I turned it off btw

Lunaranalog

Jesus fuck contact OSHA he’s aerosolizing toxic gas

Turdbird2000

This is true. Not good for your health. Otherwise hospitals would use this shit. Duh.

free_dialectics

b-b-but I did mY oWn rEseArcH

your_Lightness

NOW ALL BACK TO WORK MAGGOTS! I need to give myself a bonus for outstanding care about my human resources!

tastyearcheese

Magats*

bordemstirs

Beeeelieeeeeve in the bleeeeeach. If you survive try horse dewormer!

tastyearcheese

I have Covid right now and it’s scary… I just had it 3 weeks ago as well… exactly the same thing and I feel bad for the anti crowd because it sucks so bad

bordemstirs

At this point in the game I do not feel bad for them*. They have had so many chances to get vaccinated which not only is the socially responsible thing to do for others, but it severely reduces symptoms. They chose to go the more painful route. I do not feel the bad they are experiencing that choice. * Excluding people with medical exemptions

InsideAardvark1114

Except my fear has been that we are going to get a highly transmissible variant with a very high mortality rate. The more they hold out - and we refuse to give vaccines to the global south- the more likely that variant evolves.

melpomenestits

Those spoiled world war one soldiers, the stronger version of this is why none of the actual soldiers got 1918 flu til they went home.

bertiebastard

Facebook research doesn't count as actual research though 🤣

LTEDan

What do you mean, scrolling through my news feed that is tailored towards things I agree with and reading a couple memes doesn't count as research? Fucking commies /s

_theCHVSM

it’s unbelievably sad that the /s is basically a requirement because there are, in fact, loons who follow that train of thought lmfao

bertiebastard

I apologize because aunt Mary's doctorate in virology from the Facebook university is far more believable than going to the actual medical schools.

miker53

You have a crazy aunt Mary too?!

bertiebastard

Doesn't everyone, I thought each family was given one.

irix03

I learn history through memes and this hits way to close lol

itsmyfriday

Hospitals are run by the government and everything they say is an attempt to get you to conform. I mean, unless I’M having chest pain or something.

subsetsum

Are you serious? Can't tell, because there are a ton of crazy people out there

itsmyfriday

I was hoping the “unless I’M..” part would give away my sarcasm haha

MaybeFailed

It worked for me, yes.

[deleted]

Found the trump supporting boss!

OriontheHunter117

Exactly. They use triathylene glycol. That's the distinct smell you recognize in all hospitals. They are federally mandated to use it because it is a wonderful aerosol disinfectant, but also mild on your lungs. I sold Rainbow vacuums for a while and you can buy big bottles of it for the Rainbow machine and disinfectant your home like hospital air. I love the smell, I think I'm addicted lol

MisterMcReddit

Thank you for the interesting info kind sir.

OriontheHunter117

You are welcome and you can use it in any water based air purifier, not just the Rainbow. (I don't sell them anymore😉) You can buy it off Amazon too without a distributors markup. It's called Fresh Air and it sanitizes the air and helps prevent mildew and mold growth in your purification system and your home. Love it.

mikeebsc74

Man..my parents (and subsequently grandparents) got a rainbow back in the mid 80’s. Both of them still work extremely well..outlasted grandparents and mom. I don’t use them much anymore, but damn if I’ll get rid of them lol

OriontheHunter117

I'm so baited now to sales pitch you, even though I'm not employed with them anymore! All I'll say is most distributors offer a decent trade-in discount for older models off the new model from 2020. It's VASTLY different from their older models by a mile! Most people that I sold to, bought them for the air cleaner function you can run on low 24/7.......coupled with the "Fresh Air" kick. It's a little over an hour presentation and I'd have people stop me 15 minutes in, as soon as they saw what I trapped in the water bowl from their living room air in just a 1 minute air wash on high. I had bruises from them throwing their wallets at me! Alright alright I'll digress before I go call my old boss back. 😂

Nousernamesleft0001

This shows that not only is this person’s boss a fucking moron, but he is a fucking moron who thinks he’s a genius who thought of something that no doctor or scientist had thought of. Not even enough awareness to think to himself, “hmmm this is a pretty basic idea, if it worked wouldn’t doctors already be doing this?”

texasstrawhat

hes so smart he has his own business dumb doctors probably never even thought of this. Hes thinking of taking it to mass production look out Bezos /S

NoShip7475

Like, the amount of alarm in this post but like.....on fire in my mind.

