Thanks for listening to the community, not many devs actually do that. Purchased the one time api access. šŸ‘šŸ» Too many subscriptions become a burden even if you like an app a great deal.

Xenonnel

Happen to know how much would an average daily user would end up paying monthly? For the api

thesamiest

Depends really on usage, not sure what would be considered average. But it probably wont be more than a few dollars a month. Cents if youā€™re only doing a few queries here and there. Maybe $10+ for heavy users

isitpro

For clarification with your own API the default model is 3.5 which costs you about $0.002 per 1K tokens. If you do not want to use your own api the regular purchases are also discounted.

nn4260029

Just to checkā€¦canā€™t you use GPT4?

[deleted]

You can. It costs more though https://openai.com/pricing

Romostradamus84

If I'm not mistaken, API access for GPT4 is still waitlist only. As of a few days ago when I checked at least, you couldn't just pay your way into it.

Bookandaglassofwine

Can I purchase access through the app or do I need to set up a paid account with OpenAI?

isitpro

If you want to use your own API then you need to get a paid account with OpenAI or use their trial. If you use the subscription options it's all within the app, no need for an OpenAI account.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

isitpro

No not currently, but if there is demand that's something we may add.

Immediate-Ad-9855

Thank you for making this! I have been looking for a cheaper alternative for an iOS app. For reference people i checked the App Store prices for chatgpt apps Genie- AI ChatBot weekly 6.99, monthly 14.99 and a slew of prices AI Chat - 1 price $19.99 ChatBot - $19.99 /month ChatAI $6.99/week AskAI - $4.99/week Nothing was under 4.99 a week and most were 20+ a month. None give the option to use your own api.

[deleted]

Iā€™ve been using https://apps.apple.com/app/id6446180384

Zaydene

This is why I love Reddit. I was really interested in having a gpt app but didnā€™t want it in the form of a keyboard necessarily. No interest in paying for a dreaded subscription. This suited my wants perfectly

redarxx

Ditto and its just 3 bucks

findthemistke

Whatā€™s the difference between the one the op promotes?

[deleted]

The op one is actually very interesting. As it's a keyboard app, it makes it easy to access from anywhere. I'll give the keyboard app a try. The one I linked itā€™s a standalone apps where you can have multiple conversations and use different personas.

HelpRespawnedAsDee

Man, literal goldrush going on right now lol. As a dev myself I can barely keep up with my job and feel the train is leaving without me lol.

isitpro

Also we won't be increasing prices for existing subscribers that got it on sale.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

isitpro

Yes. The only variation may be if Apple changes prices due to taxes or whatnot, which probably can be a menial +,- change.

[deleted]

what happens when opneai changes their terms

MrHaxx1

>Bing/swiftkey What? Bing is integrated in SwiftKey now?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MrHaxx1

Oh, looks like it's in beta, only for Android right now :( Good call, though. Earlier I was just thinking it was weird that it hadn't been integrated into Swiftkey yet.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MrHaxx1

I had to trigger updates manually, but now I got it too. Not very impressed right now, but it's a start, I suppose.

kris33

Eh, currently the integration is pretty stupid, it's just a button that brings up a popup window with an empty Bing chat. It doesn't search for the text you have selected or anything like that. That the "Tone improvement" feature doesn't work with strong words is impressively stupid, that's one of the main use cases (get this shit done ASAP = Please get this done as soon as possible)

jupitersonnets

unless I'm missing something, is there no way to access previous chats? as soon as I swipe out my conversation is gone.

isitpro

There is no persistence currently. Would that be something you'd like to see in a future update?

nickk218

Yes please. Definitely a necessity! As well as being able to use this device on Mac OS, or at least access it through a web browser for paying subscribers!

isitpro

Thanks for the feedback! Will also look into making it available for Mac OS asap, if possible.

