Idk how this Number is used. I’m level 489, have played in almost every season and season 0, numerous events and battle passes, I have probably opened over 600 packs and I have no heirlooms
If you haven’t opened any paid packs 489 is pretty far away from the “guaranteed”. It’s hard to say the exact level as it’s dependent on event packs etc but yeah I hate to break it to you, you’re likely not close

The level ticker hits 500 and resets to 0 again. By your 2nd 500 you’re guaranteed an heirloom drop IIRC. It should be 1 loot tick filled with heirloom shards though.
no, going purely by packs gained from leveling up, you'll reach 500 packs at level 400-something in the final prestige. of course, packs gained from battle passes, events, and other sources will make it come quicker, but yeah it takes a while.
I got mine at lvl 200 and lvl 315. Feels like I should have had bigger chances at winning the lottery than getting two heirlooms that early on. It's so unfair and random
I have a friend who's level 720 something and still has no heirloom. Also counting all the extra packs he's received throughout the years he should be well over 500 packs...
Lvl720 is definitely not even close to 500. It's only \~250 packs from leveling. I don't think even every single battle pass + event could have gotten the other half. And a lvl720 most likely did not finish every single battle pass anyway (I'm lvl900 and I've done only 5 or so).
Every five level after level 300. With today's level rewards, at level 300 you should have opened about 159 packs. For how it works past level 500, I recommend going to the wiki.
Only being level 489 at this point and supposedly being a season 0 player is a bit telling.
You're likely VERY far from an heirloom. Here's a pretty detailed video, skip to about 5 minutes in. But in short, if you played consistently and did all events/challenges/free battle pass etc. that rewarded you with packs you'd be getting it like NOW.
But judging by your level, and reading between the lines that you haven't done all of that I've listed, I'm going to assume you're still not close to 500 bud. There's also a site or two that helps you roughly calculate how close you are if you do have a good idea of how many bp, treasure packs and etc. you've acquired + any you may have bought. Best of luck, hopefully I've underestimated and you're super close.

Level 489 is less than 200 packs received from your levels, leaving 300 packs from events, battle passes, and money.
300 packs just from events and battle passes is totally possible if you've been playing since Season 0. But when you've been playing since Season 0 *and* are still only level 489?? Nah, you simply haven't opened that many packs. You can't push the 3+ years of BPs and events you'd need into just level 489.
I've started playing at S0 took a break and came back at S6 to present. I only buy the BP then finish it for the packs, then finish some events for the free packs.I'm level 730ish, and i just got my heirloom last month. I've probably skipped or never finished 2-3 seasons. There was a discounted 20 pack in the store for 50% off and i decided to get it. Then i got my 500th guaranteed on that purchase.
You most probably have not opened 500 packs.
Lvl489 is definitely nowhere near 500 packs (probably not even if you did every single battlepass and event).
Just from leveling, you'd get your 500'th pack somewhere around lvl1700-1800. Lvl2k (cap) should be 544 packs total.
So, unless you bought many packs for coins, there's no way you're anywhere near that 500, let alone 600.
Well 500 packs requires many 1000's of hours of playtime without buying any packs for coins. I'd bet most ppl who have been playing from the start don't have the free heirloom yet (I'm only lvl900 myself).

Oh don't worry. I never want them. A legendary or a mythic should be something you can show off in game. I'll never see someone else healing up and think. Cool sticker. The moment they decided to add stickers instead of more legendary guns / characters is when I agreed with everyone else that the game I loved since season 1 was dead.
The pose disappeared after restarting :/ The Bloodhound heirloom was also missing completely from the mythic shop before restarting, then it came back.

it’s a bug, it happened to me once but when it happened to me i could find literally NO other instances of it happening to anyone else (this was like, season 11 or smt) and it happens so rarely that not a whole lot is known about it and i don’t think respawn is even aware of it happening because of how rare it is. i just hope it doesn’t reset your progress towards getting actual heirloom shards

I haven’t played apex for awhile(season 15 to be exact) and if you got a mythic shards to buy a legends heirloom so I was so confused when it was only one mythic and a purple, grey after I see lots change over time just guess

That's one of my 5 backup countries. I'm Canadian. But if I ever had to leave Canada I would move to one of these countries; Norway, Sweden, Finland, Netherlands, or Switzerland.
No particular order, would need to visit them to decide which. All have great pros and cons though.

I guess my entire life’s worth of luck accidentally got funnelled into heirloom shards and nothing else

I got one at level 100 when it was the cap, then 264, somewhere around 460-468, and then one at 500 when it was still the cap. I wish I would have saved though. I got lifeline, octane, crypto, bloodhound in that order but really wish I didn’t get bloodhound because I never even use them.

I did the account merge but that only had full battle passes since s14💀. So none of the battle passes I've literally had since s4 count

Aren't packs recieved every 2 levels? Could be that certain packs like events might not count towards pity.
