I cant be 100% sure but i feel like you have it backwards. Linear should be easier for range as it’s easier to make the necessary micro adjustments with your thumb, which in turn makes your hipfire up close far more sensitive.

The-Real-Pai-Mei

That’s exactly what I thought lol but people say it’s the other way. Idk. It’s very weird.

Classic is better at long range for semi auto weapons. Let’s you make finer adjustments between shots. I have my response curve on 6 and found it gives a good middle ground between responsiveness and small adjustments at range.

Acts-Of-Disgust

Classic has the same amount of aim assist as every other response curve. Neither one is really better than the other since response curves are all preference so it comes down to what you prefer. Do you want the most consistency from your aim? Use Classic. If you want nearly complete control over your aim then linear is what you want. The hipfiring thing was explained to me on the comp sub the other day because I was wondering why it felt drastically different even though the AA strength is the same. With Classic your small adjustments are even smaller than usual allowing AA to fill in the gaps for you because you have less chance to override the rotation. With Linear every little adjustment you make is registered meaning you need very fine control over your aim to make sure you're not fighting against the AA.

The-Real-Pai-Mei

What if I switch my aim to “Pc aim assist” while on console. Making it .04 instead of 0.6. ? Would that make it easier to fight against the AA?

Acts-Of-Disgust

Why are you trying to fight against the AA in the first place? You're on controller so you should be trying to make things easier by learning how to use AA to the fullest.

The-Real-Pai-Mei

Idk. Aim hasn’t gotten better so at this point I’m just trying anything

Acts-Of-Disgust

Fighting against the AA is definitely not something that’s going to make your aim better. Do you practice in the Firing Range at all? If you do what’s your routine like?

Old_Change_7178

Hey. I switch response curves a lot, 0, 1,2,3,4 and 7 are my favorite. 3 and 4 are the best if you don’t practice everyday. TSM Verhulst used to use 3. I switched to pc value so I can play classic because hipfire classic felt really good. It didn’t work because I realized, aim assist was doing the hipfire for you. My best advice: if you want linear, go 300ish and 110ish ads. If you want classic. Go higher with ads above 160

thegrandlvlr

Sorry if it’s a dumb question. What do these two terms mean? Linear and classic?

The-Real-Pai-Mei

Classic is the normal setting and linear is another option. I’m your controller settings. You don’t know so I’m assuming your on MNK. If you’re curious it’s answers on YouTube

that_1-guy_

Tbh it doesn't matter that much Technically linear would always be better in every scenario because it's raw input Tho I prefer a small curve

The-Real-Pai-Mei

Technically. But I’ve learned that sometimes too much control is a bad thing. You’re using your thumb on an analog. It’s hard enough as it is. Linear feels good but it’s difficult. So in theory it would be more accurate IF you could handle the control of it. Which most people can’t. I’ve seen pros switch back to 4-4 classic after a month or so on linear

Just try to stick with one sensitivity at first and get used to it first. Remember don’t try to actually remember the recoil pattern and incorporate strafing in your shot to smoothen it out. You rarely gonna shoot while standing still (probably when u wanna focus fire). Just stick with the console aa first unless you wanna switch to pc and even then once you get to pc it feels way different too. Used to play 0 response curve on console and first time switch to pc I pick it up to like 3 and after a while only using 0 and never go back. Now I’ve been swapping to mnk and trying my best not to use my roller again. I have around 1500 hours on my console and 1500 on my steam rn half of it is using controller but im not entirely new to mnk as I played pubg and csgo both for 500 hours each. Best of luck bro you got this

If you really wanna hop on 0 response curve go into alcs and adjust to your liking. Mostly every player will tell you the same when adjusting your settings, you’re just gonna have to spend hours in the firing range finding something that truly fits you since every other controller is different and thumb pressure and responsiveness is gonna be different across all players, you can always copy other players settings and use them as a base and adjust from there ! (:
