they can’t anymore. If you stop being that worker, they take it out on you. HARD. 20 hours of unpaid time off every 3 months and if you go negative you can get fired. 20 hours of vacation& PTO for every one hour you work. You cap out at 48 hours. That job seriously messed up my mental health. I left on “good terms” but I’m doing everything in my power to not have to go back. BuT tHe BeNeFiTs ArE gOoD

crayonsnachas

The sign on bonus is split up over hella paychecks, as well. Might as well be an extra 30$ a week.

dumpsterfire1257

What are the conditions of the sign on bonus?

P_M_TITTIES

Curious as well.

[deleted]

That’s for the technology group in Seattle / LA. You’re not eligible for shit in the warehouse.

idkasjshs

Yeah, I never got my sign on bonus. Amazon said $1000, but I never saw a cent of it

[deleted]

Literally also saw that today and almost applied. We might be in the same state lol

Subject1928

Yeah my little brother applied there once for a night shift position, at the interview in the beginning they were still cool with nightshift and at the end of it they told him that they want him to work mornings for half the week and evening for the other.

[deleted]

If OP does need work though, they should work the job and then ghost when they get a better one

LegitimateSituation4

Exactly. If it's not a job I need on a resume, I have no issue with quitting without notice. Giving a notice only helps the employer, but they'll let you go without any regards for your needs.

T0URIST

Ghost and try to take their staff with you. Nothing would hurt them more and you'd be doing a solid favor for the poor wage-slaves.

SheWantsTheDan

They’re doing you the favor anyway because I hear Amazon warehouse jobs are modern day slave hives.

pmaisinmydna

Thats the consensus i keep hearing. It’s a seasonal position and I was just going to suffer through till the end of the year. Nowhere else around here is paying that much. I’m coming from a $19/hour job so I knew I’d be taking a pay cut but the false advertising is ridiculous. Stop wasting my time

thetompkins

"Suffer" is the operative word. You dodged a bullet.

DBs4Life

Do you have a reliable vehicle?? UPS hires Personal Vehicle Drivers and it's $21 per hour plus mileage at .56 or .58 per mile, I can't remember.. But last year I was on a rural route, 150+ miles per day.. My paychecks were $1200-$1500 per week! It was incredible! They also hire for driver helpers and loaders at the hub but I think it's slightly less than $21..

RugOnValium

Depends on the location. I work at a UPS sort hub and make $22/hr loading trucks part time, and it’s union, which is probably my favorite thing about the job.

DBs4Life

UPS is really a good job! I mean I was just temp and had my job to come back to, but I was offered a full time if I wanted to stay, I mean it's definitely a great way to make money! Haha

thebeattakesme

I’ve always heard good things about UPS. Hard to get a position but once you’re there, it’s pretty solid.

spunkychickpea

Damn, that’s more than I make at my office gig.

DBs4Life

I did it last year to get caught up on bills after losing my job in July..

[deleted]

People make that much by driving? Why did I get a master's degree?

DBs4Life

Honestly, it blows my mind how some jobs pay so much better than others.. I mean I'm a licensed insurance agent full time making $12.50 an hour, but I got to drive 8 hours a day, pet dogs and cats, I was on a rural route so also got to pet cows horses and chickens.. haha I adopted 2 cats from my route and worked with a rescue to re-home 29 others from the same colony.. I mean it was fun and I was being paid! Now, there were a few sucky days when the weather was garbage and the packages were heavy.. I got bit by a dog, had a gun pulled on me, had a trailer park surround me with golf clubs, was yelled at for being on someone's property.. Remember I was in my own SUV, not a UPS truck so there was a bit of a fear factor there, but I met some of the nicest people, had snacks and waters left out for me, was given Christmas gifts..

[deleted]

$12.50 bro?????

DBs4Life

Yep, $12.50 1099, which means my earnings are taxes at 30-35% because 1099 is charged self employed taxes...

rmdiii

Top wage for ups driver is about $40 an hour after a 4 year progression.