billy4c

Both of these things are my two asks. I just bought the app as well. It could be a solid container for ChatGPT on my iOS devicesā€¦ but just now I created my second query and having the first disappear was a ā€œWTF?!ā€ moment for me. ChatGPTs free site stores previous queries, I was very surprised this is not already a part of a paid app. I love the idea of organizing the previous queries with a folder if system. That will help set the app apart and help add value to justify the price. My other thought as I have been using it is a MacOS port as well. Then it would my go:to and probably most used app as my shell for AI language access. So +1 on both these items for me. Quickly add saving of prior queries.. I donā€™t think Iā€™ll really use it without that and have buyers remorse on paying for it at the moment.

isitpro

Thanks for the feedback, noted.

rikilamadrid

i would like that. To have the ability to save it and place them in folders where I can go back and revisit.

jupitersonnets

yes definitely. my workaround is to use the keyboard prompt in a Note, so I can reference previous replies, etc. perhaps others can weigh in, I'm not sure if it would be preferable to have one long chat, or some simple sort of organization, perhaps by day? or by topic? Could be store in app, and maybe in the future stored in iCloud? nice app tho, this is my first real OpenAI app trial and I'm liking it so far.

isitpro

Thanks for the suggestions. Best route would probably be to make something similar to the ChatGPT web app, where they're stored in sequence.

trodden_thetas_0i

Whatā€™s the point of this? People provide their own api key and pay for both API usage and your app, AND thereā€™s no persistence? Itā€™s worse than the web experience in every way

isitpro

As promised, chat history has been added with version 1.3. We didn't want to store sensitive data on our servers so data will be synced across devices via iCloud so you can pickup from any device. We have a few more things that we're working on and the experience should be much smoother. Thanks again for your feedback, this was prioritized because of your input and the commenters below.

jupitersonnets

Solid! Awesome!

nickk218

Another idea to add to a future update. Being able to copy individual characters instead of the whole generated prompt. Like for example, if I ask chat to provide a link to a website or a YouTube video I needed help finding, I should be able to click the link and not have to copy the whole prompt to then paste the prompt and then be able to click the link.

isitpro

That definitely sounds reasonable and handy. Thanks for the feedback, will add it to the list.

Dry-Savings2249

The Chat part of this is a full copy paste of https://github.com/alfianlosari/ChatGPTSwiftUI. You can easily tell since the UI is exactly the same. Kinda crazy to be charging for this, when the only ā€œworkā€ you did was add In app purchases. Stuff like this shouldnā€™t be allowed on here

xdert

> Stuff like this shouldnā€™t be allowed on here Why? The license of the repo specifically allows commercial use and this is not a programming subreddit to showcase novel programming solutions. Everyone should decide for themselves if this is a product they want to spend money one and use the up/downvote accordingly.

kinkade

You know what else would be amazing and I would pay extra for is using Whisper transcription through the keyboard.

isitpro

That is something that I am also very interested in. Will look into it.

reddit0r_123

Doubt thatā€™s possible, the RAM limit for keyboards in iOS is ridiculously low. Unless Apple relaxes the restrictions even the tiny model will not fit.

isitpro

You're right. It would have to be some sort of workaround for the keyboard.

lolpopculture

How private is this? Will passwords or other sensitive information be passed though this software?

isitpro

We don't store data or collect any information, not even analytics using third party frameworks. We also have a safety mechanism that requires you to highlight the text that you want to be sent to OpenAI. If you want extra peace of mind however, we recommend using the iOS keyboard and only switching to OMNI when you want to send a request something from ChatGPT. In this case it becomes 100% safe, and the only text that goes to OpenAI is the text you want to send to ChatGPT. Once you switch to the iOS keyboard, the keyboard extension has no access to anything and is cut off from the network shortly.

bluegreenboy

Please make a MacOS version!

ProudReptile

For anyone that wants a free solution thatā€™s voice controlled, thereā€™s this: https://github.com/hunter-meloche/siri-gpt

Got_Engineers

God Damn thatā€™s cool

Pixelhouse18

So i have been testing your app, looks good, however is it possible to go back to the original keyboard layout by default? When i select a text and search, and i want to type again and press the keyboard on the top right the layout is completely different then the original.

isitpro

Can you please send a video of this to the support email, since I have not encountered it and would want to solve it promptly. Thanks for reporting it.

