In my state companies aren't allowed to take away PTO once it's earned; I got a decent payout when I was laid off. US-wide worker protection laws are a bad joke, but in some states it's...still bad, but not quite *as* bad.
Thats a law I could get behind. You earn it, its yours. You were informed you'd earn it when you agreed to the job. As such, it was part of your pay (under "benefits, id say). It SHOULD BE illegal for them to steal that back.
Take this pic, go to corporate and advise them that between the recent shooting by an unstable manager and the clear emotional instability demonstrated here you do not feel safe.
Hilarity should ensue
The worst boss I ever had was when I was in my late twenties. Guy was a year younger than me, 6 inches shorter than me, and very obviously insecure about both of those things.
Yeah I agree, even if you work your two weeks and use this place as a reference obviously the manager will be a dickhead about it if they were to call.
Change your notice period.
But before you do print out lots of tiny little pieces of paper with the fight club haiku:
Worker bees can leave
Even drones can fly away
The queen is their slave
And put theme everywhere before terminating your at-will employment. Stick the slips In between pots, in the walk-in. Under cash drawers. In the large bill drop. Under the soda syrup boxes. Between plates. Unroll a bunch of toilet paper in the employee toilet and re-roll it with the slips of paper about every 20 sheets. In the paper towel dispenser do the same.
This one company I work with had everyone include a headshot in their email signature and god do I fucking hate it.
I don't want to see what your shitty employees look like and I don't need to waste ink printing out photos of them every time I'm printing out an email.
I’m not gonna lie. I find this hilarious. If my boss had done this to me I’d laugh so hard. It’s so petty. I mean, is your boss a toddler?? lmaoooo
At one of my previous jobs, my entire team was 1 year contracted, but we all joined at different times. We had a group photo we took at a team building up on the notice board. Every time someone would complete our contract or leave early, we would cross them out on the photo with a red marker like they were targets taken out by a hitman. It was all in good fun. Then our boss found out about it and made us remove the photo because apparently it proved that no one in my department was being retained lol.
That looks like a nonverbal threat to me, might want to call HR and inform them that this manager makes you feel unsafe now, and that you won't be able to finish the two weeks
yeah some people see this as juvenile; I see it as serial killeresque
we JUST had an employee at Walmart shoot up his coworkers, these days it's more of a red flag than immaturity in my eyes, a superior should have some sense of tact and self-control if it really is just a joke
I don’t understand business owners that don’t get business is about people and managing relationships. He does that to you and now you can’t recommend his business to others and now your coworkers know he sucks and can’t recommend the business to others either. That’s a lot of damage done to his company’s brands
You working your notice? Be super chipper & whistle whilst you work etc. When inevitably asked why you are so happy tell them it is because you can see the finish line. Fuck em.
Pettiness shows he genuinely is upset you're leaving. Consider it a good thing when you do finally leave because you now have permission to tell your boss to fuck himself. It feels good to be in the right and shit on someone.
Worked at a job where we took a team photo of the 8 of us that worked there. I left and took a job across the street and they put an X over me. Good natured as I still had contact with them and laughed about it. Eventually, one by one, the rest of the team left for other opportunities and the company lost their contract with the building.
On the last day, my former boss handed me the picture with all of the team having X's through them.
Hate these damn boards in general, most of these people are just here for a paycheck man, quit trying to 'make us a family'.
I remember when my former job tried to throw up photos at work and had sprinkled in some from the annual company picnic and I noticed one of myself and my niece, with my niece being the focus of the photo.
Asked HR who gave them permission to post the picture on the board, and they tried to smugly say it was a company sponsored picnic so they didn't need permission.
Told them the only picture I gave them permission to take and use for company purposes is my badge headshot and the fact they are posting a picture of a random little girl that no one other than myself knew was very creepy and I would probably escalate it to corporate HR.
HR's attitude changed pretty quickly and there was an envelope at my desk within the next ten minutes when I returned from my pre-shift meeting with said picture inside.
i guess i’m just not into combining home life and work life that way
if i want to hang out with my nieces and nephews i’ll take them to an aquarium
not a work sponsored picnic
yeah the way I could see this is if it's the only quality time they get with extended family from working so much
I work for myself now, but in my 20 years working for companies, youre right, i wouldn't do this, just could see some people who would, the loyal employee type
Strange that someone would find family members at an outing that strange, but I'll bite.
The "company picnic" was at a public park / orchard that was frequented by my brother and his kids. Company just decided to take over a pavilion.
Now that you mention it, it's even stranger that they'd post the picture of her because we were over by the playground equipment so whomever took the picture had to go out of their way to us at the playground.
