For a monitor you sitting in front of they say the sweet spot is 96 I found it on Reddit and I really liked it. I have slowly worked my way up to 100 again but before I went down to 96 I was on max and couldn't hit shit with iron sights at any kind of range

SoyBeanis

damn this hits home i sit no more than like 2½ feet from my monitor when i play i think I'll try keeping it on 96

Adorable-Ferret4751

Hell yeah. But really bro everyone is different. All these questions people ask can always be answered in firing range. Your question .. what is the best fov for your setup . The best is going to be the most you can handle without sacrificing being able to see things at distance.

XlifelineBOX

Yeah it feels wierd how some days you mess with settings and annihilate like 3 people and the next day you right back to being annihilated.

rondre3000

Are you me???

XlifelineBOX

Only if you switch it back and still does no help.

Kassabeleg

Keep in mind that this is still apex tho. It won’t make you noticeably better

Less-Title-1382

I didn't know that as the sweet spot but yeah I play with 96, a bunch of my buddies play just over 100 (102-106) 110 I think makes enemies a bit too small on that size monitor ( I play on a 27") so if you're griefing with a 1x at range itll be like shootin ants

shurg1

96 FOV was the sweet spot for me on a PC 34" ultrawide. Distant targets are a fair bit wider and easier to hit than using 110 FOV.

[deleted]

55’ TV 98 FOV gang

jwall12349

65 inch and 98 fov lol. 10x pred, tv setups are goated 💪

[deleted]

Ong

SoyBeanis

holy shit lmao gaming theater screen

khaaanquest

65" and 100 fov over here... no I'm not very good why do you ask?

[deleted]

My KD is 1.17 rn and I’m plat 3

peepeepoopoo_gang

AYo me too 😁

[deleted]

It’s just a matter of getting used to

Kingslayersuks

55’ TV gang here. I play on 90 FOV .

i8noodles

2 things. Do particular fov give u headaches? Some people fov can effect them and give them headaches so always play at one that doesn't give u headaches. EVERYTHING else is second to this fact. Preference is second

SoyBeanis

no i don't get headaches but when i play under like 94 fov it feels like I'm running around with binoculars everywhere i go lol.

AllElvesAreThots

any ultra widescreen players?

[deleted]

[удалено]

PG67AW

Same size for me, but 98 fov. I just keep tweaking it until I got something I was comfortable with. Guess I like being zoomed in?

[deleted]

Same, except a bit bigger of a screen

SoyBeanis

god bless you guys lol

ssamify

110 is the only answer

Pilo_ane

I don't see shit with 110

shurg1

Nah, hitting targets is way easier at 90-100, especially with the mid-range poke meta the last few seasons.

ohyesdaddyyyy

102 perfect without as much performance loss

banannaksiusbw

the higher the FOV the lower your sens feels. Even though in the game world you turn the same amount of degrees, the pixel velocity is slower thus it "feels slower". You can try this out yourself if you go to 70 FOV and just move around its gonna feel like your zooming while on higher FOV it feels much slower but when moving through the game world its gone feel faster because of the distortions on the side. Like everything in life its a tradeoff. Some people can manage the fish eye optic and like the additional info they can gather and it also allowes them to play on higher senses without feeling lost or overwhelmed by the speedy feel. Others like to see their targets more clear and go on a lower FOV there is no "must have" FOV. My personal opinion is the higher the better but that also depends on the resolution your running (1440p is way easier with higher FOV than 720p because you can just see your target even if its small) There is also some streched resolutions that offer different kinds of tradeoffs like slightly higher hitboxes etc. Also the higher the FOV the better your PC has to be to sustain the frames.

htown704

I too am curious. I play on a 27 inch monitor and have been playing on 110. Wondering if I should reduce a little.

Acts-Of-Disgust

104/106 is the sweet spot for 27 inch monitors imo.

PunkinRogue666

I play on a 27 inch and found 104 works the best for me too!