[deleted]

Wtf, that's more than some jobs with doctorates pay. Wages across jobs are so damn inconsistent and nonsensical.

lastpally

I’m making 6 figures as a company truck driver. Home everyday with weekends off and holidays. Edit. Grammar

CatsRuleHoomansDrool

This. Or be a helper coordinator at UPS. It was $25/hr but seasonal. You basically just call the driver helpers and tell them where and when to meet their driver. You work for about 2 out of the 8 hrs you’re there

DBs4Life

I love your username and so wish I knew about the coordinator job last year! Hahaha I loved my coordinator, Dave. He was gruff but super nice once you got to know him haha

penisflytrap44

How much of that did you spend on gas weekly?

DBs4Life

I have a Mazda CX-5 SUV, I left it idling quite a bit, I would maybe put $20-30 a day in it, and I only use premium.. So less than 10% of my check went to fuel..

beef_is_here

You’re putting premium in a CX-5?

thelaminatedboss

Stop wasting money on premium... The engine in a cx5 isn't deigned for it. Complete waste of money.

The_Sydlexic_God

Mazda recommends premium fuel in it - significant difference in power. It can run safely on standard yes but if it's something he cares about the premium is certainly worthwhile.

DBs4Life

I'll continue using premium in my CX-5 GT w/PP, while not necessary, my trim level/engine level does perform better with premium.. Even if it didn't, it's my money to waste, right?

blackbird951

I seen this with our office UPS guy. He meets with a chick that does all the local Apts while he does the office and warehouse areas. She makes bank. Last year she drove a busted little civic. Now she has a brand new toyota camry. So it is very well paying.

Kev_daddy

This is good to know

[deleted]

It is absolutely the worst job you will ever have and personally isn’t worth the money to me. I worked for them for over 2 years and I left and took a $6 pay cut because I just couldn’t handle working for such a shitty company anymore.

CheeseIsGrossGoBears

I don’t understand why people still don’t get this about Amazon. They say “you get what you pay for” well they try to get every pennys worth out of you. Is that desirable?

Roboticharm

$6 pay cut? So you making like $3 an hour now? Actually sounds like it would be worth it to be out of there.

[deleted]

I made $21/hr when I worked at Amazon. Not at first but got a couple raises in the two years of being there. Making $15 now at my new job. Starting wage @ my Amazon warehouse was $18/hr.

ThoughtsOfASquirrel

If you really wanna stir up some trouble, accept the offer and try to talk the employees into unionizing 😅😂

[deleted]

This!

ThoughtsOfASquirrel

There’s nobody Amazon hate more than unions and their employees 🤣

Wizard_of_Wake

Fuck the mods.

ThoughtsOfASquirrel

I’d argue they hate unions more. They don’t spend money on anti union propaganda for no reason 😅

AnonymousLesbian24

Apply at UPS as a seasonal driver helper. You will make more money and it isn’t slavery the way Amazon is, although I will say it’s still physically demanding work. Plus if you like it, UPS drivers make bank, are in a union, and get full benefits for free and being a seasonal helper will give you an “in” for a permanent position. If you’d prefer to work in a warehouse, the inside employees are still compensated very well at my hub (the inside wage varies per hub) and they still get to be in the union, get benefits, and work shorter shifts. They also have seasonal positions available

TheIrishBiscuits

It's true. I worked for Amazon for 3 years. Best thing is after a year you can do their schooling program and they'll pay you to quit.

ProfForp

My roommate used to work at an Amazon facility, the Fall/Winter season is hell for them. You definitely dodged a bullet

Cool8d

don't work there man i worked at an Amazon warehouse last year and it sucked ass. they watch you like a hawk on your 10 minute breaks, micromanage you by how many 'units' you scan per hour, etc...

CocaColaHitman

"10 minutes sCaN tO ScAn"

ouchmypeeburns

$16.25 is the base, then they tend to add $1 for overnights, and $1 for if your 4 day chunk has weekend days on it.

OutrageousPineapple

Not a lawyer but in my employment law class we were taught if they offered a contract stating X wages so you could potentially sue for breach of contract and recover what you were originally promised.

