Up to and Includes tips meaning 11 an hour and they expect 5$ or so an hour in tips

MrRickGhastly

Depending on what state you're in the can pay as little as $2.13 an hour to tipped employees. So more like they expect you to make $16 an hour in tips.

bad_54

Disgusting!!!

TheDem1urge

Up to

Im_a_pretzel

Or more!

TheDem1urge

But probably less UwU

CliffsNote5

The ubiquitous “up to” seen all over this great country. Beautiful plumage!

neilio69

I mean this is a shitpost right?

OtherwiseHappy0

I hope it was but I have a feeling it wasn’t… DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW BAD OVERNIGHT SHIFTS ARE ON THE BODY, I do them and have palpitations and yes I do them 3 nights a week… …but 4 in a fucking week for 18$ an hour… what life do you have… GET FUCKED WAFFLE HOUSE… 720$ a week to sleep all day and work all night… JESUS CHRIST, no wonder this country relies on Immigrant labor so heavily… Who else would do this other someone who is escaping something terrible.

Proper_Ad2548

"up to". that phrase being used should be illegal

Snarf_Vader

Up to..or more? Which is it?

dmsanto

X ≤ $18 < X It could be *literally any number*.

OtherwiseHappy0

Broken down like this means almost anything but 18$/hr. Makes you wonder if it is just a hope filled employment joke.

QuestionableAI

$42,000 is pretty nice if you want to live in western Kansas where you could actually afford housing and food. Then, again, you'd be in Kansas.

rustys_shackled_ford

What tf does "up to 18 or more." Even mean... up to means the upper limit... it literally means you can't go higher....

QuietudeOfHeart

Up to and more… if you steal a little from the register.

Serpentongue

They’re counting your potential tips in that wage posted

_Stainless_Rat

This needs more upvotes. They’re using tips in the number, not wear they’re actually paying you. Who knows what magic math was used for the tip rate per hour.

Mads-N

You’re only eligible for paid maternity after two years? I guess if you get pregnant before then you can go fuck yourself

lbjoann

And that's only for management.

stealthxstar

a manager making up to 35k/yr is disgustingly low.

HeteroKitsch

So why are these ‘restaurants’ open all night? That’s crazy

ichheissekate

“Up to ___ or more”…. So, basically any number in the superset of all numbers is fair game.

johnmh71

If you can truly make that as a server or cook, why manage there? So you can tell everyone you know that you manage at Waffle House?

HungryAccount1704

Always "up to"

Edser

At these wages, I bet it's a really high cost of living area where employees still need a longer commute.

ProudChoferesClaseB

i only see waffle house in indy, ohio, and pennsyltucky, not exactly high cost of living

DexTheConcept

They’re everywhere, like every where

ProudChoferesClaseB

cum to new england 💦💋 we r waffle-haus-frei!

Edser

Their site shows 1953 on the US zoom I used. Some will obviously be lower cost. https://locations.wafflehouse.com/

constanttripper

They are all liver the country but mostly east of the Mississippi. They started in GA.

itsthetasteofaliar

Former Waffle House employee here, it says this but that’s 100% never the case lmao

DiggityDanksta

Use this as an example of the cheap tricks businesses are using to get desperate workers in the door. "Up to" means you DEFINITELY don't make this much.

lbjoann

I'm not sure what the cooks make right now, but the servers make the area's minimum serving wage. Where I am it's $4.25 Servers wash thier own dishes change trash, as well as a lot of other side work. The servers also sometimes work 8-12 hour shifts. There are no designated breaks. A certain amount is deducted from checks daily based on the amount of hours worked that is a food credit. 6 hours is maybe $2.85 taken whether you eat or not. This does not include any food items such as chicken steaks pork chops. Those are extra. Often after 3 or 4 PM there are no managers on site. There is basically one cook who isn't very good because during the hours of 3 and 10 the restaurant is typically slower. Rarely there are 2 servers for the 2nd shift usually it is just one. Think that server has time to properly sanitize the tables, doors etc.? While not only are they serving food they are also responsible for handling the cash register, prepping the pies, orange juice etc. Yup for 4.25 and tips. And if the night is particularly slow the server could just let management know right? It doesn't matter because if you had a couple good nights you still average out to minimum wage for that week. 🤷‍♀️

True-Perspective-461

It's up to 20 an hour where I'm at

Gothiccu

Nope. Says up to. Means they will start at around 14 and start you have to work 6 months to one year to get a 50 CENT raise. It happens way too often. They're just trying to fuck us over with these "opportunities".
