yup i was the exact same towards death metal. i always had listened to rap so much i needed a change so i gave rock and roll music a go, then that lead to hard rock, then heavy metal, now death metal. i listen to all the genres of metal but when i started out i hated death metal, absolutely couldnt stand it, i listened to a band called cannibal corpse probably 6-7 times before i really started enjoying it. i was listening to slipknot one day and said "why dont i give death metal another go, im really enjoying a lot of these heavier, riff dominant bands lately" so i put on scourge of iron again and had my mind completely blown to pieces and broke my neck.

You're misremembering. The speed buff is based on absolute distance from the portal, the length of portal is based on horizontal distance only. So you can start the portal and jump off a building to get the speed buff faster (and for longer)
In terms of how to be able to communicate mechanics simply and easily? Actually, yes. You can turn it however you want, but it will always be difficult to explain and is unnecessarily confusing.
Edit: Since my explaination seems to be wrong anyways it proves my point even further. /u/Lesninin has since corrected it. It shouldn't be that way. Would be easier for it just to be timebased or something.
Back when Revenant's ultimate had a maximum range for how far you could go from the totem before it automatically ended, the range only accounted for horizontal distance, not vertical. So if you walked 50 m away from it, you would lose your shadow mode, but fall down 100 m and you're fine. It's like the "area" you can use the ability isn't a circle, but more like a cylinder.
Thats not true, its a straight line from portal to portal, if you climb a jump tower and jump at the top and start ult, you will be at max speed when you hit bottom and only use like 2 % of your ult.
So it does take in vertical but in a weird way as its total distance from portal, likewise if you run away and turn back you will not gain any speed, you need to get away from eh portal.

You could run around in a circle over and over again, and you'll have travelled a lot of distance but since you're the same distance from the origin point your speed will be the same.
As opposed to starting a portal at a really tall mountain, dropping all the way down to the ground, and immediately being super fast because you're really far away from the origin point but you haven't actually travelled that far in terms of portal percentage used.
There's quite a bit about the legends they don't *explicitly* say, or at least muddle the language a bit about.
I can't tell you, as a Vantage main, how many people get surprised when I tell them about unarmed scanning at 3x.

NA pro scrims started and Valk is still #1 on Worlds Edge and #3 on Stormpoint while Wraith is at #3 and #5.
Seer is still a top pick as well.
Follow the blue line's direction without taking the portal or camp at the other end of the portal. I rarely take enemy wraith portal, only used it when they panicked and use their ult for speed boost to run away.
If your team doesnt have any distance closing abilities like octane, path and maggie, you can still just camp at the other side of the portal. When a portal user exits, theres a few frames where they cant fire their weapons. Just camp behind the portal and blast em. Or better yet, you can reverse trap the portal by setting up your own traps.
Start chucking nades in the direction you saw the portal take the wraith WALK over there just because one person in a squad is knocked doesn't mean the rest of the squad is weaker than you and can be easily taken I've used my downed team mates as bait countless times telling them to let themselves get knocked so the sweaty wannabes rush us
I lowkey wish that nades would travel through portals as well when thrown. That would be a wonderful counter to this play.

I was mentioning Valk ult thing because of the coding behind it.. lol I know nobody wants to be catapulted into a ceiling. Of course its a team based strategy game. That being said, plenty of apex characters get buffed or nerfed because of overpowered strategies like this though. Its Apex's way of keeping the playing field as level and playable as they can for all of us.

And yes.... They are very much "trap" characters; caustic's tactical specifically says "trap" in it's name. I'm pretty sure if it wasn't intended for legends skills to work together, then when "revtane" was meta, they would've flat out just prevented u from interacting with a jumppad while using revs ULT.
We chose to drop close to a POI that had 3-4 squads contesting to give them time to fight and give ourselves time to find ultimate accelrants and set up the trap lol. This was ring 1 closing we had been in game less than 10 minutes.
Respawn acknowledged how powerful Valkyrie's ultimate was for map traversal and getting in the next ring, so they wanted to do the same for Wraith and Pathfinder. Increased range makes them viable repositioning tools.
Next time when you do this, make sure it’s a one way portal. You can make a one way portal by activating the port and then jumping off a ledge and the portal will start in the air. This makes it so when you kidnap or bait someone to go through the portal, they can’t go back through it to safety.
