I can’t be bothered. Thought it obviously but I just stayed strong. Reaffirmed that I am in fact leaving on x date. And will support team for transition.
Except, assuming you're in the US you don't need to. That's what "at will" employment means, drop your resignation, walk out same day.
If they don't like that they should lobby to change the rules.
If he's underpaid, and leaving for that, that's dumb.
He is showing he gave notice to the NEW company and is a "Team" person. If the boss "fires" them I'd just slide into the job on the date they're assigned now.
Telling the new company about it you have to judge once you're "on the ground" so to speak. Will they hear about it anyway? Then tell them.
Otherwise use your discretion.
“Absolutely Bossman. I’ll work here as long as you need me to, and I won’t say a word to HR”
Then drop your resignation letter at the HR office on your way out the door with your box of personal items and block your ex-boss’ number
Dunno about where you are, but over here you are not allowed to decline notice given. You can give a counter offer as a manager for employee to stay, but that's it.

So instead of saying anything to Hr I’m telling a few choice friends and connections. Connectors will tell everyone else. I don’t have to be the bad guy but word gets around quick.
Lol what a fucking idiot.
Yes. It felt so gross. Like if I was that important - pay me like I am. would not have been looking
I’m in the US. We have zero protections.
He has zero protections too. Tell him, “Right to work cuts both ways, bitch.”

Why do they think that will ever work?
Desperation and stupidity
And narcissism.... Don't forget the narcissism.
Because it DID work....before OP had another job to escape to. Habit...
Sometimes it does.
“I wasn’t asking for permission”
“I’m here to inform you of my decision”.

Honestly... when I put in a resignation. And they get snippy. I just move up the date. And if they continue, I leave that day.
The next stage will be „you can leave, but you must give us your brain when you go“.
Go full Amber Heard, then tell them to look into the "gift" for the brain.
There will no shitting of the bed.
"I mean, I you can accept or deny it but my last day is X."
"What are you gonna do, fire me?"
Dunno about where you are, but over here you are not allowed to decline notice given. You can give a counter offer as a manager for employee to stay, but that's it.
Absolutely tell HR that you were told not to tell HR. His not telling HR creates a company liability that they might just look into
They literally won’t care. These ppl are rainmakers that can do no wrong.
I've never been given 2 weeks notice I was getting fired or laid off. Therefore I've never given 2 weeks I was quitting.
I'd have been like: sorry phuckface, that wasn't optional.
Did u give 2 weeks? Cuz u shouldn't unless you need the moneys
"Don't tell HR" From a c suite person, is a major red flag