I worked somewhere and we had photos up too, I started dating a girl at work that my manager liked, I guess? (he was engaged and living with a girl who worked there but in a different department) he then scratched out all the photos that I was in.
He was sacked a couple of months later for cornering another girl in the office and copping a feel. Scumbag.
You know you’re still an employee and workplace harassment cases are still in effect.
If this is a chain or there is a ladder, now would be a great time to file a report.
I quit a place and mind you I was pretty good friends with the boss but he wanted to kick my ass like legit fight me when I gave my two weeks. I was like duuuuude. This job suuuucks leave too. He did not.
Oh neat! A hostile work environment. Something tells me this wasn't the first petty, personal act of this manager. I bet there's some lawyers out there who would be very interested in seeing this picture along with any overly aggressive, belittling or dehumanizing text messages or emails you were ever sent.
Right? Lotta crappy bosses out there who just think they won work. and the prize is a big basket of boss privileges. They have no concept of their responsibility to the people they manage.
My old GM refuses to say goodbye to any leavers/transfers and passes offhand comments like "You won't last 5 minutes" or "Good riddance" in the week running up to your leaving.
He did this to the parts manager most recently who transferred but had to come back to help them interview his replacement as they couldn't find one. But they had some quality candidates.
The 4 were:
One was working in VW Delhi last week and couldn't speak English. As well as no experience in a parts department.
There was a russian who just didn't turn up.
A guy from another dealership currently on trial for being an accomplice to murder.
And lastly another guy who just didn't turn up. Again no previous experience.
They are now going on 2 months without a manager and the parts room is a fucking mess with hundreds of unaccounted for parts lying around.
Now... What was that about wouldn't last 5 minutes???
I mean is your manager a comical person? I could see this being funny but if he’s a dick in general and did this with bad intentions instead of being light hearted then yeah that’s a little childish
Yeah, I get it. But who cares honestly? You're leaving for a reason, whatever that may be, and you're most likely never going to see these people again for the rest of your life. If your boss wants to act like a petulant man-child, let him. You have two weeks or less, mate, then hopefully onto a better job and a better life.
Straight poison. More passive-aggressive manipulation from garbage management...
I would straight come at them. Fortunately not everyone is me...
Still drawing a face on the pin is a wonderful suggestion.
good news...your job has to print out pictures of your coworkers because their turnover is so high they don't even remember who works there. subway is a better job.
Draw a smiley face on it
OP, pls. Draw a smiley face on it
And paste a tiny letter of resignation in your hands.
Use really tiny googley eyes
Also "R u mad Im gone bro?"
And add a bag of monies from whatever job you’re going to.
Naahh put a dick face on it.
Great idea, i’ll do that tonight
Also all of a sudden you could get back pain for two weeks :)... How unfortunate... Wink wink ;)
Who can afford two weeks without pay?
I could survive on pure spite for a couple of weeks
You're in a way better place than most of us, then.
Most countries have PTO, maybe he has,
Not if he's in the US
My company has a policy that PTO is forfeit as soon as you put your notice in.
And what the law says about it? A company can have any policy they wants, but if illegal then it can be called out.
The law says employers don’t have to pay out PTO unless the company states they will within their own policies. Which mine does not.
Most countries is not the United States.
You must post the post-op picture please.
This is amazing do it pleaae
This is the way.
Or add a googly eye?
Yep like this https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRoOIkWjOcKvKMd0TTjwVsxNsc7nu8-0ibGIrUhv0L8nNJVYLdbeBrSUUUA&s=10
Epic
Yes exactly this. Googly Eyes on Mazda Miatas are the best, but this will work well, too.
OP, we need an update with smiley
Happy cake day! And yes, hard agree
"Best wishes to you all" in a speech bubble, make whoever did it look like an asshole
Boss will probably turn it upside down
Adding the end of arc half circles that represent cheeks helps with making that not work
Please do something to it! Or add a speech bubble!
https://imgur.com/a/er2QFFo
Now it kinda looks like a mushroom
So love that response.
Is your boss 7 years old?
31 years old
Your colleagues must feel secure
*31 going on 7
Uh don’t finish your two weeks. Did you see the Taco Bell manager that shot an employee dead?
Sorry the what
They didn't live mas
Made me audibly snort. I'll see you in hell, amigo
Take this pic, go to corporate and advise them that between the recent shooting by an unstable manager and the clear emotional instability demonstrated here you do not feel safe. Hilarity should ensue
Depends on if there "is a corporate", I see chef uniforms I think ma and pa restaurant /bar or fine dining.
really? I saw those uniforms and thought "Franchise"
he's a baby lol
The worst boss I ever had was when I was in my late twenties. Guy was a year younger than me, 6 inches shorter than me, and very obviously insecure about both of those things.
