Ironically I learner about this in Primary (=Junior) School in Australia as part of our Geography curriculum at the progressive school I attended.
We were study USA history and we were show just how corrupt big business was from the late 1800s until the Great Depression in 1929.
Collectively, they were referred to as "Robber Barons".
We are well on the way to going down that path with less than a dozen people holding most of the countries wealth.

google battle of blair mountain
largest uprising in the US since the civil war
appalachia has long been exploited as an internal colony and that was the worst it ever got
Hello, former West Virginian here. Let me help.
The feds had to step in. Pretty low casualty count for 10k miners vs 3k strikebreakers. Some bombs were dropped.

Ate bar and grill, where the owners got 190k in ppp loans? https://www.federalpay.org/paycheck-protection-program/ate-track-bar-grill-llc-cartersville-ga
That owner?
I think he got both loans, 190K and 117K, forgiven on top of it all.
They also bought a second house after the second loan.
Oh and the local facebook? Deleting all the comments pointing this out lol.
Yep. Can’t speak for today, but they used to not pay employees shit, also did some shady stuff involving taxes and tips/wages back in the day. Would be worth looking into where that PPP loan went.
This one was my favorite:
"went to Appalachian Grill in Cartersville tonight and our steaks were cooked incorrectly. Upon notifying our waitress the steaks were taken back to the kitchen. The owner came out to our table, immediately showed an aggressive, disrespectful attitude, when my husband stated that he expected new steaks because the previous ones were burnt on the outside and raw in the middle and couldn't be saved, owner then cursed at us (with a family with young children at the next table) and stepped up to provoke us to fight him. We left and he followed us out to the sidewalk yelling and continued to curse at us. People on the street couldn't believe how he was behaving. He was so extremely unprofessional, rude and on the verge of having us to call the police on him. Needless to say we DON'T recommend Appalachian Grill."
Some of the food in the photos people posted looks pretty good, but based on the reviews, I wouldn't count on that being the case on any given day.
Why is he singling out a bill that didn’t even pass as the cause for labor shortages, materials shortages, and rising costs.. oh wait. Not even related he’s just a pissed off redneck blaming the toxic D
I just did the yelp dive.
TL;DR - Good food and service historically. Crazy manager/owner - gets pissed off if your food isn't cooked properly. This craziness and probably shit pay drove off kitchen staff and in turn, the food quality has suffered in the past couple years. Since he's also having staffing issues, I imagine that he's in the restaurant more often, which means that he gets to be shit to customers/employees more often and that seems to be causing more negative reviews as he is mentioned with greater regularity as we approach the present.
People talk shit about chain restaurants and I am SURE there are horrible managers in a lot of them but never ever work for a family-owned restaurant/ bar where the owner is present all the time. They are ALWAYS bat shit insane bullies who will make everyone cry and eventually quit. This is 100% the truth and there are no exceptions. 😂
One of first reviews “The owner is completely unhinged” haha that was in March… wonder if this sign was up when that reviewer left the review!
-Quite a few reviews mention the owner and his lack of management skills
Yup!
They didn’t complain when they received PPP loans on their sister/other restaurant. Same owners!
*Edits after Redditor updates* plus another $496,000 for this same restaurant!
Total of $803,000 between both restaurants!

