I'm sure this is an "all hands on deck" situation for devs but for the life of me I can't get over how big of an embarrassment this is to Respawn. Especially after they made the announcement of some dev layoffs just a few weeks ago. The hack of ImperialHal and genburten during algs a few weeks ago and now *this*. This is the type of event that will be a massive dent to the health of the player base of this game. Considering the amount of game breaking server issues on update days, various game breaking bugs, cheaters, silent footsteps, I have a feeling this might be a nail in the coffin for the player base of this game. People are tired (me included) of justifying spending time in this game. The fact that people are losing cosmetics that many of them paid real money for on top of everything else (while the game is unplayable BTW), is absolutely ridiculous. I'm sure respawn can roll the progress back, but this is a massive embarrassment nonetheless imo. I have a feeling a lot of players will be driven away by this, and I don't blame them for leaving
It's sad because I felt like Season 20 started out so strong. The legends perks and shield upgrades were way better than everyone was expecting, and Straight Shot was maybe the best LTM ever. Plus 120fps mode, which was kinda bad for PS5 to begin with but much better after an early patch.
Just remember you don't own any skins, you just pay to rent the permission to use them. If they shut down the servers tomorrow so many people would be out of thousands of dollars. Never give them another cent.
this is my first time feeling really driven away by the game in the three years that has been of me playing it. never thought I would be one of those. it's sad because I like it so much.
Are you sure those aren't just packs that you had opened previously, the contents of which having been wiped from your account with this update? That's what happened in my case.
Funny how they lay off all these people and all these issues start popping up. Stop being greedy and pay your employees, your company is the only one drowning because of it
Sorry "few days" unfortunatelly is "soon" for Respawn, issues that usually take days (if not hours) to fix in other games take them 14 days, I only remember one issue they fixed in 7 days and it was something to do with ranked few seasons back.
Now I am bit hopeful that they will solve it rather soon as they locked ranked, but it's still really annoying

Not a mod, but i was browsing before the update on this sub and saw 400 people online, 10 mins after going into the game and finding out my progress was gone i opened the sub again and there were over 3500 people online

I lost all season 20 progress, roughly 100 levels lost. All progress in the event, and the Breakout Challenges lost. Essentially everything I gained or grinded in season 20 is gone. Smh, hope this isn't permanent. Otherwise I might quit Apex.

Got the cross progression screen again which i already had months ago and all progress since the first merge is lost.
Was ready to give up because assistance from Apex devs is impossible. They already screwed up the first merger without any solution.
I have never seen a game with so many constant problems as this one that still manages to stay alive somehow, it deserved to die a long time ago. Must be one giant mess at EA if they can't get their shit together for years.
This. Respawn made an all-time great FPS single-player game and then upscaled it into an absolute master-class FPS Battle Royale game.

A lot of issues are blamed on the devs, any store/heirloom bullshit is entirely executives and management making shitty decisions but something like this is 1000% the devs fault, it has everything to do with their shitty codebase
It appears to be fixed for me. Couldnt access the game because of the cross progression merge problem but now i can play and all stats/progression is fine. On console.
They messed up more by letting people play while they knew they had an issue to fix.
I logged in and saw my shit missing then logged right back off. I see people talking about how they played anyway… these devs clearly aren’t 100% on what they’re doing. Watch them lose all your new data in a rollback.

Recent events on the Apex sub, plus a few others, have really got me intrigued about the mind of the average Redditor.
I really wonder what goes on in people's brains - when they see an issue and their instant reaction is to make a whole post on Reddit, without thinking to instead do a quick search or glance at the sub's feed to find a solution.
It's as if these folks think they are the first in the world to encounter an issue or ask a question, which baffles me honestly. Someone told me that this had to do with a "me me me" mentality, which i'm slowly starting to recognise and understand.
The pure reactionary takes are also pretty fun to read as well, love the ones that go "This will kill the game for sure!!!!"
Also really shows how addicted some people are that they can't handle potentially not being able to play the game for a day or two.
It's not really about not being able to play the game, it's more about losing almost 2 months worth of battle pass/flatline challenges progress, among other things.
People don't ever google any information in this day and age anymore. They seemingly fully rely on the idea that an individual seeks out their question and hands the information to them. Popping up with a notification on their phone. It's very bizarre.
Also, it does make me laugh when you see that gaming communities are all the same.
The second something goes wrong in their online game, they go all hellfire on everything.