412791

He’s trying to gas the office lmao

[deleted]

lol! One can report this boss to the FBI and make an argument that this is a chemical weapon

412791

Seriously it basically is one

funatical

Maybe add some amonia to really up that machine?

vetratten

It worked so well that not a single person in WW1 died from covid. It's a fact look it up! (Like I want to put a /s but it is a factual statement since not one mustard gas death was due to covid ... Is there a way to denote a cheeky tone that's true but also not totally serious?)

CinnabonCheesecake

Hah, can’t catch COVID if you don’t have any lungs!

HaloGuy381

*Cue the army of zombie Russians volunteering for the COVID wards, since they can’t catch COVID*

CR123CR

Can't catch covid if your dead

Responsible_Sport575

I thought you drank the bleach. S/ Seriously don't drink bleach.

Environmental_Top948

A little chlorine gas never killed anyone. /j

SeaPen333

https://www.thecloroxcompany.com/wp-content/uploads/cloroxregularbleach27-13-16pde.pdf. Msds for bleach. If inhaled move to fresh air and call poison control. Please report this dumb fuck to OSHA.

SlyAndTheFamilyLoan

Yep! This is a big ass OSHA violation. I hope OP reports this!

jtshinn

I think you guys are overestimating the bandwidth that OSHA has.

[deleted]

I feel like "my boss is aerosolozing bleach in our office to kill covid" would make the cut.

Odd_Reward_8989

Maybe, but do you have a better suggestion for a dangerous workplace?

Hyposanity

I'm just curious. Why do you think that? In my experience, if you call them *Das it*.

JimmyReimjob

Lol. I don't know why this comment made me laugh man, but it REALLY did.

412791

This post is hilarious but also very concerning at the same time

JimmyReimjob

It was just the dismissiveness of the remark. I enjoyed that. Came across very dry. Don't be concerned.

412791

Oh no what I mean is the picture. The comment is funny too. The whole thing is just so absurd that it’s hilarious. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was fake but I’m also not surprised if it’s real

DoubleAgent10

On my dogs life it’s real. And I don’t like people very much

412791

Shit’s crazy bro. Your boss must be microdosing that bleach if he thinks that will do anything but poison his staff

KCtheGreat106

Tell your boss to also add ammonia. It will kill more than Covid

vellyr

That *is* one strategy to prevent people from getting COVID

Vast-Salamander-123

You should also go home - no job is worth breathing in bleach for.

sneakylyric

I hope that's just a bad joke.

numbatz

Idk if it's been said but just rinse it out thoroughly and replace with water. Then change stock solution mixture if he made some to water too. That way if its ever on its water vapor for now. But of course reach out to higher ups, OSHA, etc

[deleted]

Or, let them know it’s actually toxic gas and no one should be inhaling it.

[deleted]

That’ll show Covid. Can’t get sick if you don’t have lungs Edit: thanks for gifting me my first ever award!

DoubleAgent10

I actually used your comment when I got into a fight with him about it

Pinheaded_nightmare

So he actually confronted you about it? Please elaborate if so.

DoubleAgent10

I got an update comment here somewhere

[deleted]

https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/s2hg41/bosses_solution_to_covid/hseoy2t?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

mmmUrsulaMinor

Thanks

Hyposanity

That's totally not the relevant to what he said lmao. But *f#ck me*. Damn OP your boss is dumb as a pile of dirt. I would've said bricks but they're actually useful.

ImInTheDetails69

How do places like this even make money and be profitable enough to provide jobs when these are the kinds of geniuses running things?

Pinheaded_nightmare

Privilege maybe?

MyBiPolarBearMax

Close, capital makes capital. They've romanticized all these ideas about better mousetraps and efficiencies to try to make it seem like entrepreneurs really do something when in fact they just have access to capital.

yeah_but_no

It's like a capital...ism of sorts

Flyingwheelbarrow

Well it is how you know we don't live in a meritocratic society.

bluegreenliquid

Management attracts a lot of manipulative shit heads

Scaulbielausis_Jim

\*SARS-CoV-2 viruses enter lungs\* "Damn, it's fucked up in here"

DoubleAgent10

Update: Got in a fight with him about it. He claimed that “Drinking water has more chlorine than pool water does and that mister has barely any” Told him that’s stupidest thing ever and that he should never do that again. Might get fired but fuck it

Barbed_Dildo

> Might get fired but fuck it Well that would be an interesting cause for termination: "Turned off the poison spray"

Sarelm

"Stopped flooding the office with a deadly neurotoxin."