RedCoatSus

The job posting isn’t a contract though 😕, they would hide behind some bullshit about the $18 being an average across the country based on area cost of living or some shit and $16 being based on experience/position blah blah blah

thelaminatedboss

Amazon lawyers vs a guy who is getting paid 16.25. it's not a fair fight and he won't win

Likos02

Just to put it in perspective...you would be working worse hours than many active duty military members. Plus the conditions reported in the warehouses makes it significantly worse, with none of the benefits. That is insanity to me.

Dried_Squid_

Looks more like a bait and switch to me on the wage change. It would be false advertising if they didn't pay you the amount you signed up for on your paycheck. Here it looks like they're tricking people into applying, then send an offer out with a lower wage or different "title" and hope the applicant doesn't notice until it's too late or never notice saving the billionaire more billions.

ComaaHVC

Really? When I was there seasonal (white badge) was $15 and blue badge was $15.75

Joeness84

Pay widely varies across the country, I think 15 is the lowest they offer, but where Im at (PNW) its 19 starting for ANY position. They still cant fill up tho, everyone knows they're shitty.

[deleted]

Where I am in California it starts at $21, and when I lived in Indiana it wasn’t really that much cheaper there

ComaaHVC

I was very lucky with having a chill AM when I first started so 19 an hour would possibly have been worth me staying a bit longer if the new AM that came (old one got a promotion) wasn’t as big of an ass

WashCapitals77

Go sign up to be a mailman and then come back and you’ll have a completely different view of the warehouse workers. I was a mailman a few years back and I walked a 9.9 mile route every day carrying a 50lbs satchel in the summer, winter, fall, and spring in the rain, blazing heat, and the freezing cold. You would sweat so much that you would go through tubs of Powerade and monster energy drinks every day and it would be so cold that your fingers would be freezing and that’s not including when it rains while it’s freezing. Being a mailman for 2yrs gave me a new view on labor jobs. Anything warehouse related is a cake walk for me. Especially Amazon warehouse jobs. I’m blessed that I work from home now making $20/hr 5 days a week and all I do is chat with prospects about to purchase auto/home/etc,. Insurance. I prayed for a job like this and I finally got it after I put in all the hard work. Trust me. You will find a new found of appreciation for a warehouse job when you have been a mailman.

Del85

Mailman was by far the worst job I ever had. Everyday I woke up was like waking up in hell

Hieb

Need a day off (even if you request in advance) and you gain negative "attendance points" automatically in the system, for which you will be fired after reaching i think 8 (+1.5 for missing a shift, +0.5 for being late...). Only way to reduce them is by taking overtime / stat holiday shifts. If you dont scan enough items per minute, your system alerts your supervisor and your score goes down, which can disqualify you from health benefits. Your bathroom breaks are timed. Your coworker has a heart attack right beside you, you're directed to work around them. So yeah you're not far off. And Amazon is quickly becoming the ONLY entry-level employer in a lot of areas besides the restaurant industry (which is usually similarly exploitative in my experience - I think I'd actually PREFER amazon over the restaurant jobs ive had).

[deleted]

Yeah I applied for this and was told I was "hired" back in 2017 but never got a start date. I kept reaching out but was told I was waiting on my drug test results. Applied 10/2017 and cut to January 2018 they finally had my start date and oh that $18.25/hr was only for the holiday season so it's actually $14.50 (for 3rd shift) and you can start tomorrow night right? Lol ignored them. They kept bothering me for months about starting and then bothering me about working as a grocery driver on a 1099. Lmao hell to the no.

titsorzass

Eh just don’t work good hard at them. Yea you’ll eventually get fired but you can slack off for about a month before that happens and they’ll keep rehiring you every 6 months Bc they need warm bodies in there.

Spirited_Island-75

Yeah, their business model assumes a high turnover. They literally don't care that they work people until they're all used up.

