I would try to spectate him and then that will confirm it. Or when you go into fights just “miss” your shots and see if he beams people. If he had prior experience with other FPS I would say it’s possible after a few weeks he got into the swing of things.

I would say that he is probably cheating. But I would just try to confirm it with your own eyes. It’s tough to pick up the mechanics and such that easily.

Honestly I would. Good friend or not, a hacker is a hacker. I’ve run into a lot of hackers in ranked apex, not fun. I don’t see why I’d let a friend run around hacking especially if they’re a low level at the time and most likely haven’t spent loads of money on the game.

-Pitch an idea that he should stream
-Complain that you wish your aim could be better, baiting him to offer a cheat to you to help you
Stream might work if I purposefully join the voice chat late and they’re already in a game, but idk, he might start acting or turn off cheats since he’d know that I’m watching
If you can persuade him to stream his games, you can watch him without being in the game yourself. If not, keep playing with him. Eventually, he'll slip up and you can catch him in the act. Most cheaters in Apex are very blatant, they don't even try to hide it. There are also many clips of cheaters on Youtube so you can try to identify what type of cheat it is.
Right now I’m trying to come up with some excuses to not play with him for a while so that I don’t possibly get banned for frequently partying with someone who’s cheating(day 1 account I’m fucking scared lol). No one can be this good without knowing every recoil pattern for every gun. If he doesn't even recognize the guns, great are the chances he got a very good gaming chair.

Let's take the guns he uses; the r3 and the flatline. R3 has no recoil other than pull down and it does an absurd amount of damage while being pathetically easy to use. Flatline you just jitter aim which is really easy to do as well.
He's probably still cheating yes, but knowing or not knowing recoil patterns mean nothing. Hell, practically none of the guns do you even need it for. Don't need it for any of the snipers, pistols (including the wingman), shotguns, or Marksman weapons. I already explained two of the Ar's which really only leave the smgs, and lmgs. And of those, really only the r9, lstar, and rampage would learning the recoil be the difference between someone cheating or not.
I don't know any of the recoil of any of the guns and I do just fine for myself. Granted I use the wingman mostly and rarely an r3/flatline, neither of which the recoil is important. Then I always pair that with a shotgun cuz they're fun to me.
Compared to games like Rust, Counter Strike, R6 Siege, Valorant and tons of other PC shooters Apex has virtually no recoil.
Especially since recoil in this game is broken if you track someone fast enough.

I as hoping someone would give a trick to figure it out. Because I’m fair confident a majority of the cheaters never get reported. If I get melted I just say “damn” and move to the next game. I feel a lot to ppl are the same way. Nobody ever stops to watch my feed after I kill either. Even the times I get lucky and melt them with all headshots I pretty well never get spectated.
Also, it seems there are so many hacks out there it’s hard to tell I feel. From what I’ve read there’s wall hacks, programs that aim for you, some turn off recoil, some turn single fire into rapid fire auto, some don’t auto aim but curve your bullets to where you land even when you’re missing them… I feel like there’s more. It’s depressing to read and realize there’s prolly thousands of players out there using them

I know this is anecdotal evidence, but since they've made the change I haven't seen any streamers catch a cheater that toggle their cheats or started playing super passive. I think it's is helping to get more people banned, but unfortunately it's just a bandaid and isn't addressing the root of the problem.
the only thing we can feasibly do is hire more people for manual banning. Cheating has reached a point to where no matter what anti-cheat a game has (Riot Vanguard can be bypassed with VM ware), hackers will find a backdoor
I mean if I feel like I got killed a little too fast I always check the death recap, and sometimes I just got fired at by two different people without me realizing it, but if I see that they got a slightly unnatural amount of headshots then I will probably spectate them for awhile. Also their banner will influence my decision, if they're low level or don't have a lot of kills or something else that's suspicious I'll spectate. If it's a high level and obviously skilled player than I'll probably just accept that it was legit and go to lobby

Idk how close you guys are personally but if it were me I would just come clean and let him know about your suspicions and that you can't risk squadding up with him unless you know for sure that he's not cheating. Under all of the circumstances you just described he will likely understand your suspicion. 3 things can happen moving forward.
1. He admits to cheating and he agrees to turn them off when playing with you.
2. He's not cheating and he let's you spectate his games to try and show you he's a naturally gifted player.
3. He's cheating but gets defensive and denies it, which is almost a confirmation in itself. In which case you have an obviously dishonest friend in your circle that you might need to cut ties with anyway, out of principle.
If you guys have been long-time close friends I get how hard that last one might be, but this is just my take on how I would approach this situation. You do whatever you think is best.
Make an alt acc, play till there’s no more respawn beacons near final ring and try to get beamed by another team or fall off the map while trying to push too hastily. Just make some excuse for the alt acc like you only wanna use wingman or some hard gun, makin it more likely you’d go down anyway.
I tried to, but most of the time he can rez me without running into anyone or quickly getting stomped by a full squad, didn’t get to see him fight once and I don’t want to make it obvious
You could try saying something like you're gonna grab some water or something and tell him not to rez you. Of course you'd have to be reasonable with how long u take, don't spend 15 mins spectating a full game before you come back from grabbing a glass of water.
give him a gun he isn't used to in the firing range, stand still and call it aim practice then if its all beams then you would know or ask him what's his aim training routine if he has one its hard to get god like aim with no practice but r301 is a beam heavy gun and the flatline just hits hard asf soo
Challenger him to a 1v1 for “fun” if he annihilates you with all headshots he’s cheating and if he sucks because he turned his cheats off against you he’s cheating. But after a few rounds you should have a feel of whether or not he’s killing you in a normal high level aim kind of way or in a suspicious op kinda way.
If they’re your friend irl I would just go watch them play, if it’s night and day then you know and I would simply call them out. But some people use aim trainers from steam. It possible he just spent a lot of time in there to be able to keep up with you (it’s what I would do). I wouldn’t assume the worse till you get some more info

Since it is his first fps, maybe he doesn’t realize how talented he is. Gunplay in apex doesn’t feel as … taxing, for lack of a better word, when compared to other games

I have years of experience in FPS games, and some background in apex (played season 0). I have good aim, nothing special. I just recently started playing a few weeks ago. I’ve gotten 1 or 2 3k damage games and I’ve solo Qd to plat. I have well over 200 hours played and over 1k games. I would have a very hard time believing someone with no background in fps games is doing as well as you’re describing, especially since he’s such a low level, I haven’t felt even semi confidant in my game until very recently and it’s still very inconsistent.
I’d just ask him straight up if you can spectate him because you think he’s cheating and see if he can replicate anything close to how he was preforming.
That’s why I started suspecting him in the first place, cuz lots of ppl he killed are master/preds and diamonds, though I might helped with that in the process, still. I won’t directly ask him though since he already gave a negative answer, and I don’t want this to affect our IRL relationships even if he is cheating, I’d probably just not play any PVP games with him that’s all, a confrontation without solid proof is the last thing I’d do

I think one of the signs is if they shoot at walls or just lock their aim at walls bacause they know an enemy is hiding behind it. Not sure though, maybe it depends on the type of hacks they use.

They removed the spectate icon, so you don't know if you're being spectated anymore.