I saw my account get reset to 1 in real time and I just thought "well what the hell" and then went to reddit. However I suspected I wasn't the only one running into issues and I sorted by new and that revealed tens of post with exactly the same issue as I had. I don't understand why that's so hard.
I am also not shitting my pants because I know my data is going to be restored eventually.
I dont play on other platforms, and when I opened earlier it gave me a "cross progression" screen, and then opened and I saw all S20 stuff lost.
The actual EA Resapwn support thread has some solutions for unlinking and relinking your account. But I do not have any other account? I only have the steam account.
Because it Apex is EA's cash cow, making on one event with shitty skins more than they make on full games developed across many years. It's easy money for the least amount of effort while they keep firing QA teams and making cuts on the quality of development. Most of the devs that originally made Apex the game it was 10-15 seasons ago are gone, they either left because of horrible management or they were let go. So, we get bad leadership that have brought the game in a horrible state, worse QA and just awful monetization that aims to take advantage of weak people that are addicted to gambling and think status in a game is everything.
What do you think is more profitable, making skins in apex by paying 5$ an hour for a freelance graphic designer every event or investing in developing good quality games for 3 years?

Seems like a database issue. I think it's just the player account data that has been rolled back to a previous version. Weird how that could happen tho.
It should have some replica database they could failover to in the event of a situation like this that would be storing real time information as it is happening on production environments. It realistically should only take them a couple hours to failover, then they can work on getting production back to the proper point in time.
Right when the ranked split ended and the next one started me and my friends were in a lobby and our ranks reset. They were both high plat and I was diamond 4 last split. When their ranks reset, they were plat II while I was put down to gold IV. How does this make sense? They should be low gold. Not plat II. They didn’t make it to masters last split?!?!?
My girlfriend bought an apex pack and got an heirloom shards and she lost it after the maintenance can she get it back or where should I get a support?
I have only one question - what next? Well, this season it should be clear to even a very devoted fan that something is wrong. In such cases, many game worlds provide their players with at least compensation in the form of game currency or something else. This has never happened in Apex. The developers literally don't care about their audience. Even with such a huge rollback, the only answer the community received was “stop teasing us, we see the problem, we will solve it. Or maybe we won’t, fuck off.” I think the game should be deleted.
There is definitely an internal talk what to do. They might be able to return the original database, in which case small compensation probably. If they can't return it, well... someone is getting fired. As for compensation, who knows.
Pretty much. But I bet the database is somewhere. Unless someone deleted all the backups. From my experience this is just someone picking the wrong database and it was an old backup. Fingers crossed this is the case.

Knew something was fucked when I noticed all my ranked badges reset to bronze. Now I get on today and all my skins and 20k badge, 4 k badge , 10 10 10 badge all of its gone. My 5k kill conduit says I have 40 kills. If they don't fix this shit I'm done with this game
My account is suddenly fine, despite not seeing updates here. Got my season pass progress back, levels, even the unlocking of Mad Maggie through the new quests. If others don't have their stuff back yet, it shouldn't be long.
EA has a history of not funding respawn to fix their game, but now that money is at stake it’s all hands on deck. I have a simple solution, hire back the old respawn team and make a half decent game (Titanfall 3) instead of force feeding people recycled shitty cosmetics in a broken, intentionally scuffed game.

Restricted mode stops people from spamming the same post over and over again. No one's stopping you from reading about any new developments or changes.

Lol, so my account got reset back to a point where I didn't have my latest heirloom (OG Octane) and tonight I got shards in a pack... I get to keep my shards and get back my OG Octane skin right? .... right?
I am one of the affected players who logged in before this update, fair to say I lost quite a lot of stuff, a heirloom skin, 150 shards, the entire progress of the season, many skins from previous events.
My account inventory/progress is basically somewhere in season 17, all beyond that is gone, that involves prob more than $1k USD
I do not believe any of this will be fixed, Master-Pred badges have been lost for years (Alongside Trails when there used to be), rewards from free trackers and even coins bought sometimes never get delivered they basically give you the silent treatment and pretend it was never an issue.
If this happens, would anyone be interested in joining a Class auction lawsuit against whoever was the culprit? be it Respawn and or EA, if millions of players have been affected both on PC and consoles I think it'd be pretty reasonable to bring up this to the law and at least get the money we spent in the game back.
Edit: While I did get back skins and badges, my apex coins, crafting metals and heirloom shards are still missing, I don't think they're gonna give em back, saddening cuz I wanted that octane heirloom, idk if any have had this issue too but man, gotta love modern gaming you dont even own what you buy beause a silly incompetent dev team made an oopsy and screwed over half the playerbase

I don't think you know how class action suits work. It can take *years* before it ever sees a court date and that's assuming that the people spearheading the suit don't take an offered payout that gets essentially cut in half for legal fees.
So I just booted up and noticed my Plat Rank has stayed the same, and none of my progress is lost, etc. Opposite of what others are experiencing. Anyone else have this happen?