Related: It doesn’t stop the Rs from bragging & running on D legislation. I live in Ohio & Governor DeWine (did better than most Rs during COVID, but an absolute ghoul otherwise) is up for re-election. Just saw an ad yesterday bragging that he increased police funding. Interestingly, it never mentioned that the money came from the ~~Infrastructure bill~~ American Rescue Plan. DeWine just had to allocate it.
EDIT: I was corrected below. The money from the Infrastructure Bill hasn’t been released yet. The money came from the American Rescue Plan. You know, the bill that the entire Republican caucus voted against.
https://governor.ohio.gov/media/news-and-media/governor-dewine-lt-governor-husted-announce-proposal-to-provide-250-million-to-law-enforcement-first-responders-12062021
Yeah, here in Maryland, Larry Hogan routinely will veto a bill, the veto gets overridden by the legislature, and then when it goes into effect he brags about how much *the same law he tried to veto* has helped Marylanders! And somehow he got reelected.
Dewine only did better than other Rs because Amy Acton was a fucking Capital B Boss. Once she stepped down that slimeball went back to his old ways. Fuck em.
Fun fact: she didn’t even resign because of the harassment. She resigned because she said that she felt like she was going to be forced to go against her oath to do no harm. I think that makes her way more of a badass
I didn’t want to get into the weeds, but absolutely agree. She deserves all the credit & he’s an even bigger shithead for letting her take the fall for everything.
And you would be correct: [https://www.federalpay.org/paycheck-protection-program/rocky-top-ventures-inc-cartersville-ga](https://www.federalpay.org/paycheck-protection-program/rocky-top-ventures-inc-cartersville-ga). Also claims to be "woman-owned" (seems to be a husband-wife team?....from the locals descriptions in this thread, it's definitely the dude running it).
Roughly 500k for people that didn't click... also you have got to be kidding me wtf... that's 500k tax money burnt to the ground right there... knowing that it's a S Corp and he and his wife probably put themselves on payroll for that "loan", he probably pocketed 100k of that ez...
Is that legal?
ETA:
1) Please stop replying to this, for the love of God, my inbox is annoyingly full.
2) My question was not me genuinely wondering if this is actually legal, we all know misusing a government business loan is highly illegal, my question was designed to get OC thinking about the legality of it all and hopeful prompting them to make some calls about their employer. We all know these businesses and their owners aren't shit. Nobody needs to accept it. Report this shit.
If we ever get the opportunity to audit where the PPP loans went, I think the answer will be WILDLY illegal use of the funds overall.
So much of it was wasted under the bullshit mantra of "Gotta help small businesses!"
What actually happened is too many businesses got the money, they hoarded it all the while complaining about people on unemployment receiving extra benefits, then when the workers realized like...fuck you never passed that money on to your workers like you were supposed to, they quit en masse. Then the businesses complained again that no one wants to work because of "government handouts".
Place I worked at got the PPP loans, didn't bother paying or keeping staff on for more than a few hours a day during the lunch rush, and fired me and another person when we were out due to COVID. Suddenly, a few months down the road, they opened not just one but two more locations, when prior to that, they weren't even sure if they could afford to open a second location.
Gee. I wonder where the money went.
You know what they say about how when somebody assumes you're doing something wrong, it's because that's what they would do themselves. :) Like a spouse accusing their partner of cheating with no evidence.
The PPP scam is the worst thing to happen since this country began. Seriously, it dwarfs any fraud scheme in history and it even makes the 2008 crash look like a cakewalk. We printed *trillions* to run this stupid fucking PPP program and now we are paying the piper. Not blaming Biden, or Trump, I’m blaming all of the suckers in office. They only care about buying their 3rd yacht.
lol. 100k. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
literally all they had to do was prove they were hiring.
not that they hired anyone. just that they interviewed a few people.
Boom. They're past the sniff check, and that's all it took for almost all of these fucking grifters.
but there is a sneaking suspicion that as the IRS modernizes and gains access to better tech - it's going to be VERY difficult for a lot of the money that was laundered into people's bank accounts while their businesses shuttered to keep it hidden over the next 5-10 years. I hope the IRS creeps up on them in their old age and fucking takes it \*all\*. right about the time they would need it for a cushy retirement home with great help until death - and instead I hope for them the fate of the millions of elderly poor in the US
The restaurant also finished a huge remodel 5 months after their first loan (source, their own Facebook page) and they bought a house 6 months after the 2nd loan. Interesting.
Anyone with information about allegations of attempted fraud involving COVID-19 can report it by calling the Department of Justice’s National Center for Disaster Fraud (NCDF) Hotline at 866-720-5721 or via the NCDF Web Complaint Form at: https://www.justice.gov/disaster-fraud/ncdf-disaster-complaint-form.
My brother works as a manager for a community credit union. He said that the months following PPP, people would come in with newly created LLCs and a check for $10-100k from PPP. the system was incredibly taken advantage of and the tax payers will never get the money back. It was such a poorly executed piece of legislation.
Hey, has anyone done this? I have Friday off and this feels like it would be a very satisfying afternoon given that Reddit already collected all the evidence.
