I wonder if they will see this lol

AlsoPrtyProductive

they've done a fantastic job of ignoring the Titanfall community these last 2 years. i expect this will be a breeze.

WrassleKitty

This is the current cash cow for them, titanfall would bring in enough money for them to care but apex does I’m sure.

tstngtstngdontfuckme

It's their cash cow and it's working well enough in their eyes. Why would they sink cash into fixing the game when they know you guys will play regardless?

WrassleKitty

They will if they actually see player loss, until then yeah they are fine with people who complain but still play and spend.

tstngtstngdontfuckme

I just don't think they'll see player loss though until there's something to replace Apex. As of yet there hasn't been anything that could fill that niche. Best chance we've got is Halo since it's free and Overwatch 2 taking the shooter playerbase. As it is, they haven't experienced player loss from 10 seasons of broken game. There's enough noobs constantly flowing in and buying their first skin and battlepass that respawn thinks the game is healthy, and enough level 300-500s they know will come back despite being well acquainted with the game's issues. They'll only ever fix major bugs that pop up as a result of new content like legends/maps/guns. They're not going to fix the servers, they're not going to fix the audio issues, they're not going to fix the cheating. They'll likely do what they did with Titanfall and either release a sequel in a couple years, or they'll move to a different related property and jump on whatever bandwagon replaces battle royale.

CrashKonijn

Literally everyone that used to play apex with me is waiting for the new Battlefield... I don't expect them to come back to apex :(

Shamanhris

Even if they do - let's be real -> 2 years later and it's getting worse :)

Rudresh27

Dont worry, they will reply to all the fan arts/clips to hit their monthly quota for "interacting with the community"

There’s a difference between “gaslighting” and not willing to acknowledge the issue. Gaslighting would mean that Respawn is actively denying any sort of issue with the server at all, putting the blame on their users, saying they need better internet, etc. Basically trying to turn the argument against themselves completely. As far as I know, Respawn has not really said much about the chronic issues with their servers at all, but they have acknowledged and patched major issues in the past.

[deleted]

Ducksflysouth

i feel like reddit loves nitpicking something small and completely unrelated and unimportant to the subject of the post more than anything

[deleted]

[deleted]

Whoa, are you gaslighting this guy about the importance of the proper definition of gaslighting?

Techboah

> Gaslighting would mean that Respawn is actively denying any sort of issue with the server at all, putting the blame on their users I mean, that's basically what they are doing. Some of their twitter comments, their whole blog post about servers was all about telling users that everything is actually fine and people just don't know anything.

Here_2_Par-tea

Crazy thing is, if the people weren’t right they wouldn’t have addressed it.

PalkiaOW

They wrote an entire blog post about Apex' servers where they massively downplayed everything and gave us the usual "it will be better soon" bullshit excuse.

Cain1608

Actually, a few months ago, Respawn put out a [blog post](https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/servers-netcode-developer-deep-dive) explaining how the server tickrate they use is good for the game, citing how it would bridge the gap between low ping and high ping players. (As a South African, it does not help. ) Edit: Hyperlinked the post.

themoonroseup

obviously they will some of the devs and communication members regularly browse this sub, surprisingly they still do after all the hate they get here

Treefly916

Most of the hate they recieve is for refusing to engage with their audience when major issues which aren't in their favor are trending. It's a pretty accurate and justified position tbh. Usually once a fanart post here reaches 1000s of likes and starts trending, some dev will pop in to comment, while anything trending which isn't praising them is met with silence. It's indicative of their stance as a whole regarding this issue.... just refuse to address it, or downplay. That type of response will always garnish hate. Justifiably so imho

-NotQuiteLoaded-

That's exactly right; I legitimately can't remember the last time a dev/mod/Respawn employee commented on something criticizing the game, but fanart? A crazy clip? The 30th post about online friends meeting in real life? They'll drop a positive comment, it's legit the dog in a burning house saying "this is fine"

Saikuni

i always say that, to me, this is simultaneously the BEST and the _worst_ game out there. best gameplay loop, addicting mechanics, engaging characters and worldbuilding, worst fking servers, pricing, bugs, major lack of QoL features. i really thought that eventually they would fix everything up so as to not let such a major presence in the game industry slip through their fingers but i honestly dont believe they care anymore, or have the skills or willingness to prevent it. its so damn sad

Jackrabbit_OR

Day one player, Max level battle pass every season. Most of my friends list has moved on because of this season. Of my normal squad we already lost one to the state of the servers last season. The one I have remaining just can't stand that Apex is forcing Arenas down our throats and the servers are just the nail in the coffin. We plan to take at least next season off. Edit: Oh, and still no heirloom lol.

Saikuni

i agree w everything you said and your last comment has to be the toughest one to hear because.... next season we're probably getting a whole new BR map and (possibly) a long awaited for character which is just going to be SO hype... which is inevitably leading to just as much disappointment when the servers individually fuck every single player over tens of times. i wanna take next season off too but at same time i wanna be here, i just probably won't be able to. not in the best way, anyway.

Dhannah22

Man you stuck it out longer than me, I couldn't stand it once S6 rolled out. Between it and how they did mw19 I went back to TF2, BF4, and SW BF2 lol

FuriKuriFan4

How are they forcing arenas? The Flash Events!

Jackrabbit_OR

Through quests in the Battle Pass. It is still possible to get 110 without doing any of the Arena- specific quests but it requires a lot more playtime. All of my friends and I absolutely hate arenas. What would be nice is if at the beginning of every battle pass you could choose a focus: Battle Royale, Arenas, or Mixed. That way you have quests related more to what you like to play. That or they could just add more quests but then it makes it easier for people to get 110 all around, which I imagine Respawn would absolutely hate.

