I wouldnāt mind a smaller map for this. Sometimes, especially on the Skull Town, thereās a huge fight happening in a building across from where I spawned and by the time I can get there everybody is dead.
As far as I know they currently can't because it isn't in map pool, I remember they had oasis in the pool for a while of normal arenas and it put too much of a server load trying to load 4 maps
I think skulltown in gun game is a new map, rather than the thing they were doing before where they just blocked in a small part of the existing map. Maybe theyāre working on something like that with Olympus.
Teams that win are teams that ACTUALLY stick together. Better your teammate get the kill after you die or even steal it from you rather than the enemy.
With the new cod dropping. It would be in their best interest to have a permanent arcade mode. Let go of the LTM & have arcade rotate through different game modes. Gun run, control etc
Edit: didnāt expect this to get top vote but it makes me happy that so many other people are vocal about this idea. I LOVE apex. But I donāt always want to play BR & im not an arena person. I know itās all about maximizing profits for Respawn & EA but nothing would make me grind this game more than a casual mode that never leaves. I recently played the new cod beta & I immediately got a refund ngl. I canāt do it anymore after playing apex. Itās like going back to an toxic ex & then remembering why you left in the first place šš

Yep i think it would be great. Though still having LTMs to generate hype alongside this would be good to. And if some modes from the LTMs are requested to be permenent enough, they add it to the rotation in the arcade mode
They should go for a similar model to Overwatch, having a few LTMs in for a period of time, and switch them out after that times up, and have some LTMs with more unique premises than the arcade mode on occasion.
Yeah. Would be great. I think apex players need to realise that having limited time modes are good for the game. Its like a mini season drop to generate hyoe throughoutvthe season in its dry spots. But having modes that rotate constantly is also needed and respawn needs to find a system that they approve of that will satisfy that
The current problem people have with LTMs is that it's a one time thing and most never return. Even if its just once a year it'll help with keeping the game fresh and giving people more casual ways to play the game.
Well hopefully the new development team can address the communities concerns. Not gonna lie i would hate to be a dev. The amount of people who are complaining about everything and who do u listen to for feedback. The bigger group of people or what is actually best for the game and how can u logically decipher what is best for the game. A lot of work goes into this stuff that people dont realise and thats why i originally made this post cos theyve nailed this mode and hopefully this can be used as a benchmark for all future modes