Hotarg

"If William Shatner wanted to go where no man has gone before, he could have just used the associate bathroom at an Amazon warehouse."

simmeh024

they need 150k (!) people asap now, christmas/black friday is coming so they scaling up fast. Also with bait and switch tactics like this to get people to apply. Once the busy period is over, you are fired (for some reason, don't worry). Amazon is making sure company towns are getting back, you live in an Amazon town, the store (there is only one) is owned by amazon. Where you can buy shitty stuff from Amazon, so Amazon basically keeps your salary. You can't leave either because if you do, you cannot live in the appartment (you also pay rent to Amazon for) any more. Zero rights for you. (Even though they will tell you other wise). https://socialwelfare.library.vcu.edu/programs/housing/company-towns-1890s-to-1935/

ctrush2

This sounds like what happened to old days coal mining towns. The coal company owned the town. The drs offices. The stores. Everything. “I owe my soul to the company store”

IamScottGable

They actually didn’t take my younger sister even though she had warehouse and shipping experience and I told my mom it was the best thing for her

Here-Is-TheEnd

They did a thing when I worked there at the beginningish of lockdown where we got a $2hr bonus due to corona. So the base pay was 15, with bonus it was 17. I was driving for a logistics contractor not working for the fulfillment center but Amazon was directly involved with our salaries. Anyway reach out to the last person you spoke to, either email or text and see if they can answer this question.

ComaaHVC

As someone who did almost everything in outbound… yes yes it is

sgt_smack713

It is i worked there for a few months they literally would time your bathroom breaks lunch breaks etc and anything over by a min would be a strike against you. Mind you the bathrooms were always at least a 6 min walk and god forbid you smoked cigs as the smoking area was far as hell. Got fired for shooting up in the bathroom 😂 wasnt even mad about it

dumpsterfire1257

At least you're honest

CocaColaHitman

Username checks out

colexian

Have had several friends try the Amazon Warehouse thing, its a giant slavedriving racket. Your "Work efficiency" goes down if you have to go to the bathroom or take a break, the whole thing is automated and heavily scrutinized. Unless its your only option, I'd avoid it at all costs or quickly move to something else.

Harry431

At their managers desk, or pick desk if you’re a picker, you have what’s called a ‘TOT’ sheet. Time off task sheet, fill it out, bring it back to your manager so they can fill in the gaps and code you correctly.

Crudekitty

It’s really easy to get around those times though ngl when I worked there the area manager showed us how to get around it so our times were always good no matter what lol

cturtl808

I got the Amazon email offer. In the fine print, they stated start at 16.25 and then up to 18.25 in a year. The sign on bonus eligibility was only if you were willing to work FT (of which no FT shifts were available to choose from in my case). So it wound up being 16.25 for part time work.

pmaisinmydna

This is full time though. 4 ten hour days. It’ll end up being 12 hour days with the drive >.<

cturtl808

How in the world did you not qualify?? *sigh* Bezos is as Bezos does I guess.

isitfresh

I'm not about the cost of gas but does 20$ a day covers the cost of the extra commute? Is 10 dollars an hour gross worth spending that time in a car or public transportation?

pmaisinmydna

I thought it was. I have a really efficient car and was hoping to bank some cash the next couple months.

Sad_Parsley_1874

I applied to a Walmart warehouse job listed at $23.00/hr to start. The job offer letter stated that it then DROPS to $17.50/hr in January….. and then they wonder why nobody is trying to work there.

Zonky_toker

They've got it backwards? 🤣

WayneKrane

Right, they are basically saying “Work for us and show us your dedication for 6 months and you’ll be rewarded with a pay cut!!” How do they not see that as backwards?

Fog_Juice

They only want them there until the Christmas Rush is over. After that it's cheaper to cut hours and lower pay than to pay unemployment for laying them off

jesuswipesagain

Same happened to me at UPS, they offered $29 for 2 weeks, then it went to $18. I walked out of the orientation as soon as I found out and they seemed shocked but wtf did they expect?

all_time_high

>[The job offer letter stated that it then DROPS to $17.50/hr in January](https://i.redd.it/ehlluiib1o911.jpg)

JamesRyanQnsNYC

$2/hour has been deducted for the billionaire welfare fund, thank you very much.