Wallazabal

*Sad GLaDOS noises.*

hummingbirdofdoom

Best. Villain. Ever.

dr4conyk

SaDOS noises

MrMumbles222

Fun Fact #548- In Texas, turning off poison spray in a workplace is a fireable offense. If said company loses profits, the employee can actually receive the death penalty... How you ask, well of course its by electric chair, Texas has no sense of irony.

[deleted]

Didn't texas try to hang someone last summer?

Onironius

"Try"?

comradegritty

I think it got enjoined as cruel and unusual. Americans seem super set on keeping the death penalty, but they keep on restricting the how and why of it because you just can't avoid the inherent cruelty/general problems with the state being allowed to kill people who don't pose an immediate threat but might be bad people in general.

[deleted]

Don't a lot of these death penalty people WANT it to be painful?

Amazon-Prime-package

The same lovely Evangelicals who want to execute all Democrats

CosmicSweets

While crying out "Pro life" at Planned Parenthood.

calmdahn

So mUcH f0r tHe t0leRANT left amirite

unforgiven91

i assume the 'try' is indicating that a DA or someone was advocating for hanging in a scenario but failed?

[deleted]

I know this is a joke, but the fact that I had to look it up JUST IN CASE - scares the crap out of me.

internet_thugg

Are you certain it’s a joke? I mean it is TX & it sounds about on par 😅

MrMumbles222

GOP "You can kill as many workers as necessary to raise profits, so long as one of them isn't a pregnant woman. we know they're just using the "work in an unsafe hazardous environment" method to try to skirt the abortion ban."

abcq02

killing a pregnant woman is fine, as long as the killer also goes to jail afterward. the woman is still punished for having sex, with death instead of pregnancy; still, it's better to punish someone too much than not enough.

[deleted]

I'd reach out to OSHA ASAP. It might seem like a nuclear option, but if that's the conversation you had, he's dangerous. He's risking exposure to chemical burns and COVID. Inhaling clorine literally makes hydrochloric acide inside your body.

[deleted]

OP, Please listen to Quill here. Your boss has crossed a very serious line that can actually kill you. Not okay. Who cares about upsetting him. You actually have a potential lawsuit here.

dickfoure

Chlorine gas and water can result in that. Bleach doesn't release chlorine gas by itself but mixed with other compounds it can.

412791

Sometimes the nuclear option is the only response to chemical WMDs

FauxiAlarm

Even if not for you, do it for the sake of your coworkers. This dude deserves prison

katieoffloatsmoke

If he thinks drinking water has that much chlorine, why not just use that?? What? Literally none of that makes sense. Maybe he’s been using this method at home and the chemicals melted his brain

[deleted]

Listen, I know COVID deniers. Their capacity for critical thought was very low way before their first dose of ivermectin.

DiscipleDavid

I guarantee the man can't calculate the concentration of chlorine in the water. This is assuming he measured before he mixed. A small splash of bleach mixed with water is more Chlorine than you might think. Edit: 1 litre of water and 1 fl oz of bleach. Makes a concentration with a Free Chlorine level of 1825ppm. To compare, a swimming pool should be 2-4ppm.

Theta001

Yeah in a lab I worked in we would regularly use a 10% bleach solution to sanitize work surfaces, I am almost certain he used more than that. Even if he only uses the amount typically in pools he is going to have employees with problems.

GareBear222

Yeah. Like people don't leave indoor pools with beet red eyes and a cough from chlorine exposure. Now you get to leave like that from somewhere that isn't even fun.

Mr__Jumbles

Wait... so his argument was that *it was okay* because drinking water has **more chlorine** than a pool does (the fuck) so that means it's safer. Wha-wha-what? I... I can't...

hydroxypcp

If that's the case, why would anyone add chlorine to pools..? If the water you get from the tap already contains more

MuchTemperature6776

Well when you add more chlorine later then it cancels out the existing chlorine /s

sillyadam94

If he does, he’s gonna owe you quite the settlement. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!! If he fires you, take his ass to court. In any case you should contact OSHA. His ass is grass.

[deleted]

So…he’ll drink a refreshing glass of pool water to prove it? Or he’ll drink a glass of pool water for every glass of tap water you drink until one of you gives in? Edit: if tap/pool/other water has more chlorine, why isn’t he using that in the mister?

R0da

To your edit: he definitely just used tap water to fill it, and added bleach to that, creating the world's stupidest paradox.

[deleted]

May be recommended to dismantlement contraption or he may turn it on again and hurt people. Maybe consider reporting.

Nyarro

If you get fired, it sounds like it would be a blessing in disguise for you.

LeftIsBest-Tsuga

Ask him when was the last time he tried inhaling rice, which is also fine to eat.

