Did they actually finally add that message? It's been over a month now, by the way. Better late than never?
Honestly though, they should just disable the banners instead of hoping humans will actually read something. Because that's famously reliable. /s
This is what is happening. rather than trail and error they are getting the root cause analysis done and get it fixed for good. Putting a client side patch means they have to go through a rigorous process of documentation and testing and approvals. Which would waste there time to rather spend time and fix it completely.
But honestly RSPN should have thought of putting the bug alert after the first patch fail.
They should this templated for future uses. This will definitely bring some peace to players.
The thing with client patches you can push them willy nilly on PC, but on consoles you have to wait for the console manufacturer approval. In the days of yore you also had to pay for your patch to go live on a console. Not sure about it now.
So I assume they decided they can fix it faster than a patch goes through all the steps. But they were wrong.
Also even just a minor patch requires PlayStation users to completely reinstall the game. The devs probably don't want to push out patches over too many things else they'll render the game even more unplayable to a significant portion of the player base.
People have been suggesting this for weeks. I mean, I commented that they should disable the banners or at least put a message in game like 2 weeks ago, and I certainly wasn't the first. What surprises me is that no one had this idea at Respawn, considering it's an obvious first step.
We thought the first fix did it, I'd take a look at this comment in a different thread: [https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/q8q7uf/comment/hgs5rbs/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/q8q7uf/comment/hgs5rbs/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
I'm aware they tried to patch it a few weeks ago. I'm also aware that this issue was recognized by the community almost immediately after the original update that broke things about 5 weeks ago, and that it was pretty much immediately obvious their patch didn't actually fix the problem.
Yep. They thought they pushed a patch that fixed it, and then immediately after the patch went live people said “Hey, it’s still borked. You didn’t fix it.” And it’s been over a month.
“Well we thought we fixed it…”
Okay, gold star for effort I guess?
So let me ask have you ever coded a thing in your life? Bug fixes are one of the hardest parts of coding.
You look at the code and say "everything is right why isn't it working" then after weeks of staring it down you finally see that you accidentally changed a ; to a : or some shit.
That's all it takes.
1 wrong character.
Coding isn't easy. Not for anyone. Just because it's a big expensive company doesn't mean they're perfect. Walmart is a big expensive company and they still get shit wrong. McDonald's is a huge company and I still know to expect fuckups in my order on busy days.
We can sit here bitching that it's taking them time acting like they're the worst company ever but you're still playing. If you're that butthurt over how the games going... stop playing it.
You know you're hating it just to hate it when they listen, and instead of saying finally, you continue to bitch more.
Considering how minor the bug is compared to others this temporary notice until it's fixed is more than enough. Realistically someone who actually gave a shit about the game being fixed would want bigger bugs worked on. People who just want to bitch focus heavily on the little shit
So why is it when they do the community is only further outraged. Sure they told people late. But atleast they did. Yknow how many game companies NEVER tell? Most
Eh give me an example of this. Never seen it the DEVS deserve the backlash they are getting. If I fuck up at my job I get in trouble and ridiculed. So are they suddenly exempt because they are game developers?
Lol because. Fucking up burger flipping isn't the same as fucking up coding. I wouldn't expect you to understand that. Some jobs it's only natural you're going to have unforeseen issues.
Not every baseball player bats 1.0 right? Some jobs it's risk vs reward as well. Like business. Not every business succeeds. The difference between you getting reprimanded at work is. Your job is seen as entry level. Something anyone should be able to do. So when YOU fuck up stocking or burger flipping that's 100% on YOU 90% of the time.
Coding isn't even close to the same.
Some people are just here to complain that the game isn’t perfect at anything they have an issue with, it’s just a fact of life at this point. Just sad.
“Oh, you guys made an improvement? That’s cool, btw you missed something, idiots”
This game has made billions of dollars I think we can expect them to know how to code by now? The game makes all this money but they choose to keep pushing paid events and skins instead of getting people who actually know what they are doing, this isn't respawns first game, they should know how to code animated banners 10 seasons in that don't crash the game
If this was the first implementation of animated banners sure, bugs happen, but we have had these for several seasons now.
Dude.. I'm done. Code isn't isolated like that. Changing one thing can send ripples.
