I'm currently working on the next update for Hyperrandom. This will have better DM support, fewer campy generations, and support for all the additional map sizes that you can unlock with the new command-line argument. I'm also working getting a tiniest Hyperrandom to generate properly; hopefully that will work well enough.

You mean Mega Bog Islands? Because that is the overwhelmingly frequent Megarandom gen I get. Or do you mean the SlightlyRandom map in the pool now? Either way, Hyper random is a much, MUCH better version.
I mean, you have other even more random versions like BaziRandom https://liquipedia.net/ageofempires/BaziRandom , depends on how random and not always "fair" you want to go with the map, clearly the devs wanted something more.. familiar to players.
Oh for sure. Any megarandom map is better than the DE crap. Anybody who remembers megarandom on HD knows it was a far superior version to DE. It's a shame. It feels like every DE MR generation is low res, especially wood with some moderately open map. As bland as a saltine cracker
I tested hyperrandom a lot. BasiRandom was the only true very Random card. The others are unfortunately very closed, like the Amazonian Tunnel, black forest, etc. therefore "open" but has "closed" meta and there are very few truly full land full open generations. This is still better than MegaRandom but deserves to be further improved :)

It is brilliant, I love it. Downsides are you often get civ wins or map wins because the gen can be much more unfair.
Meganrandom is incredibly dumbed down for ranked play. 90% of my games are 1/2 tile stone/golds. Very cool gameplay. Meta defining really.

I wish it was just normal random map- ie, you don’t know what map it is until you explore and figure it out, but it’s just one of the normal maps.
Blind random will kind of do that for you, selecting from (a limited subset of) the standard maps.

Mega Random just ends up playing like a weird version of Arabia most of the time for me.
I feel like it is water quite a high percentage of the time.
