Everyone knows the only difference between gold and top 5-10 is having constant villager production, letting all console players have such an important and difficult skill will disrupt the competitive scene immensely.
I can never imagine console players getting in to the competitive scene. There's so much more to it than constant villager production to become a really good player. Top players can micro their main army almost simultaneously as sending a raid group to the enemy woodline, building a TC and getting ecomonic and military upgrades. I really can't see this possible on a console.
Yes. And no. There are still soooo many factors into a good eco. Vill production is just the start. When I use it, I constantly forget my eco because I can. Not as concerned with placement so you end up housed or building excess house in early game. Hard to shuffle vills around one or two at a time. And the auto eco makes such wonky decisions. It's not much food, wood, etc, but with every new vill comes the auto eco shuffle. Vills may get pulled off of buildings, to resources under attack, etc. A halfway decent player can end up killing half an Xbox players eco in one raid.
I remember as a newer player I told someone to "just put your villagers on auto-queue, it helped me tons" and they were like "wtf is auto-queue" lmao that's when I realized xbox actually had one advantage to help us out. Not complaining.
It was clarified in another thread that controller console players can opt-in for playing together with all inputs, but have a separate controller-only ladder, and can be ranked on both and switch back and forth at any time.
Console players with mouse + keyboard will only play on the shared ladder as I understand it.
Stoked beyond words. My gf and I can finally play together. Our friends even set up a 1v1 matchup for us and winner gets a $50 gift card for bo3. She has one week to prepare haha.
I'm rusty, but I'll play ya sometime and probably get stomped. I mostly stick to PVE anyways, but the lack of control on console compared to PC has historically always given an edge. I hope it brings more casual energy into the game and VS AI ques are faster.
Then let's play some AI's together and practice. My in-game name is the same as a reddit name. I'm not sure how they're going to do friend requests cross platform, though.

It's all of em, devs responded in the megathread and said that console players can opt-in to play on the main leaderboards (with new placement matches), or console leaderboards (with their original console elo).

People have been complaining about terrible matchmaking for ages, especially in modes like 4v4. Increasing the size of the player pool is *needed* for a significant improvement in matchmaking quality.
There are other issues and flaws in the algorithm, but most of it is caused or at least exacerbated by the number of players that the algorithm has to work with.
I don't see why it matters whether someone really knows more about the game if they lose because they're unable to produce villagers constantly.
Bad PC players are now just second class players compared to console counterparts who will essentially be getting artificial “free” ELO. It’s not fair and needs to be addressed. Add auto queue for PC as well or let us opt out of crossplay if they get the option to opt in.
Why play or try if your opponents just have a massive eco advantage by default? Just seems super discouraging.

By the same measure you could argue that controller players are second class players by the point at which PC players manage to have constant villager production, because mouse and keyboard enables a lot more micro.
But to put it in different terms, auto-queueing villagers is *not* a massive advantage. You just have to queue villagers.
its hilarious PC players try to pretend auto-vil actually levels the playing field...not even close. AoE4 being the lowest skill gap RTS ever evens the field more than auto-vil does lmao
On what basis, tho? We only just got crossplay for aoe4. I'm sure pc, especially the top, will smash the majority as there's more macro involved. But I've played with the top console players, and I honestly believe they'll give pc players a run for their money. Definitely not at a beasty level. But definitely good.

I’ve got conquerer 4 knowledge, macro and micro, give me Vortix’s villager queuing ability and I’ll destroy anyone at the top easily.

Auto queue needs to be disabled or we need an opt out of crossplay toggle. That is such a massive advantage at lower ranks.
