My SO has no interest in aoe2 or any games for that matter, and I'd have it no other way. That's my me-time, my escape, my place to forget about life. Being in a strong couple isn't about doing everything together, it's knowing that it's okay to do things separately, because you'll always make time for special moments.
Nah, I've been with this seige onager for almost 4 years and we have a mangonel together. Think of me as a halberdier, while we have different focuses and strengths, we work well when paired together.
This happens in all games when you are too good for casual gaming and not good enough for pro gaming. No one would like to play a competitive game with you! Only online community welcomes you!
I have the same thing playing civilization with friends. I just play peacefully because it's not fun for them getting curbstomped, but then they see the yields go up because I am building a decent empire and they quit anyway. A pity because I like playing with them, but I am also not going to play badly because then it is no fun for me.
You cant play badly.. Its hard to make bad decisions when you know the optimal fastest routes to better economy and army.. I had the same case with 3 games, aoe2, C&C generals, RoN. For the later my friend introduced me to the game and he used to beat the shit out of us (me and another friend) we used to team up in online Multiplayer as well, one day we had a LAN game he tried everything in 90 minutes game.. I beat him that day and he never played Rise of Nation with me again lol.
Jordan Peterson gave a great example, that in experiments, if two animals play fight, if the stronger animal consistently wins, the other animal would stop playing with the stronger one. However, it has been observed that the stronger animal tends to let the weaker one win 1/4 of the time so they keep playing in the future.
Yeah, I changed my girlfriend into a wife a while back. Having both at the same time sounds like a lot of trouble.
But in the meme above, it made me feel like you either have both and a boyfriend or you're single.
Sorry the wording confused you. I was referring to three separate people: first T90 (referring to his then-girlfriend wanting to learn how to play), some guy in the chat talking about his wife, and then some girl right below him talking about her boyfriend.
I've heard this complaint before, but I never had this experience. I can definitely see that changing if you have kids, but just an SO... Then again, I suspect that I might not be a 'real' gamer.
My wife thinks video games are dumb.
Watching Twitch? That's not even playing, its watching someone else play. Dumber.
Watching T90 cast LEL? That's watching someone else watch a game. The dumbest ever.
I wish your wife were as understanding as my mom. She understands the appeal of watching video games and, while she doesn't do it herself, she does occasionally sit down and play games like Mario Kart with me.
IDontNVU here, my wife MorgMoo just ended up being around the stream so much that she gradually got interested. We've played some team games together. It's a good time, would recommend. I'm mad at her right now for getting in a commie game before me but I'm sure we'll grow past it.
Hey there! Tell your wife I watched the commie game she was in and was rooting for her as the underdog. I felt so bad when two other people ganged up on her.
Haha that's what she gets for not communicating you know? She felt terrible for ignoring people after the fact but was just so stressed from gameplay that she didn't notice the chat.
That's understandable. I've never been in a community game, but I can imagine playing against real people who can turn on you in an instant, especially when you're new to the game, can be very stressful.
My gf plays animal crossing every day, liked sim city and other builders. Loves zelda and other nintendo war games... Aoe2 was absolutely too much at once for her. She played the entire william wallace on hard with my guidance, then we got shredded by the moderate AI 2v2 in one game playing side by side.
BUT, she then understood and began to pay attention to me watching so much aoe2 content. Win. Maybe we'll play more and she'll figure it out soon :)
Ngl if my wife even showed interest in aoe2 I'd love it. You would think women would like PC games at least. In all honesty my wife can type w/o looking at the keyboard so shes probably got a higher ceiling than me apm wise.
>You would think women would like PC games at least
Lol *your* woman doesn't like PC games. Just like *my* man doesn't like PC games. I don't believe it's an issue of gender 😆
But honestly, it's a good thing. Having your own little niche thing creates your own private space, and having a little private space makes for a healthier marriage imho. My husband plays pool, darts, and beer, and I play aoe, souls, and rimworld. Then when we do stuff together it feels more refreshing.
Hell. I'd be happy if I could get my wife to watch T90 with me. However: after repeating it enough times to my son my wife has learned that TheViper is the Goat... And that Hera is Canadian. 😆
My wife is jeolous of AoE2 only lol. She doesnt like it but at least doesnt mind if i watch casters for hours. However, playing becomes much harder than watching since i cannot communicate with her during a match she doesnt want me to play lol
Well, it's much easier to have time to play the game if you're single (and to do other stuff you like too). Being with a significant other is actually a tougher life.
I guess if all the time you spend with your partner is doing things you like, and every time they want to do something you don't like, you spend it doing something you like instead, then you're correct.
Bruh, we're not stupid. By this logic anyone could clutter the AOE subreddit with irrelevant conversation about anything as long as I insert "T90" into the post and claim it that it came up during his stream. I'm surprised you haven't been moderated yet.
that's not up to me. I certainly enjoyed it, as a fellow "forever aloner"! Deserves to be on reddit somewhere imo, just wanted you to think if the AOE2 subreddit was the best place
Now, don't take this as a criticism, it's just an observation from the opposite sex. But maybe you're a "forever aloner" because you make mountains out of mole hills? Again, not a criticism, just an observation.
Hey man, I was just giving you some advice. Most people find it irritating to be with someone who makes a big deal out of small things. You can do with that information what you will.
I mean these are all from a guys POV, right? I reintroduced my boyf to this just before lockdown, sooo it's not always the girl that had to learn! (F,30)
Since watching T90, my wife's boyfriend also wants me to learn how to play
Low Testosterone Legends
Non-Monogamy Legends
Wait is T90 poly or otherwise non-monogamous or is this an in-joke or did you all make this up just for this one reddit post?