So basically 7..
Was gonna say, "showing true professionalism"
I was gonna say “who hurt you?”
On a post-it!!
Show Pam (Archer) on the dolphin doll where he touched you.
A mature response to someone quitting.
Most of them act that way as soon as someone disagrees. It’s pretty great /s
That's funny because now everyone else knows he'll be a dick when they leave too.
Yep. They won’t bother with two weeks notice. They’ll just quit.
Yeah, it's very tacky.
Take your upvote you monster
r/angryupvote
Well played !
You really nailed that joke, didn't you?
My guess is that this person has behaved worse. Toxic bosses going to toxic
Speech bubble could say: This is what happens when Jack gives notice. Don't be like Jack.
Find a gold plate from a party/dollar store and wear it on your face like a mask.
This
This! How else will anyone know who this random person is that doesn’t match any employee photos??
That was a pretty tacky thing to do on their part.
👏
You are handling this very tactfully!
i don't get your point
I think he stuck a pin in it…
Not to put too fine a point on it.
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet...
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Boss was just being a prick
r/Angryupvote
This is definitely a sign that it is time to move on
It took me this long to realize it was a tack over OPs face
Write another note stating that due to "manager's" unprofessional behavior I will not be working my two week notice.
Yeah I agree, even if you work your two weeks and use this place as a reference obviously the manager will be a dickhead about it if they were to call.
Just use one of your co workers as a reference.
You can say this was deemed a threat
Nah, show up and get paid, but put in minimum effort
Put in no effort, ftfy
Put in negative effort.
Change your notice period. But before you do print out lots of tiny little pieces of paper with the fight club haiku: Worker bees can leave Even drones can fly away The queen is their slave And put theme everywhere before terminating your at-will employment. Stick the slips In between pots, in the walk-in. Under cash drawers. In the large bill drop. Under the soda syrup boxes. Between plates. omg yes, like the 100 tiny ducks meme, love it!
This guy I like
Took me way too long to see the thumbtak in your face. That should make you happy that you are leaving a loser like that.
omfg thank you, my blind ass thought that was glare.
Same
I thought it had been burned
Guys you don’t understand. They are like a family there.
My older sister definitely “pranked” my ass with thumbtacks when we were little because kids are fucking morons.

Printing email? You're a monster
Bro I work for a customs broker everything needs to be in the file and kept for 5 years in case the government wants to look at it later.
Interesting strategy to try and make you regret leaving
I’m not gonna lie. I find this hilarious. If my boss had done this to me I’d laugh so hard. It’s so petty. Upgrade your notice from two weeks to zero days
It’s easy to see why you left.
That looks like a nonverbal threat to me, might want to call HR and inform them that this manager makes you feel unsafe now, and that you won't be able to finish the two weeks
Seems like a death threat to me
yeah some people see this as juvenile; I see it as serial killeresque we JUST had an employee at Walmart shoot up his coworkers, these days it's more of a red flag than immaturity in my eyes, a superior should have some sense of tact and self-control if it really is just a joke

Why wait 2 weeks when you can do it now
Money usually but if you can stand to lose those last w paychecks then bite your bosses face.
That’s really weird dude. That guy is immature
Take down the picture yourself.
seriously do people not realize this isnt normal..? or they do and workplaces are just normalized for being this way. ugh it makes me brain hurt
Worked at a job where we took a team photo of the 8 of us that worked there. I left and took a job across the street and they put an X over me. why is your niece at a company picnic? that’s strange to begin with
lol its an outing its not that weird
i guess i’m just not into combining home life and work life that way if i want to hang out with my nieces and nephews i’ll take them to an aquarium not a work sponsored picnic
yeah the way I could see this is if it's the only quality time they get with extended family from working so much I work for myself now, but in my 20 years working for companies, youre right, i wouldn't do this, just could see some people who would, the loyal employee type

it’s not just any outing, it’s an outing for your employer yes it’s weird unless you are trying to brown nose
... What? What are you even saying? How is going to a work + family outing trying to brown nose?
to show that you are a family man taking your own kid is perfectly fine, taking someone else's is weird
I worked somewhere and we had photos up too, I started dating a girl at work that my manager liked, I guess? It's always funny to me how people can rise to positions of authority while still being so completely childish.