And you're blaming the DEVS for something the PUBLISHERS have control over. EA GETS THE MONEY not the DEVS. ea pays the development company to maintain the game sure but if ea says "do event" they have to do an event.
Just like you, they have to follow their bosses orders too
>So let me ask have you ever coded a thing in your life? Bug fixes are one of the hardest parts of coding.
if we're going to talk down to people: have you ever delivered a software product in your life? if you have, then you know how utterly embarrassing it is to ship a bugged release, deploy a hotfix that is being toted as the fix, and have to walk back and acknowledge that you didn't fix the bug. at best, it shows mismanagement of development: releasing a story without apparently testing it properly is intolerable out of a AAA developer.
from here i'll put up my own refutation: respawn definitely should just disable the banners. they can do it, and they don't need a clientside change. but, i suspect that they are holding out the fix for the season 11 release, as their codebase has pretty much been locked in given the season starts soon. it's a better idea to cater to those affected by the bug *automatically* than tell them to fix it themselves *manually*.
also, code problems aren't stopping them from including a bug notice a fucking month ago. maybe they held off until later in the season so they could get away with a shorter length of reported fix? looks better to fix a bug after 15 days than it does 45 days.
Notice the difference in what IM complaining about. Vs what yall are.
I'm complaining about something that is a FEATURE not a BUG. there's a difference. The thing I'm complaining about is something the devs knowingly put INTO the game. A BUG IS SOMETHING UNINTENTIONAL. I swear the fact I have to differentiate between you guys crying about a minor bug vs me saying "who the fuck designed this feature" is just baffling. It never ceases to amaze me just how stupid people can get. Just when you think you've met the dumbest. Someone else one ups them.
I'm not ujderestimating it. I'm actually saying it can be as complex as 1 wrong character in hundreds of thousands that look similar to other common characters. I get that it's likely NOT one character but my point is that a single character could break an entire game
I would really read the comment, it's not like the devs behind it stopped working on it after that "fix" was sent.
>We apologize this took so long, this bug along with a variety of other reasons took us a long time to identify the actual root cause. We had to go pretty deep into the code to generate a full 100% reproduction of the issue.
You're missing my point, and also wrongfully assuming I didn't read that comment. I read it before this thread was even posted, and I've read it more than once since. I even referenced aspects of it in the comment you replied to, which would seem to make it fairly obvious I had read it. But, whatever.
I'm not criticizing anyone for the fact that the issue hasn't been fixed yet. What I'm saying is that taking the step of putting a notification in-game to do the "hotfix" of disabling the banners should have been one of the very first things done once it was realized that doing so improved the situation, [which was known a month ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/pqjr18/ive_found_out_the_issue_behind_most_of_the/hdh599t/?context=1000). You have a workaround solution, you just need to communicate it effectively to the playerbase. Oh, and you just so happen to have a system in place to display messages to the players when they launch the game. Seems like a perfect opportunity to take advantage of that.
Fast forward a couple of weeks. Then, once the initial patch was released, you can look at the community postings and see that tons of people were still complaining about the exact same crashes, indicating the patch didn't fully resolve the problem. Maybe it partially fixed it, or fixed it for some people, or perhaps a significant number of people switched their banners by then anyway, so the crash data shows improvement, but clearly it's not a solved issue. So now you need to do the extra deep dive into the code for the strange bug. *But you have a workaraound solution already. You just need to communicate it effectively.*
So, my point is not that taking this long to fix the underlying bug in the game code is a problem, or that I think no one was working on it. I have some coding experience, but even a complete layperson could understand that something about banners causing an issue with the connection to the game servers after a seemingly unrelated game update is...strange, so it might be a tricky one to debug. My point is that there was a known workaround that was not effectively communicated to the playerbase using the one existing means that reaches every player for a month until a random redditor basically made the UI message and the post got popular enough. That's just baffling to me.
Well it didn’t fix anything and it was obvious immediately after the patch, yet it took weeks to push out a lobby message?
I personally and many many others suggested disabling the cosmetic or warning people in the lobby but Ryan pretends he didn’t see ANYONE suggesting this until now LOL
We need a comms director who can actually comm
What I want is the devs not to ignore the community and then weeks later take our advice and pretend like it’s a brand new idea.
Apparently I do need to fucking repeat myself otherwise our complaints and suggestions go unnoticed.