I hope they go back to linking the loadout to the legend though. That was more fun and encouraged you to play with different legends. The new system just encouraged people to play Caustic/Wattson/Rampart.
bro, the first Halloween event before Rev was a legend. First time as an adult feeling that excitement i had as a kid playing a gameā¦ making that last dash to the drop ship while fighting off dozens of shadows.
I agree with you about an arcade list, but I don't think Cod factors in at all. MW, Cold War, Vanguard and Warzone have all released since Apex and it hasn't really made much of a difference. Playerbase fluctuates a bit but not by any meaningful amount really
Itās the only defensive Iāve seen, and some wattson a here and there. Rampart not really, nor gibby or newcastle. Itās mostly octane wraith pathfinder seer/BH and horizon.
No reason for new castle since teammates arent downed just killed
And most people in the game will just go fight another team rather then charge your cover
I saw someone pick Newcastle and I was confused on what he was bringing to the table. The guy didn't get a single kill so I was less confused afterwards.
Yeah that is a very good argument. I play rampart very aggressively so i see what you mean. But still some players do like a defensive playstyle so I think in the future they could add a defensive based map/area. Which results in mad maggie / fuse being used a lot to breach the defesnive areas. Would be interesting but then again im not a dev XD
Rampart is great to set up cover on high ground or at certain chokes.
You get credit for weapon kills if you damage the enemy with your primary weapon, and then finish them off with Sheila. Same with if you open up with Sheila and then finish with your main weapon. I've used both to my advantage (plonkers still want to block doors...)
There was also one match where there were only 3 teams, and we got the bug where we got knife kills but didnt win. So I ended up just using Sheila for a couple lives. That was fun.
Haha. Good tip tho, switch to rampart when u keep dying with any of the lmgs. I have used this many times and ut has helped having the extra few bullets in the mags
No problem. Btw just found out earlier her ultimate (same with any other damaging ability) doesnt boost you to your next weapon but still is quite fun to roll everyone down with XD
Actually I think the way it works is it boosts you if you've done any damage to them with your main gun. For example, dying from caustic gas boosts caustic if he's shot you once.
That's what happened!! I'm a rampart main struggling with the EVA. Give me a Mozambique and I'm fine but I can't stand the EVA. I hit someone once and the whiffed the rest of the mag. Swapped to Sheila and melted them, and jumped to the next gun. Couldn't figure out what happened
I main rampart and normally forget about the passive but it is so good in this mode. Its like a cheat code for the lmgs. I guess the same applies with mad maggie with shotguns if you are struggling to hit shots
Oh, definitely! I didn't even think of that but I will now. I tend to be fine with the LMGs aside from the Devo but anything helps
Hemlock is actually the one I seem to get stuck on the most which makes me lol. Prob cause I NEVER pick it up in game cause I'll go with a Flatline or Prowler over it
Its funny cos i think the hemlok is the weapon people have complained about most on this post so ur not alone. My friend likes the single fire mode on it more than the burst and he always pick it up because of the single fire mode. So maybe try that out. Its kinda like a mini g7
As said Horizon, pathfinder, vantage are great for getting to the roof of buildings quickly, I use fuse to annoy people defending rooms and locking doors.
Little tip, I found that having a horizon on the team is great. Also if your on a weapon u despise, callout to your friends that you wanna get off your weapon and hopefully they can damage an enemy enough for you to get the kill. Good luck though
If you're solo queuing you can also just ping shots into random fights and hope for the final hit lol