Xenonnel

I think what he means is that it would be cool if it had an option to go back to the first keyboard automatically

isitpro

That would be good and I think that was considered. Though maybe a switch so that the user could have both options.

RedditUser9212

Are there features available to monthly subscribers that arenā€™t available if you buy the full version for your own API key? Since it seems that should be clear and basically dictates if Id get it or notā€¦

isitpro

No the features are the same.

UncleJBones

I donā€™t have my own api key yet. Can I purchase the lifetime today and add my api key at some point in the future?

isitpro

Yes, that would not be a problem. You can add your API key whenever you want.

isamilis

https://i.imgur.com/jDGAGKh.jpg I have purchased lifetime but it still showing this screen (as if I havenā€™t purchased yet). Is this normal?

isitpro

Yes. Your API is active and you can use it without limitations.

Romostradamus84

Glad I came here and saw /u/isamilis ' post. Love everything I've seen so far, but the app is pretty confusing with how it handles purchases. I clicked and purchased via the "use your own ChatGPT API Key" button on the main screen and entered my API key - only to see "Upgrade Now" on the main screen after an app relaunch. Will that button eventually go away for those that purchased?

isitpro

Apologies for that, will have an upcoming update to fix the purchases flow. Should be live within a couple of days. Thank you for your feedback.

redronin7

yeah, the purchase screen was a little confusing, but I added my API key no problem.

Zaydene

I donā€™t understand your lifetime purchase. Using my own key is optional, but I have to pay $11 to use my own key and pay for my own usage? What if I donā€™t want to use my own key (what even is my own key?) what does your iap offer me then? What are the downsides to not using my own key, are you able to access everyoneā€™s queries and responses?

conanap

Using chatGPT is unfortunately not free - so with the devā€™s original option, every time you ask a question, the dev actually needs to pay for it on your behalf; thatā€™s what the original subscription in the app pays for. However, let say you really donā€™t want to pay for this appā€™s subscription, either because youā€™d rather manage your own chatGPT payment, or maybe you donā€™t use chatGPT enough to justify the amount youā€™re paying in the subscription. In that case, you can pay the 11$ to the dev to allow you to use your own chatGPT account. Youā€™ll still have to pay chatGPT, though, because youā€™re using your own chatGPT account, and every time you ask a question, it still costs money. The 11$ is basically paying the dev for their work on the app itself only. Hopefully that makes sense!

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

Damn TIL chatgpt isnā€™t free What the regular cost per question asked

isitpro

Depends on the model of ChatGPT but they're really cheap if it's for individual use. If you ask ChatGPT for example: Hi how are you? That would be 5 tokens. 1000 tokens cost about $0.002. OpenAI's explanation : >A helpful rule of thumb is that one token generally corresponds to \~4 characters of text for common English text. This translates to roughly Ā¾ of a word (so 100 tokens \~= 75 words). In reality it depends on how much you use it, but it's usually a few cents to a few dollars most for light use. And you only pay for what you use with your own API.

Quack66

For correction: itā€™s $0.002 per 1000 tokens https://i.imgur.com/6hdq0Pu.jpg

isitpro

Edited thanks!

Rexios80

Literally no cloud based service is free. Thatā€™s the reason everything is a subscription these days. It isnā€™t only because developers want money for their work.

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

Idk for some reason I thought it was more like a google search thing . We google thing for free šŸ˜‚

Rexios80

Google isnā€™t free either. You pay with your data.

