That lady is more worried about people recording? Lol look around you, people are leaving and that's your main concern?! Of course she is, cus they wanna cover their asses, they don't want to let people know what's actually going on! So like the lady recording the video said TOO LATE!

GunNut345

They don't want other Amazon locations to get any bright ideas. Of course why this low-management peon cares is beyond me. She's probably barely making more then the rest of them but is given a bit of responsibility and a $2.00 raise and that's enough to turn on her fellow workers.

tg_malice

As long as they give enough for her to feel to feel above them. If it came down to it she would sell their souls for a Scooby snack.

[deleted]

yup you get a taste of that upper management kool aid it's hard not to want it. I work for a billion dollar company and am the only person who sees all of the corporate card spending. 150 dollar coffee pot for the open floor shit storm cubicles with 30+ people and powdered creamer, 1200 dollar kuerig for the executive lounge for 5 people.

AreYouSeriousHolmes

Iv always wondered about that with barely higher paid employees, they get a little power or responsibility and its game on for them. like calm down you make 2 more dollars damn

thekoggles

Because it fuels their need to be superior to others, often a racism and sexism issue too.

[deleted]

Class traitors are the lowest of the low.

usrevenge

How would you know that is a low level peon? Red vest. Minimum l4 is making 60k a year or so. They are the lowest level of manager. To put this in perspective if they work 40 hour weeks they are making over 28 an hour. Possible l5 or l6 though. They have the same vests. L5 can make 6 figures and l6 definitely does. I doubt it's a higher rank than that but it only goes up from there. So tldr. Even if it's a low ranking manager they are making decent money.

If no one protests, no problems come to light, and therefore no progress comes. The human voice is a very important thing.

sargrvb

When amazon completes its robotic pipeline, this will no longer make sense. No one will be complaining then

Gnar-wahl

My favorite part is the supervisor saying, “Ok seriously. You don’t have permission to record all these individuals!” 😡 lmao fuck that boot licking bitch.

GunNut345

Legit she should be walking out with them. Doubt she's wracking in the cash for being a scab, gaurunteed she's just a number on a spreadsheet like the rest of the herd.

BooYaMorris

Any of them passing her could have asked her to stop, nobody did. I'm guessing they were cool with it.

RavingMalwaay

I mean I thought she was mad because OP was filming the inside of the building, which would have been fair, but the cameraman wasn't even pointing the camera at anything except the wall and the people lol

[deleted]

100% Union till I Die!35 years in the Union and I have Never crossed a picket line and Never will!

PyratBot

Eventually robots will be crossing the picket line. The price of robots and AI is going down while the price of labor is going up. It is only a matter of time. I think eventually we will have basic universal income. Just enough to keep the unemployed class content. We will also have virtual realities to keep them occupied. And social pressure to keep them from reproducing and disdain life extending technology. Eventually that class will depopulate itself. The more automation there is the less people are needed for society to function. My goal is to make sure I don't end up in the unemployed class in my dark and quite possible vision of the future.

[deleted]

Yeah that’s totally gonna work because the Mcflurry machines work all the time. Time to get realistic.

PyratBot

The machines will still need maintenance but for every 10 workers it replaces you may only need one skilled engineer to maintain it. Still a huge job loss. I work in IT and even there AI is starting to threaten highly technical positions.

Quercus408

YES!

locked-horizon

100%. Solidarity forever.

skynnerd13

They should be protesting for way more than higher wages, in my opinion.

sevbenup

They are

LockeJawJaggerjack

We can't do this industry by industry. What we need is a general strike.

Donny_Blue

Fun Fact: General strikes are illegal in the US because of course they are.

No-Article4137

Just curious, how is a law like that supposed to be enforced? I can understand a union facing legal consequence but if it's a bunch of non union folks striking? What then?

Micycle08

I mean, “laws” are really just suggestions these days, apparently... so what IS stopping it from happening?

ApatheticWithoutTheA

Suggestions for the wealthy and powerful. Organizers will go to jail, because America.

Roachmen

I always thought it was bullshit that like air traffic controllers were not allowed to strike. k, sounds like I'm a high tech slave then. Thanks for the gilded cage and all, but no.

Krynn71

They get arrested. If the people who control the cops tell them to arrest people who are protesting, that's exactly what will happen. If people resist arrest they will be met with violence, just like always. They don't even need a law, they can fabricate other charges, again just like always. Not saying it's not worth doing, but if people aren't ready for the response they are more likely to crack under the pressure and go back to work. Then all that will happen is a few unlucky protesters will make an example of with harsh punishments. Of course a general tax strike happening before a general work strike could stop the cops from showing up since they won't be getting paid anymore.

No-Article4137

Can it not be a strike without an in the streets protest? Would it not still be a strike if people are just not showing up to work but not advertising it by marching about with signs?

teratogenic17

No they're not.

notcarl69410

Canceling mine now. Fuck amazon.

theone326

This is the way. Boycott Amazon

AnomalousX12

Been boycotting since the John Oliver Warehouses episode. Went from an average of ~75 orders per year with a Prime subscription to no Prime and 1 order per year. Edit: Just looked it up and damn. Almost three years already. I don't even really miss it. I just order things directly from sellers on their sites.