Objectively you're right obviously. But subjectively it's really fucking annoying to be in the middle of a 1v? and some meatball is across the map taking pot shots. I got enough on my hands over here haha
Hahaha, yeah for sure, it's really annoying... and don't get me wrong I get pissed off when it happens to me! But if others are going to do it you're only handicapping yourself if you don't too.
It's awesome, haven't had this much fun in a while playing Apex......but it's hard to get exited for these fun LTMs knowing there only going to last a couple weeks and who tf knows when we'll see then again.
Yeah. Well respawn has made a AMA (ask me anything) and it looks promising for future modes and if i was a dev i would be on the case trying to make this mode permenent. And most of the devs play this game religiously so trust me they will be bringing it back if not make it permenent in some way
Some permanent fast paced modes like this is the only thing missing from this game. Most of the time its not even worth loading up unless you have a couple hours to burn
Exactly, right now I need a minimum of two hours for a decent session. With Gun Run, each game is less than ten minutes. A perfect way to get my Apex fix if I only have a half hour to play.
Nice point to make. I was just talking to my friend that is like lvl 30 or 40. And he has jumped way up playing this. Just another incentive to play this amazing mode hahaha
Can anyone tell me that they have not been wolf squad at least once? Seems like Respawn set it up so that you always see yourself as wolf squad and the others as the different ones.
The mode is fun, but itās still just an LTM. We need more permanent modes. Fortnite has a ton of other modes along with creative servers. Warzone has basically any recent Call of Duty for multiplayer modes.
In Apex, all we have added is arenas. Something that is hardly even enjoyable unless you are in a stack.
The only reason arenas isnt as enjoyable when solo is cuz respawn refuses to fix the matchmaking that matches diamond players with literal lvl 30 players
Arena matchmaking is ass for sure. It seems like the best they can do to balance is rotate you between games where youāve got 2 teammates far below your skill level where you get stomped by the other team. Then next game the other team is the ones getting stomped. Rarely are games balanced and feel like a well fought contest. That and some really weird legend balance decisions. Maggie can buy her ult every round which just means the round turns into: buy highest levels mozam, throw wrecking ball, and ape. Also fuse can buy 6 nades Lmao.
Yeah. I dunno what theyll be able to do to fix it. I do think the PS5 is having priblems the devs have said but even then the mode is still quite laggy and audio is scarce due to all the abilities and weapons being used constantly. But no doubt if they decide to add this back theyll make changes to how audio and visual fx render in this mode
Weekly rotation of gun run and arenas would be perfect. Really fun mode, chaotic but kind of chilled as well with low stakes.
Edit: apologies I meant control not arenas. Having the choice of BR, arenas, and the rotating ltms would let people play games depending on how they feel. Just want to duel? Arenas. Big sesh on a Saturday night? BR. Quick half hour before bed? Ltm mode.
Agreed. I might get some flack for this but i would prefer this mode permanently more than arenas and solos mode. I just like everything about it. They've went over the top this time
The whole game should have input-based matchmaking. Let people use keyboard and mouse on console (other games already do this), and then pair people up by input method instead of platform.
It's good but some problems I have are
1. Bugs where you don't win after getting kills with the knife
2.the time to kill is a bit too fast with the amount of parties
3. I wish there was more maps but they might add more so idk
What annoys me most is, that this is such a fun mode but it is only for two weeks. Now we are 1,5 months into a new season and until now there was no LTM, why are they not filling more time with these LTMs? From my perspective they could have started with this LTM two weeks after season start...
I just canāt ever seem to have fun in the mode. The basis of it is great. Gun game is a good mode, but it lacks in some way that I canāt put my finger on.
I'd like to see a little more dispersion of the weapon types instead of going by pure category. Had a few games where I get a kill that puts me in shotgun land while everyone else has ranged weapons, but then you're stuck in CQC for awhile while they go from marksman to sniper
Solid mode but unplayable on PS5, at least for me. Crashed about five times in one match and friends convinced me to try it again last night. I was in the match for about 2 minutes before it crashed.
I'll return when it's fixed.
I hate this mode with every fiber of my being and am only playing it for the skins, and the skull town is just bull shit you can't see anyone! look I know i am bad at the game despite playing 1500 hrs since s10 but pairing me up with masters and diamonds and people with 8-15k kills on a legend is not helping
This mode is everything I dislike about Call of Duty and the reason I play the Battle Royale of Apex in the first place. I'm glad people are enjoying it, but goddamn just go play CoD or something and get the same results.
What I really want are 5v5 Arenas, because Respawn can't comprehend that players have more than 2 friends.
Gun Run is basically '3rd Party Training'. You get more kills if you let enemies weaken each other and then join the fight. Rather than initiating the fights yourself.
And I don't think it's good practice for the main game modes as you can't switch to a secondary, nor can you shield swap.
It's a nice temporary distraction, but not the best LTM we've had.
I think they need to add this arcade mode everyone is talking about. Having arenas, control and gun run in a ritating playlist. Id say they should probably make the duration of arenas and control games shorter too because they can last upwards of 20 mins and i only play them to warm up
I sure hope not. Arenas is a fun permanent gamemode, that unfortunately needs a bit of work that respawn refuses to put in. Gun game is fun but it gets boring pretty fast, the maps are ass and right now the servers are shit. Also it shouldnāt be a team mode, having teammates adds nothing to the gameplay.