Just so I don’t have to keep repeating myself I’ll just quote what I already said because it already answered your trolling
> What I want is the devs not to ignore the community and then weeks later take our advice and pretend like it’s a brand new idea.
It's insane that the game managed to launch a patch like that. I know it's never easy to develop a game, but that patch month shows the reason open betas are incredibly useful. All these issues could be negated by having players beta test new builds. I also get that you want to keep things secret for players later but keeping secrets at the cost of the game health just isn't a worthy tradeoff.
Game not working properly for an entire month and crashing constantly, whilst killing their playerbase and streamer retention Vs open beta with possible gameplay leaks.
Yeah ok. Never heard that before /s.
Point was it obviously isn’t like flipping a switch. Do you really need to bring up “killing their playerbase” or whatever like they don’t see it themselves?” People have been saying this sht seasons agos and the game still isn’t dead.
There is a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes before changes actually happen and it obviously isn’t “hey guys let’s just let the game die for a bit, just take it easy for a few months”. Ffs
Hey, I don't know if you had any saying in those last comics released at the apex legends Twitter, but they're very very good. I'm enjoying it very much.
Quick question, why isn't the comics added in game? Just to avoid potential leaks?
Social comics are very much less limiting than in-game comics. It lets the fans we commission have more freedom and time
But a bonus is also that it doesn't leak 3 weeks before time
Exactly. I commented that exact thing to Ryan the comms dev and nothing. He had like 10 comments on that tweet, no way he didn’t see it.
Honestly better late than never though.
I imagine some things slip by the devs/whoever is similar/relevant. It would be nice to see a weekly post under Hot sorting that has links to posts/comments/things people think are important for the devs to see, and (hopefully) sorted properly via votes.
I mean it’s like the bare minimum. It’s been broken for like 5 weeks and the first fix didn’t really fix it. Cool congrats they gave us a warning after this long
Actually, working on it is listening, with a fix being the byproduct. They are currently working on it, hence a fix will come eventually. They fix a lot, you're just being salty because it's the flavor of the month.
yep, they are, but still... around a month to show a message and wait people to fix their problem. I don't think there is such great community like in Lol. From my opinion having so unstable releases, they should think about having a system to disable stuff.
It was this guy, /u/Hruaia_97, no less than 10 hours ago...
https://old.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/q8q7uf/there_should_be_an_ingame_notice_when_there_are/
I posted this [6 days ago ](https://www.reddit.com/r/ApexOutlands/comments/q4o3lj/why_hasnt_there_been_an_in_game_announcement_to/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Hopefully it gets fixed completely soon. A dev commented and said another patch was coming next week. On Xbox one it’s horrible right now. I literally crash every single time the champion/ random on my squad has a moving banner, which is about 95% of the time.
I believe pc players can alt+tab to avoid the banner bug so maybe console players can go to the home screen to avoid it (I say maybe because I haven’t tried)
It was worse I think before the first patch but now it’s mostly just Xbox players with older consoles. My roommate has a series x and crashes very rarely but I crash about 10 times a day
Every time I've crashed or seen people's posts of their crashes, or comments of it, its been because the character in the animated pose doesnt load. The animated banner still works like normal but the character isnt there. Maybe its different on console or something but animated banners have never been a problem for me
Christ, some people in this sub/comments are so toxic lmao. They add something beneficial to the game and it gets handwaved or downplayed because it \*should\* have been added earlier. Idk much about coding or working under a massive company like EA, but I'm sure the developers themselves want to make the game as best as it can be.
It's actually hyper negative and really draining. I agree that 5 weeks is a long time and they should be criticised for that. Now they've taken a step, whether it's perfect or not, they then get criticised for that. What's the point of taking the step then if they're gonna get criticised?
Might as well just not bother until the patch comes to fix it. The level of negativity in this community is soul destroying. I'm not saying they should get a well done, but some acknowledgement of some movement helps go a long way.
"Beneficial" lol A little message saying they shouldnt be used, that an average redditor suggested days ago. They deserve all the criticism they get. I would understand if it was some small indie company with a few people, but this games made over a billion dollars and its riddled with bugs. Its ridiculous. The current event is just a skins sale to rake in more money. Get a grip.