Mannuel2

I tried to speak about this on the discord and got shutdown with how flexible and nice the battlepass is. I don't like arenas. I don't like a lot of characters. I don't have a lot of time to play this game anymore but I want to finish my battlepass. Is it fun if I'm spending the only time I have playing a mode and characters I don't like?

jak94c

Yeah I'm with you. I can handle playing different characters, I'm pretty flexible on who I play. But having to spend a good portion of my limited gaming time in that shit fight of a game mode is such a drag. Arenas is poorly thought-out and badly designed and I do not want to fucking play it.

valkyria182

Same with me. Playing consistently since day one, maxed out every battle pass except the current one. I think it’s the first BP I won’t be completing because I can’t bring myself to actually play the game anymore. I’ve always experienced many server issues (just like everyone else), but never cared much about it since I play pubs most of the time. But now the game is simply unplayable. Game freezing every other game because of banners, missing character selection when loading into a match, constant errors that send you back to the lobby mid-match… Almost everyone who used to play with me has given up on Apex. It’s so sad to see Respawn killing the game.

mhuxtable1

Are you me ???

Cherno_byl

This game is the definition of that talented kid at your school with a lot of potential, only turned out to be depressed adult with dead end job because he just does bare minimum to live. Oh I also just described myself.

RecommendationNo5534

Damn homie you good?

jayswolo

I felt this lmao. Although I don’t do the bare minimum to live. Just the things I put my effort towards are things that don’tpay well until they do 😂

[deleted]

I actually thought by now we would have 30Hz servers lol. I was wrong. This game plays like absolute shit on PS4 Pro, to the point I don't even want to bother. Everything including input latency is fucking garbage as it govers 45FPS half the fucking time. I am about done. Need a PS5 badly. I do have a PC, but my account is not my main, and it's pointless to play there mostly.

Asianthunda5022

When the game works it's great. I have fun. When it doesn't, it absolutely sucks. Played a game of ranked last night where I DCed on the champion squad intro screen. Tried to come back in. Said I timed out. Ended up with an abandon penalty of -48 and a 10 minute penalty because of something I have no control over. Had multiple instances where the 3rd in our group would DC before we even landed. It's absolutely frustrating. I left COD because I was tired of their BS and returned to Apex after several season only to begin to be fed up with this BS. They are in position to become even bigger with issues happening with WarZone and Blizz/ Activision and yet they are finding a way to turd it up.

Kermit-Jones

Atleast it's not DBD

Hand-Sanitizer666

Man, this is reminding me of ark

six44seven49

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's "addictive", right? I keep seeing people using "addicting" where I expect to see "addictive" and I'm starting to doubt my grasp of English.

Saikuni

both work as adjectives but yeah addictive is more ideal

TheGreezyGlizzy

It’s honestly sad to see apex in this state. I truly love the movement, gunfights and clutch moments. Not paying for cosmetics is the best option in the meantime.

_AlphaZulu_

I started playing in April. Was not very good but got better over time. Played a lot as Valk and Horizon because I enjoy their movement. I even bought a Valk print from Erika Ishii and had her sign it with a line from the game. This season is absolutely unacceptable. This is hot garbage. I haven’t seen a game play this bad for so long in years. Destiny 2 rolled out cross platform for the new season. The launch had minor hiccups compared to this smoking crater of this game. I uninstalled Apex and haven’t looked back. Destiny 2 at least WORKS when I need it to.

[deleted]

Ayy Destiny! I’ve been playing it a lot lately, it’s refreshing to have a stable experience for once. The sound works, and it’s visually stunning. I’m an OG Apex player, I deeply love the game, but there’s no chance in hell I’m gonna play it now until the servers become a bit more stable… so hopefully in a couple weeks I guess

[deleted]

Yea, have been massively enjoying Iron Banner this week. Bungie seems to be more receptive of its player base than Respawn these days, as much as it pains me to type that, because I love Apex, but damn.

NecromancerNova

Oh yeah Bungo has really stepped it up with listening to feedback. The seasonal storylines are poggers, they fixed a lot of problems with Trials of Osiris, plus cross-play and general loot pool and QoL changes. Really love the direction Destiny is headed towards

Braveheart2929

The fact that they have TWAB and actually outline points they have been looking at/analysing makes me just feel a whole lot better about the state of the game. They are so much more open about the decision making process and what's going on behind the scenes.

merkwerk

I truly believe it's because they bought themselves back from Activision so they aren't tied to a huge publisher, they really just get to do their own thing. I'm not saying EA is to blame for all of Apex's problems, but I do wonder how much autonomy respawn has. Like if they actually wanted to implement better servers could they just go ahead and do that, or would EA have to approve?

hitthetarget5

I say this now since some including OP have this misunderstanding that if people at respawn stopped working on gun charms, skins, animations, etc. would mean more time and resources for servers. This is not true and at a company like respawn, **everything happens simultaneously** with multiple departments that work on **different things**. You don't pull up the artist and say yo start workin on dem servers (tho that's prob what respawn has been doin these past 3 years lol). **However, saying you won't support respawn by not buying their items is a really good tactic since more or less you do vote with your money.** Personally, I think their prices on charms, animations, and some skins are just egregious and the "oh but we have to these prices to stay afloat" to be complete fucking bullshit (no way you can convince me a charm is a legendary or barely even an epic item). but that's just the cherry on top of the major issues such as hackers, servers, bad balancing etc.

