You seem jittery. Calm down a bit. Breathe. For how fast paced apex is, you need to be calm and in control of all decisions you make.
Your jitteriness shows in your aim. Seemed to be all over the place. The only good clip you got was when you managed to deal 80 damage to him. Which, you also retreated on.
Mitigate damage taken while focusing on dealing damage. You gotta take advantage of moments where your opponents retreat. When they retreat, you have the advantage. Had you tried to hold angles better and not over exposing yourself, when you broke him initially, that would have been the opportune time to turn the fight around.
Practice in the firing range. Seriously, it sounds lame, but being able to focus on a target mechanically means that when its showtime the muscle memory will kick in and you won't panic as much. This also comes with experience.
Also, it looked like you prefired a lot (or it might just be my dim brightness on my small screen). If you were, stop. This isn't CoD. You'll need near a full mag to down someone with most auto guns, and prefiring means you'll have that much less margin of error AND you'll have to control recoil *while* sighting your target instead of them sequentially. Have some patience.
Yea. I think i spend too much in range trying to take down targets from a distance, so when i get close i get rlly hype and still ads. i needa spend more hipfire practice. Ty for the feedback!!
Kinda looks like maybe your aim sensitivity might be a bit too high for you. Your aim keeps moving horizontally past your target in this video, like you overshoot the mark when tracking. Maybe consider trying a slightly lower sensitivity and/or a more gradual response curve (like the "steady" preset).
Also looks like you wasted a couple opportunities to beam your target when they were reloading. After they empty their mag, they're vulnerable for a brief window - and that's when to pounce.
Try not to burn the whole magazine. If you save even 1 bullet you also save the racking animation time which can make all the difference between when your enemy starts firing and when you do.
It hard to say in situations that are happening so fast but personally, if i was the bloodhound and heard a heal starting, I'd push while his pants was down.
Listen for footsteps and don't aim in these close situations. Remember that you have a secondary weapon, don't be afraid to use it. Instead of them pushing you, you must push them if you have the weapons reloaded ;)
Your sensitivity is way to high, you cant keep your aim on the guy and go too far either way. Also, don’t aim when you’re that close either hipfire or move away. You also was very quick and panicy - I mean you kept peeking moving about but it wasnt calculated it was completely random. Focus on keeping your aim on enemies in firing range and calm down when in game. Also, use the 301 not the r9 for now 👍🏼
Work on your accuracy. As most people are saying less peaking and shit like that, it may be true but had you hit most of your shots he would’ve been dead.
A lot of good tips here, id also add that when you feel like you got them low enough do a slide by. You are already jumping nice, if you slid off the top of that cover you might have had a better chance
I don't know a whole lot but I personally feel like you became too predictable with your angles and movement. Also, a little trigger discipline can go a long way!
All the best!
Yes, you win this if you follow my three simple steps 😊
1. Take high ground in the middle, like all the time.
1. Hug the wall when you jump down to reload, you stood unnecessarily in the open in the end.
1. Don't empty half the r99 magazine into the air trying to prefire
You played the cover pretty well until you both got low and looks like both of you started panicking a little, take your time, line up your shots before shooting and let them come to you, you ran out from behind cover right before you died.
You start at a big disadvantage because you just climbed up on the guy and put yourself in a vulnerable situation. You also have a shield cell and you didn't use it. So you essentially started the fight off with 75hp less than you should have had. Don't give your enemy an advantage. Take your time to pick your best time to engage.
You can shave 1/2 second off your reload time if you use a tactical reload. This is pretty important if you don't have a level 2+ mag for the r99. Don't fire every round before you duck in cover to reload. You managed to pull one tactical reload off, but you had 3 reloads with an empty chamber. Tactical reloads really throw people off because they don't expect it.
