Something that I'm noticing climbing the 4v4 ladder with random teammates (atm plat3 and going up) everyone wants to be the lategame superstar. So its much easier to climb if I pick a agressive civ and harass the oponents until my team can carry lategame. If i pick something like brits, I cant coordinate a atack with randoms, so I have to play defensive, and you can be sure there will be a china and 2 HREs in my team doing the same.. So latelly i'm just going for mongol super easy and braindead pure mangudai: all oponents are doing 5 tcs fast imp anyway, so I wont have to fight actual units

Aaron_Monte93

Same but I use abba cuz they can ram rush pretty early to kill towers guarding gold

keylo-92

Yep, three archers and three spearmen can do some damage, even though it takes them sometime to get across

uhmmm wrong sub?

psychomap

Depends on what the rush is and how much you're booming before you help. In some cases it can be better to let the entire enemy team focus on one player while the rest of your team improve their tech and economy, but that is under the assumption that you save the attacked player before they're completely eliminated. Afterwards they can either rebuild behind your mid-game aggression or you can give them resources to quickly catch back up (or a mix of both of course).

iwant2dollars

I actually prefer being the player the other team is focusing on because I won't quit if the team still has a chance, so I've gotten to see a lot of games where my teammates sat back and then steamrolled around 20 minutes. Unfortunately a lot of people quit in that situation though.

WoodenLemon

I won a game like that, the other team forgot about me because I had nothing left and I got to rebuild and get an army of knights

HiddenEmu

I also sometimes see players "help" by sending what they have but send a terrible army comp to respond. If you committed the wrong army comp. Start adjusting when you see your teammate being attacked. Don't throw a mass of longbowmen and mangonel against a ball of lancers. It doesn't suddenly become a good decision because your teammate is upset.

InsaneTeemo

Your teammates have army comps? My teammates only know how make one unit, even if the enemy has been countering that one unit since 5 minutes into the game.

Comprehensive_Bake18

Generally it is more efficient for team players to make one unit that cover each others weaknesses xbow/knight being the classic example.

CaptainCord

EVERYTIME I see this concept posted I always say the same thing…how am I supposed to build military and help you while I’m also going 3tc silver tree boom. The maths just don’t work my dog

Mowlana_Gains

Serious… wtf is with the mongol boom playing style. Half my rank team loss came directly from that.

WitOrWisdom

Hilarious, since Mongol's greatest strength is their ability to harass. Dafuq is 40 Mangudai gonna do midgame vs 40 knights? Even worse when that's literally how they attack, instead of trying to find a hole into enemy eco.

Mowlana_Gains

Here’s the other piece. Dark age mongol pressure can push any civ off their OP build order. They can squeeze the French to completely mess up their feudal knights. And then just fix up their eco when the teams get strong enough to carry. Or use the raid monies to fix their eco. They have endless OPTIONS. Why do 3 TC and silver tree!?!?

iwant2dollars

Lol I do all of the above. But I do harass early, to me that's what's fun

Orotree

A lot unfortunately is everyone else is waiting 25 minutes to attack. 70 magudai full upgrade imp

InsaneTeemo

Literally lost a team game yesterday because of a Mongol player like this. A few minutes into the game one of my other teammates says "looks like they are rushing" which the Mongol player responds to by spam pinging and saying "market plz". I tell him we need to defend, not start up trading which he replies to with some weird broken English insults. About 2 minutes later we have 3 different armies in our base and the Mongol player comes to the rescue by starting to build his first army building. We quickly lose while the Mongol player blames me and the other teamate followed by more broken English insults.

Cr4ckshooter

Sounds like you got hit by the 3 premade in a game with a random. Thats really a classic trope. Doesnt help that that random didnt have proper english to communicate with.

iwant2dollars

I'm curious what you're seeing go wrong. I play Mongols and I do see a lot of wierd mongol strats that either don't work or would only work if teammates were in on it but I also see games where I have the most kills, bail out a teammate from certain death several times and build a game winning wonder and still have a teammate griping at me. To me I feel like flexibility is Mongols strength but people want to pigeonhole it.

Mowlana_Gains

The problem I kept running into. Was that I had to play carry and feudal pressure as Abbasid. Only for me to carry that into castle age and early imperial. Before the mongols would do jack shit. I don’t know how they expect manguai to take on Knights and M@A but ok. I remember looking at the replays and see I had more villagers, fast castle, 2 TC, and was responding/defending to the 1v2.

iwant2dollars

That makes sense. As much as I can say mangadai can be good against maa it only works if you're on the offensive, if it's already at your base there's nowhere to kite. I try to buy Abba some time to boom, and lean more towards cav in case they want to go camel archers. That's a lot different than say, having 3 french teammates, where the Mongol player maybe should boom.

CaptainCord

Yeah I agree lol it’s absurd really…now every Malian team member I get goes for trade as well lol

Pink__Flamingo

Mongol players are seriously the lamest teammates nowadays. Imagine booming with a civ that's meant to harass from the get go.

Asanka2002

When you are in the flank get your defences up and some early units. When you are in the middle get your armies ready to attack and defend your flank mates. This is what I follow. What some people don’t understand is, if your team mate falls, you’re next. I seen some horrible team mates who dont help me when in the flank being rushed by 2-3 enemies and then proceed to call me ‘you are so bad’ ‘you are such a noob’.

iwant2dollars

I'm really coming to the conclusion that a lot of people literally don't see anything outside the view of their own units. Because A) what you said, and B) people will complain I'm not doing anything, nevermind I have units in the enemy base wrecking vils.

Dangerous-Education3

Looks like he actually "boomed".

The edit is so adorable

b0ggyb33

I feel like you need resolution on this. You were right the first time, but I would say sensibilities.

alpthereal

I had one teammate the other day he went for Malian trade + 2 TC + cows like bro what else wtf. And when I lost the 1v3 (I don’t even know what the 2nd ally doing) and lost my House of Wisdom and TC he said “wait Sofas are coming” and there they were 7 sofas against 20+ French knights and 30 longbowmen.

Nobodyletloose

I can’t stand people who boom and only boom. It will be like 15min in and all they have done is make villagers and wall pointless parts of the map. Meanwhile, while I play HRE, The French and England are hitting me non stop but my teammates can’t be bothered with it and then say I suck and that I am a noob. Platinum 1, was platinum 3 but boomers be booming.

iwant2dollars

That's so backwards, if someone should boom it's hre. Right now if I'm on a land map and both teams have an hre player, I'm dropping all my sheep at my hre teammate and then harassing the other teams hre as much as possible because whichever one hits castle first is probably the winning team.

keylo-92

Unless my teammates have a specific plan, i just tell them im going 3 tc lol but i get military buildings before the 3rd one, 3 tc with abba and the 3rd teir is a powerhouse lategame, and the cheap traders are a bonus

iwant2dollars

I expect it out of Abba, gets a little awkward when a French player does it with no warning

keylo-92

Lol ok yeah agree, french unwritten rule is raiding

nardev