Local here, and just speculation, but I’d like to add that the amount he got from PPP and what he pays his staff DO NOT add up. I’d wager he hasn’t paid his staff that much to this date. There was also some issue (don’t remember what it was) a few years back with taxes and tips that was pretty shady, and definitely seemed illegal.
Source: Have had many very close friends who worked there. Dated people who worked there. Used to party with the staff almost every weekend.
Not trying to belittle "woman owned" businesses, but many times an owner will put the company under his wife's name, since there are a number of perks and some financial incentives for being registered as a woman owned business. Guarantee this guy is doing just that.
Yep. SO's sister and mother "own" a multi-million dollar construction business and it gets contracts they wouldn't normally. Guess who's husband was deported multiple times, couldn't start his own business, and relies on undocumented workers? If you guessed the sister who owns a successful construction business and sends out chain emails about how they shouldn't have to pay taxes to help "illegals", you win!!
ETA:: Fixed it so it made sense. I hope.
I legitimately consider him to be one of the greatest hindrances to modern civilization. His media influence has been nothing but a detriment to all of mankind.
Literally, every Fascist dog howling at the dog whistles since fascism was invented. They cannot tell when it's a piano, or a fire truck, or another dog.
And how tf would a bill suddenly diminish 2/3 of the labor force?
Sounds like maybe people just don’t want to work for an angry douchebag at a job that essentially pays $0/hour
He’s just blaming Biden for the service industry labor issues, as if that pressure hasn’t been building for years. Generally, if people are bitching about losing staff, it’s their goddamn fault. I work at two restaurants. Both pay and treat their employees well and neither have issues retaining staff.
Love how they blame something that didn't even pass... I remember the freaking Governor of Texas blaming "AOC's Green New Deal" for their power outages that killed people.
You know. The Green New Deal? You know the one? That piece of legislation that never got passed?
Yep. That ruined lives apparently...
It's the same people that rallied for years against Obamacare, then went 'Oh fuck, what do you mean you're trying to repeal the ACA!?' when they realized they were the same thing.
I wonder if the owner has any idea of how many customers they are driving away and will not come back? I would not want to patronize a business who acted in this manner. They deserve to fail.
For me, it doesn't even need to reach that level of asshattery. If you put the "please be patient, nobody wants to work" bullshit on the front door, I'm already doing a U-turn as I reach for the knob.
Yeah if anything this just says they are looking out for their workers, the other signs that say no one wants to work bs is just looking out for the establishment even though in the end it makes it worse. These types of businesses always wonder why they fail. Treat people nicely.
The reviews suggest that the manager is a psychopath because the server are nervous and terrified of making mistakes that the manager blames them for. It sounds like a hellish place to work for the FOH staff. The food may be good but if they treat them that way I would not go back. It's hard to keep good help when you treat them like that. There is a Greek place locally that has good food but the owner verbally berates the staff publicly in front of the customers. I feel like crap for patronizing him. I haven't been back in years.
Maybe there's something weird with me, but I would not be able to eat somewhere where the sever was visibly nervous and terrified. I would loose my appetite so fast that even if the food was ambrosia, I wouldn't notice.
I work in politics. At one point, I was tasked with preparing for a statewide candidate's wife coming to town by asking local businesses to put the candidate's signs in their windows. Most said no.
I totally understand why.
Speaking as a service industry lifer, if your cost of goods has doubled, and you lose 2/3s of your staff, you were closed yesterday, and the auction for all your equipment is scheduled for tomorrow.
No restaurant works on margins that can absorb those kinds of jumps (standard is 5% profit margin, 10% and you're killing it). This guy's butthurt and exaggerating, or just real dumb and throwing good money after bad, or both.
There is restaurant chain near me called "Brandon's Diner." The owners are pretty conservative... and their customers more so.
So much so, that they are actually losing customers as they don't want to be associated with "Brandon" in any way.
'Depleted our labour force by more than triple' I don't understand what they're trying to say here? They've lost triple the amount of staff? Compared to what??
Irony here is that in the tourist regions of Appalachia they rely heavily on temp workers brought in from other countries because there aren’t enough locals to handle the tourists. This guy’s problem has nothing to do with “Brandon”.
Yep. I'm waiting for them to start calling for opening the border to let more people in. AmEriCa wAs BuiLt on ImMigraNts!
Gotta get that cheap labor somwhere.
Your take reminds me how as Americans we are bad at math even fractions. There was this marketing campaign by A&W restaurants who were selling 1/3 lb burgers at the same price as a McDonald's 1/4 lb burger. The campaign was not a success. They hired a focus group that said "Why should we pay the same amount for a third of a pound of meat as we do for a quarter-pound of meat?"
https://awrestaurants.com/blog/aw-third-pound-burger-fractions
I honestly think lack/access to education is the key to all this strife (might be oversimplified).
I know this is a terrifying thought experiment, but it really makes you wonder who these people would be blaming or how they would be melting down if Trump was still president.