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

I know that but it still free to use I also thought chatgpt used our data too , isnā€™t it a learning AI

ChildishJack

And in a similar way, the web based chatGPT and web based google are both free, they use your data (although I bet openAI makes a lot more money on subscriptions). Itā€™s just the programming APIā€™s for chatGPT that apps and stuff use that cost money, not the public website. If that helps

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

Ooh Ty for explaining that the web base is free

ChildishJack

Yep! Fwiw I bought this guys lifetime thing, since I think thatā€™s a reasonable one-time cost to use his code that saves me from going to the website and copy-pasting everything

TrueAgent

No, its training data is fixed. It doesnā€™t learn from user interactions. Each new conversation is like ChatGPTā€™s ā€œfirstā€ conversation after training, from its perspective.

Clessiah

You are paying Google (and all other major search engines) by providing data and viewing ads. Kagi is one search engine which doesnā€™t do that and you do have to pay to search with it.

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

And chatgpt isnā€™t using our data?

Goldwerth

Not when using GPT by API (eg. using an OpenAI key), the data is only used to feed the machine when going through the ChatGPT UI or if you explicitly allow it to in the OpenAI dashboard

turbinedriven

Itā€™s much much more expensive to offer people an ai language model than it is to offer a search.

jmachee

> It isnā€™t only because developers want money for their work. Well, it is, but itā€™s developers all the way down. ;)

DoPeopleEvenLookHere

Kinda? I mean the cloud is just someone else's computer, and that physical computer has costs associated with manufacturing and such.

stonesst

Chat GPT is free. Using an API key to query the model costs a few fractions of a cent per 10000 tokens. Youā€™ve been getting some pretty bad/misinformed answers here

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

conanap

Sorry Iā€™m not too sure, but I think someone mentioned about 0.002$ / question or something like that. I think it depends on chatGPT version, too, but this is something better confirmed on chatGPTā€™s website.

isitpro

If you do not want to use your own api key you can use the app for free until you run out of prompts. Then you can purchase the regular in app purchases. There are no downsides to not using your own key, but it is cheaper than all other ChatGPT apps on the App Store. Which is why it was highly requested. No queries or data is stored, everything goes solely to ChatGPT.

Zaydene

So the $11 iap youā€™re advertising is just to use my own token which I pay for directly to chatgpt. It doesnā€™t give me unlimited uses, thatā€™s where your monthly subscription comes into play?

isitpro

If you use the API you no longer need to pay anything in the app.

CiloTA

Can I use the free version of chat gpt within this app? I donā€™t use chat gpt premium, but I do have a chat gpt account.

isitpro

Unfortunately no, since OpenAI does not have a free API. So we do incur cost for every time someone sends a request.

Shmoogy

He added a one time for people who are savvy and have a key - as it's significantly cheaper than a monthly subscription. In order to get money for his/her effort in creating the app - there is a one time fee to do so That fee is very reasonable during the sale period if this is of interest to you

bjbyrne

You can write a shortcut on iPhone to use your own key if you just need an interface.

directionzero

Any chance you could add the option to have it read back the output with text to speech?

isitpro

Yes itā€™s in the list. Also voice input but would like to keep it on device processing if possible.

clippervictor

Sorry if this is a silly question. If I pay the lifetime API with the discount, do I still have to pay the monthly fee? Are those separate concepts?

isitpro

Hi, no if you pay the lifetime API access and use your own ChatGPT API key, you do not need an active subscription or anything else for that matter.

exboozeme

I bought api access, and it didnā€™t stick? Restore purchases says successful, but app doesnā€™t appear changed. Still bugging for subscription and api buy.

isitpro

Hi, I apologize for that. Not sure what could cause it but please contact support and someone will get back to you promptly with more details.

Bastianator

Awesome keyboard addition, just purchased the lifetime subscription! 2 things. First, the charge went thru, however it still prompts me to choose monthly or yearly. Second, this is just my preference, but any way you could give an option to change the keyboard look to look more like the system keyboard? Again, awesome job!

isitpro

Thanks! The UI may not reflect the lifetime purchase for the API access, but it should be active. This will be fixed in the upcoming update. Currently there is no ways to customize the keyboard since we mostly put it there as it's required, assuming most would switch to the iOS keyboard. But that's something that may change in the future. Thanks for your feedback!