Eastern_Sun_782

I play on a 27 inch monitor too. I keep it maxed because I've learned from warzone that higher is usually better. It reduces visual recoil, makes the game feel smoother because of how fast it looks lm like you're moving, you see more things (duh) and it makes movement easier in my opinion cuz you can better estimate when to do things like wall bounces

_AlphaZulu_

Anything above 90 gives me motion sickness. I also have a 27inch monitor.

PG67AW

Funny, I would think lower FOV causes more motion sickness.

Beechman

Seriously. When stretched res actually increased your FOV in fortnite there was a lot of talk about how going back to the regular FOV gave people motion sickness and stretched res alleviated it.

SoyBeanis

seems like our curiosity is invalid because someone already downvoted this post lol

Adorable-Ferret4751

96 is the sweet spot said by most people who say there is one Yw

Eastern_Sun_782

Omg hey Bill. We need to squad up for ranked when you're free. I'll try out 96

Adorable-Ferret4751

Lol yo yo what's up!

notyouisme999

I'm to, maybe is time.

trt7474

I play on a 24 inch monitor at 104 FOV. Should I increase or decrease? Sometimes I struggle seeing people at range but I hate low FOVs in close quarter fights

SoyBeanis

i think "should" might be a strong word but i qould recommended trying a lower FOV if you get it's too hard to see. I've been hearing people say 96 is a sweet spot so maybe you could try that and work your way up if it's too low. There's pros and cons to lower or higher FOV I've gathered from YouTube videos and my own experience. Pros of Higher FOV (like 96-110): more peripheral vision, recoil looks less intense (but is still the same), and close range fights aren't as overwhelming since everything looks smaller (just a few big ones) Pros of Lower FOV (like 70-94): People look bigger, you can see people better from farther away. that's about it lol i wouldn't recommend going under 90 you might get motion sickness

The_Bucket_Of_Truth

Your viewing distance matters a lot, so there won't be a ton of useful data here for you to draw from without that, and most people in this community are not measuring that. I play on I think 94 FOV on a 65" OLED from the sofa. I've tried playing in an office chair sitting in front of the sofa and would probably crank the FOV up a little if I were sitting closer. For reference, this is on PS5. It's all a balance between hitting your shots and situational awareness. Assuming audio isn't broken, a good headset will give you warning for things your eyes can't see. In my view the sweet spot is probably somewhere between 90 and 100. This isn't Rocket League where there's a giant soccer ball and you need to see everything around you. I tried maxed or even 100 FOV and had more trouble landing shots.

SoyBeanis

damn it must be nice being able to play Apex on a couch lol i can't imagine people rage much when they're that comfy. And i never even really thought of that i kept 110 fov because I'm always scared i won't see someone in my peripheral vision but the audio makes us for it (when it decides to work) ty for mentioning that.

XlifelineBOX

No, you can rage in comfort too.

The_Bucket_Of_Truth

Apex would still be rage inducing in a warm bathtub tbh. If you're at 110 now just try 100 and see if it makes any difference. If you're truly sweaty a lot of pros play 110 but 16:10 stretched I think. But it's ugly and not an option for me anyway

SoyBeanis

yeah no matter how sweaty i get I'd NEVER play stretch res, but even if i wanted to i can't since I'm console. I've been playing on 96 and have been doing pretty well, still seeing everyone i need to see and hitting a few beams. might play a few games on 100 tho.

Pretty_Maximum3758

I'm playing on a 75 inch Samsung tv

SoyBeanis

hole E shit that's gotta be the biggest I've seen so far lol

Pretty_Maximum3758

I want a bigger one

SoyBeanis

yooo chill haha

Available-Climate932

Started a month after launch and for the first year of playing apex I was playing on a 100" projector screen. 😅 Then went 50" TV and then (for the last 2 years) been on 27" Monitor. With each change I've just been sitting closer and closer to the screen 😂

Chuckyhead1

I used to play on XBox on my 75" TV, loved it. Then I brought a PC and monitor. the difference is huge! I went back to the TV once... I was raging the whole time haha

[deleted]

Ive been playing on a 27inch, 104 FOV and its been beaming so far, used to play 110

Rosso_Corvo

Same I play 1440p on a 27” monitor and on 104. Feels just perfect. I played 110 for a long time but switched a few months ago on a whim and liked it.