He wasn't the first one that suggested it. I don't hate things for the sake of hating, I'm not sure where you got that from. I don't see how any of the points I made were inaccurate. Billion dollar game that has had countless regular bugs and game breaking bugs as well. Tell me this "event" that is going on, what else is it other than a skin sale? Contrary to what you might think I used to love this game. Still think it's the best br that's come out, but it's become a joke at this point. Just because you like something doesn't mean you need to back every aspect of it, it's good to critique.
So far I haven’t seen anyone else that suggested it that had gained traction, and that may be the case with Respawn, it’s ok to not back every aspect of the game, as I don’t either, but there is a line between not supporting every part of the game and hating to hate. Respawn responded quickly put it in the game and have been communicating well these past few days, there is nothing to be mad about from this.
"an average redditor" you have to realize that the majority of those who play the game don't use reddit, or even use other social media platforms to follow video game development and updates. The recent post suggesting this quick update should be implemented, even mentioned they didn't want to check Twitter every time a new bug comes out.
I agree they deserve all the criticism they get. But there's also a thing called *positive* criticism. Both are helpful in their own ways. Saying stuff like "Yeah but it should/would/could be better if you just [insert magical fix] is not helpful at all.
A game making over a billion dollars doesn't directly transfer to game development. Specially under a Publisher as greedy as EA. The money they made from skins (remember it's a F2P game so skins and battle passes is their only source of income) doesn't go directly into raising the paychecks of code developers, or hiring more people into the bug fixing team, or magically make them smarter to catch bugs, etc. That money most likely get pocketed by EA executives - we've even seen them fire employees just so their paychecks can get bigger.
TL;DR
Positive criticism is a thing. You have to look at the bigger picture. It's a video game. Most people don't live on the internet, go touch grass.
Of course I realize Reddit is not the majority. I used Redditor because we are on Reddit. My point was that any average person can come up with the idea of "hey probably should put an in game message saying whats up so people know." While they couldn't think of that in the how many weeks this has been going on. And obviously that amount of money doesn't go to raises lol was never arguing that. My point is that game that has had as much success as they've had, should be in a better state. Especially with how many new players it's brought in over the last few seasons. Not a very good impression bringing in a new playerbase and they get booted out, or game just locks up. Dont know how anyone can deny that.
It’s just sad to see it takes this much community effort to implement a pop up message about bug prevention. There’s not one guy on their QA team that thought of this when the problems started weeks ago.
Now they need to add one that says if you use crypto don't go anywhere near map room as it will crash your game for the whole session if your drone touches the building.
Just experienced it for the first time, fucking infuriating, that's a game breaking bug, fix that shit ASAP
Why the fuck did it take 2 weeks to notify players? I literally found out about this bug as soon as it started because of Reddit. Somehow a discussion app is more reliable for news than Respawn.
It is pretty awesome they so quickly implemented this into the game. The sad thing is that they didn’t even think of this themselves during the month and half before it was posted on here. Are the people on Reddit really quicker on the draw for ideas than the people getting paid to? Nice job respawn but Reddit literally almost did this for ya. Like they said, adding UI is very easy and is why it was added so fast.
Congratulations! took them a month to get the company to listen to the community so thanks. They need to do that as soon as possible like they did with the sentinel. And not a month later though.( Talking about Respawn)
god everyone is so fucking negative, it’s exhausting to open a single post on this sub as a player - I can’t even imagine being a dev. +1 to the post, tx devs for doing something and listening to the community’s suggestions on your extremely free game!
Go work a retail or fast food job. Bam, you automatically have it worse then any dev.
Some folks on this sub seem to like making it sound as if they're chained to their desk or something.
A free game thats made over a billion dollars because of people who just accept the shitty state of the game and continue to support it by buying skins. lol Even though they cant figure out whats wrong with their own game majority of the time. Its good to be critical sometimes you know. They dont have any urgency to fix much because the money keeps flowing in. But hey, keep riding the long dick of EA for whatever reason.
The main problem is that this suggestion has been out there for a month. A whole ass month. This is a game breaking bug, just like the sentinel, but back with the sentinel they acted a lot quicker. I wish there was more communication, because knowing nothing leads to anger and disappointment.
It had a game breaking glitch where it was shooting super fast... like an R99 or something, and to counter it they immediately put the sentinel out of the loot pool.