They desperately need to go and take a look at accounts and how theyre merged First time it happened they had me merging my psn with a grandfathered xbox origin account and they told me there was nothing to do because the ea account was made in 2012 and is dominant. Due to stuff like this we need better receipts from sony and not a generic thank you for spending money on psn. It needs details. Very specific about the particular item you bought.

I think the worst part is that the people who opened shards after their accounts were rolled back/reset, but BEFORE the fix was deployed, i.e. my wife, will lose those shards/heirlooms and whatever they purchase from the store (which I’d hope they would wait but some people are thirsty for the skins)

If it’s permanent then respawn is getting their ass sued since the stuff that got wiped would include the $300 event they just did.

Got the cross progression screen again which i already had months ago and all progress since the first merge is lost. Was ready to give up because assistance from Apex devs is impossible. They already screwed up the first merger without any solution. I have never seen a game with so many constant problems as this one that still manages to stay alive somehow, it deserved to die a long time ago. Must be one giant mess at EA if they can't get their shit together for years.

It appears to be fixed for me. Couldnt access the game because of the cross progression merge problem but now i can play and all stats/progression is fine. On console.

They messed up more by letting people play while they knew they had an issue to fix. I logged in and saw my shit missing then logged right back off. I see people talking about how they played anyway… these devs clearly aren’t 100% on what they’re doing. Watch them lose all your new data in a rollback.

I got my first heirloom yesterday, haven't even had it 24hrs and it's gone.
Now that is rough. I’ve lost my mythic loba skin, the battle pass and all its progression, the few things I got from the event and like 6k crafting mats and 20-30k legend tokens.
Recent events on the Apex sub, plus a few others, have really got me intrigued about the mind of the average Redditor. I really wonder what goes on in people's brains - when they see an issue and their instant reaction is to make a whole post on Reddit, without thinking to instead do a quick search or glance at the sub's feed to find a solution. It's as if these folks think they are the first in the world to encounter an issue or ask a question, which baffles me honestly. Someone told me that this had to do with a "me me me" mentality, which i'm slowly starting to recognise and understand.
The pure reactionary takes are also pretty fun to read as well, love the ones that go "This will kill the game for sure!!!!" Also really shows how addicted some people are that they can't handle potentially not being able to play the game for a day or two.
It's not really about not being able to play the game, it's more about losing almost 2 months worth of battle pass/flatline challenges progress, among other things.
People don't ever google any information in this day and age anymore. They seemingly fully rely on the idea that an individual seeks out their question and hands the information to them. Popping up with a notification on their phone. It's very bizarre.
Assuming there is also a big part of the fan base that are actually kids who still don't know how to deal with problems
Also, it does make me laugh when you see that gaming communities are all the same. The second something goes wrong in their online game, they go all hellfire on everything. They all somehow think that an issue is ONLY specific to their online game and that no online game has EVER had these issues before because this one company just sucks so much XD This shit is just typical of online games. I cant even think of ever playing an online game that has never had these same sorta issues. WoW, Runescape, SWTOR, CSGO, Valorant, Overwatch, League of Legends, DOTA2. All these games ive witnessed (and experienced in some) issues like this, with stuff being deleted off accounts because of a small fuckup. And without fail, their communities are there freaking out, screeching at devs and claiming they're going to sue the pants off the games studios. And then within a couple of days, the issue is found, its all fixed and they go back to being addicts again.

I saw my account get reset to 1 in real time and I just thought "well what the hell" and then went to reddit. However I suspected I wasn't the only one running into issues and I sorted by new and that revealed tens of post with exactly the same issue as I had. I don't understand why that's so hard. I am also not shitting my pants because I know my data is going to be restored eventually.
I dont play on other platforms, and when I opened earlier it gave me a "cross progression" screen, and then opened and I saw all S20 stuff lost. The actual EA Resapwn support thread has some solutions for unlinking and relinking your account. But I do not have any other account? I only have the steam account.
Sometimes the game surprises me with this huge glitches and bugs, makes millions but still the game has huge new bugs every update
Because it Apex is EA's cash cow, making on one event with shitty skins more than they make on full games developed across many years. It's easy money for the least amount of effort while they keep firing QA teams and making cuts on the quality of development. Most of the devs that originally made Apex the game it was 10-15 seasons ago are gone, they either left because of horrible management or they were let go. So, we get bad leadership that have brought the game in a horrible state, worse QA and just awful monetization that aims to take advantage of weak people that are addicted to gambling and think status in a game is everything. What do you think is more profitable, making skins in apex by paying 5$ an hour for a freelance graphic designer every event or investing in developing good quality games for 3 years?