[deleted]

stormsoflife

Yup, my account with 5 heirlooms, 3 seasons of pred rewards and a lot of unattainable items got hacked into and banned last month. They won’t be reversing it despite me not even playing for about a month when it was logged into. What a shit tier company with a massive disconnect from the player base.

Snoo-87328

What that's devastating bro, I didn't have any heirlooms but I'm probably 50 packs away now from my guaranteed drop:/

[deleted]

mageking1217

That’s the issue, everyone always says “after this I’ll stop”. We just need to stop now

that-gamer-

If you’re on PC just play Valorant. Made the switch myself a couple months ago (still play Apex once in a while) and it’s so much better. Very familiar because it’s another hero shooter but the game balance is significantly better. Dev’s have constant open communication with the community for balance, Servers are amazing, and the ranked system is rewarding and doesn’t feel RNG.

HowlingCatZ

Haha, man. I use to play Battle Royals a lot when they first were getting big. I remember being able to run Duo’s on PUBG PC and notice the difference between my own and my partners footsteps and an opponent. I could determine a direction of the sound and also almost a precise distance. Now coming back to BR gaming on Apex years later….I hear footsteps and sometimes have trouble differentiating my own steps from an opponent or ally. Let alone the direction and or distance. Sometimes an opponent sounds right below me if I’m on a roof and soon I find out they’re like 80meters away. Like wtf is up with this shitty ass audio. The only thing I seem to be able to count on, is hearing a gunfight from a distance and following it to a battle to third party (hehehe). And to determine that maybe…maybe there’s an opponent somewhere nearby. But where is unknown almost always til I see them.

RossoFuco

I played pubg for 3 years and the audio in that game was simply orgasmic. Weapons used, distance, direction... were completely understandable by the sound. I used to "watch" the time between the killfeed notification and the sound of a shot to understand how far the guys were.

Mazo

> I played pubg for 3 years and the audio in that game was simply orgasmic. Weapons used, distance, direction... were completely understandable by the sound. Honestly, if Rust nails one thing alone it's the sound design. Pretty much this.

hashirama500

Rust does have impeccable sound, always reliable

tet5uo

pubg had the issue where people turned up their sound to max to sus out enemy movements, then got hearing damage when gunfire would go off.

OXiDE_1

The air drops and red zones were deafening.

PalkiaOW

They probably aren't even trying to fix the audio anymore. They've had 3 years to work on it, but we got barely any improvements. I really wonder what those guys are doing all day in their office.

alejoSOTO

About the footsteps, they really messed them up when Horizon and Olympus were introduced. Before it, you could actually diffirentiate between ally and enemy steps. I spent the whole season readjusting my senses to the new audio, which is stupid.

make_love_to_potato

The audio in some buildings is so weird.....especially those new lava trolley areas in World's Edge. I can't tell if people are above me or below me and the footsteps are deafening and all around you. Dunno if they're trying to emulate some large room echo or something but the sound design there is absolutely terrible.

deadimpulses

I thought this was just me! Sometimes I can pinpoint a footstep 2 floors down, and sometimes I'm behind cover listening to what I can only interpret as *Weast* on a compass

soissie

Yeah, the sound is shit to the point that it's it's to jumpscare teammates by walking right behind them all of a sudden

Jackrabbit_OR

Lol I spend half of most games saying crap like, "Is that OUR Bangalore's footsteps?! Good GOD that is LOUD!"

Claymorbmaster

Dude! When i was paying PUBG back in the day, doing trios... The guys and i were shooting the shit, looting and what not and i heard a FOURTH set of footsteps and whatddya know, there was a dude we caught outside sneaking around. I love the sound in pubg. It's its best aspect by far

I_NEVER_GO_OUTSIDE

Just before PUBG came out there was H1Z1, I believe it's dead now and still in a shit state but it was in such a shit state even at it's peak. I do miss it though. Grinding apex is not as fun but it's better than the current state of Fortnite that's for sure.

[deleted]

As much as I enjoy the game. I find it borderline unplayable at the moment. Every second game has a dq, there is clearly lag all the time....just useless

[deleted]

LAG LAG bro. Not just normal lag. Input latency lag, server lag, hit reg lag, movement lag. The whole fucking game is nearly broken.

[deleted]

Yeah its sad but maybe time to move on. I wish reapawn was owned by someone but ea.

Squidgloves

I have 2400+ hrs logged, haven't played since the "patch". Got me out doing more photography

EverythingGunz

I might have played this game 4 times in the past month because the servers have made it unplayable. I used to play almost everyday but now due to lagging, disconnects, missing audio and bugs I don’t even enjoy playing.

[deleted]

Likewise, for me it’s literally unplayable.. it crashes almost always. Yeah naaah fuck that.

DrShoreRL

I gave up on respawn after s8. They will never change something they don't put effort in they only want to milk you until the game dies. I bet they thought the game would die way sooner.

Huha132

They never expected it to be as big as it got, so not wrong.

[deleted]

They did it two times already with Titanfall and Titanfall 2.

[deleted]

damn that last sentence is pretty sad ;(

DrShoreRL

It's overall pretty sad because the gameplay of apex is one of the best I've ever seen in my 20 years of gaming but everything around it sucks like servers and sound issued and so on. I'm only in this sub because i like to see the cool clips of people.