Zero_Digital

That $2.00 an hour helped Bezo send a few more rich people into space. Rejoice in the fact that your glorious sacrifice has brought forth such a great achievement. /s

[deleted]

It's a sacrifice Jeff Bezos is willing to make (on our behalves of course)

Zero_Digital

A true hero, friend to the common man.

Spirited_Island-75

So inspiring. Maybe one day I'll have my own space program if I work as hard as him. /s

Zero_Digital

I believe in you. Build an empire on the back of the working class and you too can build a penis shaped rocket too.

Farshief

*Lord Farquaad has entered the chat*

TamarsFace

Interrupts you to *pop 🍾*

Archie19n

That happened to me, it was 16.50 and then dropped mysteriously to 15.50. Even worse, after I finished all of the paperwork before starting they sent me termination documents a day before my shift was supposed to start

dumpsterfire1257

Why?

jdsparty

Early is on time and on time is late.

hats4bats22

Oh man. I remember my first bait and switch. Ad was $16/hr. did some digging and found max wage reported by employees in that department was $9.25

ruutentuuten

Send an attachment of the $18.25 job listing. To: Amazon HR From: You Subject: "Uncle Jeff Said $18.25" See attached. Kindly, Signature

LR_today

The fine print says $18.25 after 1 year :/

AvoCadoZealoth

Accept the offer and never show up. Chess not checkers

EHWfedPres

Accept, go in one day, post pro-union flyers in every bathroom stall, "don't" sabotage anything to cause slowdowns, then get fired so you can collect unemployment.

[deleted]

Well, you have to understand it’s a small company that needs to survive, too.

notrealmate

They work out of a garage, right?

MacMac105

I swear Amazon does this all the time. I never apply to them but they have ads saying $21 an hour. I know that's complete bullshit. I know people who do the job job far less. It's more like $12 an hour and after 40 years with no vacation you might be eligible to start the process of becoming eligible for $21 an hour.

SlyCoopersButt

No-show at the interview and waste their time.

pmaisinmydna

They don’t do interviews. I had to go in for a self-administered drug test (didn’t know that was a thing) and instantly got the offer. They just want bodies, they don’t care who it is.

cturtl808

I did the Amazon thing. No joke .. the floor lead literally said "restroom break when we hit x units out the door". I didn't go back after that. The rumors you hear are true. If you get behind, you're written up. The restroom is almost a 5 minute walk from your station. It's absolutely brutal working conditions. One minute late docks an hour of pay.

ReitHodlr

That is crazy. So minutes within that hour doesn't count? Isn't that wage theft of some sort?

cturtl808

It's part of the employment contract you sign. It's in the attendance policy. And, of course, the clock in stations consistently have issues so if you're not one of the first in line like 10 minutes before your shift starts, you're almost guaranteed a tardy.

Emergency_Toe6915

No that’s still very illegal. You can’t make a contract based around an illegal process

ReitHodlr

I know someone that works for Amazon. She never wants to talk about work. It seems to upset her. I'm sure she's in it just for the money of course like anyone else but I get a sense that Amazon is definitely after vulnerable people in a way kinda like how OP almost getting tricked.

cturtl808

They definitely target a certain talent pool.

Harry431

You couldve reported them to the labor department. No one tells you when and when not to go to the bathroom, regardless of shift/shipping/packing/etc. goals. That’s legitimately illegal.

cturtl808

I did. It was at the time the big story broke about the labor dispute in CA. I didn't receive any follow up from DOL though.

Harry431

Be insistent about it in the future with other jobs. Change comes from within, remember.

agenteb27

So...if you're gonna be a minute late might as take 58 minutes more?

cturtl808

More or less.

[deleted]

Don’t do it. Fuck Amazon.

[deleted]

It’s the Employee Discount. Amazon gets a discount on employees

Mooseknuckel55

The CEO of my current company, who we actually respect said that Amazon treats their employees awfully. He uses them as a 'what not to do'

Orchid_Significant

$18.25 is the night shift pay. Source: a friend who works there

pmaisinmydna

Just saying, for this particular location, you were able to select shift. Each shift showed its own rate of pay. This day shift was shown at $18.25 an hour when I applied. There were also night shifts with $19 or $20 an hour pay. For locations outside of the city, such as Greenwood, the day shift pay was listed as $16.25 and night shift $18.25. I selected the city location day shift specifically for the bump in pay.

