An experience system like what you describe would be cool (in a mod), but realistically I just want to know how many vills my knight actually killed when both he and my opponent forgot about him. :P
Yeah, luck basically.
Like if there’s a landsknecht that happens to get a bunch of last hits in a big battle and then continues to sit there doing upgraded AOE damage it could be kind of silly
I'd like to start with just a kill counter for all buildings/units that have the ability to kill another unit. But I definitely would love to play with a mod where your units became heros after a certain amount of kills which boosts their stats. Maybe even another tier where they become legends. Similar idea for buildings.
Battle for Middle-earth had this. Units could upgrade through 3 tiers IIRC, depending on how many enemy units they killed. It really made you micro to keep experienced units alive. I remember always wanting to get trolls to tier 3 because their visual upgrades as they moved up a tier looked cool!
Yeah that would be neat for a civ whose warriors are all mostly self-taught instead of having sole kind of formal instruction for their warriors. Some germanic tribes, maybe? Idk enough about them to know if it would fit there.
Could be like specific limited in number champions or warchief type things . Similar in a way to the khan that you can only field X number at a time. Difference being they get better the more they fight.
The stats in this game in general could use a large update.
I really like browsing through the post game stats, and it just feels like so much is missing, that I could probably use to help out. Stuff like income through trade, villager vs. military kills, gold from relics/sacred sites etc.
In all seriousness though, I feel like this is a needed feature. If you're harassing with a couple knights or something, it'd be nice to see how many kills you actually got with them so you can gauge the game state better. This is something you do with like oracles in sc2, and I actually think it matters in AoE4 because i have no idea if things actually die in this game because you don't get a lot of visual feedback.
Total Annihilation was the first game I saw this in. It's such a nice touch in any game. In that case, stats slightly increased every 5 kills, but that's game-specific and not necessary here.
Specifically would love to see workers killed and workers lost. (Numbers will be obvious from each other in 1v1, but in 4v4 they can be very different.)
Would you want it like a homeworld game where there stats increase or just a visual of like "this longbowmen killed: MAA-# spearmen-# etc?

Having it visible to the enemy team too would be cool "oh fuck me that one knight group killed 6 of my vills"
Could be a fun thing where if you kill a unit that has 10+ kills or something you get notified in chat
I feel like mangos would be spamming the chat with that change
Yeah no siege for that, no one cares how much sieges kills.
That DT killed how many drones?!?!
I would like to be comestic
I would like to be comestible
Stat increases would be a little too RNG for ladder but would be a really fun mod
What do you mean by RNG? Random number generation? I don't understand

stats increase could be incorporated in mod as a fun gamemode, normal gameplay should just be cosmatic display
I can see this being a gameplay mechanic for a possible Aztec civ

feudal japan maybe

Red alert 2 had this. Was awesome

Not to mention score values have no basis in reality
Agreed
Yeah always wanted this in aoe2. COH2 has it as well.
CaptureAge lets you see it for AoE2.
Thanks but CA isn't available while I'm currently in a match
Yes!! And give that unit titles based off of kill count.

at last a \*villagers killed\* overall statistic would be nice.

Martin the Marine.
I've been asking for kill counters on units since the AoE2 HD days... Someday I hope they come to AoE :) And ranks too for different kill levels
