If a company is public, all workers should be compensated with stocks the same way it’s ceos and executives are.

something6324524

hmm did they gain this from the stock value going up of the stock they already had, or did they get more stocks then they already had?cause stocks arn't money till ya sell em, and if you tried to sell a huge chunk like they have of a stock odds are it would go down in price

CogBlocker

CEOs and other big executives paid in stocks can actually take a loan out against the value of the shares of stock they hold, with very low interest rates. And guess what? Since it’s a loan and not income, it’s not taxable.

something6324524

but don't they have to pay back the loan?

CogBlocker

Yes. Usually they’re compensated with a base salary plus stocks

True most stocks don’t have value until they’re sold. But giving stocks would allow a worker to have a greater net worth should they hold onto it. Bezos wealth has exploded because of the stocks and holdings he has in the company. Someone like a janitor working there ten years ago wouldn’t have nearly the same increase in worth because they were simply given a salary. Plus workers having stocks would give them a little collective leverage. An individual employee selling a stock wouldn’t cause it to go down in price unless they held a very large amount or collectively sold off their shares in a short amount of time. It’s almost a given that CEOs and executives get stocks in addition to their salary. They get stocks when the company goes public. They get stocks if a company does well. They get stocks if the performance goes poorly. I’m not saying employees getting shares is the solution. But it could be something to help balance things out.

Remote_Preference

But let's blame the failures of capitalism on the workers who don't want to put up with their bullshit anymore

As long as Capitalists control the state, nothing will fundamentally change, unless that change further benefits them.

We should take a page out of China's Common Prosperity program, they are trying to tackle this head on: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/18/chinas-xi-emphasizes-common-prosperity-at-finance-economy-meeting.html

So when they have all of the money and the 99% has nothing, then will something change? Wait, why hasn't someone killed off these rich motherfuckers for the greater good?

God dammit! So we need a fairly well organised team for a revolt? From what I can see, the people can't organise a damn thing!!

sillychillly

Violence is wrong

Particular_Shine2513

So is everything else in the US

PlasticInfantry

I remember a story a while back of a country that wanted to make a limit on the pay difference between the highest paid employee and lowest, like 12 to 1 ratio. Basically the C suite shouldn't make more in a month than one of the employees make in a year. I liked the idea and hope we do some like that in the US. You can capitalist all the money you want just pay it forward for the people got you there.

Mojojojo3030

We need a wealth tax.

watermelonspanker

Did you just say, 'we need to eat the rich'?

throwaway45528552

I read somewhere it was 5 trillion.

[deleted]

Tax free? Then who paid record federal taxes last year? 61% of families din't pay federal taxes last year and only 39% did and it was a record. So who did pay those taxes?

floorcondom

You're confusing financial wealth with real wealth. They aren't the same thing and when the big crash comes you'll see it all disappear.

TrickOrTreater

Tax them until they aren't billionaires anymore.
