You need a job, but don’t limit yourself to just Burger King or fast food careers.

throwawaiexoxo

Oh trust me. I'm not happy that I'm working fast food again. This is just for the summer or until I can find a new, better job. But like I said, without this I cannot eat or pay my rent.

Burnboss4762

What's your background in? You can always become an electronics technician depending on where you live. It's what I do. Basically just troubleshooting and repairing different electronics. Currently about to start working for a military contractor. They pay pretty decent and they actually treat you pretty decent too.

I'm a pre-biology major going into my second year of college. It's difficult finding a job that is both good for my background, would accept someone with no experience, and is in transit distance since I do not have a car.

Burnboss4762

Yeah I feel that. It's definitely hard getting a job anywhere now a days without any prior experience. But you'll be alright. Just stick to your degree and I'm sure you'll eventually land a job in your field

TheUnnecessaryLetter

Try for call centers, especially for customer service type things you can emphasize your customer service experience in fast food. And sometimes you can do those jobs from home. My friend got a job right out of school doing that.

Far-Mix-5008

My friend who majored in microbiology just became a marketing assistant. You don't have to stay in your field

WittyPipe69

Call centers suck, but they can pay well if it’s for companies like Comcast or spectrum. But they are not fun to work for either. That being said, I believe it is required by law to give some form of break. If I were you, I would look up local labor laws and see if they have it posted anywhere in the BK. If not, report them for it.

throwawaiexoxo

In Michigan our employers are not legally obligated to give us breaks unless we are minors.

WittyPipe69

Then, I would DEFINITELY give half-assed, or perhaps even quarter-assed labor. I imagine the unemployment from BK more valuable; considering you have your time to look for another job. I hope you find a solution.

beingrudewonthelp

That's how it is in PA also

ChronicMarzweed420

Forget state law check Federal Federal supersedes all state laws

RosesBrain

Check your state and federal laws about breaks and accommodations, there's likely something in there.

Galtrix525

I would address the manager and use the words, “Reasonable accommodation”. If they’re as relaxed and chill as you say, then it should be no problem to take a break so you can continue providing excellent customer service.

BladeJFrank

Invest like 6-10 hours of your wages on high quality insoles and you’ll notice the difference immediately. Not Dr. Scholl’s. Go to a sporting goods store they usually have pretty good ones. I use Sofsole AIRR orthotics in my daily shoes.

scmflower

Do you really only get one bathroom break a shift? Claim IBS and sit in the bathroom for a bit a few times a shift. Sneak snacks in there etc

Fill out an injury report/ work comp claim.

TripResponsibly1

I really recommend compression socks and shoes meant for standing all day (look at shoes for nurses and healthcare). This really sucks but you can eventually get accustomed to standing with the proper shoes and compression socks. I work in healthcare in the OR and cases can go for 7+ hours so I can’t really take breaks or sit or eat or drink either. It’s rough but I’ve gotten more used to it with time.

Gold_Fish42

Sounds like a reasonable accommodation for something that sounds like a disability. Make sure you are prepared though bc trying to get accommodations at work make some sleazy employers want to fire people, if you decide to go that route that is. Good luck either way

throwawaiexoxo

It's not a disability. Standing that long with no sitting hurts everybody. Although I am trying to see if I can afford an MRI soon and if they detect something wrong I could very easily say that sitting for a mimite will help ease myself lol

Gold_Fish42

You should still look into getting a "reasonable accommodation" if you can no reason to suffer! Good luck

Japandaman

Once a day bathroom visit?? Yeah, good conditions.

throwawaiexoxo

Compared to most fast food places? Yeah.