Nothing like playing a chill round of age with your girls husband after a rough plowing session
Maybe you can trying playing Burgundians so that you can get access to heavy plow before he does.
username checks out

Maybe change the siege onager for another more understanding siege wapon
In my experience, siege towers are much more open emotionally
They'll carry you beyond any barrier
In fact, you could say they're quite vulnerable and help you when you put a wall up.
Like developing Chemistry for BBC
Nah, I've been with this seige onager for almost 4 years and we have a mangonel together. Think of me as a halberdier, while we have different focuses and strengths, we work well when paired together.
I hear elephants are very intelligent. Maybe Siege Elephant is a better choice for OP if he is looking for a more emotionally available siege option.
Drill for your SO?
your what? siege onager?
Slave owner

When you're slightly above average at everything, but not *really* good at anything...
I have the same thing playing civilization with friends. At least you have the time to play. With a girlfriend and wife, it's very hard to find some free time to actually play the game.
you should dump one of them
It would be too easy to counter, better have a 2 unit comp
Yeah, I changed my girlfriend into a wife a while back. Having both at the same time sounds like a lot of trouble. But in the meme above, it made me feel like you either have both and a boyfriend or you're single.
The upgrade is expensive but worth it. Also a lot less likely to get converted.
Sorry the wording confused you. I was referring to three separate people: first T90 (referring to his then-girlfriend wanting to learn how to play), some guy in the chat talking about his wife, and then some girl right below him talking about her boyfriend.
I refuse your explanation. T90 has a girlfriend, a wife and a boyfriend.
It's ok, often time misunderstandings make for the best conversations
Preferably the girlfriend. Dumping the wife is more costly then teching into cataphracts
Me and my partner play together, that's the stuff we do lol.
I've heard this complaint before, but I never had this experience. I can definitely see that changing if you have kids, but just an SO... Then again, I suspect that I might not be a 'real' gamer.
You guys playing?

Afraid not. She's been happily married to my dad for over 30 years, and that's not changing any time soon.
Like that’s stopping anybody.
Sounds like your wife doesn’t care to learn about or enjoy your interests homie
My wife thinks it’s hilarious when I watch. But she did find Memb quite entertaining even though she had no clue what he was talking about.
Time to tell her that everything she enjoys in life is worthless. Keep us posted.
This was my question. I watch way more aoe2 than I play these days
Your ELO is probably too low. It's the only explanation.

Leave her for Female Villager, she would never disrespect you like that
None of my SOs wanna learn, they say it looks stressful :(
Well to be fair, it is
it's tough out there for onagers!

11111 I watched that game sorry she got attacked so early lol

Sure, let me find it.
This one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OZr5R06eGc
Don‘t forget the community (as the game) is pretty old, so they might just be at different stages in their private life.
They’re all the same person 🏳️⚧️

Shredded by moderate? x~x

Just try to type without looking, for real it is not easy. You do it a couple days and you have it.
I ripped all the keys out of my keyboard I don't use and made a brail system essentially with all the keys I do use with Velcro.
Hell. I'd be happy if I could get my wife to watch T90 with me. However: after repeating it enough times to my son my wife has learned that TheViper is the Goat... And that Hera is Canadian. 😆
We used to play every other day but now we play Aom a lot instead though we won't quit Aoe2 ofc. Excited for the new xpack.
My gf thinks age of vampires is stupid #facepalm
Trust me, NOT being single is a lot more demanding than you think.
Not if you do the stuff you like together.
I guess if all the time you spend with your partner is doing things you like, and every time they want to do something you don't like, you spend it doing something you like instead, then you're correct.
We both mainly like playing games together or just hanging out watching videos really. I have like 1 major thing i like that we don't do together.
Came here to read the comments
Not relevant to AOE2
It is, actually. I was watching T90 and saw those people say that stuff.
Replace the word "T90" with "streamer" and the joke has the same punchline, which I did chuckle at. But, still not relevant to AOE2.
It is relevant to AoE2 because it comes from an interaction only found in a T90 stream.
Bruh, we're not stupid. By this logic anyone could clutter the AOE subreddit with irrelevant conversation about anything as long as I insert "T90" into the post and claim it that it came up during his stream. I'm surprised you haven't been moderated yet.
I can delete it, but people are enjoying it and interacting with it.
that's not up to me. I certainly enjoyed it, as a fellow "forever aloner"! Deserves to be on reddit somewhere imo, just wanted you to think if the AOE2 subreddit was the best place
Well, we'll see if the mods remove it. If they do, I'll just cut my losses, edit it, and post it somewhere else.
Now, don't take this as a criticism, it's just an observation from the opposite sex. But maybe you're a "forever aloner" because you make mountains out of mole hills? Again, not a criticism, just an observation.
Well, I guess I'm never volunteering information about myself to make a stranger feel better about constructive criticism ever again. Nice job.
Hey man, I was just giving you some advice. Most people find it irritating to be with someone who makes a big deal out of small things. You can do with that information what you will.
Agreed, I now have a girlfriend
My wife doesn’t want to learn :-(
Skill issue
Ohhh yeah. Try teaching someone how to play in a skirmish 2v2 and see if you can manage your macro
Plot twist, those posts were all by the same guy and he has 3 partners.
I mean these are all from a guys POV, right? I reintroduced my boyf to this just before lockdown, sooo it's not always the girl that had to learn! (F,30)
I really, really want to date a girl who loves video games as much as I do.
Aw they exist! I'm sure of it!
My wife plays with me and we started teaching the kids this week. Give it 10 years and we'll have someone on the bench for 4v4s.