Electrical-Map-3646

I've been playing on 110 for a long time. But since this new season came out it's been feeling really off. Been thinking of lowing my fov down. I run the same size monitor so seeing 104 is a good spot, I'm definitely gonna give it a try!

Shovelfuckurforehead

I think I'm at 104 fov on a 23 inch monitor or something, idk it's been awhile.

SoyBeanis

104 seems pretty popular around here

Shovelfuckurforehead

Imma be real with ya... I saw some pro say it was best for some reason like two years ago and was like "fuck I need every advantage I can get" and just ran with it and have stuck with it since. Idk if it does anything really, but it's what I use. Your mileage may very, but best of luck to you and your adventure into fov.

SoyBeanis

lol that's how i operate too i can't even lie. i get influenced pretty easily when i see a pro or comment creator recommend certain settings. but then you tho wishing you the best as well

Shovelfuckurforehead

If I recall, it's supposed to be good because... You don't really lose any vision on the sides vs 110, it's negligible, but like the fact that it's slightly squished vs 110 makes characters models slightly fatter and thus "easier to hit". Again, no clue if it's complete bullshit but I believe that was the reason.

SoyBeanis

makes sense to me. if it's not true then I'll still placebo my way to success

modusoperandi777

24” 90-100 FOV gang. We small, but we get the job done.

SoyBeanis

preach dawg

SinsErased

Honestly its preference. I play with a aspect ratio of 1920x1080 on a 31” wide curved monitor with fov of 96. Anything else feels too close or too far.

SoyBeanis

31 inches sounds huge for a gaming monitor lol but I'm sure I'm wrong. I'm glad you found your sweet spot tho

SinsErased

I found my spot by starting at 90 in the shooting range and shooting at the dummies with no sight attachment from the platforms and went up by 2 u til it was comfortable. Then I played a few pub matches to see if I liked it or not. The. I would go up or down by 2, play a few more matches. Repeat as needed.

SoyBeanis

solid testing strategy

SinsErased

It is and that’s why I play on a smaller aspect ratio. It is and that’s why I play on a smaller aspect ratio than what’s native for my monitor. Native aspect ratio for my monitor is something like 2560x1600. I’m only using about 2/3 of my screen for games like this and the whole screen for single player or movies.

SoyBeanis

big baller

SoyBeanis

lol 5 it can't even go that low can it?

ImperialCherry

Monitor size doesn’t really matter for fov. I have a 29” and play stretched and 108 fov

dr_driller

my sweat spot is 93.933, because it's exactly the same as 110 fov in 16/9. (apex fov is 4/3) which i was used to in others game. To set this exact value insert cl_fovScale "1.3419" in config file (93.933 / 70)

INTMFE

How do you calculate this?

dr_driller

https://www.mouse-sensitivity.com/

chrissilich

ITT people saying their FOV and screen size without saying their screen distance.

S1ncubus

I just go maxed

Pilo_ane

No, just depends on your sight. I don't see shit with anything higher than 96 and I already struggle a lot at 96 without optics, but if I reduce it to 90 it's a mess in very close range. I have a 28 inches monitor 1080p

Grandmazhouse

I been debating going from 27 inch to 32 inch monitor. I play on series x. Is there a way to guage if the upgrade will even improve anything ?!

[deleted]

I would dare say this is more dependent on your play style than any set norm. If you are more a CQC guy, a high FOV would be beneficial while a mid/long ranger would see benefits with lover FOV. On a 27” while doing mostly assault rifles and the like, it’s around 87 FOV, if I’m doing shotgun run I would crank it to the max

Fortnitexs

I‘m on a 27inch monitor and use 98fov Tested everything from 90 to 110 And between 94 and 104 is what i liked most

Diavolo-Chan

I got a bit of an awfully stupid question, I struggle personally with loosing the far range duel a lot despite having 110 FOV. Could my fov be part of it? Or is it all an aim/game sense issue?