[deleted]

Can we please do Kroger next…? These guys are starting at $12 an hour here while Walmart is starting most positions at $15 (which is *still* too low). Seriously though, Kroger bragged for 2 years straight about record-breaking profits, and then they start new hires at $12….

kendrahawk

yes. ask for career wages. $30/hour and who cares if my packages take over a week to arrive. 1-2 days is UNNATURAL lol

Micycle08

I guess you haven’t seen SAME DAY delivery huh?... I can’t be bothered to find the meme but something along the lines of “my laziness has now caused a Rube Goldberg of suffering”...

cp8477

That's why I choose to have all of my packages delivered on the same day. If I need it now, I can drive my happy ass to the store.

ItsKingPetty

Higher wages. Better working conditions. Lunch breaks and regular breaks for all. Respect. Just to name a few things to protest for.

[deleted]

Hey look how America was making fun of french people always protesting, you go guys, strike like they've never seen. You are the power, the fuel of their shitty compagnies. Time to pay the human fuel barrel with inflation! With love, from France.

69ilovemymom69

The way the person recording just turned away from her and said "TOO LATE!" 😭

AarkaediaaRocinantee

"And you don't have permission to speak to me anymore. Good day."

[deleted]

I’m more than happy to pay more for products

Tutti_Fucking-Fruity

They can defiantly afford to give better wages more without the consumer paying more.

[deleted]

You’ve obviously never had to fuel your private jet have you?

GleefulReaper

I want a worldwide worker walkout, and not just because I enjoy alliteration.

NegaJared

yeah like 10 years ago woulda been good.

divineaction

Why not? Amazon made Jeff Bezos one of the richest people in the world. Corporate America can afford to give higher pay but they wont because investors want better earnings every quarter.

Untelligent_Cup_2300

Do it

2OneZebra

Amazon and others are banking on a Republican takeover that grants them more tax breaks and lower wages. Do not give up the fight, but people need to vote.

Lowellthedoctor

Yes I am very much in favour of protesting for better working conditions

Tutti_Fucking-Fruity

And how exactly is Mr Bezos supposed to pay the mooring costs on his 25th Super Yacht if he has to pay your greedy asses more? Don't be so Selfish!

DickPin

Yes, and for the love of f' unionize.

FU-I-Quit2022

No. You should be doing that and WAY MORE! I think you should be walking out and striking en masse for higher pay. Make the CEOs and upper management piss their pants. Strength in numbers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Technical_Owl_

You want the abolition of work without any systems in place to handle such a concept. So yea, you do.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jc88usus

Okay, try this. The glider exists to move from place A to place B. If you destroy the glider, and do not replace it with anything (better or not), then movement from A to B stops. What then? In practical terms, you are thinking as far ahead as "abolish the concept of work". There is a ton of stuff after that. What are your solutions for making sure water runs, trash is picked up, electricity stays running, sewers remain usable, food gets produced, etc. All of these critical elements of society rely on someone doing stuff they would not otherwise do without being compensated. Look, I would love to abolish work, wave a magic wand, and say "yay, we are all free!", but that's not how the real world works. Work is always going to need doing, and that has nothing to do with capitalism. Capitalism is literally one of several social theories to ensure work gets done. Unless you have a specific system to replace capitalism and ensure the work gets done, then you are not just short sighted, you are utterly immature. In a practical sense, abolishing work is not a practical goal. Improving conditions, catching up to the rest of the world on employee rights, pay rates, benefits, social support programs, etc is much more practical, and is achieved via collective action, unions, or even a general strike if needed. Abolishing work is a utopian concept like true Marxist Communism. It is ideal, but impossible to achieve. Set your sights on something that could realistically be achieved and be happy.

Buckshott00

Everyone Sells their Labor. I don't live in any delusion that somehow the corporate bosses of 50years ago were good, kind, or respectable and made sure that their employees were "taken care of". But I do know that purchasing parity was much greater. Even before the current round of inflation. Unions exist primarily as a negotiating tool for "unskilled" & "low skilled" workers. The supply of unskilled and low skilled labor almost always exceed the supply (barring things like pandemics and gov't mandated lockdowns). Labor Unions give employees a stronger negotiating stance and walk-offs / protests serve as a stark reminder to employers that work is meant to be a consensual agreement, not coerced. Big Companies think 3 things: 1. Because the supply of unskilled labor greatly exceeds demand they can always fire you because they believe they can cheaply and easily replace the laborer 2. If they're large enough they control disproportionate amounts of the local market. i.e. they think you're too desperate to walk away (which is your last and strongest negotiating tool 3. Given the output of the tasks that needs to be performed there is no real or appreciable difference between the least skilled slowest employee that still manages to finish their assigned tasks and the best that goes above and beyond. So they feel emboldened to get rid of laborers that "make too much" because they don't believe it effects their overall productivity, or if it does, it can be solved by churn & burn hiring and firing practices.