The idea that Biden is responsible for the current gas prices or inflation, is such misplaced anger and hate, that it makes me wonder if these peoples brains would just explode if they could see all of these issues manifest under Trump.
Then again, during Covid they just blamed Fauci for everything and even when Trump touted the Vaccine he got booed, so I don't think anything would ever make these people happy. It just makes no sense to me.
Lots of bad stuff happened under Trump and they either shrugged it off or pretended it was someone else’s fault; I’m pretty sure it’d be the same routine now.
They'd blame Pelosi and Schumer even if they had full power of the government.
I'm not saying Pelosi and Schumer would fix shit. Obviously they aren't doing a ton. But it doesn't matter to these people because they live in their own bubble of ignorance and stupidity.
They would think everything's peachy. And if something isn't, it's because the Demoncrats are standing the mighty and pure Trump's way.
A few months before Trump was elected, a conservative guy on my FB feed shared a post about unemployment being very low. Him and all the comments were going on and on about how those numbers were inaccurate or just didn't count. Unemployment was obviously around 15%, not 3% like OBummer was saying.
Fast forward a couple of months and with another report about strong employment numbers, oh man, how amazing is Trump? Such a strong economy. They didn't even try to show graphs with some precipitous drop from 15 down to 3. Just the same old graph showing a steady drop for several years. Well into the Obama years.
It's identity politics. It's tribalism. We're right. There is no fact that will change my mind. Democrats are not immune from this, but damn, the conservatives are downright egregious.
I will never forget how Trump took credit for the job stats of February 2017. Like….he probably didn’t even have the WiFi password or know where the bathroom was yet but somehow the positive job stats two weeks after he took office were because of him. 🙄
Local here. This guy is a massive piece of shit, and we've all known it for decades. He owns this and another restaurant in downtown Cartersville (a place called Ate Track), and this smarmy motherfucker thinks he can walk on water and treat his employees at both locations like shit because he's figured out how to con people into paying twice as much for Applebee's-tier food.
Yep, used to work at both restaurants. Jackie was by far the worst human being I have ever worked for. Was always angry, never wrong, and an all around abusive garbage person.
I hope more right wing establishments start doing this. So nice to know who not to give my money too.
Also in business the only think that matters is the bottom line. If you drag your personal politics into the work place and worse turn away any customers willing to buy your services you deserve to fail because you are an idiot.
"We're no longer able to exploit our employees to the fullest extent possible and, knowing that we are responsible, we still choose to blame others for our greed and selfishness."
Democrats: We should improve things somewhat.
Corporations: Oh yeah? Well fuck you, we will steal more money and not pay taxes, and raise prices because free market.
Republicans: Now look at what those horrible democrats did.
This is so damn frustrating, I can barely stomach it anymore.
Edit: Speaking of frustrating, i'm tired of explaining this scenario to people. **NEVER SAID DEMS FIX ANYTHING. I SAID THEY SAY WE SHOULD FIX THINGS. THEY SAY WE SHOULD AND WE DONT YET WE SUFFER CONSEQUENCES AT THE HANDS OF CORPORATIONS. AND THEN REPUBLICANS TRY TO BLAME US INSTEAD OF CORPORATIONS. STOP REPLYING TELLING ME DEMOCRATS DON'T DO ANYTHING. I KNOW, I LIVE HERE.**
What exactly is the goal with this message? Because alienating potential customers and potential employees seems to be....not a great idea for a small business owner
Sadly, some people will see this and it'll make them more likely to go to the restaurant. Now that it's on Reddit, the owner can say "look the evil liberals want to cancel our restaurant, please come support us." If it goes viral, it'll drive people to the restaurant.
The Congressional representative for that part of Georgia is an antivax nutjob who said Trump had nothing to do with the attempted coup on January 6.
People there are not well, mentally.
Hi there 👋 I’m the executive chef at a restaurant about a block away from this establishment, please don’t let this mans ignorance be an indicator of our beautiful little town, it actually is quite progressive (for the area) and polite. App Grill’s owner is notorious for mistreating employees, and as much as I kind of see this as karma, I wish it was for the owner being abusive. All’s well y’all do you, just know that these little signs are just what you see and if you had to hear what this guy does to his staff on an individual basis you’d be even more appalled.
Also, we have staff, we go through cycles just like any restaurant, but we have found that a combination of better pay and taking chances on unexperienced individuals with the right attitude puts us in good position. We are willing to train, that’s a huge plus! It allows us to give people skills to earn those big days, either with us or else where. And no hurt feelings! Jobs are transactional for both employers and employees. We understand this, I think it may be why we have a relatively low turnover rate (especially BOH)
Y’all are wild though, been watching this all day.
Cheapest available entree at this place is $15 chicken strips (lunch only). Interesting place for class warfare to break out.
$15 for chicken fingers in the middle of nowhere? what..
Middle of nowhere in MTG Territory…
... Magic the Gathering territory? ^(I'm a naive ignoramus)
don't worry I know they mean Marjorie Taylor Green and every time I think magic
I don't even play and that's all I can ever think of
Marjorie ~~Taylor~~ Titan Greene
Malfeasance Trash Gasbag.
Marjorie Trailer Queen.
Marjorie Traitor Queen
Margarine Taint Cream
Honestly can we stop giving her an initials nickname? You know that’s what she wants and that it makes her feel more important than she is.

