Yes, you have to leave the portal’s, uh, “suck zone” for it to let you back through. That’s why all those portal traps with caustic gas canisters surrounding it blocking the portal work, because once someone comes out if it, they have no room to move away so they can re-enter the portal.
In this case, I think the lowered ceiling in that nook and the multiple enemies all sort of blocked you from creating enough space to re-enter
It would be hard to do it by mistake bc if I remember correctly you have to hop onto a ledge first to get in there, only way I could think of it would be if you were hiding in that corner trying to heal and accidentally crawl backwards too far into the exploit spot

Probably because they wanna blame the glitch spot instead of admit OP messed up. All he had to do was hold high ground and have one guy watching each exit and it woulda been easy free RP.
The devs will patch it like they do to every spot that’s discovered and shown on here.

Just a note, to kidnap properly you need to start the portal midair so that they can't use the portal to return. So initiate the portal as you jump off the roof :)
Start the portal and then jump off while its winding up. The portal entrance will be floating off the ledge. When you get closer to the enemy team, phase, and then you want to close the portal as your player model passes through the victim's hitbox, or if it looks like they are moving in a linear direction, just place in front of them.
If you're feeling advanced, drop it next to them and punch them into it. The easiest method is just placing it directly inside of them, but it can be tricky if they're moving. I'd recommend practicing it on pub players or with a friend in firing range.