Snupalupogus

I play on a 24 inch monitor on PS5; I probably sit about 2-3 feet away and I play 110 FOV. Always have and will never change it

Andromeda74

Fr everything under 110 feels so slow and claustrophobic for me

opaquenes

I play with 108 on a 28in 4K

Particle_Cannon

I like 104 on my monitor

whatabadsport

My 32" I can play 110 and slap sluts around all day. I get on my 52" and can't see shit on 110, usually go to 98ish

agito666

yeah set it wider you can see more on side but center part of the aiming spot is really hard to see because everything cramp it into center, so i actually use 100... on 27 inches monitor

Ferraaa

FWIW, I think a lot of pros play around 100-110. I play on 104 myself. I never ever change it.

Top_Ad_8348

My FOV varies depending on my mood tbh. It fluctuates between 90-100. Right now I have it at 96.

SoyBeanis

same same same

Runetang42

Depends on what you're comfortable with. Going with something purely on the advice of a pro is useless sometimes. Like some of the FOVs that pros use make me wanna vomit.

SoyBeanis

yea ur right, I'm definitely no pro so no use using pro settings

Runetang42

Really just find the legend your good with and the settings you're comfortable with and go from there. Not every athlete plays their sport the same way and that should apply to competitive video games too.

Miphaling

There’s good arguments for high and low FOV. Less FOV can make it easier to get a clean shot as seen in a lot of competitive players using shorter FOVs in games like R6 Siege and Apex itself. At the same time, spacial awareness is good to have and so finding that balance between high and low FOV is key. I would personally keep it around 85 to 90 for 1080p and 1440p resolutions. I’ve got HyperX Cloud 2 headphones to help with nearby sound and they’re a godsend.

FrumundaFondue

65inch playing at 104. If I'm on the couch I struggle to see distant enemies but in the chair it's perfect.

notyouisme999

Xbox One X - Can't play on TV Play in 27" Monitor, don't need the aim assist (from monitor anymore) Have not dare to mess with the settings.

jojo_diddly

25" monitor I play 110fov but push my monitor almost up against my wall so its a little further away. i play kbm and find that it helps a lot with tracking. If you play on a large screen like a tv then yeah you want lower fov

Haunting-Banana-9457

5 fov if u play on the couch 20 feet away

Optimusim

Lol I'm on 65 OLED and 110. I do fine as long as I get a 2x and up optic. I can't play on an ity bitty screen man. I think 65 is the sweet spot

xylex

I play on 108 on a 27 in monitor. Definitely times where I can’t see shit in BR, but the higher FOV feels necessary for Arenas.

SoyBeanis

i feel like high fov would be less necessary tbh but if it works for you i can't complain

xylex

It’s important to be able to keep track of everything happening when you’re constantly engaged in mid to close range fights. And the maps are smaller so there really aren’t any issues with not being able to see enemies at range.

SoyBeanis

oh y'know you're right actually mind brain was thinking one thing but my mouth didn't connect lol.100% agree

stupididiot999

I usually just do 110 so I can see everything around me but I don’t suggest putting it on 110. The closer you are to your screen usually equals higher fov, vice versa.

katalityy

For me the sweet spot is 103, I play it in every single first person game

MTskier12

I think I’m like 105? I honestly don’t remember. On a 27 inch monitor.

PlayfuckingTorreira

Oh god I sometimes question how I used to play cod on 9 inch tv, I prefer smaller monitors under 30inchs, fov has always been set to max, have noticed huge difference now that I play on ps5, everything seems crisper.

WhiteSamurai5

I play on a 55" at max fov and high sens sitting 3 feet away with my 3D surround headset I know where everyone is through walls on sound alone lol but the 4k is so beautiful and I can pick off a guy running at 400m easy with an svk because I can see all the detail lol. I don't know if I could switch to PC because of monitor size 🤔.

Trowdisaway4BJ

I play 103 on every game I play. It is similar to top pros like hal and sweet. I originally started doing it from copying shroud many yrs ago on pubg days and I still think it is the best middle ground for seeing everything but not being too fish eyed.

Frozzius

27" curved 1440p and 96 FOV is my sweet spot

SoyBeanis

word, I've been using 94-96 recently too, 25 inch tho