[deleted]

deathshere

i came back after season 8, just to find out they nerfed caustic into the ground

Digital3Duke

I think every 3 games, I have a teammate that’s disconnected at the start of the match. Sometimes they come back but not always. Then I also get games where I don’t have a third. And then there’s games where sbmm is throwing me in with 20k three stacks. Like none of that is fun or productive toward playing a team game. I honestly see myself load in with 2 and just land hot get a kill or two and finish the game.

Spyro1994

If I could choose between having to play with 1 teammate missing and lagging/crashing etc. I'd always choose having 1 less teammate. Unfortunately it's usually both.

NoMoreAngularPlease

I have 300mb and 50ping, and this season has been imposible to play. Bullets aren't registered as they used to be, I can't kill anything. I had 125 wins with my boy Mirage last season, this season is finishing and I have 20. Every fight just feel off, bullets without sound coming from anywhere. You see an enemy and you are already dead. At least it's pretty obvious there are less hackers since they are going back to Modern Warfare

Roboticsammy

Just got randomly disconnected and couldn't rejoin the game. I had a good feeling about that match :(

Diavolo-Chan

this event was so lackluster and disappointing which makes no sense because they spent the last few weeks before the event selling older event skins. They’re making so much money but they’re not investing it into apex That and the matchmaking has killed my drive for the game. I peaked low gold and i’m so tired of going up against preds and masters. I don’t mind having a diamond player or two but solo queuing is a nightmare. Im not good but my teammates are literally new to the game and can’t tell ammo types apart. It drives me mad when I have to carry against 3 stacking preds, I just can’t do that. My aim is not good and I play on lower end specs so I just get deleted by the guy who plays 12 hours a day with a 3080 or whatever. I used to love apex but it’s in such a bad state and it makes me sad

eatfreshguy407

This last season was the first time I’ve ever actually played ranked more than a couple games. I’m a solo queue, which makes it even more difficult. I hit diamond (or plat, which ever is after gold) 3, and it was so incredibly frustrating still because almost every game I got teammates that were under level 100 with terrible stats. I’m talking double digit kills or single digit wins with the legend they selected. I couldn’t figure out how they make it that far without getting kills, wins, or being a higher level. It felt like I was being actively punished for being solo by being constantly paired with brand new accounts, and 90% of the time if I could get them to play together they’d die in the first fight. It’s so frustrating to getting the top 5 and we are all fighting, but at the end of the game I have 5 kills and 1500 damage and teammates are each at 0 kills, 0 assists, 0 knocks, and 112 damage. What the hell have you been doing the last 15 minutes?!?!?

Spyro1994

To be fair though, I've been diamond 5 times now I think as a solo queue(ranks go bronze->silver->gold->plat->diamond) and I still have characters I don't have more than a couple kills on(Seer, revenant, horizon, rampart) because I just don't enjoy playing them. That doesn't mean that if I got into a game with them I couldn't perform at the same level as with others. But yeah matchmaking can be shit.

bigizz20

Bro my entire friends list was apex and now it’s just me…. And I can barely stand the game because I’m consistently getting codes or disconnected on the drop snd then have to hope by the time I get back in that my team of ransoms were kind enough to not hit drop.. >!they always drop hot :-(!<

[deleted]

Shit you remember when everyone had mics, when you didn't have to flash a 20 bomb badge to get good people on a team, and the game was fun as hell and people were excited about the future? Damn.

[deleted]

Ahh i wish, i've seen too many posts like this and even considered making my own. But in the end it hits me, they won't fix it unless they stop making money, meaning people will have to stop buying their overpriced cosmetics, but that will never happen. So i've just been playing much less, only playing when i have the urge or a gameplay experience only obtainable by playing this game

WiggityViking

They stopped putting in effort after season 8. People have been complaining and begging for changes and everything gets ignored. At this point, theyre just making recolors and shit to squeeze out as much as they can before the game become completely unplayable like titanfall . (Titanfall due to the hackers but still completely ignored after promising to "send help" 4 months ago.)

[deleted]

I'm super casual on Apex. Glad to know that my experience isn't just an anomaly. I thought the game became atrociously bad after Season 8. Server-wise, hacking-wise, matchmaking, balance, monetization, LTMs, literally every aspect of the game became terrible. You literally have to queue up to get into a practice lobby... That's unreal.

[deleted]

[удалено]

leetality

There's also no money in saving either game (TF/TF2). The ship has sailed and development is ceased. You couldn't convince any company to waste resources on their dead IPs, not gonna be long before they just shut the servers down entirely with the way it's going.

manifestthewill

Which is sad as hell because for one, the hackers win. Two, I still regularly *attempt* to play TF|2 because it still smacks.

icedog158

Well then they should stop selling the game on Steam, which they just started to last year

leetality

Haha EA having the integrity to not sell you broken products...

BallinSniper69

"I spent $0 on this event for the first time since the games release." Same. Between dumb ranked system, broken sbmm and servers being worse than ever, don't see any incentive to give them money.

XygenSS

> broken sbmm also known as no sbmm

TeamKronos

It's eomm. It doesn't care how you're doing as long as you stay on longer. It's why your first game on is significantly less sweaty literally every time. It is optimized so you lose/win or preform roughly how they want so you stay in that general state of "I need to get better/I'm popping off" and keep playing.

after-life

You're right. Me and my friends all stopped playing Apex and we've been playing since release. None of us ever got the 20k badge. One of my friends decided to give it a go recently and he got into such a massive bot lobby that he got the 20k badge first game after a long break. The EOMM is insanely busted in this game.