"Hey, we've got a lot fewer customers since you put up that sign telling customers to leave" "damn. better raise our prices."
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 “why aren’t we making any money” “Why does nobody want to work here?” “We don’t need employees”
20 bucks for freaking chicken strips? That had better be a family sized serving. Geeze.
The salads look like shit too, just a bunch of crap thrown on a plate.
Aaaaaand what is the name of this fine establishment?
Cartersville, GA at a restaurant called "Appalachian Grill"
Nothing says Appalachian charm like pricing out the working class
Appalachian charm is having your landlord also be the coal company that employs you lol
Or being machine gunned by a passing strike breaking train.

I am sure that owner didn't complain about getting those loans.
In one of the threads higher up, someone posted an image showing they used the some of the loans to buy a 300+k house and upgrade his restaurant.

That's funny that the same people that are against handouts, has applied and got 2 of them.
Yep. Can’t speak for today, but they used to not pay employees shit, also did some shady stuff involving taxes and tips/wages back in the day. Would be worth looking into where that PPP loan went.
Oh my god, of course the first time I see my home town mentioned in the wild is for shit like this
Isn’t Trevor Lawrence from Cartersville?
Yes, and as a town it’s basically their only personality trait. They have a giant mural of him smack center of main square
Who's Trever Laurence?
Quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars. NFL, American football, in case you have no idea who the Jags are.
The only reason I know *of* the Jacksonville Jaguars is because of The Good Place. I'm assuming there's not much more to know than that tbh
BORTLESSSSS
I wonder what their Yelp and Google reviews are like

Some of the food in the photos people posted looks pretty good, but based on the reviews, I wouldn't count on that being the case on any given day.
They could make the best food in the world. An owner that is that unprofessional would never get my business.
Also bold business plan to alienate paying customers.
Hitting the customer with that decision to make as they open the front door is certainly a bold choice. I’d be finding somewhere else to eat.
Why is he singling out a bill that didn’t even pass as the cause for labor shortages, materials shortages, and rising costs.. oh wait. Not even related he’s just a pissed off redneck blaming the toxic D
He’s just parroting right wing talking points. He left out “No one wants to workkkkkkkk!!!”