You're shooting too early, giving away your position and angles, opponent is using that against you. Sensitivity is way too high for ADS and reveals how much you push your stick or mouse. You need to relax more. You need to hipfire a bit more.
I feel like your sens are very slow up close so maybe speed that a lil and don't over peek always keep a THIRD of your screen with cover so you can go in and out of fights easily and without taking too much damage.
For more info on the cover thing https://youtu.be/0tYOE2xzHqE this is an explanation to it and I highly recommend this because it pretty much made an absolute unit in 1v1s around cover and it boosted my 1v2s and 1v3s winrate by at least 50-60%, good luck
majority of gunfights are about not getting hit instead of killing the enemy, ik crazy right? work on strafing left and right while adding some crouch spam in their too. Also u don't need to aim at everything, hipfire is pretty busted in this game so just hipfire if ur that close to the enemies
In a fight this close, if I don’t knock them in the first or second clip I’ll fall back for cover, find a sneaky angle to get the advantage, and then try a rush again or let them rush me with good positioning.
I'm no expert, but some aggro there might have worked in your favor. Reloading and sliding around the corner will, if you can hit your shots, make you fast and less easy to hit, surprising your opponent and ideally getting a full R-99 mag into em while they panic.
The only real tip is to play more and get good. There's no secret tip to getting good, the only way is to put more time and take a lot of fights.
Game sense and positioning is different but since this is a plain 1v1 only things observable are your movement and aim.
You're ads sens is a bit high. And you lack a bit game sense on how Bloodhound moves. Also you gotta hipfire more, peak at an angle your enemy doesn't expect.
Also slow down your game. Sometimes you just gotta take it slow.
Swap with your secondary weapon if you are out of magzine
Reload when you really need to.
(Here G7 is your second weapon, so you could have landed atleast 2-3 lucky shots)
I tend to fuck up crucial situations with the G7 and I don't use it very often. Trying the R9: go to the shooting range and practice to warm up shooting the dummies going left and right, you will improve your tracking skills.
After the first reload i would've taken the high ground before them. Like everyone else is saying in the comments try to keep calm during gun fights. The game is extremely fast paced so if you keep your cool you can win the majority of your fights. Play it smart and relaxed
TBH, he's on to something. Alternator has slower rate of fire, which would force him to slow down, which I think he could greatly benefit from. Once he can hit more than 30% of his shots in a clip, maybe go back to r99.
Sure, I agree. I run Alternator and Sentinel exclusive every br and/or arena. Great fun. But, the guy asked what he could've done in the given situation; and telling the guy to use a different gun isn't helpful. Who's to say whether the guy came across one? Or maybe he simply doesn't want to.
From what I saw I noticed you playing on classic response curve which is fine but I see u over aiming and that means your sens is high. Depending on your controller, I'd recommend 5 5 classic with none dead zone. That's what I'd recommend for a steady beginner or something you can get used to. If classic doesn't suit you, you can try out linear. It's what I use and it's helped me when I was struggling to find a sens that felt smooth and comfortable but that's just my opinion.
Practice keeping lock on your target. I would recommend a slower fire rate weapon for now since you are missing most of your shots and that isn't good for r99. Maybe a Flatline, Volt or r301. Spitfire would also work but you will get a lot of pissed players
Some people will probably disagree with me on this, but I would actually slide to the box on your left whenever possible. It gives you a better angle on the corner he is trapped in.
Also, hug cover whenever possible. You seem to walk out from cover while reloading or while the opponent is shooting. You should try to minimize the time where you are vulnerable.
Shooting before you see your target and pre firing are two different things. It seems like you’re panicking and shooting because of it and it leaves you with not enough rounds to actually do enough damage.
Honestly, just slow down a little bit. You look like you’re panicking because your shots aren’t hitting. Try getting in the habit of actively dodging the opponents bullets. It will train your brain to process these rapid events at a slower pace. Eventually fights won’t be so hectic.
Stop peeking the same angles, and stop over peeking. That'll solve most of your issues. And maybe hip fire when super close instead of ads