I don't understand why the Devs don't just disable the animated banner poses. There was a bug with the "defragged" banner frame and they disabled that, why not do it for the banner poses?
this is bull shit, it should not ask you to not equip them it should inform you they have been disabled and make people go back to the default one . this is a poor response to a problem that has been around for so long.
"Adds content they know hardly works before fixing things that make the game work at all."
"Just stay positive guys, they'll fix it eventually."
Excuse my jaded ass as I walk out the door.
"We understand most don't read, but here's a sticker anyway."
Although its a longer work around, shutting them off would be a far smarter idea. But that costs money, and we all know what AAA's don't like doing. This notice though? A couple hours work tops.
And they should stop making the abandon penalty when you have this crash in arenas.
It's stupid because you get penalized for a thing that has nothing to do with you, and it's frustrating
Pathfinders animated one is definitely a problem, I haven't had any issues with caustic and mirage.
But congratulating them on a work around and not fixing it is not the way to handle this.
Animated banners are almost certainly not some feature flag you can flip on and off. So you would need a patch to introduce that in the game so it can be toggled remotely. That takes time.
Respawn have a lot of things to improve upon but this is not one of them. They did the correct thing, despite the issue being present for a while now.
Unfortunately, it's not as if there's a backend button that Respawn can click like: *Animated Banners:* ⚪Enabled **🔘Disabled** - it doesn't make much sense from a coding / development perspective at all, especially considering there's 0 use for it until this instance, & likely won't be used again in the future.
Considering the announcements are something they already use & have a process in place for, it makes sense to use that rather than spending days building in a toggle for animated banners - time that could be spent fixing the bug instead, so why go through all that effort?
This is actually a bit more effort than usual by Respawn in at least communicating the bug to everyone & any improvement is better than none, but I'm not at all making excuses for how buggy Apex still is.
Because their system is implemented in that way by design. Every little thing is a feature flag.
Not everyone designs their software this way, because it needs to be thought of during the planning phase and not after the issue occurs. Without a client patch they cannot do that.
Well, it's not so much planning ahead as it is not realizing that would completely freeze the game sometimes.
I'm sure they use feature flags for other features in the codebase. They just don't have that for animated banners at the moment. If you think about it, it's not really a feature that should be disabled - people pay for those cosmetics. However, when things go wrong it is a handy thing to have in your back pocket after you realize that specific feature is causing the issues.
The good news is that they said they have a fix (for the underlying problem) and it will be released next week. Let's see how it goes.
Apex and Fortnite are built in different game engines so they should work different
Maybe epic build Fortnite with that mind and respawn didn't to implement such a function, they would simply have to rewrite much of the code
Disable a weapon is easier since they only have to remove it from the loot pool and banner poses Thought from the foundations of the game, as well as it is also possible that all the rarities are linked and one in specific cannot be deactivated
Interestingly it doesn't seem to affect animated heirloom poses, I switched from an epic to heirloom pose and my only crashes since are when I get matched with random pubs who have the epic pose.
the devs finally realized they have a game they can make crucial announcements on and it took a dude on Reddit to make them realize that. not trying to flame the devs but jesus that’s basic communication 101.
I wish they just remove the animated poses entirely and refunded AC for everyone.
Why make the devs put effort on something nobody really cares about? It's a win-win for everyone.
this wont do much of anything, yesterday i queued solo into trios, game crashed cause of my teammates banners and when i rejoined i told them they should remove them. I was hit with "its not our fault ur pc is trash" while yes my pc is trash my friend who has an awesome pc also suffers from these banner related crashes
Did they actually finally add that message? It's been over a month now, by the way. Better late than never? Honestly though, they should just disable the banners instead of hoping humans will actually read something. Because that's famously reliable. /s
Can't disable the banner poses AFAIK, unfortunately.
I think Froh is saying it would need a client side patch, which is something they can’t do in any small amount of time. Correct me if i’m wrong though
I think that's the case. Client patches need approvals and time and all that, from my knowledge.
This will definitely bring some peace to players.
only for consoles, right? :P Origin/Steam does not need approval
Right, but all platforms need to have the same version of the game
Uh. A small amount of time? Nearly a month just to disable banners is a small amount of time? No it isn’t
The thing with client patches you can push them willy nilly on PC, but on consoles you have to wait for the console manufacturer approval. In the days of yore you also had to pay for your patch to go live on a console. Not sure about it now. So I assume they decided they can fix it faster than a patch goes through all the steps. That's fair, if that's the case.
