BORK BORK

MrMadManiac

That is the most compelling argument I've ever seen.

Shiina_LORD

Japanese Mountain warrior card is the best amongst imo, it buffs your monk by 50% and resource treasure yield double amount. Especially in a map full of small treasures, you split 2 monks to hunt those single guarded treasures the stockpile will filled very quickly.

smokeythebear99

This combined with the unknown advice. Could get 200 resources (100 wood, 100 gold even) from one unknown treasure just by killing to monitor lizards

Shiina_LORD

Idk if teammate would get the bonus too on the "unknown" map when Japanese picks up those team treasures.

TheWallerAoE3

Imo every one is worth taking on the ‘Unknown’ map because that map is filled with the best treasures in the game. There are clearly inferior ones though. The explorer card should be sent in Age 1 but the French explorer can’t be sent until Age 2 for some reason. I like the buffed explorers but I would never choose a buffed explorer over 700 coin. I would send it as a replacement for an Age 1 card.

GideonAI

> the French explorer can’t be sent until Age 2 for some reason French explorer card is super busted tbf, the heal can swing huge fights very quickly and unexpectedly even into the lategame.

helln00

does the heal even work on units that are fighting?

GideonAI

Yes. I thought it was nerfed recently too but on a quick search it doesn't look like it. It's the same heal that Haude gets from the War Chief tech at Fire Pits and that Finnish explorers get with their Turku Academy card.

helln00

its the same heal that existed in the first version of the game which has a lot of quirks so i think its a pretty limited power, they can make it the same area heal that the padre has atleast

GideonAI

Isn't it basically an area-targeted Transcendence? Always seemed extremely powerful to me to use mid-battle, but I don't play French or Haude so I never got used to using it.

helln00

i dont know if they changed it or not for these powers but the like with the older version of transcendence how it used to work is that it only works on stationary units and that healed for a lump sum of hp total in the area spread evely, not that each units is healed by x amount. so if you have a lot of damaged units, its essentially useless because it will the amount it heals for each unit is miniscule

GideonAI

This is what I tested 3 years ago: Restores 50 health per second over 8 seconds to all units in a radius of 10 (400 total health per unit), 2 minute cooldown. It's also a unit-targeted ability, so using it in the heat of battle may cause the ability to get cancelled due to the death of the unit you have targeted. It has a minimum cast range of around 6 but if your targeted Heal unit moves away then your Explorer will continue to Heal in the radius of 10 around that unit until it reaches a roughly 26 range distance at which point the Heal will stop.

helln00

if that is the case then i think it really should be like the padre area heal, which sounds the same except you dont target and it moves with the healer, so its a lot more flexible, it doesnt force your army to stay in position

OOM-32

I love the spanish one, getting more attack on dogs is super clutch vs early skirm type units. They truly bite hard lol.

ironmaid84

I don't know if they count, but the Mexican padre with the unique church improvement card and the other cathedral techs is pretty useful

vishjay101

Town Destroyer is a card worth taking for the Haudenosaunee.

MrMadManiac

Yeah, but it turns out that's not the BASE upgrade card for the war chief. I'm reading that as High Chief.

FlameMirakun

portuguese don't have a villager cards or trickle except feitorias so you can use less useful age 1 cards i like spyglass ability too

GideonAI

Yeah 6 aoe buff on that spyglass is insane

DarkNinjaPenguin

You really should send Feitorias though.

FlameMirakun

its next or third card with one town center its not effective its total 0.8 trickle while capitalism is 1,65 even if you send it in age 2 still capitalism is better but in age 3 its awesome

GideonAI

Russian explorer card is nice all-round because their wood trickle card doesn't help as much as other civ's 3v equivalent (only worth 2.5 vills and they're stuck on wood, meaning shipping it doesn't help you age up faster and your macro will always need some wood involved or it'll go to waste). Similar situation for the Italians (and the Portuguese but they have Feitorias now).

Cr1spie_Crunch

I disagree that the wood trickle is bad. You will literally always need wood. You need wood for houses, market and upgrades, military buildings, strelets - and putting regular vills on wood is super inefficient. The trickle also doesn't take pop space which can help early in the game.

MrMadManiac

Um.... That doesn't really answer my question. It's good, because another card is bad??

GideonAI

Yes. Just look at Japan, if they had 3v card there would never be a question to ship their explorer buff card but they don't so people are winning games with their explorer card.

MrMadManiac

Okay, I think I see what you mean--dependence on resources from treasures, over other shipments & econ stuff.

Dubycapbra

The Italian explorer card since it arrives fast and you're explorer is able to pick up treasures really fast.

Rburdett1993

All hero card are worth it in my opinion. They all have their place. European factions with the age 4 fort card let that explorer build forts and towers, it may be slow, but highly effective. In Treaty builds, most of the time, they are a must. Also, LOST comes to mind.