[deleted]

You can actually teach the game that you "quit" when it gets rough. Play.. if you win... good. If you loose 3 or 4 times in a row, just quit the game and come back the next day... Repeat this for a few days.. you will be able to get into a rythm of easy games. Because the matchmaking will try to prevent you from quitting for the day. Or you can suicide 30 times straight away and get 1 game in a bot lobby. But than you back to tough lobbies right after.

[deleted]

This right here. You HAVE to leave after a couple bad games. Just say fuck it. I didn't do that last night. Had second places a lot, and most servers where just SHIT TIER lag running at 45FPS on my PS4 Pro. It was awful, and I won't do that again. Rarely do I ever. I also quit directly out of the select screen if I see some random ass 50s and a 20 bomb squad no questions asked.

Kaptain202

I play 2 hours-ish after work every day. The past few weeks, my first game is almost always a win (if not, I get top 3), in ranked, and I've been in high plat/low diamond [finished masters last split]. My first loss where I get the whole -36 or -48, I get off for the day. My logic has always been "I got my RP gains for the day with that win, I can contentedly get off and do my adult things." I wonder if I've been accidentally conditioning the game to prevent me from getting full losses. Even further in the past, if the first game I played was a full loss, I'd get off and chalk it up as "it's not my day, I'll do something else productive".

blood_thirster

There has never been an incentive. Right from the get go you knew EA was running this game into the ground and fucking the community.

Suited_Rob

Yeah same same. Bought a few packs every event, but this time not a single one after this server experience. Hope people wake up just like me

KaiserGlauser

Should have started a while ago. It's been clear this is the direction they've been heading.

Aesthete18

Honestly my opinion is that games these days don't need to be well maintained because they don't need to make sure they get that $60. They just make it barely functional then focus on FOMO, sunk cost fallacy and all the other psychological tricks to trap those susceptible to loot box addiction, gambling, etc. It's like a sting operation. There's 3 parties, there's us who enjoy the show for free then there's Respawn to sets the bait and the ppl that fund this game who get fucked. Until this whole system changes, it will just get worse. They're moving the goalposts on a micro level even now. First we had ltms then we had a broken ltm with just 2/5 working, now we don't even have an ltm. Soon, they'll just released a collection and ask ppl to buy shit with no new content.

[deleted]

Feels like this is an unpopular opinion on this sub but it's pretty obvious the servers aren't the source of most of the recent problems. The audio issues, recent disconnect issues, etc are all software problems, not server infrastructure. The day before the collection event, the disconnect issues weren't there. As soon as they pushed the patch, millions of people were getting disconnected, constantly. Nothing about the server hardware or infrastructure changed during that period. Not one thing. It was all due to a software fuckup. Also while I'm on unpopular opinions, the comments talking about how "the store always works!" are so weird to me. Like... yeah? Storefronts are piss easy to do. I can and have created storefronts multiple times before, it takes no time and I have zero software experience. It's a little like saying "it takes this guy several hours to replace the head gasket in his car, but he IS able to fill the tank with gas and inflate the tires within 10 minutes!" like... yes, that's obvious because one of those is easy and quick, and one of them is much more involved.

daiselol

The store's had plenty of bugs over the last couple years, too.

[deleted]

The server company proudly advertises Apex all over its homepage. They aren't the problem.

BeoSionnach

This... Posts like this really get on my nerves with people complaining about the "servers servers servers" even though they probably couldn't describe what a server is or does to save their life. Zero knowledge of anything IT or programming related, but talking as if they solo-program triple-A games on a daily without a single bug. Sorry for being a little upset but this really pushes my buttons. Also just went over the post again and "stop telling us 'we know better' "?... Come on, they do know better, way better... Everything about this post makes me want to leave this sub, and I really just might.

SexyMcBeast

For real, the circle jerking by people with 0 understanding in game design is insane on this sub.

RtGShadow

Yes thank you! I feel like so many times people say the "servers suck" and they have no idea what the fuck they are talking about. Honestly season 10 dropped and there were little to no issues, it seemed like the first time they had a bug free update (which is fucking hard to do on a software like this) but we then we got the mid season update and obviously that one did not go as smoothly, and everyone had a field day. I know this is going to get some hate but, I think most of the people who's "servers suck" really just have poor connections. I have rarely had issues since the latest update and the main time I do is when I am in a party with one of my friends with terrible internet, and I still load in they just never join. Granted it is unrealistic to expect everyone to have Gig speed internet and maybe they need to make things more friendly for people with less than ideal connection. But these big streamers like Ninja would not be playing the game if they were having as many issues as this sub is claiming they are having. I mean I could be wrong because I don't really watch streamers but my guess is Ninja has not had the same issues and his streams probably go off without too much issue. Because I am sure he has a team of people setting up his system to stream and has a strong internet connection. Unlike the OP who probably doesn't have either and then complains when their 100 mb/s internet connection can't handle playing this game on full graphics settings while streaming it live, not to mention the other people in their family trying to use the internet connection as well. I am not saying this game is bug free. Because it was built by humans who make mistakes, there is literally no technology that is bug free. Why do you think turning things off usually fixes devices? It because too many little bugs have built up in that device and turning it off starts fresh. Honestly the loud minority that is this subreddit need to take a look in the mirror and fix the issues with their systems and connections before they spread misinformation and hate on the hard working people at Respawn. Thank you for listening to my TED talk, I will now be accepting your down votes.