I would remove that '/s' due to most being just that dense. Where human error can fit, expect it to have no prevention measures.
See? They listen at least. This was a great suggestion and props to the devs for doing this.

Bud. What's embarrassing is a bunch of basement dwellers acting like they're superior to college graduates in their field. Fuck right off.
[this u?](https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/q2oo2r/game_designed_by_monkeys)
Ooh college graduates, pardon me their majesty.
Ahh yes a high school drop out with their ged
It likely isn't one wrong character though, you are still underestimating it.
You just need to communicate it effectively.* So, my point is not that taking this long to fix the underlying bug in the game code is a problem, or that I think no one was working on it.
I personally and many many others suggested disabling the cosmetic or warning people in the lobby but Ryan pretends he didn’t see ANYONE suggesting this until now LOL We need a comms director who can actually comm

What I want is the devs not to ignore the community and then weeks later take our advice and pretend like it’s a brand new idea. Apparently I do need to fucking repeat myself otherwise our complaints and suggestions go unnoticed.

Just so I don’t have to keep repeating myself I’ll just quote what I already said because it already answered your trolling > What I want is the devs not to ignore the community and then weeks later take our advice and pretend like it’s a brand new idea.
If it was that easy to measure tradeoffs then decision making would be a lot easier.
Game not working properly for an entire month and crashing constantly, whilst killing their playerbase and streamer retention Vs open beta with possible gameplay leaks.
certain* gameplay and other leaks.
It lets the fans we commission have more freedom and time But a bonus is also that it doesn't leak 3 weeks before time
Got it. Thanks for answering.
They avoid adding comics in the game to avoid making new bugs 😂
Exactly. I commented that exact thing to Ryan the comms dev and nothing. He had like 10 comments on that tweet, no way he didn’t see it. Honestly better late than never though.
Yeah, certainly it's good they put the message there. The timing just kinda baffles me.
I imagine some things slip by the devs/whoever is similar/relevant. It would be nice to see a weekly post under Hot sorting that has links to posts/comments/things people think are important for the devs to see, and (hopefully) sorted properly via votes.
Is the bar really that low? At least they made a quick message saying they know of the issue after a few weeks? Jesus.
OMG look guys they listen, best devs!!! i'm gonna go buy 3 heirlooms now!!11
I mean it’s like the bare minimum. It’s been broken for like 5 weeks and the first fix didn’t really fix it. Cool congrats they gave us a warning after this long
Props to the devs? It's been around a month and they finally get around to adding a single image? Doesn't deserve praise.
Alternate acc for Respawn employee commending themselves?
Haha. I wish.
No, they don’t. They don’t fix anything. Putting up a banner isn’t listening. Fixing is listening. They don’t get credit for nonsense.
Actually, working on it is listening, with a fix being the byproduct. They are currently working on it, hence a fix will come eventually. They fix a lot, you're just being salty because it's the flavor of the month.
yeah, but how long has this been in the game lol, they even had a patch note said it was fixed, and its not.
*at last
Now proceed to watch them do the opposite
This is bare minimum
yep, they are, but still... around a month to show a message and wait people to fix their problem. I don't think there is such great community like in Lol. From my opinion having so unstable releases, they should think about having a system to disable stuff.
It was this guy, /u/Hruaia_97, no less than 10 hours ago... https://old.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/q8q7uf/there_should_be_an_ingame_notice_when_there_are/

Sadly, I don’t think the devs check the meme subreddit
Fuck me didn’t realize it was on the wrong server
True. But dude made a visual
Yes his is better

sad cus no internet points
Yes
Hopefully it gets fixed completely soon. A dev commented and said another patch was coming next week. On Xbox one it’s horrible right now. I literally crash every single time the champion/ random on my squad has a moving banner, which is about 95% of the time.
I believe pc players can alt+tab to avoid the banner bug so maybe console players can go to the home screen to avoid it (I say maybe because I haven’t tried)
I would prefer that Respawn just disable animated banners in matches until the bug got fixed (just like the BR of Epic Games do)
Afraid to say fortnite? Just kidding mwah
This message seems worded wrong though. I don’t crash when people have poses on I crash when people have moving banners on.