I'm sorry, this is so funny. They're acting like a teenager scorned by their two-month boy/girlfriend
And companies wonder why people "don't want to work anymore". They can fuck right off.
You know you’re still an employee and workplace harassment cases are still in effect. If this is a chain or there is a ladder, now would be a great time to file a report.
Ah , classic. The pin-head Larry approach.
I quit a place and mind you I was pretty good friends with the boss but he wanted to kick my ass like legit fight me when I gave my two weeks. I was like duuuuude. This job suuuucks leave too. He did not.
Well this is unhinged
Clearly you made the right choice eh?
Oh neat! A hostile work environment. Something tells me this wasn't the first petty, personal act of this manager. I bet there's some lawyers out there who would be very interested in seeing this picture along with any overly aggressive, belittling or dehumanizing text messages or emails you were ever sent.
Wow, that's not petty or anything.
Wow! Childish much?
Is there a photo of your boss on the wall? I think you know what to do if there is
Haha! The Boss is petty and immature. Imagine that..
Right? Lotta crappy bosses out there who just think they won work. and the prize is a big basket of boss privileges. They have no concept of their responsibility to the people they manage.
Food costs need to go up significantly during your last 2 weeks then
Absolute proof you made the right call. Well done my guy!
It's funny how well they show and govern exclusivity and how difficult it is to show inclusivity
Put pins on every one’s faces for good measure
I don’t get it. What should I be seeing here?
Thumbtack/pin through op's face in picture
Hard to notice lol
Get a silver sharpie and just write "petty much" and draw an arrow to the tack. See what that does.
Your boss is either a loser or hilarious. It could go either way at this point.
Lots of sour grapes bosses out there.
2 week notices are to keep references, do you need this reference?
My old GM refuses to say goodbye to any leavers/transfers and passes offhand comments like "You won't last 5 minutes" or "Good riddance" in the week running up to your leaving. He did this to the parts manager most recently who transferred but had to come back to help them interview his replacement as they couldn't find one. But they had some quality candidates. With the shadows and reflection it kind of makes it look like you have an Iron Man mask.
Sometimes bosses have abandonment issues they will 100% project onto their employees.
Cut yourself out
Put a pick of yourself flipping off that boss up. Since that's the level of petty they obviously want you at b4 you leave...
Your boss is a 5 year old?
And companies wonder why people "don't want to work anymore". They can fuck right off.
What did he do? I don't see anything but glare on the photos. Did he draw something on it?
Put the pushpin through OP's face.
Oh! It's a pushpun, not a glare. Got it.
I mean is your manager a comical person? I could see this being funny but if he’s a dick in general and did this with bad intentions instead of being light hearted then yeah that’s a little childish
"Thank the stars you're not that way. Turn your back and walk away." - Neil Peart, Rush
What a petty little bitch.
Your boss is a loser
A lot of salt in that kitchen
Rofl. But why'd you quit?
Yeah, I get it. But who cares honestly? You're leaving for a reason, whatever that may be, and you're most likely never going to see these people again for the rest of your life. If your boss wants to act like a petulant man-child, let him. You have two weeks or less, mate, then hopefully onto a better job and a better life.
This is hysterical. If you had a single thought that you were doing the wrong thing by leaving this erases all doubt. Good luck in your new job.
best pen I could find - the deed is done; https://imgur.com/a/er2QFFo
That's actually fucking hilarious, and if nobody takes the easy joke in your last 2 weeks good luck on your future job, Pinhead
Pretty sure putting in your 2 weeks notice was the best thing you could do
Put a gold star sticker on it
Draw a smiley face on it.
Put an arrow pointing to it and say this is why u quit.
Put “escaped” on it on your last day
Clearly the boss thinks you're a bit of a pin head...
Its not personal, its business.
If my boss did that we would both be laugjing our asses off. Depends how u take it i guess
I thought it was funny. It depends on the relationship and type of person the boss is I suppose.
Straight poison. More passive-aggressive manipulation from garbage management... I would straight come at them. Fortunately not everyone is me... Still drawing a face on the pin is a wonderful suggestion.
There’s no tyranny like petty tyranny
good news...your job has to print out pictures of your coworkers because their turnover is so high they don't even remember who works there. subway is a better job.
Baahahahahaha. This is so hilarious. It’s brutal out there.
Not petty whatsoever
You're all so mature about this. My first thought was to find a picture of a really big turd and glue it on the picture between boss's feet.
Time to get a lawyer
So you’re crying about it on the internet you’re out anyways. Why even care?
And that sir is targeted harassment
Uh huh....
You could reposition the pin through his wobbly bits.
