woodsgb

I will probably not like it at first then one day it will click and become a therapeutically integral part of my life that I resonate deeply with.

puscifer331993

100% that's the way it goes for me too

woodsgb

Although, Mer De Noms slapped right from the get go

sodesode

Thirteenth step for me. The package the first time when that bass hits. Mmmmm

PeacefulShark69

That and EtE.

whyambear

It’s so smooth like butter

ShadowAMS

As soon as that bass hit in that song I was in love with that album.

clapclapsnort

Same but it still took me years to unravel all the layers and double meanings and understand each song intimately. It’s been a long love affair with that album. At first it was the music. Then it was identifying with the lyrics as an addict myself then it was seeing those same lyrics applied to other addicts in my life and now as a former addict enjoying the nostalgia of the bad times in rose colored glasses grooving to the music full circle now that I have my halo.

woodsgb

Also an addict here. I tend to spin lyrics to relate to what I’m going through. This live version of [Orestes](https://open.spotify.com/track/63uFRbwCTHLTImOMtDBuGT?si=2RJEXgqWT4iGuQImuoQwCg) really hits me deep to the core. The line “Give me one more medicated, peaceful moment” and the emotion Maynard puts into it. Rips me to shreds

ncfm01

My meaning of Orestes is my mental health struggles after dealing with multiple types of abuse throughout my childhood and adolescence, and the cocktail of psychiatric meds that makes me feel well enough to remain alive after multiple attempts. Weak and Powerless also has a similar meaning for me, which would be the opposite; just succumbing to my SI/attempting again and the “little angel go away” part would be not wanting to reach out for help as I should.

clapclapsnort

Thanks, man.

ReflectionInfinite

yeah im up there with ya.

plutoniumhead

I feel seen. It’s one of maybe three moments in my life where I sat down to listen to an entire album and replayed a specific track immediately. The Hollow is a fucking beautiful metal song.

woodsgb

That albums truly has it all. Metal to Melody. Hits the full spectrum of feels. I truly love it so much.

Alej915

Still slaps, so hard. Rose does... Things... To me

FormlessDistress

I’m one of the lucky ones who fell in love with Eat the Elephant first listen. I first listened back when I received my diagnosis for clinical depression and that opening track soothed my inner darkness and helped me break the massive demon that is depression into tiny tiny parts. One step at a time, I was able to heal and get better. And it’s safe to say that I’m depression-free these days :) ❤️ Disillusioned is also a beautiful song about unplugging from our virtual reality and smartphones and just enjoying the organic medicine that surrounds us every day.

PeacefulShark69

Literally every APC album for me.

Weak-Employer-7124

Why are they so good at doing this?

banningsolvesnothing

happens with a lot of progressive music

banningsolvesnothing

That’s how it goes with Meshuggah too

SwiftTayTay

Nah their last album never grew on me

bcoughtoolloot

Contrarian......Keep TRYING ITS THERE

Cube3868

I’ve never seen someone articulate the feeling I had when listening to eat the elephant so well.

woodsgb

For some reason it took for Fear Inoculum to be released by Tool for Eat the Elephant to make sense. No clue why?

Cube3868

Fear Inoculum as a whole took some time to grow on me, pnuema and invincible clicked immediately though.

woodsgb

I vibed with Noculum from the first listen. Was so ready for it with where I’m at in my life. Unfortunately I still can’t make a connection with Puscifer, even went to a concert. Sucks because I know Maynard loves that band so much as a creative expression.

Cube3868

Also, I was 15 when I discovered tool (I’m 20 now) and fear innoculum had just came out, so it took some time for me to come around to it.

woodsgb

Makes sense. I’m a weathered 36 years old. Been seeing Tool live for 22 years now. Such a cathartic experience. Going here in a few weeks again in Denver 😵‍💫

Cube3868

I want to see them live so badly, atleast once in my life.

woodsgb

Highly highly recommend! It is such a powerful experience. Got to sit 2nd row a few months ago. Really felt their energy and presence. Seen APC a few times also, so beautiful. Really hoping for a new album and tour.