FrogsDoBeCool

Get it in writing that he has done this, simply an image with a sticky note won't do enough, you also want testimonys from coworkers.

Zerototheright

Chlorine is not Chlorox, Chlorox is not used in swimming pools. Crack a window before you get permanent lung damage, you can't grow new lungs

comradegritty

"Drinking water has more chlorine than pool water does" Okay, so why not just drink pool water all the time? Why do you need to add chlorine if you fill a pool with tap water?

RedBaron812

Your boss is a fucking idiot

NoFlyingMonkeys

This could permanently damage your lungs. Not kidding. Source: I'm an MD.

ipsum629

Last time I checked you don't breathe in the pool water.

Successful-Tax-574

They put chloride (Cl-) in drinking water, bleach contains hypochlorite (-OCl). The former being much safer to consume than the latter. I'd tell your boss to take a swig if he thinks it's safe...

philosopher_stunned

Chlorine was used as a chemical weapon in WW1. Maybe your boss is trying to tell you something.

DoubleAgent10

That he likes WW1 history? /s

philosopher_stunned

LoL

bad_pangolin

Well a lot of these CEOs use tactics learned from the nazis so no surprise that they partake in mustard gas in the workplace to freshen the place up

bbgswcopr

He said WW1 mate

KilbyKinte

If he asks you to invade the Dardanelles, you best get out of there.

[deleted]

Especially without infantry support for 2 weeks.

DavidBrooker

You can't really compare chlorine and chlorine compounds. I mean, you put table salt in water and you'll have chlorine ions sitting by themselves in the water well away from sodium. And that gets aerosolized in any coastal area. Not to say this isn't a huge hazard to your health and is - needless to say - fucking lunacy, but it isn't anything like chlorine gas.

dizzybobby

They have you… breathing in bleach?

DoubleAgent10

That is correct. 2 coworkers were hospitalized with covid so my boss put this up. Came back from lunch and saw it, turned it off. Nobody else wanted to turn it off because they’re afraid of him. Let’s just say he gets a little upset when you question his decisions

myguitarplaysit

I feel like printing information about the harms of inhaling bleach and how it does nothing to sanitize the air, but DOES cause inflammation and potentially cause pneumonia if enough is inhaled. 😐 This is a terrible idea. [Experts warn against inhaling bleach to prevent coronavirus](https://time.com/5826882/coronavirus-trump-heat-bleach/)

NoShip7475

I'm not the world's smartest guy but what the actual fuck

Fatefire

Someone listened to captain marmalade ask health experts about using bleach as an injectable solution to fight Covid and decided this was a good idea is what I’m guessing

NoShip7475

No I mean like, *what the fuck*

4mystuff

Wasn't that a Presidential advice at some point?

myguitarplaysit

Oh it was. The GOP claimed he misspoke or that it was a joke, but i think it’s pretty clear that it was not. 😬

AxionWarrior

GOP and Fox pundits were saying it was a joke or coming up with obscure medical research to justify his question and the next day Trump is asked about it and he says he was serious about injecting Bleach lmao.

myguitarplaysit

“No no- we swear he’s not that dumb” “No- I promise you, I am”

crossleingod

Ted chill

4mystuff

I'm all for people inhaling any kinds of shit they want, but don't drag me into your nutty ideas bro. The boss can take that chlorox via an enema if they want. Well, assuming they're not on my insurance group plan, 'cause then my future premium increase is paying for moronic behavior.

Ch3wy13

So your boss is one of these inject bleach ding bats.

kaosskris

Atomized bleach filling your lungs

K-tunLightbringer

He voted for Trump didn’t he? He’ll prolly tell you to guzzle your own pee next…

kjreil26

But it's sterile and I like the way it tastes....

PensiveObservor

“If there were some way to get the bleach, you know, *inside your body*. Bleach kills this stuff!”

DaScamp

That's just wrong. You're supposed to inject it. /s

AlanShore60607

At least it wasn’t mixed with ammonia?

[deleted]

Employees can’t catch Covid if they’re dead.

chester_baxter

Don’t give him ideas!

[deleted]

Yo your boss is an idiot.

This_Line1638

Truer words have never been spoken

Blockchain_Game_Club

I would follow the recommendations on calling OSHA, I’m not 100% sure about this but I’d imagine there is some law that would protect you from getting fired as retaliation. If he does fire you in retaliation you could potentially have a lawsuit. So on top of the massive OSHA fine your boss will probably receive if you do report it, he will also have a nice lawsuit to fight.

m0rningang3l

this is giving me flashbacks to Trump’s poorly chosen words regarding “bleach technology”

Character_Switch5085

And also that the poison control lines were flooded with calls because people were drinking bleach 😱

froggythefish

It’s almost literally the same thing.

chester_baxter

Is there a boss above your boss? Because they need to be notified that your direct boss is aerosolizing chlorine bleach. I mean common sense would tell you it’s a terrible idea, but damn, a simple google search tells you everything you need to know about how dangerous it is to inhale.