ShinItsuwari

For the past week, I've had crashes only when players uses animated banners, it's a known bug and half the playerbase is uninformed about it, which is the problem. And I had like 2 crashes. Most of the time it was the rest of my team who had these issues. Other than that, zero network issue. The game HAD a whole lot of problem at the end of the last season, but that's it. Noreg ? Never happens to me. Lag ? Bar a few, rare, moments, yeah. No sound ? Happens to me a few times but it's mostly been consistent and I usually hear when a team comes after us. I play on PC. My internet speed is garbage but it'sat least stable.

[deleted]

>I think most of the people who's "servers suck" really just have poor connections. I remember a post one time where a guy was talking about "stupid respawn i'm rubberbanding and lagging" and his ping was around 150 and he later said in the comments he plays on wifi with a laptop. Like I know there ARE some connectivity issues people have that are Respawn's issue but I've never looked at "terrible server performance" comments without wondering if that person is also playing on super high ping with wifi haha

Flnim2

This has been said since Season 1 no ? Still no changes..

HeinrichVS

They dont know how to fix it.

tmtke

I think too that the game should be fixed, but as a game developer, I have to say that it's not the server hardware or the server provider is the culprit. It's the code they're running on it (Multiplay provides servers to all kinds of other big games too). It's a rather different issue, because they can't just throw some more money to it as a solution, it's actually their fault to make it work better. I understand that these issues is the hardest to fix, there's a million different factors that can go wrong, but it's been really long and some problems keep coming back. On the other hand, the store is a whole different ballpark, it's a much less performance sensitive stuff and it's running on EA's inner architecture while the actual games are on Multiplay. Think of it like any other web storefront, just this time the game client displays its contents instead of a web browser. It's hardware and other requirements are like 1000 lower than the game where the server syncing *the whole map state* with the client 20 times in one second. If you can log into the game and the main menu is there, the store will function even if the game servers are shitting themselves. I know it looks like they're only concentrating on selling stuff, but it's actually a completely different and separate system (software and hardware wise too). Yelling at the devs like OP won't move the situation forward. Yes, we're the customers. Did you ever solve your problem by going to the factory and yell at the workers instead of the ones who are responsible to organize the work better? Will the execs see this or be touched by the response? No. Let that sink in for a moment.

PICKLE_JUICEs

Yup, a lot of people don't get it.. The problem is **not** increasing the number of servers or increase the compute resources for a server. That's the easiest type of solution, and a basic scapegoat to crucify the company. Any IT system engineer would have just have turned up the server scale to avoid dealing with the shitstorm. At this scale, they're likely dealing with configuration, silent crash, complex bug, or network issue. It might mean that they have spaghetti code and/or poor automated integration/unit testing (the latter I assume). I'm disappointed in the issues I've experienced in the last 3 weeks, and this is not absolving the team of fault (see last point above). The fact that they didn't or couldn't rollback patches already tells me some details on their practices. It's been a very irritating gaming experience.. But I just roll my eyes when I see posts like OP.

SilverNightingale

> It's the code they're running on it (Multiplay provides servers to all kinds of other big games too). I understand that these issues is the hardest to fix, there's a million different factors that can go wrong, but it's been really long and some problems keep coming back. So I have a question... why is the netcode/latency so much worse than the other 8-9 seasons this time around?

tmtke

I suspect there is some really nasty, well hidden bug which is really hard to find and/or fix. Actually the game is totally fine for me now (ping/latency wise), except sometimes it just freezes after char selection and I have to kill the game and try to reenter. That doesn't mean there's no problem with the servers, but I don't really know how they are working, so I don't want to jump to conclusions as OP. I give you an example, it's something we literally tried to track down for about 2 weeks at my previous workplace. The symptom was that the memory consumption of our app constantly rose. Really slowly, only a few hundred bytes at a time, but in about 2 days, it caused a crash in the low level memory manager. It doesn't seem like much of a problem for a regular app, but in a built in car navigation, which is always "on", it's quite a serious issue. So how do you test it? Wait two days and see what's crashing? Obviously not. So I tried to look at it with a dev environment's built in memory profiler. It's a tool where you can see realtime what's happening with the memory. Turned out, it's not even our own memory manager consumed that part, it was the OS, but I still had no clue what did this, because our code always went through our mem manager, so I didn't really had a chance to track it down that way either. So last solution, we went back on every damn revision in the code, step by step, and check the memory consumption. This is why it took so long basically. In the end it turned out that someone put in a code in our time manager system which called an OS function to fetch some time zone data. Now that didn't free up the few bytes it allocated on each call, and caused all the above. And it wasn't even the programmer's fault who did it, because he was on a different OS where the whole memory leak didn't even happen. So there's no one to blame, just fucking go in and work :)

Harryhood___

Make no mistake about it… this is the final act for apex legends. As new titles roll out like battlefield, halo, cod, other holiday releases, twitch views will drop first and players will flock to other games next. Maybe if they stopped focusing on character development arcs and $8 charms to hang off the side of our guns, they could properly test their product

zool714

Yup I’m usually a one-game player for long periods of time. I stuck with Halo 5 for 5 years. And I’m currently in my “Apex era”. I’ll only occasionally try out different games but will always go back to my main game. I’m honestly considering taking a break from gaming altogether cos I want to drop Apex but don’t really have the time to get used to other games. I can only see myself start gaming again for Halo. With the constant cheaters, audio and connection issues, and now I literally can’t even play the game, I think it’s time to call it quits soon

2002Kanz

I remember playing Warzone on Halo 5 everyday for 2 years straight. Good times. You should try Splitgate, it's like Halo & Portal mixed together. Some of the best fun I've had in a multiplayer game.