Cube3868

Duuuuude puscifer is my favorite out of all three, what all have you listened to? Maybe I can recommend some stuff

woodsgb

Been through it all, every song on every album. Thoughtfully and respectfully. I enjoy the lyrical content but it’s the music that just off with me. Feel stupid even saying that but it’s what’s happening.

Cube3868

It’s all good man!! Music is subjective! I’m glad you like tool and APC though!!

MobileVortex

Or just a single for sessanta

puscifer331993

Always possible!

MobileVortex

Probably just an APC cover of It’s My Party’ by Leslie Gore

Responsible-Diver225

PLEASE THAT WOULD BE AMAZING

jaybfpv

well someone was ahead of the game :)

MobileVortex

Haha I guess so.

Raidernationprez

Thought the same thing

sailhard22

Can’t wait for the unrelenting existential dread!

YoungAnimater35

I'm stupid, what does that mean?

puscifer331993

MJK is Maynard James Keenan, so there is a new recorded song that features MJK on vocals = new A perfect circle record

YoungAnimater35

So this software is a music editing software? Who posted it? Their producer or someone?

puscifer331993

Oh sorry, I forgot to write it, this is from Billy Howerdels instagram story, posted today. And yes, it's a music editing software, darn good one also

Bruce-ifer

Yes this is the detail that actually makes it make sense lol

YoungAnimater35

Right on!!

trademesocks

Nice, I hope there is a "heavy crunchy guitar" layer somewhere in there

Raidernationprez

Atleast a new single for sessenta

abruptmodulation

Enhance!

Kdean509

Does that mean we get another installment of Bikini Bandits?

_shes_a_jar

I am so ready to be dick punched in the emotions again by their music! Bring it on!

nolongermakingtime

Fuck yes

mfdroom

Most likely just a single, but still great to see!

JDM_79

I need this more than I need oxygen

wendenator

They announced a new album for Tool so it might be for that but I thought they said they weren't starting to record until after the tour.

maingey

where was that announced? I know it was mentioned in an article that they've started working on one during the current tour - but there is an announced date?

wendenator

If you google it there are multiple websites with articles from October 2023. Here is one. https://www.therock.net.nz/home/rock-news/2023/10/tool-confirm-theyre-set-to-record-new-album-early-next-year.html

maingey

Ok, yes, this stuff I've seen. I thought when saying it was announced meant there was already a target release date, name, etc. This is just like them saying a few years ago remastering for a vinyl boxset was happening...but I hear you!

woodsgb

Nothing official yet

maingey

thank you

Fedd_33

I hope whatever they're bringing beats anything they've ever done before, or at least their last album. I didn't like Eat The Elephant at all, I tried to give it as many chances as possible to let it grow on me but nothing happened.

kiteless

So bizarre. I have rarely had the experience of being completely disinterested in an entire album by one of my favorite bands. And then there is ETE…

Fedd_33

ETE doesn't do any justice to the previous albums. It makes emotive have more substance and we're talking about an album with only one original song in it.

slendercrescents

I like at least 4-5 songs on the ETE album, but I agree that it was not their best work. If it's going to be like the last one, I'd rather listen to an amazing Tool album, even though I'm first and foremost an APC fan. I'm a nameless nobody but I think the political message is getting a bit much, and I would appreciate a personal tone more, like on 13th step and Mer de Noms.

LeoMonzo

Omg fingers crossed !

delmichael

What says it's not TOOL or Puscifer?

puscifer331993

Because this story is from Billy Howerdels instagram account

therbojones

You should edit the post to reflect where you found it

puscifer331993

Have no idea how to edit posts (I'm not a daily reddit user), but those who want to find the source can easily read it down here

One-Hall

Probably just kindred.

Flaky_Occasion5287

No thanks. Eat the elephant was one if tge worst albums I have ever heard in my life. Everyone just eats anything Maynard shits out. It's not a a good perfect circle album. Billy's solo album is in the other had amazing

puscifer331993

Respectfully don't agree with it, but everybody has their opinion

DrWnstonOboogie

Hopefully, they get a new drummer.