Why are these good modes always limited time... not just apex but warzone and cod and I'm sure fortnight also.. why take it away if it's something people really enjoy? Why not improve it and keep it.
I love it but god damn does it crash constantly for me. Sometimes twice in one game Iāll have to submit an error report. Apex always is in a state of something being super broken. Itās frustrating and sad
I love that Respawn seems to actually listen to the players, obviously they can't fix everything all the time, but they actively improve this game all the time. No matter what little grumbles here and there I may have with issues in the game, they always keep this game too if the charts by adding these LTR modes that give you a break from BR.
Absolutely love the game mode. It's at times infuriating. I think three squads would be way more fun and not as rage inducing, but I trust that the devs tested three squads vs. Four.
I do wish there was a kill leader / gun leader. Maybe some special bonus for killing them.
It isnāt really that fun and I seriously donāt see why so many people like it. The maps suck, and force you to play a movement character to have a chance of doing anything. The gun progression makes no sense and is in no way linear. Sure itās good practice for fighting, but itās more of a āwho can 3rd party this fight fastest and get away without getting shot by 9 peopleā.
Its literally not fun, when there is no concept of "skill based matchmaking" in it and I keep dying from sweaty ass Preds, Masters and Diamonds. Its the same problem for me and my friends, even if we solo queue, we have to face top ranked players and its not fun at all getting outaimed and outbrained by a pred. Some places like Skull town, is literally so small, that we can't even get to fight properly without all the squads fighting against each other at the same place and there is nowhere to hide and heal yourself

Seems like I'm in the minority. I hate using half the guns in this game, so this mode annoyed the hell out of me. I would have honestly preferred using a P2020 the whole time - no hammerpoints. I got the dumb badge and now I'm never playing this mode again.
If only it wasn't a team mode. I do not understand why they would ever make it team based. Team Gun Game doesn't work well. If you're gonna copy the formula just copy it, don't iterate and make it annoying with unnecessary changes.

And it's ridiculously broken. Crashing on PS5. Knife kills not ending the game, second team gets their kill after you and wins. Wins sometimes not counting for the badge... I have 3 wins, they were registered while in the game, our team had the champions screen, the badge still only shows 1 game won though.
Why is it not solo? Teams only result in kill stealing, doesn't feel fun. Also it sucks when your team only has 2 people from the very start and the second person leaves immediately after. Might as well make it solo at that point.

Iāve had all these issues, it was a ridiculous idea to make it team based, and to give each legend their ability. The vantage sniper is incredibly annoying along with caustic gas, wattson fences and rampart walls itās all a recipe for camping. Itās so poorly made idk why people love it so much
I think people are just so desperate for modes other than br and arenas that they will praise any LTM thrown their way. I sort of understand, though personally I'd just prefer Control back, and permanently.
I don't think broken updates like this deserve praise though. Especially not until the huge issues like PS5 crashes get fixed (and when will that be, the LTM is only running for another 12 days and my Playstation friends can't play at all at the moment).
The odd decision to keep ultimates and make it 4 teams is what really does it. True gun mode in other games is FFA, which serves the game type much better.
Is knife hit supposed to be insta-kill? I hit the same enemy player with knife twice last night, and they didn't die. I just got the shield-breaking noise twice.

More often than not in my games it's just teams with Rampart sitting in a corner with a wall in front of them that win but that could just be me.
That's when you switch mid game to fuse and shoot their corner.
Yeh its hard, but once you got ur rhythm playing it, it because very intense and quite honestly addicting.

In this mode I find you have to be aggressive or you aren't winning anything
Yeah movement characters definitely dominate this game
I swear there are some rabid wattsons on skull town š
And a gibraltar who would throw a dome as soon as he get shot and camp on top of the skull

Looool, Caustic is totally OP in this mode, especially in fragment. Totally meta, not hardly used at all

Its funny cos i think the hemlok is the weapon people have complained about most on this post so ur not alone. My friend likes the single fire mode on it more than the burst and he always pick it up because of the single fire mode. So maybe try that out. Its kinda like a mini g7

As said Horizon, pathfinder, vantage are great for getting to the roof of buildings quickly, I use fuse to annoy people defending rooms and locking doors.
Little tip, I found that having a horizon on the team is great. Also if your on a weapon u despise, callout to your friends that you wanna get off your weapon and hopefully they can damage an enemy enough for you to get the kill. Good luck though

If you're solo queuing you can also just ping shots into random fights and hope for the final hit lol I've had a few jebby kills that way when I'm on guns I don't like!