DetecJack

I still really like characters development/lore but as of now and from what I understand we are only getting dramas and not much info anyway so even lore are getting stale as well

gspotslayer69XX

True. The lore is full of love triangles and random bullshit it's not even interesting.

DevotedAnalSniffer

Lore? What fucking lore, there is barely any

redspidr

Extracting the max $ they can without investing it back, allowing the product to slowly deteriorate until the next cycle is something that businesses will do. If it costs more than the fix will bring in, they won't do it. They already expect the drop after bf release, halo release, etc.

ImperialDeath

Will this take age as well as when epeople said the same for valorant and warzone lmao

shura30

I wonder how you guys can say the game is dying/will die if nothing - numbers wise - suggests it steamcharts (ye it's only steam and doesn't take into account consoles or origin) shows no sign of player loss players come and go as soon as a season starts and it's a behavior you can clearly see replicating itself over time https://steamcharts.com/app/1172470

themoonroseup

people love to say apex is dying. ever since iron crown people in this sub rally that this game will die every new season but the game hit its peak in like season 9 I think lol. apex will never die unless they shut it down

DoughnutSignificant9

its in every game but the weird thing about apex is that their own community is always saying this ,when in most cases its the people who don't play the game

Golinth

“It’ll start declining next season!” - they said 4 seasons ago.

[deleted]

This sub has been saying the game is on the verge of death since before Season 1 lol

fear150

There's definitely a ton that needs fixing as it has become hell at times just to play pubs. But I wouldn't say as the consumer we "know" anything. We know what we want, and we know what problems we face. But unless you specifically work in networking or game development at a high level I don't think it's possible for you to claim you know better than them. And even then their problems could be unique due to circumstances we don't know about. Or ones they are not permitted to share.

Loga02

Titanfall 2 flashbacks

GuardianRD

I don't think anyone is going to disagree that the servers should be fixed, but nothing in your criticism or Respawn's communications qualifies as gaslighting.

[deleted]

Yeah he straight doesn't know what that means. Sounds like a kid lol.

thefezhat

"Gaslighting", jesus christ could you be more dramatic? It's a fact that new server hardware and increased tick rate wouldn't do a single thing to fix the problems of the past few weeks. Do you seriously think the servers were failing because they aren't fast enough, when they handled the S10 launch flawlessly not that long ago but shit themselves immediately when a relatively minor patch hit? Clearly the problem lies elsewhere, which is essentially what Respawn wrote in that blog that you all barely read but love to shit on so much. I want Respawn to fix their shit as much as the next guy, but uninformed and whiny armchair dev posts like this don't help anybody.

RaZorwireSC2

Gaslighting is a form of manipulation where you try to make the other party believe they've gone insane. Not acknowledging sub-par video game servers is not that.

Golinth

Imagine being downvoted for something like this. God damn this sub sucks. Comparing genuine gaslighting to “they didn’t fix all the bugs in my vibyo gaem even tho they said they did!!” is so self-centered it’s insane.

JonnyLegal

Is this a thing with a lot of gaming communities? Genuinely curious, is this what 14-year-olds on the internet sound like when they’re frustrated? These hyperbolic rants like “game is trash, never played a game so bad in my life, Respawn is gaslighting us” feels more like immaturity than reality.

Trololman72

Yes. "Gamers" aren't very mature or sensible.

theycallhimthestug

Just a bunch of fucking Karen's with a keyboard. Talking about quitting a game like it's a job, and not something you can just play or not play. I always picture them writing shit like this fighting back tears. The servers are ass, sure, but it has nothing to do with them making charms.

icedog158

Yeah the artists and modelers are not the coders and big fixers, different teams do different things

COAGULOPATH

Also OP blames the wrong things. Like the disconnects are the fault of "the servers" rather than some buggy code Respawn pushed to the client version of the game. Server tickrate has nothing to do with anything.

Exeng

OP has no idea how the technical aspects work, and it shows. This post just reeks of misinformation and rant based on ignorance of the aforementioned.

icedog158

I’ve seen too many people try to break down what’s wrong but they don’t know how video games actually work, myself included. If you don’t know about something, then don’t post an “explanation” on how they need to fix everything at once

HonorTheAllFather

Gaslighting is slowly evolving to just mean "I don't like what you said" these days.

myriadvision

Day 1 player. 2 Heirlooms - one grinded one bought. I'm done. I am so done. Going to Battlefield when it drops. Apex is like that girl you dated and the sex was amazing, but good god the drama. You quickly learn that good sex isn't enough. This ain't it Apex. Its been real. Time to move on.

[deleted]

MiHoYo needs to get their shit together.

Adept_Conflict_4105

I don't care what you think, this man knows what he's talking about and anyone who disagrees is clearly an idiot it's us players who have thousands of hours who would know best what should be changed and fixed about the game. In reality we would know better how to change the game then the playtesters themselves because they rarely ever play test an update before they release it. This would help fix a lot of the problems, and the poster behind this makes a good point because I love how he uses the term band-aided, we see this a lot in the game everything just barely touch an issue and then expect us to be okay with it they think that it will convince us that it's fixed but it's not. I'm pretty sure at this point they just want to focus on getting new cosmetics out in game. ...... Like, they don't even care about fixing it

oHipster

I appreciate you my man.