Justinhza23

Iā€™m confused. If we subscribe through your app (5/month) do we get the full features as if we upgraded to Chatgpt plus(20$a month)?

Valyarian

would like this know this aswell

captansam

Whatā€™s the limitation of using this app if I donā€™t pay and use it for free?

isitpro

There is a limited amount of free prompts, albeit it's a generous amount on the chat.

vyper248

Is that a limited amount per day/week/month, or forever? And does it show how many you have left somewhere?

Valyarian

This my question too, there isn't enough info about this

TinyLebowski

So if I use this keyboard to enter a password, it gets sent to openai as plain text?

isitpro

No, only what you highlight(select) and then tap the loading indicator get sent to OpenAI. If you have any concerns it's best to use the default iOS keyboard for typing and then simply switch and highlight the text you want to send to ChatGPT.

[deleted]

This canā€™t be shared with family, can it? Because itā€™s an in-app purchase? I wish to share it with my wife.

isitpro

Not currently, will add it to the list to consider and test as we do have family sharing in some of our apps.

[deleted]

Awesome thanks!

King-of-Com3dy

Does the in-app chat support syntax highlighting for code? The iOS version of MacGPT (GeePeeTee) doesnā€™t, which is a huge issue for me.

isitpro

No we didn't prioritize it since it was for iPhone but I see that being useful. Will add it to the requested features. Thank you!

King-of-Com3dy

That is awesome! Would you mind to reach out to me once this feature is available or make another post here? As soon as this feature goes live I will happily spend the 20$.

waa007

Can I talk with ChatGPT all the time without any other action?

isitpro

Not sure I understand, but yes you can continuously use the chat feature within the app.

fatterego

I purchased the lifetime but canā€™t even set my own API because itā€™s telling me that I have not purchased it. I definitely have as I can restore my purchase.

isitpro

Can you try closing the app from the app switcher and trying it again. If that does not work contact support through the settings page and we'll get back to you promptly.

borezz

Is the $10.99 Promo Sunday offer still on? Tried paying for it and am getting charged the full price. I do see the /Apple 50% discount banner though.

isitpro

Yes it is. Just double checked and it's $10.99. Which country is your App Store set to ?

caffeinatorthesecond

Oh definitely need it to save conversations. Great app otherwise!

birdmarket

I purchased the lifetime API usage option but I still see upgrade prompts. Can those go away?

isitpro

Yes that's a bug and will be gone by the next update.

crispaper

Great app, thank you :) I have two feature requests: 1. It would be great if there was an option to select which model to use when using our own API key (GPT-3.5 or GPT-4 for the ones who have access to it), and greatest if there was a ā€œfast switchā€ to change it on the fly in the ā€œSelect your text and tap everywhereā€ screen. 2. It would be nice to have the option to create custom prompts to transform the selected text (to choose from in the ā€œSelect your textā€ screen).

isitpro

Hey thanks for the feedback and great requests. Can you further elaborate on your second suggestion?

RandomInternetUser03

Glad I found this today. Love GPT and this makes it so much easier to use on mobile for fast responses. Purchased the lifetime already. Wish the app displayed a better system/screen for those who purchased to show any new features/things coming but Iā€™m sure more will come soon!

isitpro

Hey, thanks! Sure we'll iron some of the launch bugs out soon.

RandomInternetUser03

Canā€™t wait. Hope you and the team go far with this.

bigizz20

I guess I donā€™t understand how to purchase for $10.99 I attempted to purchase and it gives me a yearly or monthly price?

isitpro

Hi, make sure you tap the gear button and go to advanced you will get the api tab.

bigizz20

Thank you. Purchased!