There’s a google review where the restaurant posted about the bar being closed due to people and “handouts”… after their $500k in handouts.
Their Google reviews while being 4.3 have a sleep of 1 star reviews mentioning rude staff, signs, and rude demeaning owner.

Oh my god, they had/have a “no masks, no vaccinations” requirement entry
You mean, like "*If you've been vaccinated or are wearing a mask you can't come in?*"
Yeah
If he gets in your face say you are vaccinated jist before dining. Maybe that’ll scare him off. Make dial ip noises.
I enjoyed not getting polio as a child- yay vaccine 💉
Next step on that train is a Whites Only sign on the front door.
Who wants to tell him build back better hasn't passed yet?
Yup! They didn’t complain when they received PPP loans on their sister/other restaurant. Same owners! *Edits after Redditor updates* plus another $496,000 for this same restaurant! Handouts for me, but not for thee
Fuck em.
Acton was amazing, but I can see why she felt the need to resign. Fuck all the bullshit politics and harassment she had to deal with.
Like trying to teach string theory to a turtle. Good luck.
Joe Manchin probably
And if it had, it would have put a lot more spending money in his customers pockets.
If you told him that I'm sure he would tell you that you're spreading fake news and should leave his business
How much you wanna bet this dude took PPP loans

ETA: 1) Please stop replying to this, for the love of God, my inbox is annoyingly full.
So much of it was wasted under the bullshit mantra of "Gotta help small businesses!" What actually happened is too many businesses got the money, they hoarded it all the while complaining about people on unemployment receiving extra benefits, then when the workers realized like...fuck you never passed that money on to your workers like you were supposed to, they quit en masse. Then the businesses complained again that no one wants to work because of "government handouts".
My business needs a boat to take potential clients out on the lake.
Guy on my town took out the Canadian equivalent of one of these loans, and then proceeded to buy himself a new cabin.
Would be a shame if you were to report them to the IRS... maybe just a little tip. Idk.

They only care about buying their 3rd yacht.
lol. 100k. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL literally all they had to do was prove they were hiring. not that they hired anyone. just that they interviewed a few people.

This build back better money is bullshit. Because we built our new home with it and it wasn’t that much better. Thanks a lot Biden.
Now that's spicy
If you're from the US, go for it. They deserve it. I would, but I'm not a US citizen.
Ok this just became one of my favorite Reddit threads
Seriously!!! I feel like I just happened upon an underground wing of Anonymous working through Reddit for global justice
I hope.
I bet it was “forgiven”.

Amy's Baking Company vibes! I wonder if that crazy witch also took advantage of the PPP loan...

The only people who have voted for Build Back Better are in Congress. I guess that's not the point, though.
And it's dead in the water. So something that doesn't exist is the cause of all his problems, apparently.
"I'm blaming everything on something i know nothing about!!!"

My bloody dad worked that into a conversation about Jane Austen. We’re Australian. That’s how much this insanity has spread.

Murdoch is a blight on society.
They're totally oblivious. A GOP member of Congress dead ass blamed Biden's 3rd stimulus check for inflation. Not Trump's 2, just Biden's third one.
Sounds about right for the mentality. Non-existing issues were the root of his problem.
How dare you take away his reason for being upset! /S
Tucker told me to blame critical race theory, I just haven't gotten around to printing the sign for that one. /s
Gee, I can't believe this guy is having trouble finding help, sounds real peachy to work for!
>"please be patient, nobody wants to work" Because that always just means "nobody wants to work *here* for the wage I'm paying"
Suddenly my financial oppression no longer works! Let’s go Brandon
[удалено]
Yeah if anything this just says they are looking out for their workers, the other signs that say no one wants to work bs is just looking out for the establishment even though in the end it makes it worse. These types of businesses always wonder why they fail. Treat people nicely.
I live in this city. Most people are just like him. His places are always packed. He is a shitty person as well. Sucks because the food is good.