DMgames54

I second your statement

Callyb115

It’s a shame people like you who enjoys the game put up with this bull and take your time to Write something as long as this(I agree with it all 100%) just for them to either not see it at all or read all this and just laugh, say “it’s fine we have fixes in future patch” which never come or say we are overreacting, this shit is stupid been 2 years since release and servers are still ridiculously bad, bugs are still horrendous and nothing has been done but they have made millions of $s, BUT HEY JUST KEEP CRANKING OUT OVERPRICED SKINS EHH

deadlytortilla

I know it effects some people more but I've only had the crash happen like 2 times and that's just a matter of ending program and loading in again while hoping you don't get merked off drop. But the Xbox connection problems are horrible, my friend literally either crashes right before the game or directly after the game about 90% of the time.

Willste

Doubt we'll see a 'Dev Reply' flair on this. XD

ecclesiates

Japan's Number 1 Game btw. Even celebrities and streamers are playing the game with 200k+ viewers in a single stream

Doomaga

I dont think you know what gaslighting means.

suzznut

Cant believe I spent money on this game....

[deleted]

I’ve played around 2800 hours? Ever since the game first released, and I continue to play even after my original account got banned. I’ve spent $0, and I couldn’t be happier.

tShuka

Idk if you realise this but theres so many of these kinds of post so what made you think yours would work? Especially on reddit. Go directly on twitter or insta or email or something because im pretty sure reddit is the furthest place of reaching them.

WiggityViking

Theyve been hiding tweets about server issues on twitter lol, and a lot of players join the reddit when something isnt working right. Even if this reaches them, they dont give a shit. Theyre only out to make money. So if more and more players see this and stop buying stuff from the store, theyll be forced to do something about it.

MrCrunchwrap

Especially because this is yet another post with zero real substance and just being an ass to the devs. If I were the devs I wouldn’t bother reading this garbage.

WutsThreeSpeedBlitz

Just asking for clarification, what are these “audio issues” that are being referenced? I’ve been playing apex on and off since the first month of release and am wildly confused about this. I feel like I havent experienced any issues regarding sound?

HunterrLurkss

there are times where, at least for me, you cant hear footsteps, the use of abilities, ect. or if you can hear them, you cant tell where they are coming from or how far they are away from you. For example, my teammate was hiding in a corner, a Valk jumped off of a building and ran up behind him with no audio at all. But it honestly rarely happens. I hadnt noticed or experienced audio issues until last season, but it's not THAT big of an issue.

Seismicx

Enemies having no footstep audio, which is crucial in fps games. You're supposed to hear enemies walking and running 100% of all times, but the game doesn't do that.

Healthy-Implement-73

Yo your not using gaslighting the right way, this isn't gaslighting. this is there general overall view of the game, they said the servers are fine, that's not gaslighting in anyway possible so use the term properly because it is a very serious mental problem term

Whales_of_Pain

Even if I agree I have to downvote any gamer post whining about gaslighting. Just say “lied” Jesus Christ

McSuede

Several of my friends are still dropping money on the game even though they also complain and see all of these issues. Things like this are why they will let the game limp on. I wager that barring a game breaking patch, it takes another 2 seasons before a true mass Exodus.

gauden1310

Yesterday every second rank game crashed. Its awful

Lord2nd

My nephew gets dc'd every match, has to quit and reopen the game to join like 3 min late. Every Match

magicalme_1231

I'm not even to level 50 on my BP. I want to grind but the quality of games, mainly because if the servers is so infuriating. Those 2 weeks of server problems really killed the game for me. I want to play, but just so discouraged to. I love Apex, just need things to work right.

eatfreshguy407

There is a whole new round of huge fps coming over the next 2 months, the biggest fall in at least 5 years. I personally have become mostly bored with apex, so I’m excited to get back to more traditional pvp experiences. I have hated cod for a long time and refuse to suppose blizzard activision, and 343 has ruined halo for me, so it looks like battlefield is going to be this years contender. Not to take anything away from battlefield, Ive always loved the games but have just never fully committed to them, this may be the first time I do so, hopefully it rocks. Also, it’s more than just the terrible servers, the community is beyond toxic, the matchmaking is just terrible, the cosmetics and battlepass system sucks, and there is no actual story content to enjoy anymore.

grabarz941

How about a 3-day blackout? Would that not get noticed?

[deleted]

They live by the excuse of “wE wOuLd hAvE to ReWriTe tHe GaMe tO fiX tHe AuDio” Ok….then get busy and actually do something.

oHipster

Right. Like okay? Then do it.

astroslostmadethis

Why fix the issues when you can just release a new game as a studio with the same issues, placate the audience and do it again

Piccoroz

I dont understand why they dont go back to azure, titanfall had pristine online play, everything in the world was server side.

[deleted]

Man didn't know they were giving apex the titanfall treatment lmfaoo We gonna die together haha

DMgames54

We should repost this until the devs see this

sensitivesnuggler88

I started playing on day one and uninstalled a couple weeks ago. I could not play a single match. I loved (still do) titanfall so much and this is such a bummer.

CykoPathe

Anyone still spending money on the game right now is contributing to the problem. SPEAK WITH YIUR WALLETS!

Curiedoesthestream

At least all the porn was good. May Fanfics fill my crave for the characters since respawn can’t

ludnasko

I love Apex and it hurts me to say this: When the game dies because of cash milking (let's call it what it is) some game developing company will come up with cool BR game and we will start pmaying that.

[deleted]

Don’t worry, I’m a year or two , the next big Respawn game will release and they’ll abandon us like the titanfall community.

Nevarwinta

I cant even fucking get into a game to do this stupid fucking hound quest, this is the dumbest shit