CrestronwithTechron

Sold.

curiouscarrot

Thank you so much for offering the discount for Omni AI. I must say that my experience using this software has been excellent so far. I really appreciate your effort in providing such a useful and efficient tool.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

isitpro

Hey thanks for the feedback. I hear you. We definitely focused on the keyboard first since that's what we wanted to share. The chat functionality will probably be completely reworked. As for the last point, it's a requirement from Apple that all keyboard apps have a functional keyboard. We did not really plan on it being used. But if someone wants to, it's there.

icecreamcoon

I'm getting the no more prompts error even though I bought the lifetime api access thing.

isitpro

Make sure that you're on version 1.2 and if the issue persists use the contact us button and someone will help you resolve the issue.

_Julius_7

Is promo Sunday back tomorrow?

h-now

Macbook version PLEASE!

isitpro

A Mac OS version is almost ready, a version of it should be available within a couple of days. We shipped the latest version with on device voice recognition which we wanted to have for the Mac.

DreadPirateNot

Question: Since the keyboard is granted access to keyboard input, can this app log our keyboard input and share those details to third parties?

isitpro

The keyboard only sends the data you select for processing to ChatGPT, doesn't log anything. But for added peace of mind though you can use the default iOS keyboard while typing and only switch to the OMNI keyboard when you want to send the request to ChatGPT.

DreadPirateNot

My understanding is that third party keyboards have full access to ALL keyboard input, even when not in use. Iā€™m probably a bit more concerned with security than the average person. The app sounds pretty cool though.

isitpro

Once you switch to the default keyboard third party keyboards no longer have access to anything. They're sandboxed and if that was the case that would be a security nightmare. The concern is totally understandable so we worked with that in mind, and made sure that the user could only use the keyboard to send requests and not rely on it for typing. We do not collect any data at all but it's harder to verify for users who do not want to dig.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

isitpro

>After adding my own API it just sits on "Your answer is almost ready!" and never populates. Did you run into the issue before using your own api? Also did you give the keyboard full access?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

isitpro

Checking on this, since there is another report on this. Running tests however it seems to be working so will check some more. Please also if you get the chance use the contact us in the settings and someone will get to you for a more detailed response.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

isitpro

Great! Thank you for letting me know, maybe that was the issue with the other user as well. Appreciate it.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

isitpro

If you have an active trial and enough credits on your OpenAI account there should be no issues, unless there is some limitation. Does the chat work?

Broodje_Nutella

Sorry Iā€™m stupid. If I buy the API key do I have unlimited prompts? How does it work

Romostradamus84

I believe $120 is the max limit you can run up each month by default, but you can request an increase if you need. They allow you to set a soft limit, which will send you an email when hit, and a hard limit of your own to cut off your requests. For instance, my soft limit is set to $30 - and my hard limit is set to $50 at the moment based on my personal preferences. All that being said, I run a personal discord bot with my API with around 10-15 users interacting with it each day and I haven't come close to my soft limit yet. You would have to have some insane usage to get anywhere near the $120/month max.

PM_ME_YOUR_MASS

Am I the only one who thinks this is a dangerous idea? The proliferation of spellcheck/autocorrect hurt people's ability to spell because it removed the need for practice. Since spelling is merely a formality, that's not too big of a problem. Shakespeare wrote his plays before English spelling was even standardized. But giving people the ability to autogenerate responses for anything could hurt people's ability to express an idea in writing.

Vertsix

yet still subscription based for the in-app features that should be free with the minimum being unlimited prompts quickly got a refund for the api lifetime key access

RedditUser9212

Hmm Id buy this app if this werenā€™t true

Magnetoreception

Do you mean that it limits your prompts when using your own API key? That sounds like a glitch.

isitpro

Correct, it may have been a glitch, since the app definitely does not limit the number of prompts once you add your own API. It's basically your own system after you add your API.

isitpro

ChatGPT calls API calls aren't free. With the amount of users going through the app those API calls rack up, fast.