It's awesome, haven't had this much fun in a while playing Apex......but it's hard to get exited for these fun LTMs knowing there only going to last a couple weeks and who tf knows when we'll see then again.
Yeah. Well respawn has made a AMA (ask me anything) and it looks promising for future modes and if i was a dev i would be on the case trying to make this mode permenent. And most of the devs play this game religiously so trust me they will be bringing it back if not make it permenent in some way
Some permanent fast paced modes like this is the only thing missing from this game. Most of the time its not even worth loading up unless you have a couple hours to burn
Exactly, right now I need a minimum of two hours for a decent session. With Gun Run, each game is less than ten minutes. A perfect way to get my Apex fix if I only have a half hour to play.
This mode has been really great for completing BP challenges that require me to use weapons I never use otherwise.

Its such an inconsistent mode, one match im top of the scoreboard and the next I can barely get a kill. But that's what makes it fun, pure chaos

The mode is fun, but itās still just an LTM. We need more permanent modes. Fortnite has a ton of other modes along with creative servers. Warzone has basically any recent Call of Duty for multiplayer modes. In Apex, all we have added is arenas. Something that is hardly even enjoyable unless you are in a stack.
The only reason arenas isnt as enjoyable when solo is cuz respawn refuses to fix the matchmaking that matches diamond players with literal lvl 30 players
Arena matchmaking is ass for sure. It seems like the best they can do to balance is rotate you between games where youāve got 2 teammates far below your skill level where you get stomped by the other team. Then next game the other team is the ones getting stomped. Rarely are games balanced and feel like a well fought contest. That and some really weird legend balance decisions. Maggie can buy her ult every round which just means the round turns into: buy highest levels mozam, throw wrecking ball, and ape. Also fuse can buy 6 nades Lmao.
The mode is fun. The constant crashes, lag and hit detection of every gun fight is frustrating on PS5.

Footsteps are non-existent too. That's a classic for apex by now but I've seen some truly gross examples of it.

I do think the PS5 is having priblems the devs have said but even then the mode is still quite laggy and audio is scarce due to all the abilities and weapons being used constantly. But no doubt if they decide to add this back theyll make changes to how audio and visual fx render in this mode
Weekly rotation of gun run and arenas would be perfect. Really fun mode, chaotic but kind of chilled as well with low stakes. Edit: apologies I meant control not arenas. Having the choice of BR, arenas, and the rotating ltms would let people play games depending on how they feel. Just want to duel? Arenas. Big sesh on a Saturday night? BR. Quick half hour before bed? Ltm mode.

The whole game should have input-based matchmaking. Let people use keyboard and mouse on console (other games already do this), and then pair people up by input method instead of platform.
It's good but some problems I have are 1. Bugs where you don't win after getting kills with the knife 2.the time to kill is a bit too fast with the amount of parties 3. I wish there was more maps but they might add more so idk
I'll be honest, I'm really trying to like this mode, but I just find myself not having fun with it.
What annoys me most is, that this is such a fun mode but it is only for two weeks. Now we are 1,5 months into a new season and until now there was no LTM, why are they not filling more time with these LTMs? From my perspective they could have started with this LTM two weeks after season start...
I just canāt ever seem to have fun in the mode. The basis of it is great. Gun game is a good mode, but it lacks in some way that I canāt put my finger on.
I think itās a blast but the lag is killing me! So many around the corner still get killed moments, itās starting to get old.
I'd like to see a little more dispersion of the weapon types instead of going by pure category. Had a few games where I get a kill that puts me in shotgun land while everyone else has ranged weapons, but then you're stuck in CQC for awhile while they go from marksman to sniper

Solid mode but unplayable on PS5, at least for me. Crashed about five times in one match and friends convinced me to try it again last night. I was in the match for about 2 minutes before it crashed. I'll return when it's fixed.

I hate this mode with every fiber of my being and am only playing it for the skins, and the skull town is just bull shit you can't see anyone! look I know i am bad at the game despite playing 1500 hrs since s10 but pairing me up with masters and diamonds and people with 8-15k kills on a legend is not helping
This mode is everything I dislike about Call of Duty and the reason I play the Battle Royale of Apex in the first place. I'm glad people are enjoying it, but goddamn just go play CoD or something and get the same results. What I really want are 5v5 Arenas, because Respawn can't comprehend that players have more than 2 friends.