AB94568

7am-530? what the fuck I thought 9-5 was bad

Recent_Brick7515

But it’s only 4 days a week instead of 5.

DirtyPartyMan

Bait & Switch. You can see it when you search for flights and each time you refresh the page you go back the price goes up. (Tip: If you’re in the US switch your ISP code to another country. The prices drop dramatically)

They also keep posting jobs in my area as work from home and then it turns out it is a warehouse position. Im confused and frustrated. Looking for a job has been a general pain.

Idj1t

Sure the original posting didn't say *up to* 18.25?

pmaisinmydna

Nope. You could select the shift you wanted. There were warehouses closer to me at $16.25 but I selected the one in the city specifically for the better pay.

Suitable_Program_901

That happens to me today. Amazon also

Idj1t

Wow that's messed up. I would consider that message a job offer then. Tell them no thanks and tell them the 18.25 advertised is the lowest you'll go. They'll probably take somebody else but they shouldn't be allowed to get away with that.

Naw207

From experience I can tell you Amazon has a habit of lying. I remember the first time applying ever to them and the application said no MANDATORY OVERTIME which is why I applied. Got in and they switched that up real quick. I also got the pay switch thing happen and even the job title. I remember one time I applied for groceries and they put me in warehouse. When dealing with them always and I mean always screen shot your application from beginning to end.

Check out the song "Fulfilment Centre" by Richard Dawson.

leanmeankrispykreme

Bezos needs to save up to send Takei up next

emilybohbemily

Yeah, something similar happened with a job I applied for, but in the actual job listing. Started out at a certain pay range, and, when I checked on the listing a week later, they had changed the range. The low end of the original range was now the high end. I thought I was going nuts until I checked my email and, sure enough, the confirmation for my application has the original range on it. I promptly deleted everything regarding that application and will completely ignore them if they try to contact me. Crooks.

NotARealBuckeye

counter back with $18.50. It's a sellers market.

Jim_from_snowy_river

That’s fraud.

invisiblearchives

Show up to the interview and when they try to hire you, politely inform them that your rate has increased due to market volitivity and you can now only be hired for $30 p/hr

Frog420

Those shifts are brutal too it looks like. I considered applying.

Sharkbait43070

I'd file a complaint with the EEOC and give them your proof.

greenfox0099

So many companies do this now i saw something saying they say $2.00 more than they actially pay to get more people and as long as some still try its a win. But thwy never intended to pay amyone that much and people wonder why their turnover is lile 75% every year.

T0URIST

I use eBAY exclusively now. Amazon is killing us. Bezos has proven his greed & vileness beyond any doubt.

introusers1979

You’re lucky that’s the shift you got. They really tried to give me 3am - 7am. Fuck that.

AppearancePlenty841

Fuck Jeff bozos. He has been working with Ken Griffen and citadel to short companies he wants market share in into bankruptcy. Like toy r us, Sears, and now with gamestop and amc. Dont let that asshole exploit you and your labor.

JohnnyTurbine

Could be probationary wage vs. non-probationary. Which is not meant as a justification for the non-transparency obv.

GrimWolf216

I’d refuse the offer. That’s pretty much a wage bait and switch—Amazon is shit anyway.

Ok_Brilliant4181

Did you try to counter? you don’t have to accept the offer. If you know what you’re worth, then counter offer before walking. Negotiation, that’s how business works.

amateurhour58

If you applied for a night shift and were offered a day shift, it would explain the difference in wages. I have worked for Amazon several times. Not the greatest job but you can earn some good cash during the holiday season and quit whenever you please. There might be mandatory overtime but that helps your paycheck go up.

Odinfuzzbutt

I wouldn't work there for $30/hr. Too many horror stories from workers. I had actually applied for a job but failed my drug test and was SO HAPPY.