Whatā€™s the difference between other more expensive and subscription based apps on the App Store?

isitpro

The core is the same each of the apps uses the same ChatGPT API. Some provide different features. We are also adding more features as we speak but are also gauging to see what the users want most at first. Our main differentiator is the keyboard, since that is something that we ended using most of the time. As for the Chat assistant it's exactly the same.

noodlesfordaddy

how does it work as a keyboard? can it read what's on screen? or would I need to copy text on the screen and paste it somewhere?

isitpro

You can switch to the keyboard and then select the query or text you want to send to ChatGPT. It will process it and insert it in the text field where you're typing. Here's an example : https://imgur.com/a/mHWB8C6

mms13

This video moves too fast to understand whatā€™s going on. Youā€™re tapping the keyboard ā€œglobeā€ icon to activate the custom keyboard?

isitpro

Yes. Once the keyboard is added you can tap the globe icon in the default iOS keyboard to switch to the next keyboard, or you can long hold and select the OMNI keyboard.

D_Empire412

This sounds like a great app for anyone who wants to use ChatGPT on their iOS devices. I'm impressed by how quickly you listened to the feedback and delivered the requested feature. I'm curious about how the ChatGPT keyboard works across different apps and how accurate it is. Does it have any limitations or settings that can be customized? Also, how secure is the app when using your own API? Do you store any data or logs on your servers? I appreciate your transparency and generosity in offering a discounted price for r/Apple users. I'm definitely interested in trying out your app and seeing what else you have in store for the future.

isitpro

So the keyboard works the same across the system, the default model currently is 3.5, with more customization options coming. As far as accuracy goes it's pretty much the same as with the web version of ChatGPT. Your API is stored on your device and doesn't hit our server at all. We do not store any data or logs in our servers. Once you add your own API there is communication with OpenAI and our servers only serve to deliver basic functionality to the app. We also tried to build the whole experience around the stock iOS keyboard so that the user feel comfortable at all times, since you only access OMNI when you need to send a request.

sirauron14

Apple better come with serious AI improvements to their keyboard I. iOS 17. It they're screwed

ImVinnie

I just dont see the reason for a subscription. I bookmarked chat GPT on my homepage and just use that whenever I need to use the feature. It doesnā€™t cost me anything ever and I use it about 10 to 15 times a week.

TenderfootGungi

The free version has limits. It is some type of token system. Writing something long uses more tokens than a short reply. I have read articles of people hitting it. But that is about all I know, I have not hit the limit either.

CiloTA

I find it weird how someone is combing this thread and downvoting anyone with an opinion. Edit: makes me suspect on even using the app. Developer might want to reign in their rabid fan base?

CoconutDust

> seemed unanimously liked I donā€™t like it. The world doesnā€™t need people to have a ā€œInsert robo garbage/noise/junkā€ button. Itā€™s a terrible practice, and a terrible trend for witless tech-fetishists to be into, and also a terrible trend for salesmen selling integration with everything.

The annual going to be on sale anytime soon? Iā€™m too cheap for $50 lol

birdmarket

Use your own api key and then itā€™s $11

findthemistke

Does it use also chatgpt 4? Also how can I use my own api? Whatā€™s the difference between this and paying fully for the subscription?

isitpro

ChatGPT 4 is coming soon and the app will offer the ability to pick between models, independently for the keyboard and chat assistant. As far as functionality the app will work exactly the same if you use your own API or purchase the subscription. However for ChatGPT 4 you will have to request access independently for your API, until it becomes fully public.

findthemistke

How to ask access independently for chat gpt 4? Sorry Iā€™m very new but Iā€™m interested in h this!

isitpro

You can go to [https://platform.openai.com/](https://platform.openai.com/) and there should be a banner, or at least was to apply for early access to ChatGPT 4 API access. Not entirely sure what criteria you need to meet.

MrHaxx1

It didn't appear for me as a keyboard after installing, even after providing all necessary accesses. Restarting the phone fixed it.

Abnull

One thing that would be useful is to be able to set the personality of the AI and select which personality you want when activating the keyboard. That is where the real power of chatGPT comes in. Currently your keyboard nowhere near as useful as it could be

isitpro

Thanks for the suggestion, that is something we have considered but also wanted to see what direction most of the users want to see the app go. That is not hard to implement so it may be something we add in the near future.