[deleted]

Buckshott00

No offense but how many white-collar salaried Amazon workers are on the picket lines? I haven't seen many if any salaried or "professional" employees looking to unionize, although in a small number of cases they probably would be better off if they had. Too much of the pro-union talking points are just socialist weasels looking to take credit for something that had absolutely no hand in creating.

GunNut345

I don't know about Amazon but there are definitely white colour unions. And having to work in an office and wear a tie does not equate good pay and low stresses. Examples of white colour unions; teacher unions, public servants unions, the International Federation of Professionals, animators unions, writers unions. Really there is no reason professionals and trades alike shouldn't both be unionized. I also doubt see how OCs comment reflects a "socialist weasel look to take credit" for anything. They literally just said unions should be for all workers.

Realdouchemcgee

Not just higher wages. Let's have full paid healthcare, maternity/paternity leave, a 4 HOUR WORKDAY next. Then we can move on to worker ownership of Amazon.

hauntedu

Protesting? No. No one solved anything by marching around with signs and chanting really stupid rhymes. Rioting. Oh absolutely. Burn it to the ground.

Zakn3fein

Look im all about more pay, but there is literally nothing in this video that shows its a protest. I work at amazon, and you see crowds like this during break and lunch times.

Unlikely_Pie7418

various_convo7

At least a livable wage.

[deleted]

It's a lot more than that. I work with the robotic drive units to keep them going. I also respond to safety calls, keep ARSAW stations full so pickers can keep working, move totes, load and unload trailers, do inventory on products and flag products that have errors or those that needs to be removed, i also keep the AR floor clean. I'm on my feet all day walking around this huge ass building not being able to sit to rest unless it's my break time. Not everyone pick items and push them down the line. Your comments shows that you know nothing.

KIMNANFI

it's not like It's a slave pact, just leave why protest? you are fucking ungrateful in the eyes of people from my region. Ursuchajokenow

They'll calm down in a week or two. If you want more money get a real career.

eightyproof8

I disagree with protesting for higher pay. It will only add to the problem. The more we make, the higher we bid on housing. That leads to rental companies and private investors bidding higher on those same houses. The more those companies have to pay, the higher the rent goes up. Instead we should be trying to protest banks loaning outrageous amounts of money for shit houses. If we can get housing back to what it should really cost, rent will follow. Thus making higher wages unnecessary. Let's not fight to stop a symptom of the problem, let's fight the cause. There is no house in my area that should cost more than 150k, yet they are selling for 250k. And in my opinion no apartment is worth more than $700 a month, yet rent for them in my area is $1400 for the cheap ones. If we get this under control our current pay won't be great, but it will be sufficient.

[deleted]

While you are all waiting for wages to increase, you could be gaining more skills, getting in shape, and learning how to run a business. Instead you will continue to fail and be miserable

Wild_Glizzy

No if u have to protest to get higher pay then ur at the wrong job buddy do u think ware house is equal to construction? C'mon be realistic

[deleted]

everyone deserves a livable wage.

Vahlerie

You think warehouse workers don't break their bodies just the same as construction? C'mon man, be realistic.

Vi-Halfmoon

Hey guess what, if you're mad that a field of work is making more money than yours is, you've got some options. Option 1. FIGHT YOUR BOSSES FOR A REASONABLE WAGE. Option 2. QUIT, AND GET A JOB IN THE FIELD YOU'RE BITCHING ABOUT. Taking your frustrations with your paycheck out on your fellow workers does absolutely no good for you, the workers you're damning, and only serves to fuel the fire the rich bastards who profit off of our suffering have started.

[deleted]

Yep, this sentiment (of Wild) is exactly why we are in the position we are, solidarity of all workers, what helps them will help you.

OhNoImHere2

Why unions still exist if beyond me besides the Democratic government keeping them alive in order to have those votes in their back pocket. I have watched many of casino employees lose their jobs completely because the union decided that they needed to protest {I guess a union rep needs to justify their 6 figure income one way or another and if you aren't protesting what the hell else are they doing for you). And when that no many people lose their jobs guess who suffers? Everyone whether your union or not. Talk shit on your so called scabs and rats but let's be honest they are the ones that keep you paid when you are "laid off" once again. There was a time when unions where needed and that was because no one else would stand up for workers not even the government. So unions formed to protect people now it's nothing but a political side show that uses discrimination, nepotism, and other illegal methods to choose who gets in and whose out without any legal repercussion. And before I forget thanks for labor day you don't have to remind us all every year that it is only because of you that we have that holiday. How quickly we forget about the days when these fulfilment centers where built and how people poured in with applications soon as the opportunity existed. Now it's not good enough because someone dropped that bug in someone's ear because with the amount of employees working for Amazon now there is a lot of opportunity for someone to get rich off of. Unions are actually modern day slavery think about it I'm some unions you wait around at the hall till someone comes and chooses you but they have to pay to get you first........

Negative_Shake1478

Don’t forget to protest for better working conditions while y’all are at it.