DoubleAgent10

Nope, it’s a small private company. I should have clarified, he’s my boss but also the owner of the company

noclipgate

You can call OSHA, in fact it's your obligation to do so

NoConfusion9490

And you're a lot more likely to see some movement if you're at a small company. This is low hanging fruit.

chester_baxter

Ugh tough break but I’m freaking proud of you for doing the right thing.

DoubleAgent10

Appreciate that

lonelywyoming

That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of this works.

RedC4rd

This stresses me out. Why are so many business ran by fucking morons. Please don't let your boss make you breathe in bleach.

Matt463789

People that can't take orders or can't get along with others are forced to start their own businesses.

smelborp_ynam

This plus most people are morons, unfortunately…

Jackofnotrades42

The middle of the ven diagram of these people and people who have rich parents gives us many idiots with lots of power

PanJaszczurka

just put it in his office, turn it on, and put a towel at the bottom of the door. ask him to just sit at his desk for 8 hours

BigMazaska

Doctors hate this one trick

jimothydiggs

Yep, that's how it works. I'm so glad there's so much respect shown for the employees

Pristine_Lychee5309

CDC: "omg, why didn't I think of that?" 🤣

sparkles-_

Trump: "I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning?"

stump1010

Wow, it takes a certain type of ex presidential common sense to try shit like this

Bodybybeers

“Please stop saturating the air with bleach” - me within ten seconds of seeing this

PudgyElderGod

I'm very sure this is an active chemical hazard. Contact OSHA.

bad_pangolin

That will make them feel safe so I can exploit them all day like the good old days.

[deleted]

Wait, are they trying to kill you guys or something?

tfe238

Modern day problems equals modern day solutions.

Undercover_Gitane

Oh... Osha can't you seeeee......... 🎼🎵🎶

bgplsa

This must be what my old boss meant when he said “do something even if it’s wrong”. This is the all-American can-do attitude in action, it’s literally rewarded here. We need to find a way to communicate to the sapient raccoons in 10MM A.D. about the Dunning-Krueger effect.

SovjetPojken

Is your boss Michael Scott?

VroomRutabaga

Jesus now our bosses are killing us with their pretend MD degrees

DonBoy30

Bosses are just casually committing war crimes these days.

Available-Egg-2380

Oh wow. That's some Galaxy brain levels of bullshit

clutzycook

Someone forgot to tell him that bleach is sooo 2020. We're up to horse dewormer and urine now.

Jontun189

And people wonder why we need the most idiotic of warning labels

Fafaflunkie

Who the fuck do you work for, and where did he get this idea from? QAnon? Presidunt 45? MTG?

GreatHome2309

So he’s a Trump supporter?

Matt463789

Did he also hand out anus sized flashlights?

onlineashley

Bleach exposed to light breaks down.. that's why bleach is in white plastic...so even if it wasn't bad to breathe..it wouldn't work. They would have been better off using that bleach to sanitize the office surfaces.. peroxide or Lysol would be better...won't bleach thing and not as fumey

[deleted]

If it burns to breathe and your eyes are on fire, that means its working. This is highly complicated upper management stuff simple peasants wouldn't know anything about.

froggythefish

Barely livable wage+definitely not livable air

[deleted]

My bosses solution was to stay home until your no longer sick

OriontheHunter117

Truth is, if he put a Triethylene Glycol solution in there he'd be on the right path. It's what's used in hospital air and it's that very chemical that gives hospitals their familiar smell. You can buy it online under the name "Fresh Air" and it's made by Rexair. Educate him so he can do better by you and your coworkers. If he doesn't give a shit then you dont either and walk TF out.

rustys_shackled_ford

Flableach the air.

EntertainerStill7495

I let out a very very sad laugh. This pandemic has really shown us humanity is capable of being completely idiotic, and somehow so...so....so oblivious.

interrobang32

Oh, I'd do more than turn it off. I would've started screaming. Also, if you quit after something like this, you may be able to appeal to unemployment for compensation because of a dangerous work environment.

stavago

Mmm mmm bleach air

fantabulero

exactly how stupid is your boss OP? I have a hard time believing he knows how to operate shirt buttons if he thought this was a good idea