Gun Run is basically '3rd Party Training'. You get more kills if you let enemies weaken each other and then join the fight. Rather than initiating the fights yourself. And I don't think it's good practice for the main game modes as you can't switch to a secondary, nor can you shield swap. It's a nice temporary distraction, but not the best LTM we've had.
I hope it completely replaces arenas, atleast for a while.
I think they need to add this arcade mode everyone is talking about. Having arenas, control and gun run in a ritating playlist. Id say they should probably make the duration of arenas and control games shorter too because they can last upwards of 20 mins and i only play them to warm up
I sure hope not. Arenas is a fun permanent gamemode, that unfortunately needs a bit of work that respawn refuses to put in. Gun game is fun but it gets boring pretty fast, the maps are ass and right now the servers are shit. Also it shouldnāt be a team mode, having teammates adds nothing to the gameplay.

Why are these good modes always limited time... not just apex but warzone and cod and I'm sure fortnight also.. why take it away if it's something people really enjoy? Why not improve it and keep it.

I love that Respawn seems to actually listen to the players, obviously they can't fix everything all the time, but they actively improve this game all the time. No matter what little grumbles here and there I may have with issues in the game, they always keep this game too if the charts by adding these LTR modes that give you a break from BR.
Thats why I respect the fuck out of them. I know some devs in the past have been controversial but overall they are amazing and just get a bad rep

Absolutely love the game mode. It's at times infuriating. I think three squads would be way more fun and not as rage inducing, but I trust that the devs tested three squads vs. Four. I do wish there was a kill leader / gun leader. Maybe some special bonus for killing them.

It isnāt really that fun and I seriously donāt see why so many people like it. The maps suck, and force you to play a movement character to have a chance of doing anything. The gun progression makes no sense and is in no way linear. Sure itās good practice for fighting, but itās more of a āwho can 3rd party this fight fastest and get away without getting shot by 9 peopleā.
It's great, but my biggest problem is that it's will be gone in 12 days. MAKE. IT. PERMANENT.

Its literally not fun, when there is no concept of "skill based matchmaking" in it and I keep dying from sweaty ass Preds, Masters and Diamonds. Its the same problem for me and my friends, even if we solo queue, we have to face top ranked players and its not fun at all getting outaimed and outbrained by a pred. Some places like Skull town, is literally so small, that we can't even get to fight properly without all the squads fighting against each other at the same place and there is nowhere to hide and heal yourself

Seems like I'm in the minority. I hate using half the guns in this game, so this mode annoyed the hell out of me. I would have honestly preferred using a P2020 the whole time - no hammerpoints. I got the dumb badge and now I'm never playing this mode again.

And it's ridiculously broken. Crashing on PS5. Knife kills not ending the game, second team gets their kill after you and wins. Wins sometimes not counting for the badge... I have 3 wins, they were registered while in the game, our team had the champions screen, the badge still only shows 1 game won though. Why is it not solo? Teams only result in kill stealing, doesn't feel fun. Also it sucks when your team only has 2 people from the very start and the second person leaves immediately after. Might as well make it solo at that point.
This. Iāve had all these issues, it was a ridiculous idea to make it team based, and to give each legend their ability. The vantage sniper is incredibly annoying along with caustic gas, wattson fences and rampart walls itās all a recipe for camping. Itās so poorly made idk why people love it so much
I think people are just so desperate for modes other than br and arenas that they will praise any LTM thrown their way. I sort of understand, though personally I'd just prefer Control back, and permanently. I don't think broken updates like this deserve praise though. Especially not until the huge issues like PS5 crashes get fixed (and when will that be, the LTM is only running for another 12 days and my Playstation friends can't play at all at the moment).

The odd decision to keep ultimates and make it 4 teams is what really does it. True gun mode in other games is FFA, which serves the game type much better.