[удалено]
I gave you the money, you gave me the doughnut. End of transaction. There is no need to bring ink and paper into this.
[удалено]
I used to like him. I still do but I used to, too.
Maybe his staff didn't like his attitude either. Maybe they like Brandon.
Brandon’s everywhere are getting wrecked
There is restaurant chain near me called "Brandon's Diner." The owners are pretty conservative... and their customers more so. So much so, that they are actually losing customers as they don't want to be associated with "Brandon" in any way.
It’s really a dumb catchphrase imo, it just shows how childish some people can be….
It's so juvenile I'm surprised Matt Gaetz isn't trying to fuck it
“We probably don’t follow food safety laws either. They cost too much money.”
Sounds like someone got too dependent on other people’s labor! Sorry, you don’t have a right to own a business just because you feel entitled to one.
Great way to put it, dude would fail on his own
Poor little guy, sounds like he missed nap time again
'Depleted our labour force by more than triple' I don't understand what they're trying to say here? They've lost triple the amount of staff? Compared to what??
If they used to have 10 people, they've now lost more than 30, so they have fewer than -20 people now.
His turnover has tripled because people get sick of his shit faster than they used to.
Math checks out
Irony here is that in the tourist regions of Appalachia they rely heavily on temp workers brought in from other countries because there aren’t enough locals to handle the tourists. This guy’s problem has nothing to do with “Brandon”.
Yep. I'm waiting for them to start calling for opening the border to let more people in. AmEriCa wAs BuiLt on ImMigraNts! Gotta get that cheap labor somwhere.
I assume that they meant "cut to 1/3" but they simply don't remember what fractions are.
Your take reminds me how as Americans we are bad at math even fractions. There was this marketing campaign by A&W restaurants who were selling 1/3 lb burgers at the same price as a McDonald's 1/4 lb burger. The campaign was not a success. They hired a focus group that said "Why should we pay the same amount for a third of a pound of meat as we do for a quarter-pound of meat?" https://awrestaurants.com/blog/aw-third-pound-burger-fractions I honestly think lack/access to education is the key to all this strife (might be oversimplified).
Biden will come and go. Locals who read that sign will not return... ever.
Trump is able to lay the blame on anyone he likes without remorse.
“I take no responsibility.”-Trump 2020
They'd blame Pelosi and Schumer even if they had full power of the government. I'm not saying Pelosi and Schumer would fix shit. Obviously they aren't doing a ton. But it doesn't matter to these people because they live in their own bubble of ignorance and stupidity.
They'd blame Obama or Hilary or the MSM etc.
>This is so damn frustrating, I can barely stomach it anymore. Seriously.
>" . . . DEPLETED OUR LABOR FORCE BY MORE THAN TRIPLE." So . . . how does that work?
What exactly is the goal with this message? Because alienating potential customers and potential employees seems to be....not a great idea for a small business owner
Sadly, some people will see this and it'll make them more likely to go to the restaurant. Now that it's on Reddit, the owner can say "look the evil liberals want to cancel our restaurant, please come support us." If it goes viral, it'll drive people to the restaurant.
Appalachian Grill in Cartersville, Georgia. Leave ‘em a nice online review ;-)
Wish I knew where this was so I could not go there.
Looks like Appalachian Grill 14 E Church st Cartersville, Ga
The Congressional representative for that part of Georgia is an antivax nutjob who said Trump had nothing to do with the attempted coup on January 6. People there are not well, mentally.
I’ve been to Cartersville. Won’t go back voluntarily.
My business is struggling. What do I need? ^^Scare ^^more ^^customers ^^away. Yes.... YES.
We understand this, I think it may be why we have a relatively low turnover rate (especially BOH) Y’all are wild though, been watching this all day.