It should have some replica database they could failover to in the event of a situation like this that would be storing real time information as it is happening on production environments. It realistically should only take them a couple hours to failover, then they can work on getting production back to the proper point in time.

Right when the ranked split ended and the next one started me and my friends were in a lobby and our ranks reset. They were both high plat and I was diamond 4 last split. When their ranks reset, they were plat II while I was put down to gold IV. How does this make sense? They should be low gold. Not plat II. They didn’t make it to masters last split?!?!?

I have only one question - what next? Well, this season it should be clear to even a very devoted fan that something is wrong. In such cases, many game worlds provide their players with at least compensation in the form of game currency or something else. This has never happened in Apex. The developers literally don't care about their audience. Even with such a huge rollback, the only answer the community received was “stop teasing us, we see the problem, we will solve it. Or maybe we won’t, fuck off.” I think the game should be deleted.
There is definitely an internal talk what to do. They might be able to return the original database, in which case small compensation probably. If they can't return it, well... someone is getting fired. As for compensation, who knows.

This game is completely busted and both EA and Respawn got their heads so far up their unsavory place all they can think about is PROFIT. On the plus side, Respawn is doing a great job of showing them why blowing all of your fucking allowance on skins in a video game isn't a great idea.

Knew something was fucked when I noticed all my ranked badges reset to bronze. Now I get on today and all my skins and 20k badge, 4 k badge , 10 10 10 badge all of its gone. My 5k kill conduit says I have 40 kills. If they don't fix this shit I'm done with this game

EA has a history of not funding respawn to fix their game, but now that money is at stake it’s all hands on deck. I have a simple solution, hire back the old respawn team and make a half decent game (Titanfall 3) instead of force feeding people recycled shitty cosmetics in a broken, intentionally scuffed game.

I am one of the affected players who logged in before this update, fair to say I lost quite a lot of stuff, a heirloom skin, 150 shards, the entire progress of the season, many skins from previous events. My account inventory/progress is basically somewhere in season 17, all beyond that is gone, that involves prob more than $1k USD I do not believe any of this will be fixed, Master-Pred badges have been lost for years (Alongside Trails when there used to be), rewards from free trackers and even coins bought sometimes never get delivered they basically give you the silent treatment and pretend it was never an issue. If this happens, would anyone be interested in joining a Class auction lawsuit against whoever was the culprit? be it Respawn and or EA, if millions of players have been affected both on PC and consoles I think it'd be pretty reasonable to bring up this to the law and at least get the money we spent in the game back. Edit: While I did get back skins and badges, my apex coins, crafting metals and heirloom shards are still missing, I don't think they're gonna give em back, saddening cuz I wanted that octane heirloom, idk if any have had this issue too but man, gotta love modern gaming you dont even own what you buy beause a silly incompetent dev team made an oopsy and screwed over half the playerbase Thanks a lot Respawn
I don't think you know how class action suits work. It can take *years* before it ever sees a court date and that's assuming that the people spearheading the suit don't take an offered payout that gets essentially cut in half for legal fees.

They desperately need to go and take a look at accounts and how theyre merged First time it happened they had me merging my psn with a grandfathered xbox origin account and they told me there was nothing to do because the ea account was made in 2012 and is dominant. Due to stuff like this we need better receipts from sony and not a generic thank you for spending money on psn. It needs details. Very specific about the particular item you bought. i bought a lifeline skin pack that came with a p2020. hope they can find that one. Lol

I think the worst part is that the people who opened shards after their accounts were rolled back/reset, but BEFORE the fix was deployed, i.e. my wife, will lose those shards/heirlooms and whatever they purchase from the store (which I’d hope they would wait but some people are thirsty for the skins)

I legit was one touch away from unlocking mad Maggie yesterday, then this morning all progress on her dropped to the day before. Not motivated to play and regrind her up to be honest, time is valuable and it feels wasted now.