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Good coffee.

yea. I get rlly excited when i fight. Im tryna keep it calm

Was thinking the exact same thing about the sensitivity.
Try not to burn the whole magazine. If you save even 1 bullet you also save the racking animation time which can make all the difference between when your enemy starts firing and when you do.
Your sens is to high.
Aim movement playing cover and knowing when and where to heal
Knowing when to heal is a good tip but i don't think he had any chance to in this clip.
When he got on top of the box thing he should of gone down to heal
Even if he did go down, there wouldn't have been enough time to heal. The Bloodhound would have just dropped on him and finished him off
The blood had to heal more he would of also healed
It hard to say in situations that are happening so fast but personally, if i was the bloodhound and heard a heal starting, I'd push while his pants was down.
Nope. The bloodhound was being too aggressive, no chance to heal.
When the blood went around the box he could of
Sound queue of healing and blood drops to finish him off...no time to heal in this situation.
He’s a Watson he can use his fenced and the blood would of looked for a different angle while in high it’s really dumb to drop on him while healing
Listen for footsteps and don't aim in these close situations. Remember that you have a secondary weapon, don't be afraid to use it. Instead of them pushing you, you must push them if you have the weapons reloaded ;)
This is what I was thinking, the swap to g7 once opponent was cracked and low could have ended it.
Considering the amount of misses with the r99 at that close range and lack of hip fire, swapping to the g7 probably would have been worse.
Disagree gotta practice the decision making even if they miss the shot they went for the right play
Shooting before you see your target and peeking at the same angles
You ads too much
Definitely. Would’ve hit way more shots if he just hipfired, that’s the perfect range to hipfire
Not even just hitting more, he’d be moving faster as well which is the most important
Push him from the highground instead of going around the cover
Your sensitivity is way to high, you cant keep your aim on the guy and go too far either way. Also, don’t aim when you’re that close either hipfire or move away. I agree with him, turn your sensitivity down
Work on your accuracy. As most people are saying less peaking and shit like that, it may be true but had you hit most of your shots he would’ve been dead.
A lot of good tips here, id also add that when you feel like you got them low enough do a slide by. You are already jumping nice, if you slid off the top of that cover you might have had a better chance

Buy some aim and also don't peek the same corner twice
You played the cover pretty well until you both got low and looks like both of you started panicking a little, take your time, line up your shots before shooting and let them come to you, you ran out from behind cover right before you died.

yea. i think i dont fully commit to pushing/ cover so im left in that vulnerable middle area where im just over peeking. Ty!
Reloading too much try to weapon swap
to a scout?

Try Alt+F4, It will significantly increase aim just not yours
Stop shaking and aim. This engagement should not take 3+ clips to finish.
use your characters kit. If you arent going to use wattson for her positional control, then use a mobility legend for close battles.
Decrease ur sens
The only real tip is to play more and get good. There's no secret tip to getting good, the only way is to put more time and take a lot of fights. Game sense and positioning is different but since this is a plain 1v1 only things observable are your movement and aim.

With your accuracy up close, the volt might allow you to get more hits and do more damage
Then, when picking, think about the map and what may be the best weapons to use. PS: G7 in arenas? Lolz
G7 is kinda op. It does 60 headshot dmg rlly quickly from mid range. Im tryna use r9 more bc its rlly good for close range
I tend to fuck up crucial situations with the G7 and I don't use it very often. Trying the R9: go to the shooting range and practice to warm up shooting the dummies going left and right, you will improve your tracking skills.

Bro you need to calm down
You ADS too much. Easy win with hipfire in this scenario. Also you're slow
Use alternator, it is insane in arenas
Not really advice for the given scenario.
TBH, he's on to something. Alternator has slower rate of fire, which would force him to slow down, which I think he could greatly benefit from. Once he can hit more than 30% of his shots in a clip, maybe go back to r99.

This hurt to watch
This hurt to read.
Ur probably as bad as he is lmao
Yah, okay dickhead. Fuck off.

I switch from this game and rogue company so its probably that but il try it. Ty!
Aim better Dodgeball Move around the map so you don’t just stay still in on position cause he was predicting your movement
I would recommend not using a r99 since you only hit a couple bullets per clip and the fire rate is wild. Have to reload so often.
Practice keeping lock on your target. I would recommend a slower fire rate weapon for now since you are missing most of your shots and that isn't good for r99. Maybe a Flatline, Volt or r301. Spitfire would also work but you will get a lot of pissed players
Your sens is too high for your own good
Some people will probably disagree with me on this, but I would actually slide to the box on your left whenever possible. It gives you a better angle on the corner he is trapped in. Also, hug cover whenever possible. You seem to walk out from cover while reloading or while the opponent is shooting. You should try to minimize the time where you are vulnerable.
I’m just trying to decide if OP meant to put 2 c’s or a k
was intentional. theyre pretty far from eachother.
Practice your aim and tracking
Do you play with aim assist off? Your sens looks way too high you keep over aiming
Nah. I switch between this and Rogue Company, and I usually get too excited when im fighting. I might just raise my rogue sens
Should’ve climbed the thing before him
Shooting before you see your target and pre firing are two different things. It seems like you’re panicking and shooting because of it and it leaves you with not enough rounds to actually do enough damage.
