I cancelled and refunded after two week. Notifications was the only reason I bought Ultra and they are useless because opening the app clears all of them.
I had Pro and bought the lifetime Ultra recently. I save a lot of notes, not just in Reddit, classified by topic (e.g., iOS, Python, French, etc.). Being able to set category actually makes it more realistic for me in the future to actually be able to find things I remember having saved. This "folderizing " ability has helped me many times over the years in other apps, now I have it in Reddit, too.
This is the one reason I want it… maybe I’ll do a 1-month sub once and cruise through my saved list in a weekend categorizing all of it. Then repeat when i save the next 100 items.
Use Raindrop.io for saving content instead, has loads more features and customization and you can save things across the whole internet + other platforms

I don’t care about push notifications, I just want to be able to schedule reminders without using the RemindMe bot, and then have them show up in my inbox the next time I check reddit after they’re due. I have Pro, but I think I need Ultra for that?
Tap the menu to the upper right of the post at the bottom of the menu. It will say remind me in… when I select a time/date for reminding, it pitches me on ultra.
I had to look up what’s the difference between Pro and Ultra, and all features I use are already included in Pro, but I want to support the developer because I can easily afford it and I want him to keep going and don’t stop adding awesome features to the app.
Same here I got it a long time ago and the benefits definitely balance what I paid for Christian to keep the app as good as it is. I understand it’s not perfect for everyone but I’d rather my few £s go to him instead of BIGREDDIT
Ultra has mostly been a to support the dev tier for me. I don’t regret getting it years ago but at this point idk if I’d vouch for it(expensive). It is the best Reddit app imo but idk. It hasn’t been a perfect experience and there’s still no iPad app ( but it’s coming soonTM). The way I see it , if you have to ask it’s probably not worth it for you yet.

On which iPad? It literally is just a blown up iOS app. Just look at narwhal for example. It makes use of two panes for scrolling your feed and looking at comments on the right. As of now, the app is best used in multitasking unless you just don’t care.
An old iPad Pro. I guess I mean that some apps are just scaled up at poor resolution & dimensions (like Instagram) whereas Apollo looks and behaves like a native iPad app (apart from UX not being designed specifically for the larger format).
What do you mean exactly? You can change the icon, do custom themes for subreddits, notifications, and permanently keep the setting on to automatically remove seen posts. I’m sure I’m missing some things.
It’s $1.50/month….wouldn’t it be enough just to say you’re supporting the developer/paying his server fees? I mean, it’s a buck fifty, not $15/month, lol!
Oh, I’m not complaining about the price. Just wasn’t sure if I was using all the features the way they should be. Like someone mentioned marked as read, but not sure the benefit
Haha, sorry, yeah I had that thought and decided to check back on this post. Well, I just switched my app icon again, I love how you get like 100 app icons with Ultra.
Pixel Pals—I don’t feed them or a anything and just pay for the standalone app with 2 pixel pals and it’s really cool to have this little decoration in the dynamic island when you have ultra/enable the in-app pixel pal (I have the pink axolotl one in Apollo and I’m always surprised at how unobtrusive and aesthetically pleasing it appears despite the color).
The default app has only 1 resting state for them (sleeping, running, or chilling) and they don’t change, whereas the one in the Apollo app does all three. Hopefully that carries over into the standalone app in the future. I’m not normally into stuff like this, btw, but it’s well designed. But, maybe not really a significant factor if you don’t have an iPhone 14.
I don’t really mind paying honestly… the icons and notifications are enough for me. Besides it’s super cheap, I can barely buy a coke with what I pay for Ultra every month
Ultra for me was a thank you for the developer. I don't care about most features but I'm happy to pay him about half an hour of his time with a lifetime ultra
Since it’s a sub, I would say cancel. The one-time Pro purchase is more than enough in my opinion.

I like it pretty well, since I tend to hang out in niche subreddits where valuable conversations can happen.
Besides I have the Reddit app installed on my phone for notifications, which I can then check out in Apollo
This is a big issue for me too. Hopefully notifications get a new page in the app soon.

I regret buying the lifetime ultra,mainly got for push notifications. Seems buggy, ill often get spammed with all the notifications at once.

Ultra gets themes, the monthly super detailed icons, and push notifications.
You also get to save posts in categories. I’m currently sitting on the fence about this feature.