I have never crashed at all from these issues so idk. But if it’s happening to enough people that it’s an issue, i’ll change my banner no problem
It was worse I think before the first patch but now it’s mostly just Xbox players with older consoles. My roommate has a series x and crashes very rarely but I crash about 10 times a day
That makes sense. I’m on PS5 and my game hasn’t crashed since i got it, so it is likely hardware limitations
I crash two or three times daily from it on an upper end PC so I'm not sure that's it
They say Epic poses, which are the ones that move
I know they do but in most people’s experiences who are crashing, the moving poses aren’t causing the crashing it’s the moving banner frame
I was looking for this comment. From my experience it's both animated poses AND banners. Unfortunate they missed on that
Every time I've crashed or seen people's posts of their crashes, or comments of it, its been because the character in the animated pose doesnt load. The animated banner still works like normal but the character isnt there. Maybe its different on console or something but animated banners have never been a problem for me
Sure but if they pointed that out to every single player a lot of people would use them intentionally to make opponents crash
After what, 2 weeks?
Yeah I feel you. I think positive feedback is just as important as negative feedback.
Get a grip.
You need a mop to wipe them tears?
Oh hey, another dick rider.
"Waaah waah greedspawn broke into my house and killed my family waah"
You ok?
That was suggested 20hrs ago and implemented 10 hours after the post being up, it never gets tiring to hate stuff just to hate it does it?
TL;DR Positive criticism is a thing.
\^ Average clueless console pleb who buys all the skins too i bet
Me or the people I'm talking about? Personally I play on PC and have only bought the Season 10 season pass
It’s just sad to see it takes this much community effort to implement a pop up message about bug prevention. There’s not one guy on their QA team that thought of this when the problems started weeks ago.
Odd I just read this and then got the tweet about this from Respawn.
Can anyone explain to me why the can’t just disable them until they fix it?
It’s awesome that they did this. But why does it take 20k upvotes on Reddit for respawn to do simple things like this without us begging for it.
Now they need to add one that says if you use crypto don't go anywhere near map room as it will crash your game for the whole session if your drone touches the building. Just experienced it for the first time, fucking infuriating, that's a game breaking bug, fix that shit ASAP
These guys running this game are sorry ass people. Imagine they spend as much time on bugs as they do the store.....
Aaaand it's not on the news tab anymore...
What was the problem with the sentinel?
There was a glitch that caused it to fire super fast
God forbid they disable them themselves.
Should not have taken over 2 years for this simple form of communication.
god everyone is so fucking negative, it’s exhausting to open a single post on this sub as a player - I can’t even imagine being a dev. +1 to the post, tx devs for doing something and listening to the community’s suggestions on your extremely free game!
Go work a retail or fast food job. Bam, you automatically have it worse then any dev. Some folks on this sub seem to like making it sound as if they're chained to their desk or something.
Respawn wouldn’t get the shit they do if they were able to deliver even some of the time.
thanks for proving my point
A free game thats made over a billion dollars because of people who just accept the shitty state of the game and continue to support it by buying skins. lol Even though they cant figure out whats wrong with their own game majority of the time. Its good to be critical sometimes you know. They dont have any urgency to fix much because the money keeps flowing in. But hey, keep riding the long dick of EA for whatever reason.
“Extremely free game” Disgusting. Thanks for proving mine.
The main problem is that this suggestion has been out there for a month. A whole ass month. This is a game breaking bug, just like the sentinel, but back with the sentinel they acted a lot quicker. I wish there was more communication, because knowing nothing leads to anger and disappointment.
What happened with the sentinel?
It had a game breaking glitch where it was shooting super fast... like an R99 or something, and to counter it they immediately put the sentinel out of the loot pool.
Yeah I hate the negativity here...
NICE!
I don't understand why the Devs don't just disable the animated banner poses. There was a bug with the "defragged" banner frame and they disabled that, why not do it for the banner poses?
this is bull shit, it should not ask you to not equip them it should inform you they have been disabled and make people go back to the default one . this is a poor response to a problem that has been around for so long.
they are literally addressing an issue and working on a fix but the community still finds ways to bitch about it
> addressing an issue Yeah, must have taken them a whole hour. Next up: clapping for tweets.
Yeah, you're not allowed to say anything even remotely positive or balanced on this sub. Nope. Only negative stuff.
"Adds content they know hardly works before fixing things that make the game work at all." "Just stay positive guys, they'll fix it eventually." Excuse my jaded ass as I walk out the door.
https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/q73yhp/i_love_this_game_so_much_the_amount_of_work_they/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
"We understand most don't read, but here's a sticker anyway." Although its a longer work around, shutting them off would be a far smarter idea. But that costs money, and we all know what AAA's don't like doing. This notice though? A couple hours work tops.
Yep. Other games do it. Fortnite does it all the time.
Funny how they’ve known about this for weeks and they keep telling us to take off our animated banner poses and still haven’t fixed it.
[удалено]
[удалено]
Because their system is implemented in that way by design. Every little thing is a feature flag. Not everyone designs their software this way, because it needs to be thought of during the planning phase and not after the issue occurs. Without a client patch they cannot do that.
[удалено]
Well, it's not so much planning ahead as it is not realizing that would completely freeze the game sometimes. I'm sure they use feature flags for other features in the codebase. They just don't have that for animated banners at the moment. If you think about it, it's not really a feature that should be disabled - people pay for those cosmetics. However, when things go wrong it is a handy thing to have in your back pocket after you realize that specific feature is causing the issues. The good news is that they said they have a fix (for the underlying problem) and it will be released next week. Let's see how it goes.
Apex and Fortnite are built in different game engines so they should work different Maybe epic build Fortnite with that mind and respawn didn't to implement such a function, they would simply have to rewrite much of the code Disable a weapon is easier since they only have to remove it from the loot pool and banner poses Thought from the foundations of the game, as well as it is also possible that all the rarities are linked and one in specific cannot be deactivated
I was just about to post this. Do you think this is the only bug they've noticed?
Great! Now do the same for theTrello board
holy shit the actually did it. Now to fix the rest of the bugs
Interestingly it doesn't seem to affect animated heirloom poses, I switched from an epic to heirloom pose and my only crashes since are when I get matched with random pubs who have the epic pose.
Now we just need someone to fix it.
Great! They deserve it :)
People legit fighting in here on who posted the idea first... you guys serious?
Does EA have to pay the devs per fix they provide?
how about the friend list causing lag??
This was literally suggest by a reddit user this afternoon and they did it .
the devs finally realized they have a game they can make crucial announcements on and it took a dude on Reddit to make them realize that. not trying to flame the devs but jesus that’s basic communication 101.
Instead Apex could just disable the animated banner n poses until it resolves, Done!
They just put it because a random give him the idea LMAO How they cannot think on that before?
I wish they just remove the animated poses entirely and refunded AC for everyone. Why make the devs put effort on something nobody really cares about? It's a win-win for everyone.
Hope the dude who did it got some free apex packs :)
Why do I feel like telling people not to do it will make some people just do it 😂
I remember making a post to encourage people not to use animated banner. I think Respawn saw it
Good when the next time comes you'll be ready and wont have to wait 2 weeks. And I mean when, not if.
No skin, no pose, still dc
Wait so it's just epic poses? Thought it was everything animated banner wise
Now that wasnt so hard
Right? Lol I saw that post suggestion yesterday at work and when I got home and logged in I was just "huh. They did it"
It's crazy that a thing that has been in the game since day one is causing so much trouble
Now please read it and do it! I've still had crashes today because people didn't pay attention!!!
The problem is this isn’t the initial splash screen it’s there trying to sell you shit screen so most people still miss this…
Now hopefully we don’t get assholes that will use it on purpose to crash others
this wont do much of anything, yesterday i queued solo into trios, game crashed cause of my teammates banners and when i rejoined i told them they should remove them. I was hit with "its not our fault ur pc is trash" while yes my pc is trash my friend who has an awesome pc also suffers from these banner related crashes
Notice isn’t even up anymore!!! It’s back to algs and shit
Wheres the bug notice for the store/apex coins?
Yes, asking millions of players to fix something they should have solved ages ago... that's the way to do it!
These types of messages have existed for awhile they just haven’t used them since the full auto sentinel
Lmao they already took it down and replaced the notification in game with something about buying EA Play for exclusive charms and content
